“a good example of Army Aviation "half-assery," the Captain Tammy Duckworth shoot down in Iraq is a model case study of pilot negligence resulting in catastrophe. I personally briefed her telephonically on her unit's repeated over flight of posted "no fly zone," that she lazily allowed herself overflight of. My Brigade Commander at the time, COL McConville, directed me to ensure that her unit "Catfish Air," outta Chicago were aware of all posted no fly zones in the AO. I spoke with her over the phone several times about the no fly zones. Tragically ironic, she got shot down directly over one of these no fly zones along the Tigris river near Taramiyah. I spent the night helping to coordinate recovery and ultimate destruction of her crash site. I don't think a very thorough investigation was completed and holding pilots accountable because we were in the thick of the fight against insurgents around Bagdad at the time. But I can say that Senator Duckworth is no hero or model of example to me. In fact, she is just the opposite”
