WASHINGTON, D.C. — National Press Club President Mark Schoeff Jr. released the following statement:
1/6 “The Justice Department’s decision to subpoena journalists at The New York Times should alarm every American because it threatens the public’s constitutional right to an independent press.
2/6 The National Press Club calls on the Justice Department to immediately withdraw these subpoenas and reaffirm a principle that has long distinguished the United States: a free and independent press serves the people, not the government.
3/6 Every American should understand what is at stake. When federal agents arrive at the homes of journalists with subpoenas, it is not ordinary law enforcement. It is an extraordinary assault on the freedom of the press that strikes at the heart of the First Amendment.
4/6 The First Amendment protects the public’s right to an independent press. When the government turns its investigative powers on journalists, it weakens one of the nation’s strongest checks on those who hold power.
5/6 The greatest danger isn’t the subpoena itself. It’s the message it sends. It tells sources to stay silent. It tells whistleblowers to think twice. And it leaves the American people knowing less about the government that serves them.
6/6 A government confident in its actions should never fear independent scrutiny. A free press exists to ask difficult questions, uncover uncomfortable facts and inform the American people. The Constitution protects that work because a democracy cannot hold power accountable without an independent press.”

The only standard for an independent press is that it is based on objective spoken and written Truth. And that is the only reason for their existance in that office.
Truth is defined as, in part: In accordance with the actual state of things. True is opposed to false. True is genuine, real, not counterfit, adulterated, it is as true love of country, a true Christian. Jn. 1-9 ex. Implies light, the light of truth. Truth is faithful. True to our country, a husband and wife are true to each other. Not false, pretended or exaggerated.
Therefore, a true press does not invent, exaggerate, alter the facts, incite hatred and murder—and it changes not at all whether it's one news media or another. Truth is Truth. Nothing else.
If these people do not shake off the demons controlling them, they are going to have hell to pay, one way and the other. We the People insist on truth in media again. IOW, the press is not allowed to lie without dire consequences. That is the bastardization of free speech. It is NOT the Founders' definition of Truth. It is not Biblical. The opposite.
The Duty of the Press requires obedience to truth and submission to truth. LIke a dog. Like a runner. Stay in your lane. No one gave these people the right to trample on truth.
It is their duty in their office/of media, to submit to the truth, to obey the truth, with impartiality to opinion, propaganda and falsity. They commit fraud every time they open their mouths.and sometimes come close to inciting insurrection.
What should be done about it? They use our publically owned air waves to lie, hate, demean, threaten. They have voluntarily LEFT their position as honest and truthful reporting. They incite insurrection, shootings, attacks. They birth rabid behaviour in people and put innocent people in danger. What should be done?
