In just a few short weeks, the yellow buses will roll out again. Backpacks will be packed. Lunches will be made. Smiles will be forced. Tears will be hidden behind sunglasses. Children will shudder in terror knowing the terror they face in those “classrooms” or bathrooms, or hallways. And once again, millions of Christian parents will perform their annual ritual: they will hand their children over to the state, not for a day, not for a week, but for nine full months of systematic indoctrination. Five days a week, six hours a day, someone other than the parent will be discipling their children.

We’ve normalized it. We’ve dressed it up. We’ve celebrated it with “first day of school” pictures and Pinterest-worthy chalkboards. But at its core, this ritual is strikingly similar to the sacrifices to Molech in ancient times. Then, parents handed over their children to the fire. Today, they hand them over to the gods of progress, relativism, identity confusion, and statist allegiance. The method has changed. The outcome is eerily similar. To appease the gods of the state, curry favor of the gods for a bigger house, new car, European vacation always dreamt of, or the ability to take on my responsibility at work for that promotion.

Let’s stop pretending this is just education. It’s discipleship. It’s soul formation. It’s identity programming.

And let’s stop pretending the system is “neutral.” It is not. It is explicitly secular. It is hostile to Christ. And its architects know exactly what they are doing. They're not hiding it anymore. From drag queens in libraries, to critical race theory disguised as “inclusivity,” to the normalization of gender fluidity, the public school system has become a temple of ideological purification, one where the Name of Jesus is either erased or mocked, and the god of the age is enthroned in His place.

And the most sobering part?
This isn’t being done to our kids. It’s being done with our consent.

Christians sign the permission slips.
Christians attend the parent-teacher nights.
Christians decorate the lockers.
Christians buy the supplies.
Christians even fundraise for the very system discipling them away from Christ.

If the Enemy ever needed proof that his strategy is working, he need only look at the hands of Christian parents; placing their children back into his care every August, with grins and group selfies.

We’re not being forced to do this.
We’re choosing to.
We’re sacrificing our children willingly.

Let that sit.

The ancient Israelites were judged for doing far less.

“But what else can we do?”
That’s always the question.

My answer? Anything else. Whatever it takes. Anything that keeps your child out of the fire.

Yes, homeschooling is hard - we did it with all four of our now adult children and were poor because of it. So what? Were our children safe? Protected? You know, responsibilities we “parents” are charged with, right?

Yes, it will cost you something.

But so did child sacrifice.

We did not sacrifice our children on the alter of convenience and state education. As a result, I’m ending my life surrounded by my family, literally, on a farm. I see my grandchildren every day as they safely explore their surrounding world, under the watchful protective eyes of their parents.

Prophets like Jeremiah and Ezekiel strongly condemned child sacrifice (Jeremiah 32:35, Ezekiel 16:20-21), urging the people to turn back to God and abandon such practices. The Israelites didn’t listen, so guess what God did?

The Israelites eventually repented.

It’s time we did too.
Before the damage is irreversible.

Because if we won’t disciple our children, Caesar gladly will.
