Israelis Respond to Biased Coverage of Gaza Riots

{ freebeacon.com } ~ A couple of weeks before the Gaza riots began, the pro-Israel media watchdog CAMERA put up across from the New York Times building a massive billboard... "The New York Times At it AGAIN: Defaming Israel with distorted ‘news.'" Although its strategic location made it impossible to miss, Israelis nearly universally agree that the Old Gray Lady didn't get the message—and that the Times is but one of a slew of global media outlets copying from the same script, according to which IDF soldiers randomly kill peaceful protesters. While the Israeli public is accustomed to anti-Israel bias in the international media, coverage of the Gaza riots appears to have a struck a nerve, perhaps because foreign coverage of "peaceful protests" is so at odds with what Israelis see on their local TV. On Israeli TV they see swastika-painted kite bombs setting alight Israeli fields, bullets lodged into the window sills of nearby Sderot homes, Hamas fence-cutting units crying "Khaybar, Khaybar"—a battle cry referring to the Muslim massacre of Jews in that Arabian town in 628 A.D. When these aspects of the story don't make it to Western media outlets, Israelis are understandably aggrieved. Nizar Amer, a deputy spokesperson at Israel's foreign ministry, says that from the Israeli government's point of view, most of the coverage in the international media fails to provide the full picture. "You didn't see many media outlets saying that Hamas led and organized this campaign. There's a gap between what's happening on the ground and what the media is reporting." A pundit on Israel’s Channel 20, a news channel with a nationalistic bent, argued that the country should start ejecting journalists who print falsehoods about Israel. Amer says given the importance of freedom of the press, he doesn't see Israel doing that...

Confusion reigns as Iraqis form

In short, it’s a free for all. And that’s good: How many Arab countries have repeatedly now had democratic and peaceful transfers of power? And in how many countries do those ousted compete to return to power through the ballot box rather than force of arms? As for the results: No party came near a majority, but Iraqi firebrand cleric Muqtada al-Sadr’s list came out on top, and incumbent Haider al-Abadi and former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki were disappointed in their results. Some of those who did not make the cut complained of cheating or voting machine irregularities, and cheating certainly marred voting in Iraqi Kurdistan, where the Barzani and Talabani families refuse to relax their death grip on power or the region’s treasury, democratic will be damned. But the reason why Sadr did proportionately well relative to other power blocks is that Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, tired of corruption among the political class, told people that voting was their right to engage in or ignore, just as Iraqis have free will to drink or choose not to drink a glass of water placed in front of them. { americanthinker.com } ~ Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals is considered a bible to the left, a how-to guide for community organizing and activism. Barack liar-nObama was an Alinsky protégé before, during, and after his presidency. liar-nObama used the rules to his advantage, advancing his left-wing agenda.

The left, despite conventional wisdom, has no monopoly on Alinsky's rules. Instead these rules can be used by the right, also as blueprint for effecting change.

The dirty little secret is that Alinsky has little in common with modern leftists. As Ralph Benko writes, "Alinsky was an aggressively anti-communist, anti-big government, populist with a healthy contempt for liberals." He would more likely be found at a Tea Party rally wearing a MAGA hat than at a resistance march wearing a pink pussy hat.

President Trump is reaping the results this month of his foreign policy initiatives. He blew up liar-nObama's sketchy Iran deal. The U.S. embassy opened in Jerusalem, fulfilling a promise made, but never kept, by a slew of recent U.S. presidents. Trump is hopefully sitting down with North Korea's Kim Jung-un after Kim pledged to scrap his nuke program, despite media reports of last-minute attempts by Kim to scuttle the talks. Trump is keeping and following through on promises his predecessors have made but tossed aside due to lack of resolve or political expediency.

All in all, it's been a few good weeks for a rube, unfit for the presidency, out of his depth in conducting foreign affairs, with a temperament to make war as opposed to peace. So how did it happen? Trump, whether intentionally or not, is following Alinsky's rules in shaking up the world, effecting the change that eluded his predecessors, despite their Ivy League pedigrees, silver tongues, and sharp pant creases.

Let's look at a few of the rules Trump has used to turn the new world order upside-down.

"Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have."

Remember how Trump told Kim his nuclear button is bigger than Kim's? And how Trump had no qualms about unleashing the fury of the U.S. military on Afghanistan and Syria – not a ground war, but a salvo of missiles and bombs, and threats for far worse from the U.S. if necessary? Does anyone think Iran and North Korea want to call Trump's bluff?

"Never go outside the expertise of your people."

Trump is sticking to what he knows best – negotiating, financing, and playing hardball. He is staying far away from the nuance of the hanoi-Kerry/ liar-nObama cabal, instead delivering a simple and straightforward message to his geopolitical foes. This message is easy to understand, including by the American people, who can smell hanoi-John Kerry's nonsensical diplomatic-speak from a mile away.

"Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy."

North Korea and Iran know only threats and intimidation, tactics that have kept past U.S. presidents dancing to their tune. Trump added a new tactic, something not used by past administrations, which they haven't yet had to contend with: economic strength. Trump is using U.S. economic might as a national security club, imposing sanctions and tariffs to squeeze countries opposed to his agenda. Trump took it farther, threatening to stop doing business with countries continuing to do business with North Korea or Iran. China, France, and Germany will think twice before supporting N.K. or Iran over the U.S.

"Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules."

Past administrations have promised to contain N.K. and Iran. They also conveniently, on the campaign trail, promised to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem. All Trump is doing is fulfilling the promises made by others. Those howling with outrage look like fools for complaining about Trump doing what they themselves promised to do.

"Ridicule is man's most potent weapon."

This is President Trump's forte. Using his Twitter account and speeches, calling out Little Rocket Man and the hypocrisy and incompetence of past administrations, he has his political opponents on their heels, playing defense. This is not presidential, according to the pinstriped suit crowd in Washington, D.C. Trump is uncouth and crude, sullying the office of the president. Yet he is getting stuff done, at a far faster rate than any of his predecessors. Willie Brown and David Brooks, liberal Democrat and swamp-dweller, respectively, have recently written about Trump's popularity and effectiveness and the dangers for Democrats in underestimating him and his appeal to voters.

"A good tactic is one your people enjoy."

Just watch one of his rallies. Supporters queue up hours before, and most never even make it to the arena. Trump is funny and entertaining. Imagine either of the Presidents Bush holding a similar rally. Or a President hanoi-Kerry or scum-Gore. That would be as exciting as watching paint dry.

Trump's opponents don't like his tactics because they are defenseless against them, reduced to braying about Russia or Stormy or calling for impeachment. But his supporters can't get enough of Trump calling out the media and the Deep State.

"Keep the pressure on. Never let up."

Trump is ticking off his promises one by one. He hasn't reversed course, even if Congress stands in his way, as in the border wall. Much of what he campaigned on is happening – Paris climate accords, Iran nuke deal, trade deals, ISIS, judicial picks, and so on.

"The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself."

Trump frequently brags on his military and willingness to use it. When pulling out of the Iran nuke deal, he said, "If the regime continues its nuclear aspirations, it will have bigger problems than it has ever had before." Does Iran want to call Trump's bluff on that? By now, the world knows that Trump says what he means and means what he says.

"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

From Kim in North Korea to crooked liar-Hillary, Mueller, Comey, and the Deep-Staters trying to destroy his presidency, he calls these people out. He names names and misdeeds, via tweets and impromptu remarks. The enemies of Donald Trump become the enemies of his supporters, personalized and polarized.

President Trump, knowingly or unknowingly, has co-opted Alinsky's Rules for Radicals, using them effectively to advance his agenda. How ironic that the tactics of the left are being used against the leftists themselves. The left knows the rules only for playing offense. Now that the rules are being used against it, it is at a loss as to how to react and respond.

For Trump-supporters, typically being on the losing end of Alinsky's rules, it's a refreshing treat to finally be on offense, scoring touchdowns, leaving Democrats and NeverTrumps babbling and unable to stop or slow the Trump train.

America's Corrupt Collaborative Leftmedia

by Arnold Ahlert:  Last week, a trio of news stories reminded Americans that the Leftmedia is fundamentally corrupt. Moreover, as long as Donald Trump occupies the White House, “journalistic integrity” will remain an oxymoron. In short, The Narrative must be served.

             Few things stir Leftmedia passions more than the opportunity to bash Israel, the only nation on earth routinely criticized for defending its right to exist. Add Trump and his decision to make good on the 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act to the mix, and promulgating The Narrative about “innocent” Palestinians being slaughtered by “bloodthirsty” Jews becomes impossible to resist.
               Last Monday, millions of Americans saw a long-overdue embassy relocation celebration. The New York Times’ Michelle Goldberg saw something entirely different. “Trump has empowered what’s worst in Israel,” she declared, “and as long as he is president, it may be that Israel can kill Palestinians, demolish their homes and appropriate their land with impunity.”
               The Times’ editorial board was equally invested in denigrating the moment. “The world did not witness a new dawn of peace and security for two peoples who have dreamed of both for so long,” it stated. “Instead, it watched as Israeli soldiers shot and killed scores of Palestinian protesters, and wounded thousands more, along Israel’s boundary with the Gaza Strip.”
               The New York Daily News took on Ivanka Trump. A picture of her smiling on last Monday’s cover was accompanied by the headline, “Daddy’s Little Ghoul.”
               All of these media hacks — along with some prominent House Democrats — also remained wedded to the shopworn assertion that any confrontation between Palestinians and the Israeli military forces is all about Israel’s use of “disproportionate” force against “innocent and "unarmed” protesters. That is a lie. Moreover it is a contemptible construct that implies the only “reasonable” confrontation requires more dead Israelis. To make it “fair.”
               On Wednesday, The Narrative was undone, courtesy of Hamas official Salah Bardawil, who told the Palestinian Baladna news outlet that 50 of the 62 Palestinians reported killed during the Gaza border riots were members of the terrorist group.
               The same terrorist group whose founding charter, though “revised” in 2017, still calls for the annihilation of Israel.
               Moving on, we turn to the media distortions engendered by Trump referring to ruthless MS-13 gangbangers as “animals.” MS-13 quickly became immigrants in general. “Trump lashed out at undocumented immigrants,” asserted The New York Times. Trump “ramps up rhetoric on undocumented immigrants,” stated USA Today. “Trump Refers To Immigrants As ‘Animals.’ Again,” declared the Huffington Post. Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson insisted that by “calling immigrants ‘animals,’ Trump evokes an ugly history of dehumanization.”
               Genuine dehumanization is owned by MS-13. These thugs are not only responsible for killing sprees like the one they’ve engendered on Long Island, NY, their methods of execution are utterly barbaric. Victims have been decapitated, had their hearts cut out, been stabbed more than 100 times, and hacked to death with machetes. The group also threatened to execute police officers following the arraignment of their East Coast leader on murder and drug trafficking charges.
               How self-righteously phony are the media? CNN commentator Ana Navarro, who joined the attack against Trump last week, apparently forgot something she said during the 2016 presidential campaign. “Should Donald Trump drop out of the race? Yes,” she tweeted Oct. 10, 2016. “He should drop out of the human race. He is an animal. Apologies to animals.”
               “Conservative” Washington Post blogger Jennifer Rubin was equally hypocritical, also jumping on the “dehumanization” bandwagon, but likening Trump to a “trapped animal” in a 2017 column for the Chicago Tribune.
               Unfortunately for a nation that endures a free press  devolving into a Ministry of Truth, both of the above efforts pale in comparison to the full-court press engendered by a media desperate to shape The Narrative attached to the liar-nObama administration’s heinous weaponization of the law enforcement and intelligence communities. Weaponization employed in the seemingly criminal effort to either push a felonious liar-Hillary Clinton over the presidential finish line, or delegitimize Trump to the point of negating the election results.
               Anyone remember when The Narrative was about how  ridiculous Trump was for asserting the liar-nObama administration was spying on him, and/or officials in his election campaign? The New York Times called it an effort “to turn attention away from the Russia investigation.”
               Last Wednesday, the same New York Times outed a secret operation known as “Crossfire Hurricane” that “obtained phone records and other documents using national security letters — a secret type of subpoena.” It further revealed that “at least one government informant met several times with [Carter] Page and [George] Papadopoulos.”
               A sudden burst of honesty? As Wall Street Journal columnist Kimberly Strassel explains, the piece was an “apologia” that referenced the spying in what was an “otherwise glowing profile of the noble bureau — and dismissed it as no big deal.”
               And just in case Americans weren’t clear on that point, the Times followed up Saturday with a piece whose title was an op-ed masquerading as news. “F.B.I. Used Informant to Investigate Russia Ties to Campaign, Not to Spy, as Trump Claims,” it stated. And like The Washington Post, which also joined the informant fray on Saturday, both papers refused to publish the name of the infiltrator to maintain the DOJ/FBI Narrative that doing so would compromise his safety.
               Columnist Mollie Hemingway eviscerates such claims, explaining the same law enforcement officials “leaked specific information that could directly identify the source on three separate occasions to reporters at the Washington Post and New York Times.” Thus on Sunday it was widely reported that University of Cambridge professor Stefan Halper was the mole planted in the Trump campaign.
               Andrew McCarthy was equally disgusted, asserting the Times was “crafting the media-Democrat narrative” to obfuscate the reality that the liar-nObama administration “used its  counterintelligence powers to investigate the opposition party’s presidential campaign.” (italics original)
               That’s a scandal that dwarfs Watergate, and it implicates a number of key players in the liar-nObama administration. Yet if one is a political hack desperate to serve the imploding Narrative, one behaves like Times columnist Paul Krugman. Despite his own newspaper providing clues to easily out Halper, he blamed …  Republicans. “We’ve basically crossed the line into treason now — and a whole party is acquiescing,” he tweeted.
               We have indeed crossed a line. “One of the more notable differences between Watergate and the metastasizing scandals involving the FBI, our intelligence agencies, and the liar-nObama administration … is that the media exposed Watergate,” columnist Roger L. Simon reminds us. “They aided and abetted the current transgressions.” (italics original)
               It won’t help. The DOJ Inspector General’s upcoming report about liar-Hillary Clinton’s email probe may precipitate referrals for criminal prosecution. Under the compact, states pledge to allocate all their electoral votes to the winner of the nationwide popular vote in presidential elections. It would not go into effect until it's adopted by states representing at least 270 electoral votes, a majority...What a big mistake that is going to be. Trade War Ceasefire? 

by Nate Jackson:  From the beginning, we argued that President Donald Trump’s planned tariffs were a negotiating chip with China. That became even more clear over the weekend, as China announced that it would buy “significantly” more U.S. goods and services. According to a White House statement, that will include “meaningful increases in United States agriculture and energy exports” with the goal being to “substantially reduce the United States trade deficit in goods with China.” Let’s hope it also brings back some American jobs.

             Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin declared that the U.S. was “putting the trade war on hold” as negotiations continue, but U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer insisted tariffs remain on the table if needed to “protect our technology.” Good cop, bad cop.
               Keep in mind that trade is tied together with negotiations over the nuclear weapons program of China’s puppet, North Korea. The upcoming June 12 summit between Trump and Kim Jong-un is crucial, and sorting things out on the trade front with China is key. Hence other chess moves like canceling a planned training exercise with South Korea.
               In short, this isn’t nearly as simple as the mainstream media sometimes portrays. Trump’s negotiations are all part of a long game.

On the other side, evidence has emerged in the past year that makes it clear there were organized efforts to collude against candidate Donald Trump–and then President Trump. For example:

*Anti-Russian Ukrainians allegedly helped coordinate and execute a campaign against Trump in partnership with the Democratic National Committee and news reporters.
*A Yemen-born ex-British spy reportedly delivered political opposition research against Trump to reporters, Sen. rino-John McCain, and the FBI; the latter of which used the material–in part–to obtain wiretaps against one or more Trump-related associates.
*There were orchestrated leaks of anti-Trump information and allegations to the press, including by ex-FBI Director James Comey.
*The U.S. intel community allegedly engaged in questionable surveillance practices and politially-motivated “unmaskings” of U.S. citizens, including Trump officials.
*Alleged conflicts of interests have surfaced regarding FBI officials who cleared liar-Hillary Clinton for mishandling classified information and who investigated Trump’s alleged Russia ties.

But it’s not so easy to find a timeline pertinent to the investigations into these events.

U.S. intel community vastly expands its surveillance authority, giving itself permission to spy on Americans who do nothing more than “mention a foreign target in a single, discrete communication.” Intel officials also begin storing and entering into a searchable database sensitive intelligence on U.S. citizens whose communications are accidentally or “incidentally” captured during surveillance of foreign targets. Prior to this point, such intelligence was supposed to be destroyed to protect the constitutional privacy rights the U.S. citizens. However, it’s required that names U.S. citizens be hidden or “masked” –even inside U.S. intel agencies –to prevent abuse.

2012
July 1, 2012: Secretary of State liar-Hillary Clinton improperly uses unsecured, personal email domain to email President liar-nObama from Russia.

2013
June 2013: FBI interviews U.S. businessman Carter Page, who’s lived and worked in Russia, regarding his ongoing contacts with Russians. Page reportedly tells FBI agents their time would be better spent investigating Boston Marathon bombing which the FBI’s Andrew McCabe helped lead. Page later claims his remark prompts FBI retaliatory campaign against him. The FBI, under McCabe, will later wiretap Page after Page becomes a Donald Trump campaign adviser.

FBI secretly records suspected Russian industrial spy Evgeny Buryakov. It’s later reported that Page helped FBI build the case.

Sept. 4, 2013: James Comey becomes FBI Director, succeeding Robert Mueller.

2014
Russia invades Ukraine. Ukraine steps up hiring of U.S. lobbyists to make its case against Russia and obtain U.S. aid. Russia also continues its practice of using U.S. lobbyists.

Ukraine forms National Anti-Corruption Bureau as a condition to receive U.S. aid. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau later signs evidence-sharing agreement with FBI related to Trump-Russia probe.

Ukrainian-American Alexandra Chalupa, a paid consultant for the Democratic National Committee (DNC), begins researching lobbyist Paul Manafort’s Russia ties.

FBI investigates, and then wiretaps, Paul Manafort for allegedly not properly disclosing Russia-related work. FBI fails to make a case, according to CNN, and discontinues wiretap.

August 2014: State Dept. turns over 15,000 pages of documents to Congressional Benghazi committee, revealing former secretary of state liar-Hillary Clinton used private server for government email. Her mishandling of classified info on this private system becomes subject of FBI probe.

2015
FBI opens investigation into Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe, including for donations from a Chinese businessman and liar-Clinton Foundation donor.

FBI official Andrew McCabe meets with Gov. McAuliffe, a close liar-Clinton ally. Afterwards, “McAuliffe-aligned political groups donated about $700,000 to Mr. McCabe’s wife…for her campaign to become a Democrat state Senator in Virginia.” The fact of the McAuliffe-related donations to wife of FBI’s McCabe—while FBI was investigating McAuliffe and liar-Clinton—later becomes the subject of conflict of interest inquiry by Inspector General.

Feb. 9, 2015: U.S. Senate forms Ukrainian caucus to further Ukrainian interests. Sen. rino-John McCain (R-Ariz.) is a member.

March 4, 2015: New York Times breaks news about liar-Clinton’s improper handling of classified email as secretary of state.

In internal emails, liar-Clinton campaign chairman and former liar-nObama adviser John Podesta suggests liar-nObama withhold liar-Clinton’s emails from Congressional Benghazi committee under executive privilege.

March 2015: Attorney General Loretta Lynch privately directs FBI Director James Comey to call FBI liar-Clinton probe a “matter” rather than an “investigation.” Comey follows the instruction, though he later testifies that it made him “queasy.”

Oct. 2015: President liar-nObama uses a “confidentiality tradition” to keep his Benghazi emails with liar-Hillary Clinton secret.

March 25, 2016: Ukrainian-American operative for Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chalupa meets with top Ukrainian officials at Ukrainian Embassy in Washington D.C. to “expose ties between Trump, top campaign aide Paul Manafort and Russia,” according to Politico. Chalupa previously worked for the liar-Clinton administration.

Ukrainian embassy proceeds to work “directly with reporters researching Trump, Manafort and Russia to point them in the right directions,” according to an embassy official though other officials later deny engaging in election-related activities.

March 29, 2016: Trump campaign hires Paul Manafort as manager of July Republican convention.

March 30, 2016: Ukrainian-American Democratic operative Alexandra Chalupa briefs Democratic National Committee (DNC) staff on Russia ties to Paul Manafort and Trump.

With “DNC’s encouragement,” Chalupa asks Ukrainian embassy to arrange meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to discuss Manafort’s lobbying for Ukraine’s former president Viktor Yanukovych. The embassy declines to arrange meeting but becomes “helpful” in trading info and leads.

Ukrainian embassy officials and Democratic operative Chalupa “coordinate an investigation with the liar-Hillary team” into Paul Manafort, according to a source in Politico. This effort reportedly includes working with U.S. media.

April 2016: There’s a second breach of Democratic National Committee computers.

Washington Free Beacon breaks off deal with Glenn Simpson’s Fusion GPS for political opposition research against Trump.

liar-Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee lawyer Mark Elias and his law firm, Perkins Coie, hire Fusion GPS for anti-Trump political research project.

Chalupa begins working with investigative reporter Michael Isikoff, according to her later account.

April 10, 2016: In national TV interview, President liar-nObama states that liar-Clinton did not intend to harm national security when she mishandled classified emails. FBI Director James Comey later concludes that liar-Clinton should not face charges because she did not intend to harm national security.

Around this time, the FBI begins drafting Comey’s remarks closing liar-Clinton email investigation, though liar-Clinton had not yet been interviewed.

April 12, 2016: Ukrainian parliament member Olga Bielkova and a colleague meet with Sen. rino-John McCain associate David Kramer with the rino-McCain Institute. Bielkova also meets with Liz Zentos of liar-nObama’s National Security Council, and State Department official Michael Kimmage.

April 28, 2016: Ukrainian-American Democratic operative Chalupa is invited to discuss her research about Paul Manafort with 68 investigative journalists from Ukraine at Library of Congress for Open World Leadership Center, a U.S. congressional agency. Chalupa invites investigative reporter Michael Isikoff to “connects him to the Ukrainians.”

After the event, reporter Isikoff accompanies Chalupa to Ukrainian embassy reception.

May 3, 2016: Ukrainian-American Democratic operative Chalupa emails Democratic National Committee (DNC) that she’ll share sensitive info about Paul Manafort “offline” including “a big Trump component…that will hit in next few weeks.”

May 4, 2016: Trump locks up Republican nomination.

May 19, 2016: Paul Manafort is named Trump campaign chair.

May 23, 2016: FBI probe into Virginia governor and liar-Clinton ally Terry McAuliffe becomes public. McAuliffe is ultimately not charged with a crime.

Justice Department Inspector General confirms it’s looking into FBI’s Andrew McCabe for alleged conflicts of interest in handling of liar-Clinton and Gov. McAuliffe probes in light of McAuliffe directing campaign donations to McCabe’s wife.

June 2016: Fusion GPS’ Glenn Simpson hires Yemen-born ex-British spy Christopher Steelefor anti-Trump political opposition research project. Steele uses info from Russian sources “close to Putin” to compile unverified “dossier” later provided to reporters and FBI, which the FBI uses to obtain secret wiretap.

The Guardian and Heat Street report that the FBI applied for a FISA warrant in June 2016 to “monitor four members of the Trump team suspected of irregular contacts with Russian officials” but that the “initial request was denied.” 

June 7, 2016: liar-Hillary Clinton locks up the Democrat nomination.

June 9, 2016: Meeting in Trump Tower includes Donald Trump Jr., Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner with Russian lawyer who said she has political opposition research on liar-Clinton. No research was ultimately provided. According to CNN, the FBI has not yet restarted a wiretap against Manafort but will soon do so.

June 10, 2016: Democratic National Committee (DNC) tells employees that its computer system has been hacked. DNC blames Russia but refuses to let FBI examine its systems.

June 30, 2016: FBI circulates internal draft of public remarks for FBI Director Comey to announce closing of liar-  Clinton investigation. It refers to Mrs. liar-Clinton’s “extensive” use of her personal email, including “from the territory of sophisticated adversaries,” and a July 1, 2012 email to President liar-nObama from Russia. The draft concludes it’s possible that hostile actors gained access toliar-Clinton’s email account.

Comey’s remarks are revised to replace reference to “the President” with the phrase: “another senior government official.” That reference, too, is removed from the final draft.

Attorney General Lynch tells FBI she plans to publicly announce that she’ll accept whatever recommendation FBI Director Comey makes regarding charges against liar-Clinton.

July 2016: Ukraine minister of internal affairs Arsen Avakov attacks Trump and Trump campaign adviser Paul Manafort on Twitter and Facebook, calling Trump “an even bigger danger to the US than terrorism.”

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk writes on Facebook that Trump has “challenged the very values of the free world.”

Carter Page travels to Russia to give a university commencement address. Fusion GPS political opposition research would later quote Russian sources as saying Page met with Russian officials, which Page denies under oath and is not proven.

March 20, 2017: FBI Director Comey tells House Intelligence Committee he has “no information that supports” the President’s tweets about “alleged wiretapping directed at him by the prior administration. “We have looked carefully inside the FBI,” Comey says. “The answer is the same for the Department of Justice and all its components.”

FBI Director Comey tells Congress there is “salacious and unverified” material in the Fusion GPS dossier used by FBI, in part, to obtain Carter Page wiretap. Under FBI “Woods Procedures,” only facts carefully verified by the FBI are allowed to be presented to court to obtain wiretaps.

March 22, 2017: Chairman of House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) publicly announces he’s seen evidence of Trump associates being “incidentally” surveilled by liar-nObama intel officials; and their names being “unmasked” and illegally leaked. Nunes briefs President Trump and holds a news conference. He’s criticized for doing so. An ethics investigation is opened into his actions but later clears him of wrongdoing.

{ townhall.com } ~ After Pyongyang railed this week that the U.S.-South Korean Max Thunder military drills were a rehearsal for an invasion of the North, and imperiled the Singapore summit, the Pentagon dialed them back.

The B-52 exercises alongside F-22 stealth fighters were canceled.

But Pyongyang had other objections.

Sunday, NSC adviser John Bolton spoke of a "Libyan model" for the North's disarmament, referring to Moammar Gadhafi's surrender of all his weapons of mass destruction in 2004. The U.S. was invited into Libya to pick them up and cart them off, whereupon sanctions were lifted.

As Libya was subsequently attacked by NATO and Gadhafi lynched, North Korea denounced Bolton and all this talk of the "Libyan model" of unilateral disarmament.

North Korea wants a step-by-step approach, each concession by Pyongyang to be met by a U.S. concession. And Bolton sitting beside Trump, and across the table from Kim Jong Un in Shanghai, may be inhibiting.

What was predictable and predicted has come to pass.

If we expected Kim to commit at Singapore to Bolton's demand for "complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization," and a swift follow-through, we were deluding ourselves.

At Singapore, both sides will have demands, and both will have to offer concessions, if there is to be a deal.

What does Kim Jong Un want?

An end to U.S. and South Korean military exercises and sanctions on the North, trade and investment, U.S. recognition of his regime, a peace treaty, and the eventual removal of U.S. bases and troops.

He is likely to offer an end to the testing of nuclear weapons and long-range missiles, no transfer of nuclear weapons or strategic missiles to third powers, a drawdown of troops on the DMZ, and the opening of North Korea's borders to trade and travel.

As for his nuclear weapons and the facilities to produce them, these are Kim's crown jewels. These brought him to the attention of the world and the Americans to the table. These are why President Trump is flying 10,000 miles to meet and talk with him.

And, unlike Gadhafi, Kim is not going to give them up.

Assuming the summit comes off June 12, this is the reality Trump will face in Singapore: a North Korea willing to halt the testing of nukes and ICBMs and to engage diplomatically and economically.

As for having Americans come into his country, pick up his nuclear weapons, remove them and begin intrusive inspections to ensure he has neither nuclear bombs nor the means to produce, deliver or hide them, that would be tantamount to a surrender by Kim.

Trump is not going to get that. And if he adopts a Bolton policy of "all or nothing," he is likely to get nothing at all.

Yet, thanks to Trump's threats and refusal to accept a "frozen conflict" on the Korean peninsula, the makings of a real deal are present, if Trump does not make the perfect the enemy of the good.

For there is nothing North Korea is likely to demand that cannot be granted, as long as the security of South Korea is assured to the degree that it can be assured, while living alongside a nuclear-armed North.

Hence, when Kim cavils or balks in Singapore, as he almost surely will, at any demand for a pre-emptive surrender of his nuclear arsenal, Trump should have a fallback position.

If we cannot have everything we want, what can we live with?

Moreover, while we are running a risk today, an intransigent North Korea that walks out would be running a risk as well.

A collapse in talks between Kim and the United States and Kim and South Korea would raise the possibility that he and his Chinese patrons could face an East Asia Cold War where South Korea and Japan also have acquired nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them.

In the last analysis, the United States should be willing to accept both the concessions to the North that the South is willing to make and the risks from the North that the South is willing to take.

For, ultimately, they are the one who are going to have to live on the same peninsula with Kim and his nukes.

Trump ran on a foreign policy that may fairly be described as a Trump Doctrine: In the post-post-Cold War era, the United States will start looking out for America first.

This does not mean isolationism or the abandonment of our allies. It does mean a review and reassessment of all the guarantees we have issued to go to war on behalf of other countries, and the eventual transfer of responsibility for the defense of our friends over to our friends.

In the future, the U.S. will stop futilely imploring allies to do more for their own defense and will begin telling them that their defense is primarily their own responsibility. Our allies must cease to be our dependents.

Fed-Up Citizens March Against Cali Homeless Shelter

State Sets Massive Precedent, Passes Law 

To Effectively Ban The NSA

The Fourth Amendment Rights Protection Act, or HB4430, will go into effect next month after it passed the Michigan state legislature with overwhelming support and only one “no” vote. The text of the bill states that its purpose is “to prohibit this state and certain other governmental agents, employees, and entities in this state from assisting a federal agency in obtaining certain forms of data without a warrant; and to prohibit certain uses of certain data collected without a warrant.” According to the new law, the state and its political subdivisions “shall not assist, participate with, or provide material support or resources to a federal agency to enable it to collect or to facilitate in the collection or use of a person’s electronic data or metadata,” unless at least or more of the following criteria are met...

And Israeli soldiers peacefully defended their country leaving multiple Hamas attackers at peace. The Great Hamas March of Return came with instructions to, "bring a knife, dagger, or handgun, if you have one, and to leave them under your clothes and not use them or show them, except if you identify one of the soldiers or settlers."

"We will tear down the border," Hamas Prime Minister Yahya Sinwar had peacefully vowed. "And we will tear out their hearts from their bodies." 

But the only hearts his terror thugs tore out were already bleeding with sympathy for Islamic terrorists and bile for the Israelis they were there to kill with those knives, daggers and guns.

The Hamas mob chanted, “Allahu Akbar” and the genocidal racist threat of, “Khaybar Khaybar, ya yahud," a reference to the primal Islamic massacre of the Jews. While IDF soldiers held back the invaders, the jets of the IAF targeted the snake’s head striking Hamas compounds and outposts. By 5.30 PM, the Hamas organizers changed course and began urging the thugs away from further fence attacks. 

Hamas had offered $100 to every rioter. During previous violent assaults back in April, the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group had been offering $200 to anyone shot by Israelis, $500 for severe injuries and $3,000 to the dead. 

$100 a day may not seem like a lot, but the Israeli teen soldiers they’re trying to kill, earn $13 a day. 

The Hamas supporting thugs are depicted as helpless, starving victims who can barely lift the firebombs they’re throwing at Israelis, but they make ten times as much as the Israeli soldiers they are there to kill. 

Hamas can write all those checks to its aspiring killers because the cash is coming from Iran. 

Last year, Senwar, whom Israel had released in exchange for captured Israeli hostage Gilad Shalit, had boasted that Iran was once again "the largest backer financially and militarily". 

That comes out to an estimated $100 million a year. 

With as many as 50,000 Hamas supporters in Gaza participating in the day’s attacks at $100 a head, over 1,000 allegedly injured at least $200 each, and another 52 allegedly killed at $3,000 each there is no reason to treat Hamas casualty figures coming out of Gaza as anything other than propaganda, the whole thing cost Hamas and Iran $5.3 million. The unmarked cargo plane filled with foreign currency that liar-nObama dispatched to Iran carried $400 million. That was part of a known $1.7 billion cash payment. 

But the total liar-nObama terror payments to Tehran may go as high as $33.6 billion. 

Despite media misreporting, the Hamas mass fence attacks began back on March 30 and even though their Great March of Return was supposed to end in mid-May, the show proved to be unexpectedly popular in Tehran, Brussels and Berkeley, and the attacks will continue through at least June. 

Even a single one of liar-nObama’s cash smuggling runs to Iran is enough to fund attacks just like these for two and a half months. And the $100,000 that an Iranian group offered to anyone who blows up the embassy? That illegal cash run can pay for bounties on every American diplomatic facility in the world. 

Lefties bemoaning Israel’s moral authority can look up and follow the money trail from Iran’s IRGC (the terror mothership whom liar-nObama resisted sanctioning), to the unmarked cargo planes from liar-nObama, and to their own greasy little fingers that pushed the button or marked the ballot for him. The Israeli teens in IDF khaki with rules of engagement for using force longer than some graduate thesis papers are dealing with a problem from hell created by Democrat voters who wanted to feel inspired by liar-nObama. 

The cost of that inspiration today ran to dozens dead. If the Israeli teens shooting in self-defense lack moral authority, where is the moral authority of the liar-nObama voters whose votes financed the attack? 

Those Israeli teens in green earn $408 a month if they're in a combat unit. Before a raise a few years ago, they weren't even earning $300. Support units earn $327 and rear units $225. Not only is that far lower than the average civilian salary, but if often hardly covers living expenses. Dodging the draft isn’t hard these days. The average red-shirted hipster does it easily, putting in a few years at a fake startup before heading to Berlin to protest Zionism. And those who serve know if that they make a single mistake, if they shoot an attacker who turns out not to be armed, Israeli leftists will see them jailed. 

Hamas supporters charge at them for $100 a day. And IDF soldiers hold the line for $400 a month. 

So why for $400 a month, do Israeli soldiers face down mobs of tens of thousands of Hamas supporters baying for their blood? The average IDF soldier who reports for duty comes from one of the Judean communities slurred as settlements under attack by Hamas or from development towns in the north under attack by Hezbollah. He is often a religious settler who sees the hand of God in the high hills or a descendant of Mizrahi immigrants whose recent ancestors were oppressed under Muslim rule. 

When your family lives under fire, holding the line on the Hamas mob isn’t an abstract idea of duty. 

The Hamas invaders were there to kill Israelis. The Israeli soldiers were there to protect Israelis. The attackers were invading someone else’s land while the defenders were protecting their own country. 

That’s why Hamas has to pay its rioting thugs ten times as much as Israeli soldiers earn to attack them. 

While the $100 a day thugs threw rocks and firebombs, the professional terrorists hung back waiting for a breach in the fence. Some were caught planting bombs. And killed. They are among the 10 known Hamas terrorists killed in the Gaza fighting and bemoaned by the media as victims of a Jewish massacre. 

The $400 a month Israeli teenager with a rifle is there as the front line in case the fence is breached. Hamas wants to take more hostages to free more terrorists. If it can’t do that, it will kill them. And if the attackers make it past the soldiers, they will hit Israeli towns and villages hoping to kill anyone they find. 

While the fence holds up, the Hamas terrorists and their supporters sent flaming kites in the hopes of setting Israeli farms and fields on fire. One such attack had already destroyed 400 acres of wheat. 

A sympathetic New York Times piece from last week described the "flaming-kite squadrons" prepping hundreds of fire kites, but unfortunately, "The wind was blowing the other way." 

“The wind is still against us,” Ismail al-Qrinawi whined. “We are waiting for it to pick up so we can fly tens of kites and burn their crops." Instead, "the direction of the wind not only thwarted the kites, but also blew copious amounts of Israeli tear gas toward the protesters." 

Pharaoh and his legions had the same bad experience with the wind. G-d must be an Islamophobe. 

Hamas organized the invasion. It urged its human shields to head to the fence telling them that the Israelis had run away. That was the same way Egypt’s Nasser had tricked Jordan’s King Hussein during the Six Day War. Instead of defeating the Israelis and salvaging Gaza, Nasser’s scheme led to the liberation of Jerusalem, along with Judea and Samaria by the indigenous Jewish people. And it also had disastrous consequences for this latest attempted invasion by Egyptian-Jordanian settlers into Israel. 

While the Hamas supporters were destroying their own crossing point infrastructure, as they had previously trashed their own gas lines, the United States was inaugurating the opening of an embassy in Jerusalem. Despite media misinformation, the riots predated the embassy and will postdate it. 

The media used contrasting photos of the embassy opening and the Pallywood fake photos of protesters crying for the cameras and pretending to limp on crutches to smear Israel and America. And as usual they missed the real story. While Israelis and Americans were building something, Muslim terrorists were destroying everything they could get their hands on. While Rabbis and Pastors blessed, Imams cursed. 

Hamas Sheikh Iyad Abu Funun had sworn on the Koran that, "We will not leave a single Jew on our Islamic land." It did not matter, “whether left-Wing, right-wing, secular, religious, or extremist.” 

That is what this is about. 

The dedication of the embassy is a leap of faith. Faith in building rather than destruction. Faith in life instead of death. Faith in the God who watches over Jerusalem, not the Allah for whom Gaza burns.

The island has places where the destruction is so vast, so overwhelming, a visitor wonders if this is really the tropical paradise called Hawaii. The volcanic activity has recently increased.  Earthquakes, new fissures opening. Lava engulfing houses, roads, cars. Major evacuations, with new reports every day.  Most of us have seen some of it. { townhall.com } ~ Here in Australia, "Question Time" has long been one of my favorite exercises of parliamentary democracy. The prime minister and government ministers appear before other elected members in support of their policies, while the opposition asks pointed and sometimes funny questions in an effort to belittle those policies.

At Westminster in London, "Question Time" is great political entertainment. It sometimes airs in the U.S. on C-SPAN. Last week, here in Canberra, Australia's capital, the performance I watched from the visitors' gallery, however, was quite the opposite.

One government minister referred to an opposition member as "corrupt" and "shifty" before he then called him a liar. That this labeling is often preceded by the required "my right honorable friend," or "the right honorable member" does little to mitigate the tone of what passes for modern political debate. In fact, it's not a debate at all when one person shouts at another. You can hardly persuade someone by the power of argument that way.

Politics has always been a contact sport and in America's early days fisticuffs sometimes broke out in Congress. With the advent of television and social media the public has not only been exposed to increasingly offensive language and behavior, it has often emulated it.

Across from where I sat in the visitors' gallery, a large group of schoolchildren watched the adults go at each other. I wondered what they were thinking and what kind of example was being set. If these children misbehaved in class and their teacher admonished them, would they use what they had seen as justification for their bad behavior?

American politics is also getting worse under Trump. Last week, a White House aide dismissed remarks by Sen. rino-John McCain (R-AZ) opposing the nomination of Gina Haspel as CIA director. According to a leak from a closed-door meeting, Kelly Sadler said that rino-McCain had become "irrelevant" because "he's dying anyway," a reference to his battle with brain cancer.

There has been no apology issued by the White House.

Nicolle Wallace, a 2008 rino-McCain presidential campaign aide, apologized for a remark she made on MSNBC when she said of White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, "How do you resist the temptation to run up and wring her neck?"

President Trump is not alone in bearing responsibility for this low level of rhetoric. He has, however, by his own caustic language, given tacit permission to his supporters to speak in similar ways. It is not just the disgusting nature of such remarks that should offend. We are not each other's enemies. We are fellow Americans, who sometimes disagree, but ought to do so with some level of respect for each other.

One can have a minimum high regard for a political opponent, as some clever practitioners of better rhetoric have demonstrated in the past, but why this increasingly angry and poisonous pattern of speech?

For creatively cutting remarks in history, it is hard to top what the late British Prime Minister David Lloyd George said of Neville Chamberlain: "A retail mind in a wholesale business," or comments by the English journalist William Cobbett about Benjamin Franklin: "A crafty, lecherous, old hypocrite whose very statue seems to gloat on the wenches as they walk the States House yard."

Those and other insults, while biting, seemed more creative and less harmful than some of the venomous rhetoric that characterizes modern political discourse.

In the Australian parliament, members talked over each other. The same rudeness takes place in Congress. Some of the worst offenders of indelicate political speech then often appear on cable news where they denounce each other as unpatriotic, and worse.

In Australia's parliament, as in the U.S. Congress, schoolchildren, and the rest of us, are no doubt learning lessons better left unlearned.

Bill Bradley of New Jersey, who was a former Princeton University and New York Knicks basketball superstar, prohibiting the states from authorizing sports betting. At that time, gambling in Atlantic City was flourishing, and notwithstanding one of its own senators' efforts to keep gambling away from competitive sports, the state of New Jersey wanted to duplicate Las Vegas' success with sports betting.

When Bradley's legislation grandfathered the state of Nevada, legislators in New Jersey came up with an idea to get around the federal legislation that would permit Atlantic City casinos to compete with those in Las Vegas by repealing all laws about sports betting, thereby escaping the federal prohibition on "authorizing" sports betting. It would be up to the casinos to set up their own betting parlors for college and professional sports, and in so doing, they could increase their own bottom lines and thus the state's tax revenues.

When major professional sports leagues and the NCAA challenged this, a federal district court in Newark read the 'thou shalt not authorize' language to mean 'thou shalt not permit under any circumstances.' That ruling was upheld by a federal appeals court in Philadelphia, and New Jersey appealed its case to the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled in its favor earlier this week.

The Supreme Court decision reinforces the anti-commandeering jurisprudence of the 10th Amendment, which was dormant from the New Deal era to the mid-1990s. Recall that the states formed the federal government, not the other way around. When they did so, they delegated certain areas of governmental authority to the feds, and as new states were added to the Union, they did the same.

The 10th Amendment is the constitutional recognition of the truism that the legislative powers that the states did not delegate to Congress they retained for themselves.

The anti-commandeering jurisprudence prohibits Congress from telling the states how to govern or legislate or spend their tax dollars in any governmental areas not delegated to the Congress. This congressional practice was condemned in a case called Printz v. United States, in which Congress had ordered state law enforcement officials to establish certain gun registration protocols consistent with congressional standards and made state legislatures pay for the enforcement of the protocols.

The Supreme Court, through the late Justice Antonin Scalia, characterized this federal legislation as "commandeering" -- taking the discretion away from -- state officials and legislatures. The Supreme Court's sports gambling decision this week followed the rationale of the Printz case and characterized the federal legislation that prohibited the states from permitting sports gambling as commandeering their legislative processes.

The reason that federal commandeering of state legislative processes is unconstitutional -- Justice Samuel Alito's sports betting opinion likened commandeering to having a federal agent on the floor of each state legislature give a thumbs-up or -down to proposed legislation -- is that it flies in the face of the Guarantee Clause of the Constitution.

That clause guarantees a representative form of government in each state. A representative form of government requires that the representatives in the government be free to vote their consciences and not be prohibited or restrained from doing so because of a federal command.

Did Bill Bradley make a mistake?

I am a longtime fan and friend of Sen. Bradley's, notwithstanding our general ideological differences over the constitutional role of government in our lives. Bradley is smart, fair and open-minded, and I miss him in the public forum. Yet he ought to have known that the legislation he authored was unconstitutional, and he ought to have known that Congress could have outlawed sports betting had it chosen to do so.

Had Congress made sports betting criminal -- which it has not yet done -- the sports gambling case this week would have been moot. Congress undoubtedly has the power under the Commerce Clause to prohibit any item from interstate commerce that it wishes, and it could have done so to communications that further sports betting. But of course, federal laws cost the feds money to enforce, and Congress did not want to foot that bill -- hence Bradley's scheme of transferring the cost of preventing sports betting to the states.

If Congress had outlawed sports betting, such a law would not have implicated the anti-commandeering jurisprudence because it would have been a restraint on individual personal behavior and not a restraint on the discretion of state law enforcement or elected state representatives.

What are the unintended consequences of this ruling?

All of this bodes well for the independence of the states in the areas where they are free to govern. There, they can be laboratories of democracy, dependent upon the public sentiment of their voters and the freely exercised consciences of their state representatives.

In an odd couplet, however, it also helps the sanctuary city movement, insofar as that movement purports to require that state and local law enforcement agencies not actively enforce federal immigration laws or policies because compelling them to do so would violate anti-commandeering jurisprudence. The commandeering would consist of removing the discretion of state and local law enforcement as to the disposition of law enforcement resources and the discretion of state legislatures as to how state tax revenue is spent.

And all of this underscores the wisdom of the Framers, who created a federal union that, even after the Civil War, is still subject to the sovereignty of the states. The beauty of the Union is that no two states are alike and we can all get ourselves to states where the laws are more to our liking. Ronald Reagan once whimsically captured these constitutional values when he argued that only in America can you vote with your feet.

No, Iran didn’t win Iraq’s election

Also doing surprisingly well, albeit farther down the list, is Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, an Iranian-backed offshoot responsible for the murder of U.S. servicemen inside Iraq. Former Interim Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, who often sells himself as a coalition-building secularist, did poorly. But does that mean Iran won, or that Muqtada al-Sadr will really be the kingmaker as the Washington Post has suggested? Or that Iran is the victor? Here, the answer is no and no. Iraq’s elections are not winner-take-all. Many figures run separately but come together in the post-election shuffle to form a coalition. Abadi’s poorer-than-expected showing undercuts his negotiating position, but if he re-combines with all factions of his Da`wa party, he is still kingmaker. As for al-Sadr, it pays to remember 2010 when Allawi won the plurality but was unable to bring Iran’s many factions together Maliki then became prime minister. Sadr’s political movement is notoriously fractious: Sadrists may be willing to ride his populist wave, but they are the first to jump ship when opportunity strikes...

The Cultural Shift Against Free Speech 

by Brian Mark Weber:  At first, Twitter seemed like a great idea: quickly and concisely communicating our thoughts with just a few keystrokes, rather than babbling on and on. Still, something didn’t seem quite right about that 140-character limitation, even when it was doubled to 280 characters last year. Somehow, it still seemed a restriction on our speech.

             But that was just the beginning. This simple social media platform is now going far beyond limiting our character-count to controlling what we think and how we interact with our fellow citizens.
               One of the core problems created by social media behemoths like Twitter and Facebook is not that their policies are posing any serious legal threat to the First Amendment. As David French writes at National Review, “The law of free speech has mainly improved. Americans might have more legal defenses against government censorship now than they ever have before. If the government moves against your speech based on your viewpoint and you fight back, you’re likely to win.”
               But social media platforms can bypass the Constitution altogether by creating a paradigm shift in the way current and future generations understand the important role free speech plays in our society. French adds, “The culture of free speech has decayed. Individuals and organizations are far more sensitive and far less tolerant of dissent than they were even in the recent past.”
               Twitter thinks it has the answer, but its users won’t be freer to speak their minds.
               In 2016, Twitter launched an Orwellian “Trust & Safety Council” made up of more than 40 organizations, some of which have a history of suppressing free speech. Having thus created a council with representation from a very limited range of ideological perspectives, the company tipped its authoritarian hand.
               Twitter explained that in order for users to “express themselves freely and safely on Twitter, we must provide more tools and policies.”
               Somehow we’ve managed to build a thriving civilization without having our social interactions with others flagged by an intrusive authority, but now Twitter thinks we need just that. After all, society itself has embedded cultural norms and practices over time to ensure civil discourse. But these cultural norms are under actually threatened by the advent of technology and the pervasive use of social media by millions of Americans.
               Sure, some of Twitter’s changes seem benign on the surface. For example, the latest push by CEO Jack Dorsey purports to focus on people who are routinely blocked by other users, those who send tweets to accounts they don’t follow, and those who launch multiple accounts from a single IP address. But how far will this go? Dorsey himself said that “this is a step, but we can see this going quite far.” Indeed, it may well go too far.
               This week, The Verge posted an internal Google video imagining a future in which social media is used not merely to referee online interaction, but to socially engineer our entire society.
               If that doesn’t send chills down your spine, then maybe we’re already closer to that world than we realize.
               For now, Twitter asserts that it’s merely trying to rid the platform of “spammy behavior.” But earlier this year, James O'Keefe’s Project Veritas revealed (via The Daily Wire) “Twitter employees admitting that they ‘shadow ban’ right-leaning accounts, which essentially bans them from the platform without letting them know that they have been banned while allowing left-leaning accounts to slip through without the same scrutiny.”
               That wouldn’t be so bad if Twitter were merely trying to filter out inappropriate or abusive online behavior without regard to ideology. But while middle-of-the-road conservative groups and individuals are being shadow-banned, Twitter has no qualms about allowing groups like Hamas to freely express their hatred and their calls for violence simply because Hamas is a democratically elected government entity that claims to be part of the Middle East “peace process.” Remember, Hamas was deemed a foreign terrorist organization by none other than President liar-Bill Clinton in 1997, and it orchestrated the recent violence on the Gaza border that lead to the deaths of dozens of its soldiers.
               Our Founding Fathers wisely protected us against government’s intrusion into what we say and how we say it. Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms, however, are subversively changing the very way Americans think about communication.
               And these changes are also occurring in academia and in the workplace, where the anti-free speech culture being fostered online is also part of the broader culture. The result is that we’ve become conditioned by social media to accept environments in which simply sharing an opinion can lead to being flagged, suppressed or outright banned from a social community. This is having a ripple effect on the way Americans interact with one another away from social media.
               Of course, no one is suggesting that the government take action against private companies. As Reason’s Robby Soave writes, “Twitter is a private company. It is free to make whatever speech rules it wants. Forcing Twitter to permit more kinds of speech would not actually be pro-free speech — in fact, it would violate the First Amendment.”
               And that’s why one of the greatest challenges our society will face in the 21st century is maintaining a culture of free speech when so many of us discuss politics and social issues not in the public square where everyone can speak freely, but in the privately-run realms of the Internet.
               The time has come for Americans to speak up, before it’s too late. This is no longer a discussion about cleaning up social media, but about preserving a civilization whose great strength has always derived from its First Amendment.   ~The Patriot Post

The Importance of Richard Pipes

He spent his entire career at Harvard, where he published many books on Russia and the Soviet Union. In an editorial, the Wall Street Journal stated, “Richard Pipes was a thinking man’s realist on the world’s affairs. His habits of mind and argument will be missed.” Central to Pipes’ mission was his stalwart opposition to totalitarianism, a term that came into bad odor in the 1970s as a new generation of scholars, influenced by the Vietnam War, began to paint the United States, not the Soviet Union, as the aggressor in the cold war. liar-nObamacare Is Still with Us, and Getting Worse

Some people would say, essentially, we have gotten rid of it.” Um, no. Whatever those mysterious “some people” might think, not only is liar-nObamacare still with us, but its problems are getting worse. What the president was likely referring to was the health-care law’s much-despised individual mandate, the requirement that every American purchase health insurance or pay a penalty, which was repealed as part of the tax-reform bill. But while the mandate was always the most unpopular part, it was never the structural heart of the Affordable Care Act. In many ways, liar-nObamacare’s original sin is its requirement that insurers cover people with pre-existing conditions without charging them premiums commensurate with their costs. By trying to shoehorn people who are almost by definition uninsurable into the traditional insurance markets, liar-nObamacare undermined and destabilized those markets — risking what actuaries call an adverse-selection death spiral, in which the sick are increasingly likely to purchase insurance, while the healthy drop out of the market. The individual mandate was a costly and ineffective attempt to deal with this problem by forcing young and healthy people to buy overpriced insurance, thereby offsetting the losses insurers were suffering on covering the old and sick. 'Animals': The Leftmedia's Latest BIG Lie 

by Thomas Gallatin:  This week we have yet another case study in the mainstream Leftmedia’s practice of dezinformatsiya in the era of #Resistance to Donald Trump. This was an irrefutable example of how intentionally quoting out of context can create an alternative narrative that is then presented as fact. In this case, the  Demo/MSM propaganda machine went out of its way to bolster its narrative that Trump’s motivation for enforcing America’s immigration laws is his own racism.

             The context the Leftmedia intentionally ignored: Trump was involved Wednesday in a roundtable discussion with law enforcement from across the country seeking to address the problems sanctuary cities pose for immigration enforcement. At one point, Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims thanked the president for recognizing and seeking to address the problem. But she also complained about the law: “There could be an MS-13 member I know about [but] if they don’t reach a certain threshold, I cannot tell ICE about it.” Trump responded:
               We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in — and we’re stopping a lot of them — but we’re taking people out of the country. You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people. These are animals. And we’re taking them out of the country at a level and at a rate that’s never happened before. And because of the weak laws, they come in fast, we get them, we release them, we get them again, we bring them out. It’s crazy. The dumbest laws — as I said before, [we have] the dumbest laws on immigration in the world. So we’re going to take care of it, Margaret. We’ll get it done.
               Cue the Leftmedia’s spin. Here are a few of the headlines:   The Washington Post: “Trump compares illegal immigrants to ‘animals’” The New York Times: “Trump calls some unauthorized immigrants ‘animals’ in rant” Huffington Post: “Trump refers to immigrants as ‘animals.’ Again.” USA Today: “Trump ramps up rhetoric on undocumented immigrants: ‘These aren’t people. These are animals.’” Vox: “Trump on deported immigrants: ‘They’re not people. They’re animals.’” NPR: “During roundtable, Trump calls some unauthorized immigrants ‘animals’”
               What utterly contemptible lies. Farm Subsidies and the Farm Bill: Truth vs. Fiction 

by Jordan Candler:  Like immigration, health care and other seemingly endless legislative quarrels, agriculture is a highly contentious issue every time Congress grapples with it. So this week’s House farm bill is simply par for the course. The Heritage Foundation’s Daren Bakst has produced an excellent compilation of critical amendments that should graduate to the finalized bill. Unfortunately, these amendments — just like past reform proposals — will be in the crosshairs of subsidy-obsessed special interests.

             As Bakst explains in a Daily Signal op-ed, “Agricultural special interests try to make it sound as though touching even one farm subsidy — regardless of how unreasonable the subsidy is — will be the end of agriculture as we know it. Using scare tactics, they will assert wild claims without any support, or they will cherry-pick data to provide a misleading picture.” Sound familiar? That’s because global warming scaremongers apply the same tactic.
               The truth is less menacing. For example, while special interest groups assert that farmers are financially strapped and therefore require subsidies, Bakst points to the opposite: “Farm households have far greater median income and wealth than non-farm households.” This means that, as of 2016, 70% of farm households reported higher earnings, and farmer wages averaged about 29% higher. In terms of aggregate wealth, farmers’ average of $897,000 dwarfs that of other households, which stands at a relatively paltry $97,300.
               Another farce revolves around the supposedly deteriorating economy. While the agriculture economy is admittedly off its peak, Bakst notes that “key financial indicators such as debt-to-asset ratios are near historic lows.” Besides, he reminds us: “What other sector of the economy expects regular taxpayer handouts when things aren’t going well? The very assumption that taxpayers should protect farmers from competing in the market like every other business shows the egregious nature of the current subsidy system.”
               A few additional pointers: The rural economy’s troubles have little to do with farming — “only about 6 percent of rural jobs are in farming,” says Bakst — and subsidies are disproportionately divided among small family and commercial farms (guess which one profits the most?). This contradicts the narrative that subsidies are primarily needed to propel small family farms. The number of family farms, by the way, is not in a tailspin, as special interests claim. Believe it or not, there’s even a national security angle when it comes to subsidies. But as Bakst points out, “There are no national security problems for almost all commodities that receive little to no subsidies,” which happens to be most agricultural commodities.
               Let’s also not belittle the most important fact — taxpayers are on the hook for every subsidiary element. Even with crop insurance, taxpayers foot 62% of the premium bill. And when it comes to sugar, the economy takes a $3.7 billion hit annually  despite the special interest groups’ laughable claim that it’s a financially neutral program. The reality is that the poor are hardest hit. The farm bill is currently constructed in a way that ignores these realities. It can, however, be amended. { townhall.com } ~ It is increasingly clear that the Trump-hating holdovers from the liar-nObama administration and their media enablers -- together, the duumvirate -- are not protecting "our democracy" but subverting it by fraudulently scandalizing and delegitimizing President Trump.

To avoid an email avalanche, let me emphasize that I know the difference between a democracy and a constitutional republic, but I am using the terminology of the Trump-hating left, which, by the way, prefers a democracy to a constitutional republic. But I digress.

As often happens, the truly bad actors (the duumvirate, in this case) are benefiting from the factual complexity involved, which they have exacerbated through disinformation, slanted reporting and outright lies.

They went ballistic when candidate Donald Trump wouldn't definitively answer in advance whether he would accept the presidential election results. Their fake outrage was purportedly over Trump's ostensible willingness to allow a cloud to hang over the liar-Clinton presidency in the event she won. But Trump was just saying that he wasn't going to prematurely concede that no chicanery would occur that could result in his defeat.

I only bring this up to highlight the phoniness of liberals' outrage, as shown by their engaging in exactly the same behavior for which they savaged Trump for merely considering. Ever since Trump was elected, they've tried to destroy and remove him and obstruct his agenda based on a mythical storyline and phantom "facts" concerning his supposed collusion with Russia to steal the election. Actually, we now know their nefarious behavior preceded the election because they needed "insurance" in case he won. As former U.S. Attorney Andrew McCarthy says, the government used its covert powers to investigate Trump despite having no evidence of a crime. There still is zero evidence.

Notwithstanding their misdirection to lead us off the scent, it's becoming clear that they bootstrapped the case against Trump based on thirdhand rumors elicited from a government-placed spy in the Trump campaign and on a dossier full of innuendo and lies that was procured and purchased by the liar-Clinton campaign under cover of a law firm and shadow corporation. What utter sleaze! Though fully aware Trump's opponents bought the dossier and that its contents were salacious and unsubstantiated, they brazenly presented it to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to get a warrant, without disclosing any of these damning details. This duplicitous dossier was an indispensable component of the government's Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant application.

James Comey, former FBI director and current self-promoter, denies that the dossier was crucial to the warrant application and pretends it was funded by Republicans. If he really believes that and reasonable people really don't believe he really believes that, then he is betraying a disqualifying ignorance , showing he had no business heading up this investigation -- or the FBI, for that matter. This same James Comey, who is so zealous to ensnare Trump for Russian collusion that exists only in fevered leftist minds, bent over backward to exonerate liar-Clinton for real crimes concerning the willful destruction of her emails. This same sanctimonious James Comey perniciously gamed the system by leaking memos he prepared while in the FBI to a law professor friend for the admitted purpose of triggering a special counsel investigation. Is this behavior we should expect from the nation's top law enforcement officer, or are these the actions of some disgruntled two-bit Deep Throat wannabe trying to even the score against President Trump for firing him?

Though we know that the duumvirate will support darn near anything to advance its beloved leftist agenda, can we even fathom the magnitude of its hypocrisy in looking the other way at the gross conflicts of interest of the deep-state Trump investigators? How can anyone with a scintilla of decency not read with abject horror the email exchanges between the adulterously love-struck FBI agent Peter Strzok and top FBI aide Lisa Page? It's undeniable that they were hellbent on shielding liar-Clinton from justice and inflicting injustices upon Trump.

Throughout this ordeal, the government has thwarted legitimate congressional information requests by speciously invoking national security concerns and then deceitfully redacting documents it was ultimately forced to turn over -- not to protect national security but to cover its own rear end. With one hand, the government claims it can't release information concerning its spying on the Trump campaign even claiming that congressional investigators are extorting it for the information, and with the other, it leaks this same information to friendly news outlets to mitigate the outrage coming its way when the unredacted documents are released and their duplicity is revealed.

If even a fraction of our disturbing suspicions concerning the government's actions in this Trump investigation and pretend liar-Clinton investigation are true, the liar-nObama administration not only conspired to surveil, undermine and criminalize the opposition party's presidential candidate but also has holdovers in government who are still engaged in a massive cover-up that in purpose, scope and the sheer number of important officials participating makes Watergate look like child's play.

The second group was probably the largest. A fair number of Democrats and Republicans, who really didn’t like what Barack liar-nObama had wrought, took refuge there. Unquestionably, the smallest group in Washington was the last. It is an odd political fate that the Republican presidential candidate who was so hostile to the Republican foreign-policy establishment’s internationalist spirit, who out- liar-nObama-ed liar-nObama in his desire to see America downsize its responsibilities and influence in the Middle East, took a decision that returns the United States to the region with a vengeance and draws a clear red line for military action against the mullahs. If the clerical regime were to attempt to reconnect a large number of its IR1 centrifuges at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility or the still-unperfected IR2m machines at the buried-beneath-a-mountain Fordow site, President Trump would have to strike militarily or see America’s position collapse. It’s a decent guess that the more conventional Republican presidential candidates, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and even Lindsey Graham, who all ardently campaigned against the JCPOA, would have kept America in the agreement. It possesses a global terror infrastructure and might seek to attack an Israeli facility or an Israeli or Jewish target abroad. In the past, Teheran and Hizballah have sought retribution in this way. The attack in 1994 on the Amia Jewish community centre in Buenos Aires, and the murder of Israeli tourists in Burgas, Bulgaria, in 2012 are examples of this. Alternatively, Iran could instruct its Lebanese Hizballah proxies to carry out an attack on Israeli forces across the border from Lebanon. This is how Teheran sought to retaliate for the killing by Israel of a number of Revolutionary Guards and Hizballah personnel close to the Golan Heights in January 2015. Israeli planners were expecting Iran’s retaliation for the nine dead militiamen was likely to be carried out in Syria, probably with the help of Shia militia personnel on the ground. It was not the first time Iranian personnel have been killed by Israel on Syrian soil. But it was the first time Iranian facilities, not those of proxy groups, were targeted. The Iranian action on May 10 was the first time Israel was directly targeted in a real-time conventional military operation led by the Revolutionary Guards. This is likely to set the pattern for further events to come...

by Caroline C. Lewis:  Our culture increasingly characterizes capitalism as a form of oppression and exploitation. Some movies characterize business owners as crony capitalists who force long hours on their workers in dingy sweatshops with no breaks, inadequate pay and no mercy. Democrat politicians in particular rail against corporations and “fat cats,” creating horrific caricatures and sweeping generalizations out of a few bad examples.

But how true is this picture?
               It turns out that the exact opposite is true. Free markets allow people to flourish, while controlled markets (such as socialism and communism) coerce people into being a machine of the government.
               Taking a step back in time, consider two young boys, one who lives in America and one who lives in the Soviet Union. Ask the American boy, “What would you like to be when you grow up?” and he answers “A fireman!” Ask the Russian boy the same question and he answers, “They haven’t told me yet.”
               The freedom to choose your future is one of the hallmarks of the free market. Human dignity remains the foundation of this freedom: All people have inherent value and worth and therefore should have the freedom to choose their life’s course, or as the Founders put it, “to pursue happiness.” “But I thought that capitalism was unfair,” some object. But is it?
               People do not have the same gifts and talents. This is an obvious fact in families. Take two brothers. They have the same parents, are raised the same way, and go to the same schools. Yet one is naturally better at numbers and the other is naturally better with people skills. In a market economy, we give both brothers the opportunity to succeed by allowing them equal opportunity to explore their gifts and to apply for jobs within their strengths set. So one becomes an accountant and the other a sales director. Are they the same? No. Are they “equal?” No. But they can each succeed in their own way, according to their skill sets. Or take two sisters. Same parents, same schools, same starting point. But one is good at science and the other shines in drama. So one sister becomes a doctor while the other becomes a drama teacher. But that’s not fair! The sister who is a doctor makes more money! Yes, but she also spent more years in school and took out more student loans. While it appears to be about the money, at its core, the claim of “unfair” sometimes focuses on the raw talent and at other times, the work ethic. If one sister is working 100 hours a week and another is working 40 hours a week with summers and holidays off, why is that inherently unfair? What is fair is that each sister was able to choose what she wanted to do. The claim of unfair does not account for individual decisions made by the person.
               Milton Freidman, the famous economist, stated: “A society that puts equality — in the sense of equality of outcome — ahead of freedom will end up with neither equality nor freedom.”
               If our starting point is equality, it ultimately forces everyone to be the same. Same job, same income, same food — so that no one can become jealous or envious.
               Envy, in fact, is the problem that socialism tries to fix. If we all have the same things, then we wouldn’t be jealous. Really? Have you tried that with a random sampling of children — preferably siblings? Consider a conversation like this:
               “But my book has a dent in it and hers doesn’t” “But they are the exact same book.” “But hers smells newer than mine.” “But they are the exact same book.” “I don’t think either of us should have books ever, because it’s not fair that they are different.”
               Aha! Now we’ve hit on the real issue: being different. And the fact that we are all different leads to envy because we all want something we don’t have. It’s human nature.
               Socialism attempts to fix human nature from the outside in. It asserts that changing the institutions will change human nature. (Well, keep trying on that one). That’s why socialism fails everywhere it’s been tried.
               In contrast, free markets encourage a free society. They protect the people from coercive government mandates that strip freedom and exchange scraps (in the name of protection) for slavery.
               And the dingy sweatshop with the crony capitalist from the beginning of the article? That’s a snapshot of communism. In a free market, those people would be free to quit and get a better job, not to mention sue their employer on their way out.
               Free markets empower people to pursue their talents and give them the freedom to work hard, the freedom to have an opportunity, and even the freedom to fail. The market and market-driven policies lift people out of dependency and hopelessness into personal achievement, giving them the satisfaction of what Arthur Brooks, president of the American Enterprise Institute, calls “earned success.”
               Our American economy, however, is a mixed-economy — a mixture of free market and government interference in the form of regulations and high taxes. These keep the American market-system from being all that it could be and hinders the empowerment of the people. Fortunately, the current administration understands the value of tax cuts and massive regulation reduction for the American people. We must continue to cherish and preserve the market system in America, while also working to cut economic encumbrances that hinder our economy from being the agent of empowerment for our country and the world.   ~The Patriot Post

As I wrote in my last column, things are falling into place just as scripted by Hamas. The terrorist organization recruits and sends its young men on suicide missions. Israel responds with the expected force. The media reports the events along anti-Israel lines. Then the nations of the world rise up to condemn evil Israel.

I previously cited Aaron Klein and Melanie Phillips, both of whom pointed out how the secular media plays right into Hamas’s hands. Since then, David Friedman, our ambassador to Israel, also weighed in, dubbing the protests and the ensuing casualties “a public relations event.”

He said, “If I could give a word of advice to the media, if they purport to care so much about the Palestinian cause: this coverage of Palestinians running to the fence, burning tires — it’s the fuel or the lubricant for further malign behavior.”

He added, “there’s a reason why Hamas sends impressionable kids to the front, telling them that the border is safe to cross. They want them to be killed or injured, to make the front page of the paper.”

That is the satanic and cynical strategy of Hamas.

Alan Dershowitz made similar comments, claiming that when the media reports in such “a biased manner,” that “incentivizes and encourages Hamas.”

He said, “You use children and women, you deliberately put them on the front lines, you make it impossible for Israel to defend itself without occasionally killing a woman or a child or an elderly person. And every time Israel accidentally kills somebody like that, Israelis grieve. Israel loses. Hamas cheers and celebrates because that’s exactly what they want. They want the media to show the body count. They want the media to show the dead baby, even though Israel tried everything in its power to avoid civilian casualties.”

It doesn’t matter that Hamas has admitted that more than 80 percent of those killed on Monday were Hamas members. 

It doesn’t matter that the dead baby (seen with grieving mother), did not die at the hands of the IDF. And why on earth would you bring an infant anywhere near the front lines of an active shooting site? 

It doesn’t matter that, “A Hamas leader said in an interview that the terror group was ‘deceiving the public’ when it spoke of ‘peaceful resistance.’”

All that matters is that Israel is evil and Israel is monstrous and Israel is genocidal.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim is now calling on the Islamic world to unite against Israel. “The Islamic world should move as one, with one voice, against this massacre,” he said.

And here in the West, celebrities are condemning evil Israel once again.

According to Chelsea Handler on Tuesday, “Nikki Haley is on tv talking about Hamas being responsible for the Palestinians protesting yesterday. These people had no weapons. They had tires to burn. There was a dead baby. While Netanyahu celebrates.”

Bette Midler tweeted (specifically targeting President Trump), “Fifty-two people die in protest over moving American Embassy to Jerusalem. Thanks, a--hole! Your uninformed and demented actions have consequences! Don’t you get it? Those people had families too!”

Michael Ian Black was more succinct: “Two *thousand* wounded. This is a massacre.”

Did I say that things were playing out just as Hamas scripted?

Again, as I emphasized in my last column, I grieve over this loss of life as well, regardless of who is ultimately responsible for it. And I do not claim that Israel is perfect in all her actions.

But this is a story we’ve read before. We know the plot. We know the players. We know how the story ends: Israel is a genocidal monster that must be stopped!

Is it any coincidence that all this is taking place at the same time we relocated our embassy to Jerusalem? Is it any coincidence that Zechariah, writing more than 2,500 years ago, described how all the nations would unite to attack Jerusalem? See Zechariah 12 and 14. This could speak of all surrounding nations, of a coalition of nations worldwide, or literally, of every nation.

The Homeless Hole That Ate Los Angeles

Walk down a street in the trendier parts of Los Angeles and you’re more likely to spot marijuana dispensaries than churches. The ubiquitous green cross is everywhere. Its faithful believe in only one higher power that they can’t smoke. So as the homeless problem grew, they turned to government. And to higher taxes. Proposition HHH was going to solve the homeless crisis by hiking property taxes to raise $1.2 billion. My Country or My Tribe?

             If one were to believe much of the Leftmedia’s take, America was a reasonable nation until Donald Trump was elected. Yet the tribalism we now call identity politics has been nurtured for decades, engendered by the change from one simple idea to another: a nation once urged to embrace assimilation in all its “melting pot” permutations became one where “celebrating our differences” was deemed the more enlightened approach. It was a total fraud.
               One that is reaching epic proportions. Did we really have a presidential candidate willing to completely dismiss millions of Americans as “deplorables” simply because they disagreed with her political philosophy, and/or disliked her personally? How do liar-Hillary Clinton, her media allies and her legions of supporters account for the fact that many of those same deplorables voted for Barack liar-nObama?
               “Trump ran and won as, among other things, a white racial demagogue who mocked and insulted minorities on his way to the White House; while the left, as it has grown more diverse, has become accustomed to periodic spasms of hostility and mutual recrimination among its various minority groups and their white allies,” assertscolumnist Paul MacDougald.
               Really? A majority of Trump voters embrace racial demagoguery? And the Left’s understanding of diversity consists of sub-tribes jockeying for primacy, largely based on which one can elicit the most guilt from all the others?
               Such clichéd cynicism, and the unending torrent of political correctness needed to sustain it, was as much a driver of Trump’s victory as anything else. And adding to leftist despair is the reality that Trump’s coarseness — seen as the antidote to political correctness — was not a bug but a feature of his success.
               The real divide in America? The Right believes the Left is wrong. The Left believes the Right is evil.
               Thus, leftists believe it is their sacred duty to impose their beliefs on the nation whether it wants them or not. And because of that sacredness, executive orders, court decisions, bureaucratic fiats and everything else that can be used to thwart the constitutional order is perfectly acceptable — when leftists do it.
               Thus, a Supreme Court that usurps states’ rights and  changes the 5,000-year-old definition of marriage is to be applauded. The same Court upholding an individual’s right to keep and bear arms? A travesty of justice. Barackliar-nObama  implementing DACA by executive order? Enlightened. Donald Trump demanding Congress decide the issue? Anti-immigrant bigotry.
               Nor is the divide simply about differing worldviews. Many progressives themselves once had traditional beliefs regarding subjects like marriage and gender. But since they’ve “evolved,” every American must follow suit — within a progressive-defined timeline. Those who don’t? As contemptible as those who resist completely.
               Imposing arbitrary timelines on societal change, no matter how worthy, virtually guarantees a tribalist response. Nonetheless, the Left remains obsessed with pushing the envelope. “Is Your Script Gender-Balanced? Try This Test” states a New York Times headline. It speaks to Hollywood screenwriter Christina Hodson’s development of gender analysis software that keeps track of how many characters are male and female, how many lines are spoken by each character, and eventually, “other issues of representation, like race and ethnicity,” as the Times puts it. “It’s a tool for people to self-police and look at unconscious bias in their own work,” Hodson insists.
               More like a tool to make story-telling indistinguishable from progressive virtue-signaling.
               If such tribalist-inspired nonsense were limited to Hollywood scriptwriting, it would be amusing. Yet as columnist Heather MacDonald reveals, the identity politics imposed on social science and humanities courses at America’s colleges is bleeding over into the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), now seen as insufficiently “diverse.”
               How does one engender sufficient levels of diversity? By eliminating meritocracy. “Medical school administrators urge admissions committees to overlook the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) scores of black and Hispanic student applicants and employ ‘holistic review’ in order to engineer a diverse class,” MacDonald explains.
               Will Americans countenance a nation where ideological imperatives for a movie script become indistinguishable from those for an operating room?
               “When civil rights shifted from punishing mandatory segregation to punishing the lack of integration, it ceased to be a movement pursuing freedom and instead became a totalitarian movement,” asserts columnist Daniel Greenfield.
               That totalitarian movement has pushed millions of well-meaning Americans into tribalist enclaves, where safety becomes more important than freedom of expression. And that retreat is often justified by what many Americans perceive is a double-standard with regard to accountability. Did the Trump campaign collude with the Russians, or is a Ruling Class long used to getting its way seeking to nullify the 2016 election? Are we an exceptional nation built on an unprecedented understanding of human rights and the limits of government power, or one built on the “genocide of native people and slavery,” where the “cradle of democracy is "bulls—t,” as filmmaker Spike Lee asserts? In America today, one’s answers to such questions are more often than not determined by one’s tribal allegiance.
               As Sullivan reminds us, tribalism is not necessarily a bad thing. There is nothing wrong with “unconditional pride, in our neighborhood and community; in our ethnic and social identities and their rituals; among our fellow enthusiasts,” he writes. By contrast, he warns, when it calcifies and “rivals our attachment to the nation as a whole” and “turns rival tribes into enemies” it ultimately destabilizes the nation.
               Of course, Sullivan blames both sides for the divisiveness but holds the Right more accountable — or so he thinks. “One of the great attractions of tribalism is that you don’t actually have to think very much,” he asserts.
               The American Right can be blamed for a great many things with regard to tribalism. But dumbing-down public schools and  colleges that routinely turn out legions of weak-thinking but well-indoctrinated social justice warriors isn’t one of them.
               Is there a truce to be had? Oddly enough, the most recent Supreme Court decision striking down a federal law prohibiting sports betting epitomizes the “live and let live” federalism the Founding Fathers were prescient enough to make an integral part of governing documents. Wasserman Schultz Calls Five Million Americans 'Terrorists' 

by Nate Jackson:  “The NRA is kind of just shy of a terrorist organization,” declared Debbie Wasserman Schultz. “They have done everything they can to perpetuate the culture of violence that we have in our country with the spread of assault weapons across the nation.” She was responding to Oliver North, the NRA’s new president, who said recently of gun-controllers, “They call them activists. That’s what they’re calling themselves. They’re not activists — this is civil terrorism.” He accused them of “intimidation and harassment and lawbreaking.”

             North has a point, especially in light of the recent hate-filled boycott campaign against the NRA and the ignorant political pawns marching against our constitutional rights.
               But we want to rebut Wasserman Schultz’s gross slander more specifically. The nearly 150-year-old NRA is made up of roughly five million Americans who love our Constitution and stand in particular for the Second Amendment — the right that secures all the others. Those Americans commit crimes at a far lower rate than the general population. In fact, as a subset, concealed-carry permit holders are more law-abiding than the police. No NRA member has ever perpetrated a mass murder, though an NRA instructor did stop the one in Texas last year. When the annual NRA convention comes to any city, that city’s crime rate drops. The NRA spends millions instructing Americans of all ages how to responsibly handle firearms, both for recreational purpose and self-defense. That reduces crime.
               By contrast, most crime in America — and particularly gun crime — is committed on urban poverty plantations that Democrats have run for decades. That crime is not committed with what Democrats have misnamed “assault weapons,” either, but by illegally owned handguns often wielded by drug dealers and gangs. Democrats perpetuate the culture of death through their rabid support of abortion. When political violence is committed, it’s usually against Republicans. And as for actual terrorists, well, Democrat Barack liar-nObama funded it with billions of dollars.
               “It’s kind of like a spoiled child stamping their feet on the ground, insisting that something right in front of their face isn’t true,” Wasserman Schultz said. Yes. Yes it is. Exclusive: Judge to rule on release 

of special counsel's contacts with media

Freedom Watch founder Larry Klayman and Joseph Dugan, the lawyer representing the special counsel, will appear in Washington district court on May 24 at 10:30 a.m. for a status conference with Judge Emmet Sullivan. The Hill viewed the relevant court filings, which are reported here for the first time. Klayman filed the initial FOIA request with the special counsel, the Justice Department and the FBI on Jan. 2, arguing that the correspondences needed to be revealed because the special counsel’s office was leaking to the media to bolster its criminal cases...

DOJ Inspector General Report on

Rush Limbaugh: ‘I Know Who FBI’s Inside Source Is’

All the details we have as for who the spy could be is that they have connections to the CIA, FBI, DOJ, and is the U.S. citizen, but also has connections to foreign intelligence. El Rushbo thinks he has an idea. Mueller Investigation One Year Old, Still No Collusion 

by Thomas Gallatin:  President Donald Trump marked the one-year anniversary of the Robert Mueller special investigation by writing, “Congratulations America, we are now into the second year of the greatest Witch Hunt in American History…and there is still No Collusion and No Obstruction. The only Collusion was that done by Democrats who were unable to win an Election despite the spending of far more money!” Indeed, the fact remains that after a year of investigating, no evidence of any Trump/Russian collusion has been presented by Mueller’s team of Hillary Clinton donors. Witch hunt?

             Clearly seeking to ratchet up the pressure on the Mueller investigation in order to bring it to a quick end, Rudy Giuliani, now Trump’s lead attorney, stated yesterday, “This case is essentially over. … [Mueller’s team is] just in denial.” Giuliani also noted that Mueller acknowledged the investigation would follow Justice Department guidance and not seek an indictment against Trump. That’s really not news, though, as it does not preclude Mueller from recommending that the House pursue impeachment. But over what?
               Speaking of Congress, the Senate Judiciary Committee released a report that seemed to contradict last month’s House report. In short, the Senate concluded that the U.S. intelligence community did indeed believe the Russian government ran a sophisticated and extensive effort to interfere in the 2016 election, and that the Kremlin aimed to help Trump and hurt liar-Clinton. However, this report in no way even purports to provide evidence for any collusion conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia. Rather it simply agrees with the intelligence community’s assessment that Moscow was working to interfere in the election. There is no news here, despite Leftmedia attempts to drum it up.
               But what is more revealing was yesterday’s release of transcripts from the Senate Judiciary Committee’s closed-door hearing with those involved in the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Russian attorney. It’s significant because that meeting was supposedly the smoking gun upon which the collusion narrative hung — that and the  liar-Clinton-funded dossier. And what we find is that the meeting was a giant nothingburger. There is no evidence of collusion. In fact, as Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey argues, “If Mueller doesn’t care about this testimony becoming public … it suggests that the Trump Tower meeting doesn’t matter to the Russian-collusion track — and without the Trump Tower meeting, that track seems pretty narrow.”   ~The Patriot Post
