President Trump recognizes that Canada has taken advantage of the US for a long time. Therefore, they aren't an ally but a foe and need to be treated accordingly. We definitely don't need them. We have other options like working with Russia to get the diesel price down instead of engaging a foe like Canada.
In the process remember Russia is the enemy, just because they agree to something that actually benefiting them doesn't make them our friend. Russia headed by Putin cannot be trusted!

It does not look like it to me. President Trump rightfully treats Canada as a foe and Russia as an ally in this instance. He is thinking way beyond what's visible to others.
