Socialism 2026 is still requiring masks as part of what Sean Larson, Haymarket Books’ political education coordinator and a conference organizer, calls a “compassionate and collective approach” to keeping attendees from contracting COVID and other illnesses.

And yes, before anyone sees the masks and assumes this is old footage, I assure you this is 2026.

Larson then warns attendees that being asked to show a conference badge at the door may feel “a little bit jarring.” But fear not. The badge checkers have been ideologically processed.

They are part of a “community safety” plan necessary for holding “a large left-wing conference without relying on carceral means.”

Even “hey, did you actually pay to be here?” has to pass through an ideological filter.
