Treatise on Haters of Capitalism

Source; My friend Roger

“The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery. -- Winston Churchill

socialism, applied under different names to mask the degree to which it is applied to undermine the free market, inherently always fails to deliver what it promises. The results of its failure are in proportion to the degree with which it is applied. Why?

socialism ultimately works against the mutual benefit of all members of society by its reliance on centrally planned political intervention over the free market, led by small numbers of self-proclaimed elites and manned by a large contingent of bureaucrats(1). This cannot but limit, prevent or impede significantly the freedom and effectiveness of billions of individual abilities, knowledge and desires to act. It inevitably destroys the mechanisms that discover what members of society consider worth working, striving, and paying for, how best to produce that and how to balance supply and demand across numerous alternatives that continuously vary due to constantly changing wants, needs, cost, quality, quantity and availability.

A modern free and open society, which allows for billions of individuals a vastly greater standard of living never before experienced, requires a complex economic system based on freedom, known as a Market. Such a system, to function, must coordinate the plans and actions of those individuals. To do so requires the institutions of private property and market competition, called Capitalism.  Only where individuals are free to create, buy, own and sell goods and resources, will they have the incentives and opportunities to evaluate appraise and enhance their usefulness towards the unlimited alternatives they can conceive and create.

Those valuations, resulting in gains-from-trade, are possible only when conducted by using Market-derived prices. Market-derived prices, expressed as Money, helps simplify the calculation which makes possible the efficient use of scarce resources and production. In addition it disperses information necessary for the market’s mechanisms that coordinate those aforementioned actions and plans of billions of individuals.

All of which socialism (whose harsh reality exists beyond the lofty first principles it espouses), in consequence, works hard to destroy and replace all that with basically the will and whim of elites and bureaucrats.

“Property and freedom are inseparably connected, so as the absence of one denies the other.  Free stuff won’t solve the problem, freedom will.”---Rev Robert Sirico

The governmental administrative class, which through their committees, seminars and meetings, they obtain the levers of power and find ways to make it permanent, striking down challengers as enemies of progress, the people, and/or change they come to dominate a society, feeling no sense of duty or gratitude to the larger body they rule.

How true. One is independence, the other, slavery and hopelessness. Hope cannot thrive upon someone else's provision.
