I am writing to urge you to take a firm stand during the upcoming budget process. Our nation cannot continue down the path of bloated spending, political gamesmanship, and endless continuing resolutions.
Congress should pass a clean, pork-free budget that funds essential services, prioritizes American taxpayers, and moves us closer to a balanced budget. It is long past time to cut the unnecessary giveaways to foreign countries and eliminate wasteful programs that serve special interests rather than the hardworking people of Mississippi.
There should be no continuing resolution. If Democrats are unwilling to pass a fiscally responsible budget and attempt to force a shutdown in order to preserve their out-of-control spending habits, so be it. This would be an opportunity for President Trump to use a shutdown to significantly reduce the size of our inefficient and bloated federal bureaucracy, which has grown far beyond what is necessary or effective.
I will be watching how you vote on this matter, and I will give you as much grief as I can if you fail to represent the hardworking taxpayers of (Your State Here).
I expect you, as my elected representative, to stand strong and support a budget that serves the people of the United States—nothing more, nothing less. Please do not compromise on this issue.
