Over the last few days, I’ve gotten a bunch of concerned calls from Michiganders about the escalating violence in Albania, among other European countries. The Albanian people have the right to protest peacefully and hold their elected officials accountable. Likewise, the Albanian government has a duty to uphold the rule of law, protect protestors against the excessive use of police force, clean up corruption, and respond to citizens’ concerns.
