Sunday Sermon III

The declining faith in the supernatural was accompanied by the rise of the monstrous totalitarian creeds of the 20th century."-Arthur Schlesinger, among others.

The left-wing pressure groups have displaced the civic organizations that traditionally provided moral leadership and channeled citizens’ voices in opposition to governments’ abuses of power: churches. Since long before the American Republic was even founded, churches served vital civic functions without which the United States as we know it would never have come to exist and for which no substitute is possible.

Conservatives complain endlessly that the left-wing hates religion and seeks to have it “banished from the public square.”  But it is religious leaders, conservative lobbies and law firms (ostensibly “Christian” or not), that pushed the churches out of active public engagement — or gave them the excuse to run away.

Unlike citizens and churches, whose interest lies in resolving public problems so they can return to the business of life (earning a living, spending time with the family, saving souls), operatives on left  have a vested interest in perpetuating the problems they are paid to solve. This principle lies behind all our ills.

The Christian Religion - invaluable in America's founding, forming and flowering - deserves a place in our institutions. Indeed, it had that place for almost 200 years. The Bible is not about fact. It is about values. Christianity is in no way compelling anyone to do anything, let alone interdicting the will of the majority. If it does manage to persuade a majority of Americans, how is that different from any other group persuading a democratic majority? Under American concepts of political pluralism, it makes no difference from where what I believe comes. The legitimacy of any belief rests ultimately on its content, not on its origins. The pedigree of an opinion has little to nothing to do with its legitimacy as a contender for public opinion. Certainly when Christianity was the major force behind the Civil Rights movement and anti-war movements, the anti-religious had no qualms about employing it.

Mainline church leaders, knowingly or unknowingly, are consenting to the left-wing political contamination and destruction of the Gospel. Do they not see that what they are doing leads people away from God? People of faith who fail to question and resist the destruction of the Word of God for fear of being “in the way of progress” are in effect joining the blind march toward a world governed by the godless who, while many pose as sponsors of religion in the world, in reality hate God, hate family, ignore justice toward humanity, and in fact hate people, as their promotion of transhumanism indicates.

The fact that followers of Christ are today persecuted throughout the world and are being accused even by our very own FBI of being “terrorists” is all one needs to know that a Big Lie against true Christians is silencing the Word of God. That's because it stands in the way of progress toward the great reset/great narrative ruled by self-appointed left-wing elites.

For the many people of good will who have been made to believe otherwise, God does not change his mind about us and the world, as many a pastor in our day seems to think, including a pope, no less. But the promulgation and the acceptance of false Christian doctrine is in reality a rejection of Christ. Treachery against Christ is something that the Apostle Paul warned the first Christian bishop of Ephesus, Timothy. That most church leaders today are not following the teachings of Christ handed down to us by his disciples is plain evidence that they are in apostasy, meaning they in fact reject Christianity. To be unaware of this fact of faith or, worse, not care about it, is to be promoting the way of the godless instead of the way and the truth and the life embodied in Jesus Christ. No amount of woke whitewash can hide this turning away from the founder of Christianity and the Church.

A report from the Family Research Council should set off alarm bells in the America. The report covered all kinds of violence over the last 6 years, including arson, bomb threats, vandalism and even shootings. Sadly, there is a clear pattern. These attacks are not isolated incidents, and they are happening with greater frequency every year. For example, there were 55 incidents of hostility toward churches in 2020. In 2021, there were 96 incidents. In 2022, there were nearly 200 attacks.

What explains the fact that the number of attacks against churches doubled again last year to more than 430 incidents? Make no mistake about it: This violence is motivated by unhinged forces on the political left. That’s why it gets so little attention from the left-wing media. That’s why the attacks in Texas and Tennessee by transgender individuals against Christians disappeared so quickly from the headlines. Intolerant leftists routinely smear Christians as the “American Taliban” and “Christian nationalists.” They accuse us of being a “threat to democracy.” They hate us because we believe in the sanctity of life, because we believe marriage is the union of a man and a woman, and because we believe in the biological, scientific reality that a person’s sex cannot change.

And as we have repeatedly warned, the persecution of Christians is not just violent attacks. Increasingly, it is coming from radical government policies that seek to marginalize and punish people of faith, whether it’s peaceful pro-life activists or parents just trying to raise their children according to their values.Under the biden, there’s one common denominator between the growing religious persecution abroad and the rapidly increasing hostility toward churches here at home: our government’s policies. From the FBI to IRS, the Biden administration has spent the last 3 years criminalizing Americans with biblical views, only to turn around and complain about threats to democracy. What bigger threat is there than a government weaponized against its own people?

One must wonder if the social contract between the government and the governed is dangerously close to breaking.  One must wonder how many pastors, priests, and preachers will become Dietrich Bonhoeffers. One must wonder how far the Catholic and Evangelical communities will go to protect their freedom of religion and their First Amendment rights.

Deception is no match for the truth, which will prevail in spite of the lure of modernist theology that seduces the church and the minds of many Christians. In essence it is the need to look at the consequences of the actions taken.  The Church founded by Christ has withstood every test for 2,000yrs. Although its enemies may declare it dead, it keeps rising because even the gates of hell will not prevail against it, with the help of its members.

"At the very least the liberty of religion, opinion, expression, property, must be guaranteed against arbitrary invasion."--Benjamin constant

  • Beautifully stated. We need a "way-back" machine. Blackstone's Law originally cited scripture, but here is a tidbit from the legal source for our laws and justice that was based on the Bible.

This is from Blackstone's 2nd Ed.

"Because one is the law of nature, expressly declared so to be by God himself; the other is only what, by the assistance of human reason, we imagine to be that law. If we could be as certain of the latter as we are of the former, both would have an equal authority; but, till then, they can never be put in any competition together.

Upon these two foundations, the law of nature and the law of revelation, depend all human laws; that is to say, no human laws should be suffered to contradict these."

    About Science:

"The whole progress of plants, from the seed to the root, and from thence to the seed again—the method of animal nutrition, digestion, secretion, and all other branches of vital economy—are not left to chance, or the will of the creature itself, but are performed in a wondrous involuntary manner, and guided by unerring rules laid down by the great creator.

So, I ask now, was Roe overthrown for the right reason, or not?
