Rep Escobar and Rep Maria Salazar are preparing to file a discharge petition to force a floor vote in the House on Salazar’s amnesty bill (HR 4393, the “DIGNIDAD” Act). Escobar yesterday filed a House Resolution (H.Res. 1560) which allows her to file a discharge petition after 7 session days (including pro forma sessions). ÂÂOnce that’s filed, they need to get 218 signatures, and then they can force a vote on Salazar’s amnesty with no amendments allowed. This will all play out during the lame duck session. The fate of the discharge petition and the amnesty will depend entirely on pro-amnesty Republicans.ÂHere’s the resolution Rep.
