Lindsey Halligan, the Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, has reportedly fired 2 senior prosecutors who resisted efforts to charge New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Elizabeth Yusi, head of the Norfolk criminal division, and her deputy Kristin Bird were dismissed Friday - just weeks after two other prosecutors were removed, including the office’s top national security lawyer.

Sources say the purge followed internal pushback against Halligan’s decision to indict James on bank fraud and false statement charges earlier this month.

Career prosecutors reportedly found “no evidence meeting probable cause”, but Halligan moved forward anyway - without their support.

James, who has denied all wrongdoing, called the case a politically motivated effort to weaponize the Justice Department against Trump’s critics.

She’s scheduled to be arraigned next Friday.

The firings deepen turmoil in one of the country’s most sensitive U.S. Attorney’s Offices - which handles national security and terrorism cases - and raise new alarms about political influence over federal prosecutions.
