  • When this Angus cow dies, she'll stand before the great white throne and find out that there really is a literal hell.

  • Probably not going to go down well with Georgia voters.

but lets face it; the bible is basically a book of mythology.  Most religions have them.  The old testiment is 10,000 years of camp fire stories and none the books of Matthew, Mark Luke and John were written at the time they happened.  Most of them were written 60 to 90 years after the fact and not by the writter for whom they were named.  Tell me how the Matthew and Luke could have been present at the birth of Jesus?  They would have been children and their families were probably not from Nazareth.

    • First... Jesus was 30-33 yrs old when He died on the Cross at Calvary... Paul and most of the disciples were much older and were probably between 5-10yrs old when Jesus was born.  Matthew and Luke were likely in the early teens at Christ's birth and died in their 80s...  We have evidence that points to Luke being 83 at his death.  There are no records of Matthews's age at the time of Jesus's birth... we can only surmise that he was much older than Jesus as tax collectors were normally selected from older men with long records of service and loyalty to the existing government.

Next, The old testament is reported to be no older than 4-5 thousand years... not the 10K  you suggest. The historical references in its texts and the archeological record, supported by manuscripts and the reports of ancient historians such as Josephus, Philostorgius, and Herodotus which indicate that the books of the Bible existed for no more than 4-5 thousand years.

Finally, the Bible contains more evidence of historical events than any other single work... It is hardly mythical. The Bible stands unique among the books of historical record... recording major events of mankind's struggle in the Earth going back approximately 5000 years.  It also bears support from most of the ancient historians of record.

    • You're so wrong.  But then your statement is exactly what I'd expect from an agnostic .... Or is it a full blown atheist?
