  • You're  saying our "representatives" don't have a brain of their own?

    • The 'cloture rule' is only used to stop "Debate on the Floor of the Senate" to force a vote ..Cloture takes 60 votes to stop the filibuster (debate) and it  is a Senate rule that is subject to removal by a majority vote. The Veto is constitutional law, and cannot be removed by the senate alone.  It requires an amendment to be removed.

Any BIll or Act that the GOP manages to pass in both Houses of Congress is subject to a Presidential Veto... A Veto requires 67 votes in the US Senate to override... The best the GOP will be able to do in the midterms is to retain all 50 seats and to pick up all14 Democrat seats open for election... That will give the GOP a total of 64 Votes in the US Senate. 64 votes is 3 votes short of tje 67 votes needed to pass legislation over a Presidential Veto.

The RED WAVE everyone is counting on to save our government will meet a BLUE VETO WALL...  Pres. Biden will run away with the government using EO's and the Administrative States' regulatory powers to subvert the Constitution and statutory law... thru 'Executive Orders' and the Administrative States''regulatory authority.

Impeachment and conviction to remove a sitting President take 67 votes in the Senate... The GOP will not be able to remove Pres. Biden thru the Impeachment process.

    • Get his straight... The GOP can't force anything but a SHUTDOWN... not without the support of at least 17 Democrats.  ANY... any... appropriations act, bill or resolution must be VETO PROOF... that takes 67 votes.  The GOP has 50 last time I counted...  The GOP can NEGOTIATE the terms of a continuing resolution but the Dem's can simply let the governmetn shut own.. all non-essential elements.  However, Biden is likely to continue funding everything using EO's, with his MIDDLE FINGER  in the air and his thugs rioting in the streets.  we are not dealing with a stable man or party... the Marxist could care less about the results of a quasi-government shutdown... Heck, they may even want one... martial law looks good to them... Especially,  after losing both Houses in the next session of Congress... what better way to shut down Congress than martial law?.

Continuing resolutions (CR's) have become the go-to solution for funding government in a grid-locked Congress... in fact, our government has been funded by some form of CR more than not over the last decade.  CR's are becoming the normal means of funding the Government... They fund the government at the current levels.  In addition,  'Special Appropriations' are often used to fund emergencies, national secuirty concerns, and disasters,  such special appropriations often SNEAK IN  large sums of money to fund liberal causes... such as bailing out states, rebuilding Puerto Rico, forms of reparations for slavery, etc.   However, the general effect is to fund the government at the existing levels ... which we all know is too high.

    • I agree... shut the government down and let the population go on strike... remaining on strike until the entire government resigns... subject to new elections and a term limits amendment.  We don't need a shooting war we need a middle-class revolution... shut down the economy and watch big businesses suddenly back down and promote government reforms.

    • Forms of Congressional Action follow below...  Note the various forms of resolutions and how they operate.  Not all forms apply to the full governmetn and certainly not to appropriations.

The work of Congress is initiated by the introduction of a proposal in one of four principal forms: the bill, the joint resolution, the concurrent resolution, and the simple resolution.

      Bills

A bill is the form used for most legislation, whether permanent or temporary, general or special, public or private. A bill originating in the House of Representatives is designated by the letters “H.R.”, signifying “House of Representatives”, followed by a number that it retains throughout all its parliamentary stages. Bills are presented to the President for action when approved in identical form by both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

      Joint Resolutions

Joint resolutions may originate either in the House of Representatives or in the Senate. There is little practical difference between a bill and a joint resolution. Both are subject to the same procedure, except for a joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution. On approval of such a resolution by two-thirds of both the House and Senate, it is sent directly to the Administrator of General Services for submission to the individual states for ratification. It is not presented to the President for approval. A joint resolution originating in the House of Representatives is designated “H.J.Res.” followed by its individual number. Joint resolutions become law in the same manner as bills.

      Concurrent Resolutions

Matters affecting the operations of both the House of Representatives and Senate are usually initiated by means of concurrent resolutions. A concurrent resolution originating in the House of Representatives is designated “H.Con.Res.” followed by its individual number. On approval by both the House of Representatives and Senate, they are signed by the Clerk of the House and the Secretary of the Senate. They are not presented to the President for action.

      Simple Resolutions

A matter concerning the operation of either the House of Representatives or Senate alone is initiated by a simple resolution. A resolution affecting the House of Representatives is designated “H.Res.” followed by its number. They are not presented to the President for action.

  • Really?  So, the Dems simply refuse to pass any Appropriations Bill and  Congress ends up passing a CONTINUING  RESOLUTION  and full funding at the present level... or the government shuts down.  Where do we get our political strategist... wherever it is STOP!  Even after we take both houses there will not be enough votes in the US Senate to override a Presidential Veto.  Can anyone COUNT in the RNC... there are 50 Republican seats in the US Senate today... there are 14 Democrat Seats up for election...

Hello... 14 plus 50 is 64 ... the maximum number of seats the GOP can hold in the next session of the US Senate is 64.. It takes 67 votes to override a presidential veto... the GOP/RNC will not be able to pass a single bill or act without the help of at least 4 Democrats... the chances of that happening are ZERO, given the historic voting record of the Democrats... they manage to hold the line.. unlike the RNC/GOP.

Someone pull McConnell's chain and wake him up... the RED WAVE will meet a Blue Wall of Presidential vetos...   The government will most likely operate using a continuing resolution... Biden will continue to rule using 'Executive Orders' and the regulatory authority of the Administrative State... the Deep State and the Swamp.

  • You're going under the assumption that Congress listens to we, the voters. Unless your comment has the Benjamin's along with it, they are totally deaf to any other noise, and that's what they consider us as: noise. Over the last 3-5 years, I've become so soured on our 'leaders'  that, here in IN, anyway, I just might vote Libertarian.

  • Amen Brother, No more than 60 days at a time.

  • Why is Mitch McConnel even alloweed to be in Congress when he is Married to a Chineese Spy
