American truck driver sounds the alarm that some foreign drivers who were put out of service for failing required English-proficiency standards are getting back on the road with invalid CDL licenses.
Two days ago, her truck was hit by a foreign driver who then tried to flee the scene. She called police and followed him, making it clear he wasn’t going to escape.
When she confronted him, she discovered he relied entirely on a translation app to communicate. After digging further, she learned that just a month earlier, this same driver had been placed out of service for failing the English-proficiency test required to maintain his CDL.
Obviously, simply suspending CDL licenses isn’t enough to keep our roads safe. The
@FMCSA
needs to start fining and even shutting down trucking companies that allow foreign drivers who failed required standards to continue operating and transporting cargo.
