Murders and shootings in the Big Apple skyrocketed last week compared to the same period last year, law enforcement sources said.
From last Monday to Sunday night, there were 13 murders in the city, compared to five killings during the same week last year, sources said.
The city reported 40 shootings last week — the most in a week since 2015. In the same time period in 2019, there were 24 shootings, sources said.
The increase in violence came as demonstrators marched city streets to protest the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

This isn't news, anyone with brains enough to walk knew this was going to happen when the cops were told to stand down and leave the terrorists alone.
One problem is complacency, as witnessed by AOC's shocking upset victory in the 2018 Democratic Primary. She defeated the incumbent, a ten term Congressman named Joe Crowley by only 4000 votes in a district represented by 214,570 registered Democrats. How? Well, turnout was a microscopic 29,778-- slightly greater than 10%. Thanks to voter complacency, the birdbrain from The Bronx won by default.
Just as chilling-- in 2017, Bill de Blasio won a second term as Mayor of New York City by a net margin of only 726,361 votes, a number representing a mere 8.5 percent of the population at large. Out of 4.6 million "active" registered voters, a paltry 1.1 million cast ballots in the mayoral election. That's a turnout of just under 24%. Once again, victory by default.
Give NY Democrats their due for milking victory from the jaws of apathy.
I hear Oprah and two of her Black female friends are holding a 2-day town hall meeting on racism... Question: Which one is bringing the bricks and who has the Molotov cocktails... will there be party favors at the meeting... masks, matches, clubs, knives, and guns? And has the fire department and emergency services been notified?

Why would this be a surprise to anyone? First the idiots opened the jails and let out just about everyone. Next anyone arrested during the riots is automatically released to go back to their evil ways. By the way, where are all these guns come from? Aren't there some pretty strict gun laws in NYC?
