  Hey Anthony, I honestly don't know how the entire system works, but this is what I've gathered so far (for the 2009 tax year).

   

  My fine was actually for 2 people (my wife and I), so a total of 24 months.  Then it's broken down depending on your age.  It's something like if you are 26 years old or less it's $62/mo and otherwise it's $82/mo per person.  Don't hold me to those exact figures however, I just remember it being something like that.

   

  It is ridiculous that the government is allowed to tell me I need to buy something, and they are the ones selling it -- are you kidding me?  

   

  I've spoken with many private insurance brokers and this healthcare nonsense is just as bad for their private business as it is for people like me.  The MA Health Connector is actually their competition!  They are selling plans.. so they are regulating the industry to make you buy something that they are selling.  

   

  Every time I say it or think it, I become even more disgusted and enraged as what our government is turning into.

   

  So I had 2 options; roll over and pay the fine like a sucker (like almost 53,000 other people did) -- or fight with the brains and voice that God gave me.  If a judge decides I owe the money then I'll pay, but until then that money is mine.
