Almost every economist will agree it is inevitable that a Sales and Transaction Tax System (STT) will be the final and best solution. "One Tax for All" is:
The sole and only tax collection system for all segments of the economy; no other taxes
The lowest tax rate possible
The easiest tax to administer and collect, with the least number of rules, laws, and regulations
A tax system that spreads the tax burden evenly across all citizens, non-citizens, businesses, enterprises, and organizations; all segments of the economy (ASOE)
A tax that creates maximum cash flow for the economy
A tax that will collect enough funds to maintain a balanced budget

A tax that will unleash the wealth of the United States to be the most competitive economy in the world
Food for thought... ( A national sale and transaction tax is not a VAT tax. A VAT tax is an extra tax that is added or piled onto other existing taxes. This is just “One Tax For All” – No other taxes!)

I gave you a little time to cease laughing and regain composure. Frankly, the tax yoke is not only begrudgingly expected, but would cause surprise if suddenly lifted.
A return to international tariffs is easy. but our untrustworthy and disobedient servant, the Federal Government, likes the way things are and will not change until the constituents of it resolve to cease and desist. They would however relish your one-tax idea if they could consolidate taxes into one big 65 percent tax for redistribition, just like Scandinavian socialist countries do. Perhaps a Convention of States outcome?

Oh they care Stephen. They just do not think change can be effected, because we are talking about money the Federal Government wants. Decades of IRS thuggery has brought that lesson home.
Property tax may be a tough nut to crack. Some states have come to view it as their tax farm franchise. Here in the Peoples Republic of California, taxes are low percentage-wise, but high in number value because the actual property prices are high.
