Gov. Josh Stein visited Chimney Rock Village today ahead of the second anniversary of Hurricane Helene.
First Lady Anna Stein posted a photo of the two having lunch at Chimney Rock Smokehouse, then deleted it.
The timing caught my attention because they were sitting on a deck built in part by the Amish and the nonprofit Spokes of Hope, which apparently did not receive a state grant for volunteers. The photo was deleted after a constituent mentioned it.
I also know they built it because I’ve been documenting the work there and Rutherford County for two years.
The restaurant is also owned by a Republican running for town council.
