I served honorably in the U.S. Navy for 23 plus years. Holding my country's Constitution, our flag, the people that represent the American republic, but most of all the people that live in what was once one of the greatest nations in the world. Now as i look at where the government is constantly lining they pockets with money and with no respect for anyone else's rights I think that the future of our once great nation is in dire straights and the people that once fought for freedom of the world are now at a crossroads to decide what must happen in America. The Civil War was fought for the freedom of slaves in the south but the hidden truth is that it never addressed the raw prejudice that reflected the north. Long ago history, but the point is more and more Americans are feeling the rumbling of a conflict in America on our own soil and the greed that exists in Washington, D.C. is the primary cause. Yes the news media, both liberal and conservative plus all of the elected government officials are dishonest in one sense or the other. I know a revolution, quoting a line from the book "Hunt for Red October - that revolution from time to time is a good thing" but must the greedy be the government we elected to protect us??? I know this is long and drawn out but there has to be a honest group of men and women representing us. In the beginning elected government officials were paid a stipend when they were in Washington on federal functions otherwise they relied on they permanent job for earning an income. Publish the salaries of all senators and congressmen/women plus their staffs will be a shock to the average American. Trust me I was stunned to learn what they earn. As a disable veteran with my military retirement, disability payment and social security. I make $xxxx.xx and the most junior elected official makes quite a bit more than I do. Remember i was the one that was in the trenches fighting for freedoms around the world putting my life on the line. If you consider a general military officer, very few are actually in combat. Too top off everything i still get texts, phone calls and mail telling me if i just give the elected officials more money for their campaign they will do more for me. Right now social security will be bankrupt in approximately 10 to 15 years. Because elected government officials saw a box of money just laying around and said we can borrow from it and we will put it back. Get a grip this is one of the greatest lies in the world. Enough of my complaining elected officials need to understand their jobs are in jeopardy. Not from elections but from revolution. Think how the common man/woman feels there is a lot of disgust and yes "hate/contempt" for them. My piece has been said.
