REPORTER WILLIAM J. KELLY: My source within Cook County Jail tells me that Loyola freshman Sheridan Gorman's accused killer, Jose Medina, was just found with a six-inch metal shank concealed in his waistband. The weapon reportedly had a handle wrapped in medical tape. Medina is currently being housed in the general population of the Cermak Health Services unit at Cook County Jail.
According to my source, criminal charges related to the incident could be announced as early as today or Monday.
If confirmed, the discovery could undermine his defense attorney's claim that Medina is handicapped and suffers from brain damage. #thatreporter
