{ wnd.com } ~ When you do what I do whatever your appraisal thereof happens to be, there are things that come across the transom this being a reference to the old-style windows that were once commonly utilized as an architectural devise of many big-city buildings and even apartment buildings that just cannot be ignored.

In films from the early to mid 20th century, the transom which could be opened to facilitate ventilation might be used to pass anything from mail, to a bomb intended to neutralize a meddling detective, to an aspiring writer’s manuscript flung through the transom into a prospective agent’s office.

The internet, online access and digital delivery modalities have become sort of an analogue for the transom, through which millions of us experience a veritable deluge of information on a daily basis. Practically every email solicitation the average person receives can be considered an example of transom-transmitted information, much of which would be considered junk mail by most of us.

How does one determine what is significant and what is not when so much of these data are the digital equivalent of junk mail? How can one determine what is relevant, particularly if they are in business, specifically if they are in the business of information – like commentary writers, journalists and the like.

Across my digital transom today appeared the account of Fox News’ Tucker Carlson and his analysis of certain communiqués sent to and from members of the liar-nObama administration and powerful Democrat operatives – particularly former National Security Adviser Susan Rice who initially drove the preposterous, lying narrative pertaining to the tragic loss of American personnel in Benghazi and liar-Bill and liar-Hillary Clinton.

Now, for the record, I do respect Tucker Carlson as a journalist. According to Carlson’s account, in the days following Donald Trump’s electoral victory, Susan Rice apparently sent emails to herself using White House servers presumably for the intent of security and verification wherein she revealed former President Barackliar-nObama’s perception of Donald Trump as a “traitor” and a “Russian spy.”

I have heard very few statements as preposterous in the extreme as this one. This is not to say that I discount Carlson’s account. Quite the contrary: Considering the vile nature and deportment of our former president – You know, the transformational, post-racial, unifying, messianic Barack Hussein liar-nObama – I appraise accusations of this nature relating to Mr. Trump as not only extreme projection, but a deflection of the highest order.

Over the last nine years during which the American people suffered under the despot liar-nObama, I and others made account of the depth of subterfuge, foreign influence and fundamentally subversive elements that composed the administration of our precious First Black American President, and what an obscenity that administration represented. All I can say by way of verification is that the reader examine the last nine years of my WND archives. Each and every disgusting and horrific account of the exploits of Mr. liar-nObama and his co-conspirators was verified and vetted.

During the time this saboteur was in the Oval Office, it was not only determined that his hotly contested origin story and documentation representing same were bogus, but I can say with the highest confidence that this man was a complete and entire fraud. Even his name is not his own, meaning that the name to which the world refers to him was not his birth name. Based on my knowledge and information, I doubt that even the year and location of his birth were accurately disclosed.

liar-nObama’s youth, surrounded and mentored by subversives of varying stripes communists, Islamists and dedicated socialists is largely unknown to the vast majority of Americans. Nor is the subsidization of his career and ascent by subversive and foreign interests. Yet, this is what molded him into the ultimate Manchurian candidate. What is truly chilling is that so much of the truth about the man has always been out there and accessible. Sadly, few chose to look.

Thus, any charges made by liar-nObama or his surrogates claiming subversion, disloyalty, or foreign collusion on Trump’s part – or any other American for that matter – must be evaluated with the utmost in cynicism and discretion.

'The Trump/Russia Collusion Narrative is Collapsing' - JW President Tom Fitton

{ wnd.com } ~ Every place you look in Robert Mueller’s investigation, the same names keep popping up: FBI agent Peter Strzok and sleazy, foreign private eye – or “British intelligence agent” – Christopher Steele.

So it’s rather important that they both are Trump-hating fanatics, and one was being paid by Trump’s political opponent in a presidential campaign.

Steele is the author of the preposterous dossier that sparked the special counsel investigation, and Strzok is the FBI agent involved at every crucial turn of both the Trump and liar-Hillary investigations.

As we found out from the House Intelligence memo, Steele told Department of Justice official Bruce Ohr that he “was desperate that Donald Trump not get elected and was passionate about him not being president.” Ohr’s wife worked for Fusion GPS, and, like Steele, was being paid by the liar-Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

In the hands of Trump-obsessive Peter Strzok – he of the estrogen-dripping texts to his Trump-hating FBI lawyer mistress – the dossier was used to obtain a warrant under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act against Trump’s alleged “foreign policy adviser,” Carter Page.

The FISA warrant against Page constitutes the last crumbling piece of the “Russia collusion” story.

Strzok was the person who instigated the Russia investigation against Trump back in July 2016. He was the lead agent on the investigation into whether liar-Hillary, as secretary of state, sent classified information on her private email account. Conclusion: She had – but it wasn’t any of the FBI’s business! He volunteered for the Mueller investigation and remained there, right up until his Trump-hating texts were discovered by the inspector general of the FBI. He was also, one surmises, the authority for many of the media’s lurid, anonymously sourced claims about how the investigation was proceeding.

Most strangely, Strzok was the FBI agent who asked Trump’s national security adviser, Michael Flynn, about his phone call with the Russian ambassador, Sergey Kislyak.

There was nothing wrong with Flynn’s conversation with Kislyak, but Flynn later pleaded guilty to lying to an FBI agent about it, based on a secretly recorded intercept of the phone call. The question remains: Why was any FBI agent even asking about a perfectly legitimate conversation? No one seems to know. But we do know the name of the FBI agent who asked: Peter Strzok.

Aside from Strzok’s girl-power text to his mistress upon liar-  Hillary becoming the first female presidential nominee – “About damn time!” – his most embarrassing message to her was about the Russia investigation:

“I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy’s office FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe – that there’s no way Trump gets elected – but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk. It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40 …”

The media have tied themselves in knots trying to explain this text as meaning anything other than its obvious, natural meaning. To wit: “Although the worst is unlikely Trump wins/you die before age 40, you still prepare by taking out ‘insurance’ we take Trump down with the Russia investigation/your family gets a payout.”

I keep looking for a plausible alternative interpretation, but they’re all absurd; e.g., the Washington Post points out that even with an insurance policy, YOU STILL DIE! Yes, and even with the Russian investigation, TRUMP IS STILL PRESIDENT. Everyone except American journalists understands that Strzok’s “insurance” was their plan to tie Trump up with an endless investigation.

Which, coincidentally, is exactly what they’ve done.

Contrary to every single person talking on MSNBC, the issue is not whether FBI agents are allowed to have political opinions. In a probe of the president, FBI agents shouldn’t be dying to take him down for political reasons.

You want drug enforcement agents to be hungry to shut down drug cartels. You want organized crime prosecutors to be hungry to dismantle the mob. You want your maid to be hungry to clean your house. But the staff on a special counsel’s open-ended investigation of the president aren’t supposed to be hungry. They’re supposed to be fair.

This is an investigation with no evidence of a crime, apart from politically motivated, anti-Trump investigators relying on a liar-Hillary-funded dossier.

Also contrary to every single person talking on MSNBC, Steele’s dossier is not like a neighbor who hates you telling the police you’re cooking meth in your basement. The police still have to investigate, don’t they?

First of all, if after 18 months of police work, the only evidence that you’re cooking meth in your basement is STILL your neighbor’s bald accusation, reasonable people will conclude that your neighbor is a liar. That’s what the Steele dossier is. It was the only evidence of Trump’s collusion with Russia 18 months ago, and it’s the only evidence of Trump’s collusion with Russia today.

Moreover, it’s not just the informant who hates the target. The investigators do, too. This is more like a police officer calling the police on his wife, sending himself on the call, shooting her, then writing up the police report concluding it was a justified shooting.

When your entire investigation turns on a handful of people with corrupt motives, maybe it’s time to call off the investigation.

{ truthrevolt.org } ~ The Israeli police investigation against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shows remarkable similarities with the Special Counsel probe against President Donald Trump in the United States.

During the prime time news broadcasts Tuesday evening in Israel, the dramatic news was announced that Israel Police investigators are recommending that Israel’s Attorney General, Avichai Mandelblit, indict Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on bribery and breach of trust charges in two investigations.

The news raises a number of obvious questions about Netanyahu’s political future. But it also raises an equal, if not greater, number of questions about the purity of the police service’s intentions and its trustworthiness.

Let us begin by considering the specific cases that form the bases of police recommendations against Netanyahu.

The first investigation has been dubbed Investigation 1000 by the Police’s main criminal investigations unit, Lahav 433. The investigation surrounds the relationship between Netanyahu and his old friend, Israeli businessman and Hollywood movie producer Arnon Milchen. The police have recommended that Milchen be indicted for paying bribes to Netanyahu. The police recommend indicting Netanyahu for taking bribes from Milchen and acting illegally on his behalf.

According to Israel’s Hadashot television news, this investigation was the top story in terms of volume of coverage during 2017.

The police allege that between 2007 and 2016, Milchen showered Netanyahu and his wife Sara with cigars, champagne, and jewelry, often purchased at their request. In 2014, Milchen’s business partner, Australian businessman James Packer, who was also a friend of Netanyahu and his family, allegedly began giving similar gifts to the Netanyahu family.

In exchange for those gifts, the police allege that Netanyahu supported extending a law passed in 2008, when Netanyahu was the head of the parliamentary opposition, that gave returning Israeli expatriates tax forgiveness for ten years of unpaid back taxes. That is, Israeli expatriates were not liable for Israeli income tax for their global income earned over the decade before they returned to Israel.

According to the police, after Netanyahu returned to office in 2009, Milchen lobbied Netanyahu’s finance minister at the time, Yair Lapid, to extend the tax forgiveness period. Lapid, who is now in the opposition, heads the center-left Yesh Atid party. If Netanyahu’s Likud party fails to win the next election, according to the polls, Lapid and his Yesh Atid party will form the next government.

In other words, today, Lapid is Netanyahu’s chief political rival.

On Tuesday, the police told reporters that Lapid is the key witness against Netanyahu in Investigation 1000.

Lapid reportedly told investigators that Netanyahu asked him twice to advance Milchen’s request to extend the period of tax forgiveness to returning expatriates beyond the ten years granted by the law. Lapid and the finance ministry opposed Milchen’s proposal, and his initiative went nowhere.

Netanyahu also allegedly intervened on behalf of Milchen in two proposed deals related to Israeli television stations that Milchen either owned or wished to own.

But then, neither of his proposed interventions, if they occurred, were successful.

The police report that Netanyahu intervened on Milchen’s behalf when the latter was experiencing difficulty renewing his residency visa in the U.S. Netanyahu called then-Secretary of State John Kerry and asked him to intervene on Milchen’s behalf to renew his residency visa.

Since Milchen stood to lose a significant amount of money if he was unable to remain in the U.S., the police claim that Netanyahu’s intervention on his behalf with Kerry represented the return on Milchen’s gifts.

Milchen himself has a long record of service to Israel’s Mossad — its foreign spy service — and reportedly has contributed significantly to Israel’s defense. Netanyahu claims that he acted out of respect for Milchen’s long service to Israel’s security. In addition,, Israel’s late president and prime minister, left-wing icon Shimon Peres, also intervened on Milchen’s behalf with U.S. authorities.

In the second probe, dubbed Investigation 2000, the police recommend indicting Netanyahu following a discussion he held – and recorded surreptitiously – in 2014 with Arnon Mozes, the publisher and controlling owner of Israel’s mass circulation daily, Yediot Ahronot. The police found the recorded conversation on the mobile phone of Netanyahu’s former chief of staff, Ari Harow, who is the subject of a separate and unrelated influence-peddling probe. Netanyahu claims he recorded their conversation on the advice of his attorney because he was afraid that Mozes would try to extort him.

The police claim that the conversation is proof that Mozes offered Netanyahu a bribe and that Netanyahu accepted the offer. They recommend charging Mozes with bribing Netanyahu, and charging Netanyahu with accepting a bribe from Mozes.

The odd thing about this claim is that no deal was struck. To the contrary.

Mozes is Netanyahu’s nemesis. Yediot Ahronot is the most influential newspaper in Israel. Its front page dictates the daily news programming for radio and television broadcasts. And Yediot Ahronot‘s coverage of Netanyahu is implacably hostile to the premier and to his family. To a lesser but significant degree, Yediot Ahronot is also deeply hostile to the Israeli political right.

According to the recording of the men’s conversation, which was leaked to the media by the police more than a year ago, Netanyahu and Mozes discussed an elaborate scheme to change the newspaper market in Israel in Yediot Ahronot‘s favor.

Israel’s largest circulation paper is Israel Hayom, a free tabloid that is owned by conservative American billionaire — and Netanyahu supporter — Sheldon Adelson. In their recorded conversation, Mozes raised the possibility of Netanyahu curtailing government advertising in Israel Hayom and working to cut back its circulation in order to increase Yediot Ahronot‘s market share.

In exchange, Mozes offered to scale back the negative tone of his paper’s coverage of Netanyahu.

In the event, nothing came of the conversation. Indeed, in late 2014, against Netanyahu’s expressed wishes, then-justice minister Tzipi Livni put forward a controversial media bill, which was based on a legal opinion written by Yediot Ahronot‘s legal advisor. The bill, which was dubbed the “Israel Hayom law,” would have forced the shutdown of the paper by barring its owners from not charging money for it.

The law passed a preliminary reading in the Knesset with 43 votes. Netanyahu and his Likud Party voted against the bill. Moreover, to prevent the bill from going forward, Netanyahu disbanded his government and the Knesset and called new elections a bit more than a year into his term.

In other words, to prevent any harm to Israel Hayom – and transitively, to prevent any advantage from being accrued to Yediot Ahronot — Netanyahu took the radical step of standing for election again.

For more than a year, the police refused to investigate any of the 43 lawmakers who voted in favor of the bill, or to analyze the coverage they received in Yediot Ahronot in following their support. Three weeks ago, the bill’s sponsor, Labor Party member of Knesset Eitan Cabel — who enjoyed extraordinary coverage in the paper — was brought in for a brief interview.

In other words, the police are recommending that Netanyahu be indicted for a conversation that went nowhere, which he recorded. And the police are not investigating 42 out of the 43 lawmakers that supported a move that would have given Mozes everything he asked Netanyahu for, but didn’t receive, while the 43rd lawmaker was subject merely to a brief interrogation.

This brings us to the police.

{ conservativeinstitute.org } ~ As the Oklahoma attorney general’s office fights to keep hidden from public view the results of secret hearings on the DNA science flaws and falsehoods in former Oklahoma City police officer Daniel Holtzclaw’s case, two prominent experts have stepped forward to shed bright light on the government’s myriad mind-boggling failures.

Forensic scientist, criminal profiler and crime reconstructionist Dr. Brent Turvey and independent forensic DNA consultant Suzanna Ryan spoke out about the Holtzclaw case for the newest episode of my investigative program on CRTV.com.

Reflecting on the confirmation bias that drove the investigation, the elementary failures of evidence collection and the forensic missteps, Turvey told me that he and his colleagues “cannot understand how this case got into trial at all.”

Holtzclaw is the wrongfully convicted Oklahoma City patrolman caught up in the nationwide anti-cop frenzy and social justice riots of Ferguson and Baltimore.

After initial accuser Jannie Ligons — who is suing Holtzclaw in a high-dollar lawsuit represented by Al Sharpton 2.0, Benjamin Crump — went public with her sensational sexual assault claims in June 2014, Oklahoma City sex-crimes Detectives Rocky Gregory and Kim Davis solicited a field of 13 total accusers.

They were all black women and almost all had histories of drug abuse, mental illness, prostitution and multiple crimes.

No “linkage analysis” was done to establish a factual basis for the alleged victim profile, Turvey told me. The profile was created from gut feelings, not science or professional expertise.

Seven additional accusers, including one male, told such preposterous stories that the cops were forced to reject them out of hand. Only one was prosecuted for lying to police. Of the 13 who went to trial, the jury rejected five of the accusers’ stories and cleared Daniel of their charges (18 out of 36 total).

Detectives Gregory and Davis preemptively told accusers they were searching for sexual assault victims of a “bad guy” on the police force and badgered women who repeatedly had denied they were victims of any sexual improprieties, refused to look at lineups or described an alleged attacker as “short” and “black” or “dark-skinned” Daniel is 6-foot-1, pale and half Japanese.

Turvey — who has worked for government agencies and universities across the world and authored multiple peer-reviewed textbooks on criminal profiling and investigation, forensic criminology and victimology, forensic science, criminal justice ethics and law enforcement corruption — called the Oklahoma City detectives’ approach “one of the most biased ways of approaching criminal investigation that (he’d) ever seen.”

“You have detectives who have started with the notion that Mr. Holtzclaw is guilty,” Turvey recounted, “searching through as many potential contacts as he’s ever had” to confirm their narrative.

Detectives weren’t interested in pursuing other leads who matched accusers’ descriptions. They were “just interested in making their case against Officer Holtzclaw. That’s the definition of confirmation bias.”

It’s a major red flag, Turvey whose most recent textbook is on false allegations told me, “because the possibility that you’re dealing with somebody who’s falsely reporting the crime goes way up when you approach the case in this fashion.”

Out of the eight remaining accusers’ claims and alleged crime scenes, there were zero corroborating witnesses, and there was zero direct forensic evidence.

The Oklahoma City Police Department’s crime lab identified what it characterized as “epithelial cell” DNA from one lone accuser — a troubled 17-year-old girl with a history of violent crime who called Daniel a “hot cop.” Her trace DNA became the linchpin in the case.

At her lab in Carlsbad, California, Ryan showed me how Oklahoma City police crime lab analyst Elaine Taylor neglected to perform simple serological and forensic tests on Holtzclaw’s uniform pants.

She explained that Taylor did not use an alternate light source, “which is a very common practice” in sexual assault cases to detect saliva or vaginal fluid stains. Nor did Taylor conduct basic saliva tests (which she oddly told the jury she “refused” to do or a presumptive vaginal fluid test, which Ryan demonstrated.

Ryan also noted how Taylor “incorrectly stated that no male DNA was present in two” of four DNA samples taken, “when in fact there was.”

The reason the error was so grave is that prosecutor Gayland Gieger who has zero training in forensic science used Taylor’s false characterization to argue and bolster his own unscientific conclusion that because Holtzclaw’s DNA was not found in the minuscule mixtures of multiple contributors, the DNA could have only gotten there through sexual contact via the teen accuser’s vaginal fluid.

“Well, you can’t say that,” Ryan commented. “If you don’t do a test for something, you can’t make a statement like that. … There was absolutely no body fluid identification,” she told me. “It’s not scientifically sound.”

Moreover, in reaction to Gieger’s mockery of transfer DNA at trial and Gregory and Davis’s claims to me that it is “almost impossible” to transfer DNA indirectly, Ryan, who has worked as a DNA analyst for both public and private DNA labs and served as an expert witness in forensic serology and DNA analysis more than 100 times, forcefully responded:

That’s not what the journal research shows. There are article after article after article talking about not just primary transfer — we directly contact each other — but secondary transfer. Now we’re discovering there’s tertiary transfer. A study by Dr. Peter Gill, who’s one of the co-authors of our paper (on Holtzclaw) as well as a co-author of a recent journal article, found quaternary transfer.

Both Turvey and Ryan point to the incompetent mishandling of the evidence bag containing Holtzclaw’s pants by Rocky Gregory (who is the son-in-law of forensic analyst Elaine Taylor) as a potential route for DNA transfer and contamination.

While watching video of Gregory sticking his bare hand in the evidence bag, Turvey remarked:

This shows somebody who doesn’t understand physical evidence, doesn’t care about the physical evidence, so it’s not just creating an environment where contamination is likely, but also showing a culture where they don’t care about physical evidence at all.

Turvey and Ryan, who do not know each other and who have had no contact with Holtzclaw or his family, are two of six internationally renowned experts including Dr. Peter Gill who released a public report on scientific issues in Holtzclaw’s case last summer.

Because of systemic failures in the basic testing, handling, collection, analysis and interpretation of evidence, the scientists determined that Holtzclaw “was deprived of his due process right to a fair trial” and that his “conviction should be overturned and he should be given a new trial.”

Scientific and ethical lapses before, during and after the Holtzclaw trial should raise alarm bells across forensic and investigative communities inside and outside the Sooner State.

Repeated evasions of transparency by Oklahoma prosecutors and police brass about their handling of the Holtzclaw case should trouble criminal justice watchdogs on all sides of the ideological spectrum nationwide.

Any kind of enjoyable social activities were barred, including listening to music, dancing, drinking, dating, women participating in a chess championship  unless you were wearing a hijab or attending a football match or other sporting event if men were playing in it. If it made you smile, if it gave you hope, it was probably against the law, such as what could be worn, whom you were allowed to talk to, what you could listen to, and whether or not you pray or fast during Ramadan. Guns and Culture: Two Presidents Reveal the Divide 

by Nate Jackson:  A study in contrasts. After the horrific mass murder in Florida Wednesday, the reactions from the two sides were predictable. Leftists opened their assault with the usual calls for gun control and vilely slandered those of us who disagree, while defenders of Liberty took a reasonable approach to rights, freedom and culture. Same as it ever was.

This contrast was highlighted particularly well by the current president and his predecessor.
          “Caring for our kids is our first job,” liar-nObama tweeted Thursday. “And until we can honestly say that we’re doing enough to keep them safe from harm, including long overdue, common-sense gun safety laws that most Americans want, then we have to change.” liar-nObama’s clear message is that defenders of Liberty and the Second Amendment don’t “care for our kids,” and in fact that we’re preventing those who care from “doing enough” to keep kids safe. Notice too his subtle use of “gun safety laws” instead of gun control. Safety polls better.
          We’d be more inclined to believe leftists want to keep kids safe if 1) their policies actually did so without infringing on the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens and 2) they didn’t routinely exploit the blood of innocents to advocate those statist policies. Never mind their rabid defense of killing children in utero.
          Reminder: liar-nObama and his fellow Democrats had complete control of Washington from 2009-2011, and they did nothing to pass these supposed “common sense” measures.
          Striking an entirely different and more appropriate note, President Donald Trump addressed the nation yesterday and said, “No child, no teacher, should ever be in danger in an American school. No parent should ever have to fear for their sons and daughters when they kiss them goodbye in the morning. … In these moments of heartache and darkness, we hold on to God’s word in Scripture: ‘I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you.’ … We must also work together to create a culture in our country that embraces the dignity of life, that creates deep and meaningful human connections, and that turns classmates and colleagues into friends and neighbors.”
          Leftists have destroyed our cultural embrace of the dignity of life because they prefer to advocate rampant and damaging immorality, which breaks families and aborts children. And they’ve broken “meaningful human connections” because they instead pit identity groups against each other for political gain.
          Guns have always been a part of American culture and Liberty. Hate, vice and licentiousness are things the Left has cultivated in the last 50 years. Whether it’s a typical weekend in any inner city across American or a mass murder like the one in Florida, we’re witnessing the horrific results.  ~The Patriot Post

Vandals Desecrate U.S. Flag

Hurricane High School called in the FBI which investigated and said the incident is not related to Islamic terrorism. As part of the vandalism, graffiti was found on a school wall, reading, “ISIS is comi,” which is assumed to mean “coming.” The paint and black flag have been removed and a new U.S. flag is back where it belongs. UC-Berkeley Providing $800k

The university has allocated between $400,000 and $800,000 to meet the various needs of the growing illegal alien population on campus, said UC-Berkeley Chancellor Carol Christ. The funds will help cover the “DACA Financial Gap” and provide aid to those students as well as help pay for demanded additional office space for the undocumented student center which has been in place for the last six years. The money will also help any student that may lose their DACA status. The case was brought by Pacific Legal Foundation on behalf of nine Hartford parents against the state Department of Education’s race-based enrollment quotas and lottery. PLF explains the magnet schools offer special instruction and opportunities and attract a diverse student body. The liberals say Trump is such an awful person, which apparently excuses their monomaniacal obsession with destroying his presidency. Yet Vice President Mike Pence is one of the finest people around, and they can't stand him, either. Big surprise.

Remember how they ridiculed Pence for saying he has a rule that he won't dine alone with a woman who's not his wife or attend events where alcohol is served without his wife? Pence didn't originate the rule. I've heard variations of it from Christians, including my pastor, for years.

Well, the left wouldn't tolerate that innocuous practice of self-discipline. No, his rule to avoid any appearance of impropriety or unnecessary temptation incurred the wrath of some liberals. They said that refusing to meet with women is a form of discrimination because it deprives them of informal networking opportunities that could advance their careers. Sheryl Sandberg, chief operating officer of Facebook, said that to make it fair, men should apply the rule to men, as well. In other words, no dining alone with anyone.

Sometimes you just can't win. So the vice president's efforts to lead a godly life simply cannot stand. He not only isn't praised for the noble gesture; he's trashed for it.

Last week, lovely leftists were at it again, and the Winter Olympics in South Korea was their venue. The liberal networks and print media salivated over the opportunity to compare Pence, unfavorably, to Kim Yo Jong, the sister of one of the world's most despicable dictators, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Under this headline, "Kim Jong-un's Sister Turns On the Charm, Taking Pence's Spotlight," The New York Times had a field day, writing, "Flashing a sphinx-like smile and without ever speaking in public, Ms. Kim managed to outflank Mr. Trump's envoy to the Olympics, Vice President Mike Pence, in the game of diplomatic image-making."

I'm sure it was news to Pence that he was competing with this Nork wonder woman for attention. No doubt Ivanka Trump was also surprised to learn that the press dubbed this Commie super-sibling "North Korea's Ivanka."

But you'll have to forgive the liberals' enthusiasm. They simply can't contain their childlike excitement for communist dictators, such as Cuba's Castro brothers or the Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara.

If one were inclined to psychoanalyze the leftist mind, it would be interesting to explore how the leftist can put "charm offensive" and "North Korea" in the same sentence. Do liberals think the entire world is vapid enough to actually believe that the malevolence of a murderous regime can be mitigated by a flurry of public smiles or a squad of Olympic cheerleaders dancing in militaristic unison? But enough about that.

The latest Pence-dissing came on ABC's "The View." A few of the show's adorable hosts mocked Pence's Christian faith -- you know, that annoying superstition that inspired the "Pence rule." The segment began when they played a clip from "Celebrity Big Brother," showing former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman deriding Pence.

"As bad as y'all think Trump is," she said, "you would be worried about Pence. ... Everybody that's wishing for impeachment might want to reconsider their life. ... I'm Christian. I love Jesus. But he thinks Jesus tells him to say things."

Reacting to the clip, Sunny Hostin said, "I think what was interesting is that she said that Jesus tells Mike Pence things to say." Pence, she said, is a hated figure in Indiana, where she went to law school. "I think when you have a Mike Pence that now sort of puts this religious veneer on things and calls people 'values voters,' I think we're in a dangerous situation."

Joyous Joy Behar said, "It's one thing to talk to Jesus. It's another thing when Jesus talks to you." That sent the sycophantic audience into convulsions of mindless applause. "That's called mental illness." Outdoing herself, Behar added, "Can he talk to Mary Magdalene without his wife in the room?" That was yet another swipe at the "Pence rule" wrapped in an offensively sacrilegious and even less subtle Christian slur.

There must be an acute case of collective cognitive dissonance, pathological denial or arrogant indifference among many leftists about their attitude toward Christianity.

Every time conservatives complain about the popular culture's assaults on Christians and Christianity, the left mocks in unison, as if anyone making the charge is delusional. When the national Democratic Party is criticized for booing God, Democrats gaslight their accusers as all being deceived by their lying eyes.

Why can't they just own up to their contempt for Christians -- at least Christians who actually believe what Christians claim to believe? Wouldn't it be easier to have a national dialogue on this -- as liberals are always eager to do -- if each side were honest about where it stands?

You see, in liberals' view, Trump is abominable, but Pence might be even worse because he not only claims to be a Christian but, unlike Trump in their eyes, actually is one. His ideas are "dangerous." And his going to God in prayer and believing he gets subtle promptings from the Holy Spirit just proves he's mentally ill. Is it OK to say "LOL" in a column?

Leftists had better hold their fire against Trump, lest they wind up with the dastardly Mike Pence. LOL.

Immigration Reform Dies in Senate 

by Thomas Gallatin:  Four immigration reform bills hit the Senate floor on Thursday and all four bills failed to reach the 60-vote threshold needed for passage. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) proposed legislation that most mirrored Donald Trump’s desired plan, and it went down in flames as it garnered fewer than 40 votes. Recall that Trump’s plan would have granted amnesty to 1.8 million illegal alien “Dreamers,” while also ending chain migration and the visa lottery, as well as added funding for the construction of a border wall.

          Fourteen Republicans voted against the Grassley plan, including Sen. Ted Cruz (TX), who lamented, “The plans that are before the Senate right now — I think they don’t make any sense at all. We should not be granting citizenship to people here illegally.” He pointedly added, “DACA was just a work permit. Why would Republicans be galloping to the left of Barack liar-nObama?”
          After the votes, Sen. rino-Lindsey Graham (R-SC) opined, “I don’t think the president helped very much, but the bottom line is the demagogues won again on the Left and the Right.”
          So, after all the bipartisan efforts to pass an immigration deal before Trump’s March 5 deadline for the ending of DACA, lawmakers find themselves back at square one. But ironically, even with both Trump and Republicans willing to move to the left by considering some form of amnesty for illegal alien “Dreamers,” Democrats won’t budge on ending the visa lottery or chain migration, and they have cynically reversed course over the last few years regarding funding for a border wall. It’s clear that Democrats have no real desire to stop illegal immigration, nor do they wish to solve the DACA problem when it’s far more useful as a campaign issue. by Jordan Candler:  Some folks may have forgotten how close Rep. scum-Keith Ellison (D-MI) came to heading the Democratic National Committee (DNC) last year. Barack liar-nObama’s former labor secretary, Tom Perez, ultimately took the helm, but scum-Ellison came in a close second (the final vote was 235-200). Not all was lost for the runner-up, however: scum-Ellison was still chosen — no doubt because they share similar ideals — by Perez to serve as deputy chairman, giving him enormous influence in the Democrat Party. This is concerning by virtue of the fact that the Michigan lawmaker has both a radical ideology and highly unnerving connections.

          Those connections include Iranian President Hassan Rouhani — whose nation is considered a state sponsor of terror — and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. This week it was reported that in September 2013, scum-Ellison, also a Muslim, met with Rouhani and Farrakhan privately over dinner just outside the UN headquarters. He has had additional rendezvouses with Farrakhan, the most recent reportedly being 2015, but their affiliation dates back to at least the mid-1990s.
          scum-Ellison knew his relationship with Farrakhan was a problem, which explains his penning a Washington Post op-ed in December 2016 in which he said, “I glossed over the hurtful and divisive language he [Farrakhan] directed at other communities” and “neglected to scrutinize the words of those such as Khalid Muhammad and Farrakhan who mixed a message of African American empowerment with scapegoating of other communities.”scum-Ellison’s op-ed was not received well by Farrakhan, who critiqued it as “deceitful.” And why shouldn’t he have? There is ample evidence that there was far more to their relationship than scum-Ellison cares to admit.
          The Nation of Islam is a hateful, anti-Semitic cult that high-profile Democrats yearn to associate with, just not publicly. In 2005, Barack liar-nObama was depicted in a photograph meeting with Louis Farrakhan. But as we noted, the media obligingly overlooked some of liar-nObama’s other sordid connections to guys like Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers. The media would have treated his photo of Farrakhan the same way. scum-Ellison’s situation is no different. This sort of leverage was the crux of Haley’s threat that the United States would be “taking names” ahead of the recent U.N. At his Jan. 30 State of the Union speech, Trump made it clear that US foreign assistance should “always serve American interests, and only go to America’s friends.” But the administration’s fiscal 2019 budget request released this week takes a step back. The 2019 request restored funding to 24 of the 37 countries that were zeroed out in the fiscal 2018 request — a move that Congress rejected  during appropriations. The Iran-Israel War Flares Up

On Friday night Iran dispatched a drone from Syria... that penetrated Israeli airspace in the Golan Heights. Israel destroyed it with an Apache helicopter. Then on Saturday Israel sent eight F-16s across the border to strike the airfield in the Homs governorate, called the T-4 base, where the drone originated, as well as a handful of other Iranian targets. Although the mission was a success, one F-16 was shot down by Syrian antiaircraft fire—though the pilot made it back to Israel, where he and his navigator ejected successfully. This was the most significant clash to date between Israel and the so-called Axis of Resistance—Iran, Syria’s Assad regime and Hezbollah—since Iran began deploying soldiers and proxies to Syria six years ago. Israel insists its response was limited and its intent is to contain this conflagration. Its critics worry that the skirmish could explode into one of the worst wars the Middle East has ever seen. { jewishworldreview.com } ~ With the Syrian rebels on the run and the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad gaining momentum, Iran is seeking to rewrite the "rules of the game" governing Israel's actions in Syria.

Last weekend's clashes on Israel's northern border occurred within this context. An Iranian drone breached Israeli airspace, Israel retaliated by bombing multiple targets deep in Syrian territory, and Syria then shot down an Israeli fighter jet.

Before last Saturday, Israel had established an expectation that its strikes on Iranian-Hezbollah weapons convoys and production facilities in Syria would not be met with an effective military response; Syria and Hezbollah couldn't afford war with Israel, nor did they have the capabilities to seriously retaliate. This state of affairs was obviously disruptive for Iranian designs in the region and a bitter pill for the Assad regime to swallow.

By launching a sophisticated unmanned aerial vehicle into Israeli airspace on Saturday, Iran set off a chain reaction, which led the Israeli Air Force to strike components of Assad's air defenses and Iranian positions in Syria. This gave the Assad regime an opportunity to set a new precedent by firing on Israeli jets over Israeli territory, downing an Israeli F-16, and provoking further Israeli Air Force strikes on Syrian targets.

Because it was the first time in over three decades that an Israeli jet was brought down by enemy fire, the immediate response by some analysts was to declare that the conflict in the region had entered a "new strategic phase."

The secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council said, "The era of hit and run is over," in reference to Israeli airstrikes on Syrian soil. Even the Israeli news site Walla made the foreboding prediction that this was a sign of ominous things to come along Israel's northern front.

They are wrong. The loss of one Israeli jet should not be exaggerated; it is not a watershed moment that will alter the strategic balance in the Middle East. After all, the Syrians and Russians have lost numerous aircraft over the course of the civil war in Syria including recently, and that has hardly ushered in an era in which they do not control the skies over their respective areas of influence.

When considering air superiority, a single case does not change the strategic balance, as the calculations are about averages, not individual instances. By this metric, because Israel's enemies have succeeded in bringing down only a single plane over the past 30 years despite that fact that it has launched over 100 strikes in Syria since the start of the civil war and destroyed the Assad regime's nuclear reactor in 2007, according to the New Yorker, there is little basis for questioning Israel's air superiority.

To demonstrate that the "rules" had not changed, Israel was quick to re-establish its right to strike immediately following the downing of the F-16. The only way to reaffirm that right is to exercise it. By doing so, the Israeli Air Force took a risk that its pilots would face more anti-aircraft fire, but the lack of resistance it encountered highlighted the fact that the Syrian military was unwilling to risk of escalating the clashes into a wider conflict that it did not want and could not win.

In its far-reaching retaliatory raid on a dozen Syrian air defense sites and Iranian targets, including the command center from which the drone was being remotely piloted, Israel sought to make clear there would be a cost if Assad and his Iranian allies challenged the "rules" again in the near future. By causing heavy damage to Syrian defense infrastructure but not going "all the way" and completely decimating all air defense units, Israel is well positioned to deter future incursions into its airspace. It demonstrated that it could demolish all Syrian forces if necessary to establish complete air superiority, but by not doing so gave Damascus an incentive to avoid future conflict.

The first-ever direct strikes on manned Iranian fixtures in Syria also demonstrated what may become an important component of Israeli strategy to deter Iran in Syria: Iranian forces stationed in Damascus are 800 miles from Tehran and only a few dozen miles from Israel, which leaves them extremely vulnerable to Israeli aerial attacks. Thus, while it is uncomfortable and undesirable for Israel to have an Iranian presence next door, it does also present some opportunities in the sense that Iran is far more exposed and, if Israeli leaders deem it necessary, Israel can attack Iran without entering Iranian territory.

After Israel's counterstrike, the Iranian-led axis appears to have backed down. Russia's statement urging "all sides to exercise restraint" indicated that it was not supportive of Iran's provocations that might put the Kremlin's "project" of saving the Assad regime at risk. The Assad regime barely survived seven years of war against the Syrian rebels, and so it stands little chance of holding up against an advanced and professional military like Israel's.

Considering that the Syrian regime is in tatters, Assad is probably more keen on rebuilding his decimated country than on bearing the brunt of Israeli attacks launched in response to Iranian provocations. Hezbollah may be arming itself with advanced weaponry, but it is not interested in fighting another devastating conflict with Israel that could spread to Lebanon. Finally, the Iranian people's protests against their government's economic mismanagement at home and adventurism abroad indicate that the regime should be wary of increasing its commitments in Syria.

Even if quiet has returned to Israel's northern front, this is unlikely to be the last skirmish. The next escalation in which both sides test each other's boundaries and aim to rewrite the "rules" will come eventually. It is not a matter of if, but when.

Budget Betrayal 

by Arnold Ahlert:  Last week, a Republican-controlled Congress passed a two-year budget deal that makes a complete mockery of anything resembling fiscal discipline in a nation already saddled with $20.5 trillion of national debt, and an astonishing $63.8 trillion of unfunded liabilities,  after  subtracting the value of federal assets. For perspective sake, that shortfall equates to $260,382 for every person living in America, and 451% of the nation’s gross domestic product.

          Nevertheless, courtesy of a 71-28 vote of approval in the Senate, and a 240-186 thumbs up from the House, deficit spending will likely hit $984 billion in FY 2018, and once again top $1 trillion in FY2019, paving the way to $30 trillion of national debt within the next 10 years.
          Columnist Andrew Malcom spells it out, writing, “Remember Republicans’ enduring commitment over most of our lifetimes to eliminate the federal budget deficit and trim the national debt? Well, forget it.”
          Forget it indeed. And it’s not just Republicans. The irresponsible mindset of both parties is the same, albeit for different reasons. Republicans want more money for the military, Democrats for the social welfare state.
          Hence, the chest-puffing. “This is a great victory for our men and women in uniform. Republicans and Democrats joined together to finally give our troops the resources and our generals the certainty to plan for the future,” crowed House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI). “What makes Democrats proudest of this bill is that after a decade of cuts to programs that help the middle class, we have a dramatic reversal,” boasted Sen. Chuck clown-Schumer (D-NY).
          Cuts? When liar-Bill Clinton left office, the federal debt was $5.8 trillion. When George W. Bush left office, it was $11.6 trillion. When Barack liar-nObama left office, it was $19.5 trillion.
          Moreover, most of the spending is on mandatory automatic pilot. In 2018, the federal government will spend 27% of its budget for health care, 26% for pensions (federal employees and Social Security), 22% for the military — and 8% servicing the existing debt.
          That’s 82% of the entire outlay. Debt service must be paid or we’ll precipitate worldwide financial Armageddon. Moreover, despite massive spending levels, both Medicare and Social Security face insolvency over the next two decades. How do we solve the problem? Absent serious reform, we don’t.
          Unfortunately, an utter lack of seriousness rules. “Republicans believe that tax cuts and regulatory reform will negate the need for spending reductions because the first two policies will ignite the economy, allowing for economic growth to outpace debt creation (and the larger growth would also mean the more money that companies and citizens paid to the government in taxes without an actual tax increase),” explains columnist Brandon J. Wiechert. “Republicans say this was precisely what happened during the Reagan boom. The GOP is correct.”
          Being correct is irrelevant, because with the exceptions of Presidents Warren G. Harding and Calvin Coolidge, every administration, from Woodrow Wilson through Barack liar-nObama, added to the national debt. In other words, despite increased levels of revenue — including revenue increases spurred by the Kennedy, Reagan and Bush administrations’ tax cuts — spending outlays have consistently outpaced revenue intake. And they’ve done so for over a century.
          Democrats? Just as in Europe, American leftists would rather dodge serious welfare state reform and instead import a younger workforce of immigrants — who also have higher birthrates than native populations — to support the increasing demands of an increasingly older native population. That several studies done on both sides of the Atlantic reveal immigration provides no net surplus to the economic pie means little to a Democrat Party with visions of securing a permanent majority of voters.
          The searing irony? Like Democrats, immigrants want bigger government, which will inevitably make the problem worse.
          The general public? As columnist Nathanael Blake explains, young voters with the most to lose “are often disengaged and besotted with adolescent socialist fantasies,” while retirees and near retirees who vote religiously “aren’t keen on politicians who raise taxes or cut military spending, and they will annihilate any politician who threatens their government checks and health care.”
          True enough, but much of the public is also blissfully ignorant, or angrily so. For the blissful, $20 trillion of debt is little more than a chimerical number, representing a crisis that has yet to occur. Or in a more selfish sense, one that will occur “long after I’m gone” so as not to affect them in any way. For the angry, one often hears the familiar refrain about “solving” the crisis by cutting off funding “to countries that hate us,” even though the nation’s entire foreign aid budget comprises less than 1%of our annual spending.
          If the public won’t make intelligent or hard choices, why should the people they vote for do so?
          There was a time when the politicians tried. In 1982, President Ronald Reagan issued an executive order establishing “The Private Sector Survey on Cost Control” (PSSCC), more commonly known as the Grace Commission. It was led by industrialist J. Peter Grace, who tasked approximately 2,000 business executives with the project of getting rid of federal waste and inefficiency. Two years later, the group presented its findings to Congress: if their recommendations were followed, the government could save $424 billion over a three year period.
          In 1985, the federal government spent $946.3 billion. If one simply divides the Grace Commission saving totals by three (instead of factoring in year over year increases in the budget and commensurate savings) government spending could have been reduced by approximately 14% per year. Trump has proposed a $4.4 trillion budget for this year. Fourteen percent of that comes to $616 billion. Congress completely ignored the Grace Commission’s findings.
          Nothing has changed. Thus, for example, the fact that the Pentagon can’t account for $800 million in construction project spending, or that Medicare and Medicaid fraud costs the nation approximately $120-$150 billion per year, or that a third annual “Federal Fumbles” report released last Nov. by Sen. James Lankford revealed the government wasted $473 billion on frivolous spending, still fails to resonate with our free-spending political class.
          Why? Because spending “other peoples’ money” coupled with the need to get re-elected virtually guarantees indifference. “The electoral math suggests that there will be no reform or restraint except what will eventually be forced on us by the pitiless math of accounting and economics,” Blake warns.
          Unless the nation demands term limits. Only genuine statesmen can save us now, and budget epitomizes the difference between them and the terminally self-interested career politicians in both parties. Republicans who routinely abandon oft-stated fiscal principles, and Democrats who never had them to begin with. That’s how you get $20.5 trillion of national debt — with no end in sight.

The proposed budget also significantly reins in U.S. funding for the UN's disgraced “peace” armies, which have developed a well-deserved global reputation for raping children and terrorizing populations in every nation they occupy. Florida Shooting — Reflecting the Worst in Our Culture 

by Thomas Gallatin:  Almost as soon as news hit the airways yesterday of the mass murder of 17 students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, at the hands of a 19-year-old former student, the nation braced for the politicization of yet another atrocity. And as night follows day, anti-Second Amendment politicians took aim and launched their salvos. House Minority Leader Nancy Pulosi (D-CA) released a press statement that read in part, “Today, another American community is reeling from the horror of gun violence, perpetrated against innocent children. … Too many families have lost someone to the senseless epidemic of gun violence. Congress has a moral responsibility to take common sense action to prevent the daily tragedy of gun violence in communities across America. Enough is enough.” Recall it was just two weeks ago when Pulosi and her fellow Democrats  refused to stand for the parents of two girls murdered by MS-13 illegal aliens.

          Pulosi’s hypocrisy is nothing new, but it is a reflection of the worst in our culture. As we and many other defenders of Americans’ Second Amendment rights have pointed out time and time again, firearms are merely tools — the intent of the individual wielding the tool is where the problem lies. To attack the Second Amendment is to attack Americans’ Liberty itself. But political opportunists like Pulosi ignore the real cause of the problem and attack freedom.
          The reality of the world is that people hurt others. And no matter the number of laws passed, nothing will change this fact. Taking away people’s rights to protect themselves doesn’t stop the evil; in fact, it only allows for the evil to grow. Too many people in Western culture have bought into the lie that people are essentially motivated by good, selfless impulses, when in truth the opposite is the case. How else does one explain evil?
          With this latest atrocity, individuals who knew the killer were quick to acknowledge that they were not shocked that he would perpetrate this mass murder. It goes beyond his being described by several people as “weird.” In fact, a YouTube producer reportedly notified the FBI months ago regarding a comment he made claiming, “I’m going to be a professional school shooter.”
          President Donald Trump also noted this, tweeting, “So many signs that the Florida shooter was mentally disturbed, even expelled from school for bad and erratic behavior. Neighbors and classmates knew he was a big problem. Must always report such instances to authorities, again and again!” He’s absolutely right. When you see something, say something. And those warnings must be heeded.
          The questions will be raised about what should have or could have been done to prevent this violent young man from engaging in this mass murder. What we do know is that Americans’ Second Amendment rights did not create this monster, and fixating on limiting gun rights as a “solution” to the problem only serves to punish the innocent for crimes of the guilty. This is a moral problem of the heart that politics is powerless to solve. Yet politicians like Pulosi chastise conservatives for defending Americans’ Second Amendment rights, while ignoring the blatant hypocrisy of demanding citizenship rights for illegal aliens who by definition are law-breakers.   ~The Patriot Post

More Evidence the Ethanol Mandate Hurts the Economy 

by Jordan Candler:  Oil refinery Philadelphia Energy Solutions (PES) has a serious beef with the George W. Bush-era biofuel mandate that it says has forced the company into bankruptcy. Unfortunately, other companies face a similar plight absent major regulatory changes. It’s been more than a decade now since Congress stipulated that ethanol be blended with gasoline before hitting the market. It’s a boon for farmers, but it hurts both consumers and refineries like Philadelphia Energy Solution. Much of that has to do with a regulatory requirement known as renewable identification numbers (RINs).

According to The Washington Times, “RINs work to ensure that refiners — who hold the ‘point of obligation’ under law, meaning they are responsible for blending ethanol with gas — meet the yearly biofuels quotas set by the EPA. But many refiners, such as Philadelphia Energy Solutions, don’t have the infrastructure to blend the fuels. In such circumstances, companies use a system that somewhat resembles a cap-and-trade approach: buying unused RINs from larger refineries that have blending capacity and have extra credits to spare. The price of those RINs fluctuates wildly. Just a few years ago, RINs were sold for just a few cents, but they have skyrocketed to well over $1 recently.”
          This process is unfair and elicits corruption from major industry players that have better resources and can sell credits for their own benefit. As one energy-sector official explained it: “It’s picking and choosing winners within the oil industry in a way that’s causing some to go bankrupt.” Moreover, when used to support large-scale operations, that money adds up quickly. In fact, PES says crude oil accounts for its biggest expense, but, amazingly, that’s followed in second place by RIN compliance costs. Yet Renewable Fuels Association CEO Bob Dinneen asserts, “If refiners truly want lower RIN prices, the answer is really quite simple: blend more ethanol.” He added, “The very purpose of the [mandate] is to drive expanded consumption of renewable fuels, and the RIN provides a powerful incentive to do just that.”
          This is a baffling and self-defeating position to take. Anyone who owns an older vehicle or lawn care equipment knows the mechanical damage that ethanol causes. Despite this, congressional leaders like Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) remain diehard fans of the mandate. According to Grassley, “I’m confident that the Renewable Fuel Standard isn’t harming refineries, that other factors are at work and that the RFS law is working as Congress intended. Once these facts are known, there ought to be an end to the misleading rhetoric blaming the RFS.” Grassley is so invested in this ruse that last October he threatened to sideline Trump’s nominees unless they left the mandate alone.
          Unfortunately, Grassley’s support is shared by the Trump administration. Last May, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced the mandate would stay intact. At least EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt recognizes the RIN catastrophe. He recently said, “We need RIN reform. It’s something I’ve talked to Congress about. We have to take steps to address this, and I think there are many that understand that.”
          But even he went on to explain, “This isn’t getting rid of the ethanol requirement; this is the accounting mechanism to ensure that a certain percentage of our fuel actually has ethanol. So it truly is an enforcement mechanism that is being used in ways that it really wasn’t intended. We need to get reform around that.” What all of them miss is that the RIN situation is just a symptom of a very bad law. The U.S. is awash in oil, but that production can’t be maximized unless the biofuel mandate is repealed in its entirety. At least the Philadelphia Energy Solutions ordeal provides another good reason to keep trying.

{ jewishworldreview.com } ~ When House Minority Leader Nancy Pulosi made history last week for the longest speech delivered on the House floor, she deserved praise for two things: her stamina in the eight-hour talk fest and her ability to do it in 4-inch spike heels.

But politically, she likely did little more than create another attack ad for Republicans to run against Democratic candidates around the country.

Pulosi's speech, mostly stories about "Dreamers" — the people who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children by their parents and are caught in a political firestorm between both parties — was red meat for the Democratic base. But perorations on behalf of immigrants who are in the country illegally are unlikely to excite the independents, and swing Republicans and centrist Democrats whose votes will determine control of Congress.

Similarly tone-deaf were her warnings last year that the Republican tax-cut bill is the apocalypse. "It is the end of the world," Pulosi told reporters after the bill passed. "This is Armageddon."

And calling the $1,000 bonuses that more than 3 million American workers have received over the past few weeks as a result of the bill "crumbs" was also not helpful.

A $1,000 bonus is not a crumb, and neither is an extra $100 per paycheck. As Democrats were supposed to spend their week fine-tuning their message at their party retreat, they had to face some hard truths about the face of the Party. Pulosi is out of touch with people who live outside of her San Francisco district and Washington, D.C.

Most of the people who live in the more than 100 House districts the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is targeting are happy with their crumbs, don't see the connection between immigrants who are in the country illegally and a budget deal, couldn't afford Pulosi's high heels anyway and, so far, don't see Armageddon on the horizon.

No one thing or person moves the needle more for Republicans than House Minority Leader Pulosi. Place her in a head-to-head focus group against Trump in a congressional swing district currently held by a Republican and Trump comes out on top every time.

That just hurts Democratic candidates.

This is why Conor Lamb, the Democratic nominee in the special election for Pennsylvania's 18th Congressional District, said he would like to see Democrats replace Pulosi as their leader.

Lamb is no conservative. He's pro-abortion rights and believes there needs to be a broader discussion of gun control. Yet he faces enough headwinds in this Republican-leaning district, and so, he had to moderate somewhere to help him win. Distancing himself from Pulosi was the most obvious choice.

Still, the GOP is running ads in the district, placing Lamb side by side with Pulosi on the issues.

Democrats have a decent chance of taking back the majority in the House, or at least making it close. The signs of a wave are percolating but not quite clear. One of their biggest obstacles is Nancy Pulosi's unpopularity among voters outside San Francisco.

As one Democratic strategist working on several House races put it: "We cannot continue to turn people off. The door just started to open for us, and if we don't get our messaging right, it is going to shut in our face before it ever opened."

Cursing $1,000 crumbs, declaring Armageddon and standing in heels isn't going to open that door.

The Next Budget Boondoggle

by Paul Albaugh:  President Donald Trump on Monday released his $4.4 trillion budget proposal for 2019. As The Daily Signal adds, Trump “is proposing a 10-year spending plan that never produces a balanced budget, and increases deficit spending by $7.2 trillion over the next decade.” Did someone say “Tea Party”? No, apparently not.

          Most conservatives have longed for the day when our elected officials would cut taxes, rein in spending and produce a balanced budget. We will have to long some more because from the looks of Trump’s proposal and the actions of Republicans in Congress, the days of working for any semblance of fiscal sanity are past. Instead of reducing spending, Trump’s latest proposal would add to the national debt even more because it makes little effort to control deficit spending.
          “Talk about an afterthought,” says The Wall Street Journal. “Congress just passed a two-year budget outline that supersedes nearly everything Mr. Trump is proposing.” Indeed, presidential budget proposals never pass Congress, but they provide a guide to the administration’s priorities.
          Among the many problems in Washington, one of the biggest is that there are too few fiscally conservative politicians. And it’s not just Democrats who have a spending problem — it’s the majority of Republicans in Congress as well. And, oh, by the way, the GOP currently has the majority in the House and the Senate. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul perhaps said it best when he declared, “When the Democrats are in power, Republicans appear to be the conservative party, but when Republicans are in power, it seems there is no conservative party.”
          The budget Trump signed last week adds $320 billion in spending to an already bloated budget. Republicans caved to just about every one of the Democrats’ spending proposals, which will of course add to the national debt. Trump’s 2019 budget proposal sets a goal of $3 trillion in spending cuts, but it doesn’t balance the budget because those cuts aren’t cuts — they’re reductions in anticipated growth. Trump is counting on an improving economy due to the tax cuts to help with narrowing the gap. Thus his administration assumes that by cutting funds in certain government programs but spending more in others, the debt will shrink relative to the economy. That has not worked out well in the past.
          Republicans have campaigned for years about cutting taxes, cutting spending and balancing the budget. So far we’ve seen action on the first plank, but little on the other two. Of course, Donald Trump did not campaign as a small government conservative — he campaigned as a businessman, a deal maker who could “drain the swamp.”
          For example, Trump’s two budget proposals keep his campaign promises to not touch Social Security and Medicare, but those programs account for an enormous part of the U.S. budget and are not sustainable. As the Journal notes, “Look at ‘payments for individuals,’ which encompass such income transfers as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and food stamps, among other things. This category was 47.7% of outlays in 1989 and has steadily climbed to reach an estimated 69.2% in 2019.”
          To be sure, there’s a big difference between food stamps and Social Security, but that’s astounding — nearly 70% of the budget is straight up income redistribution.
          Still, seniors in particular view Social Security and Medicare, not without reason, as something they are due and that shouldn’t be messed with because they paid into the system for decades. Despite the fact, however, that both programs are funded by today’s workers, and that the fiscal future for these government programs looking very bad, people who pay in don’t want the government intervening to “fix” it, because most realize that government fixes usually turn into greater problems. Trump knows this too.
          That leads to the primary factor here. Most voters — from both major political parties — just don’t care about the budget or deficit spending. The issue doesn’t even crack the top 10 list of concerns for most voters. Most voters despise politicians and during election years cry out for smaller government. But when elected officials start talking about spending cuts for this or that program, many of their constituents cry out for the program to remain in place — or demand that more funds be allocated for the particular program.
          Washington politicos know this, which is why both parties, particularly the “centrists” on both sides of the aisle push, pull and compromise on each other’s principles to spend money on pet projects that they think will benefit the majority of their constituents get the most votes. The focus becomes not on fiscal restraint but on pleasing constituents so that those in power can remain in power. The end result, as we have witnessed time and time again, is more of the same.
          That’s why getting a balanced budget passed or actually reducing federal deficit spending may not ever happen because in the end neither party cares enough about the deficit enough to cut money from their favorite programs. Unfortunately, we will continue to get more of the same until the old guard politicians from both parties who have clung to their power for so long are voted out of office and replaced with people who understand the importance of constitutional government run with fiscal restraint.

Democrats Overplay Their Hand With Extreme DACA Demands 

by Louis DeBroux:  The current immigration debate is surreal, worthy of a chapter in a Lewis Carrol novel, where logic is turned upside down and words have no meaning whatsoever because they mean what their utterers want them to mean in that moment.

          The current crisis du jour is the pending end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, known as “DACA,” through which Barack liar-nObama granted protection against deportation for hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens.
          In 2010, with Democrats firmly in control of Congress, liar-nObama faced immense pressure to push amnesty for millions of illegals. At first,  liar-nObama rightly recognized the limits of his power, stating, “I am not king. I can’t do these things just by myself.” In March 2011, he reiterated that position, saying, “With respect to the notion that I can just suspend deportations through executive order, that’s just not the case.” In 2012, desperate for Hispanic voters to bail him out at the ballot box, liar-nObama did an about-face and announced the implementation of the DACA program.
          Of course, Democrats never allow the truth to ruin a political narrative, so despite liar-nObama’s confession that DACA is unconstitutional, and despite the courts concurring, Democrats now claim President Donald Trump is a heartless racist for ending a program that liar-nObama had no right to implement. And two activist judges have issued orders to block Trump’s move.
          In actuality, Trump is being far more compassionate than the law requires. In exchange for securing the border and ending chain migration and the visa lottery, Trump is offering to grant not only amnesty but a path to citizenship for 1.8 million illegals — nearly three times more than signed up for liar-nObama’s DACA program.
          Such generosity has been met with extreme demands by Democrats: amnesty without border security, and a continuation of chain migration, further exploding the number of illegals entering the U.S.
          There is zero legal obligation for the U.S. to grant amnesty to any illegals, and even the claim of a moral obligation is tenuous at best. The blame lies solely with the parents of the illegals who were brought here as children in direct defiance of U.S. immigration laws.
          Regardless, because Americans are a compassionate people, there is widespread agreement that those illegal alien children who are truly here through no fault of their own, and who have known no other country, should be allowed to stay. Even Numbers USA, which advocates for strict limits on immigration, supports giving the so-called “Dreamers” legal status.
          It is important to delineate between the “Dreamers” under DACA and what might be called “DACA-plus.” The DACA recipients took advantage of liar-nObama’s (illegal) program and applied for the deferral, paid fees and were issued work permits that allowed them to be hired by American employers. There were about 800,000 who took advantage of the program, minus the approximately 110,000 who were deported for crimes, or failed to renew their green cards, or married U.S. citizens. These are the people Americans support allowing to stay.
          Not good enough, say Democrats. They cynically shut down the government last month to pressure Republicans to capitulate to their demands to expand the amnesty pool to include illegals who came here late in their teens, who were not born here, and for whom America is not their only home. It was a showdown they lost, but it was a revealing moment.
          What is particularly galling to many Americans is to have their compassion rewarded with contempt and ingratitude. The job of the American government is first and foremost to protect the rights and interests of American citizens. As President Trump stated in his State of the Union Address, “My duty, and the sacred duty of every elected official in this chamber, is to defend Americans, to protect their safety, their families, their communities, and their right to the American Dream. … Because Americans are dreamers, too.”
          Democrats are overplaying their hand, and it will come back to bite them. Nothing will erode the goodwill of the American people like being told that their kindness is not only owed to the illegals who broke our laws but that it is insufficient.
          No other nation takes in as many immigrants as the United States. No other nation treats them as well as we do. Not only have we allowed them to stay, we have spent tens of billions of dollars feeding, housing and educating them.
           Compare that to Mexico, home to many of these illegals. Mexico is in the process of a harsh crackdown on illegals coming up through Central America. In Mexico, instead of access to welfare programs and education, illegals are rounded up in police raids, imprisoned, beaten and often tortured.
          America’s current situation is untenable. Our immigration laws must be reformed to deal with those here and those who want to come here. But in doing so, Americans and their interests should come first. Not one single immigrant or illegal alien has a “right” to come to America. Those allowed to stay do so out of the kindness of the American people.
          And limiting immigration to those who truly love America, who want to embrace our history and culture, who promise to obey our laws, and who will be a net gain for our country is not an unreasonable demand.

Sessions Lauds 'Anglo-American Heritage,' Left Wails 

by Jordan Candler:  “I sincerely hope we can protect what has been called the ‘great writ’ — a writ that has been in place in the Anglo-American legal system for over 700 years.” Yesterday, those words were spoken by Attorney General Jeff Sessions at the National Sheriffs’ Association. And his utterance of that despicable term “Anglo-American” showed the world his true and utterly racist attitude toward non-whites in America.

          Oops. Conversely, those words were offered by Sen. Barack liar-nObama in 2006.
          Here’s what Sessions actually said yesterday at the NSA: “I want to thank every sheriff in America. Since our founding, the independently elected sheriff has been the people’s protector, who keeps law enforcement close to and accountable to people through the elective process. The office of sheriff is a critical part of the Anglo-American heritage of law enforcement. We must never erode this historic office.”
          If words are any indication, liar-nObama and Sessions actually agree on something here. You’d never know it though given the Left’s ridiculous response to and vitriol toward Sessions. According to Hawaii Sen. Brian Schatz: “Do you know anyone who says ‘Anglo-American heritage’ in a sentence? What could possibly be the purpose of saying that other than to pit Americans against each other? For the chief law enforcement officer to use a dog whistle like that is appalling. Best NO vote I ever cast.”
          To answer his first question, yes, we can name someone who says “Anglo-American” in a sentence — Schatz’s fellow Democrat and former black politician, Barack liar-nObama. (Maybe it was liar-nObama’s white half talking.) And the purpose of Sessions saying it revolves around long-standing etiquette. Here’s what DOJ spokesman Ian Prior had to say to rabble-rousing leftists: “As most law students learn in the first week of their first year, Anglo-American law — also known as the common law — is a shared legal heritage between England and America. The sheriff is unique to that shared legal heritage. Before reporters sloppily imply nefarious meaning behind the term, we would suggest that they read any number of the Supreme Court opinions that use the term. Or they could simply put ‘Anglo-American law’ into Google.”
          Writing in National Review, Charles C. W. Cooke elaborates: “[Sessions’] talk was to sheriffs — about sheriffs. His subject was the ‘historic office’ that most of his audience filled. His point … was that, ‘since our founding, the independently elected sheriff’ has played a ‘critical’ role within a law enforcement system that developed in England and was then adopted in America. (‘Sheriff’ derives from a combination of the word ‘shire’ and the word ‘reeve.’) … Within the law, ‘Anglo-American’ does not mean ‘white.’ It does not mean ‘the KKK.’ It is not a ‘dog whistle.’ It is fundamental. It is used — shock! — to refer to those institutions, ideals, structures, and customs that are common to England and the United States.”

{ tommclaughlin.blogspot.com } ~ This is the third winter during which, together with their mother and their other grandfather, I’ve been teaching four of my grandchildren to ski. Their mother was a racer during high school. The other grandfather is a retired principal who once coached a ski team. Their father comes as well when he can take time off from interning to become a teacher and running a contracting business. I’m a retired history teacher and former ski instructor.

On a winter evening

We started with the older two, both girls, when they were five and four respectively. Last year, we began with their brothers — twin boys who were nearly four years old then and who will turn five in a couple of weeks. This year is more fun because all four can now ski on their own. No longer am I in perpetual snowplow with a child between my legs. No more must I follow one while holding a harness. All that was hard on my aging body.

This year I can I can get to know each of them better individually as we ride up on the lift together and talk. Then we slide off and experience the sheer joy of letting gravity pull us back down the hill as we shush from side to side — all the way to the bottom. We ski right back onto the lift because there are no lines to wait in. It’s up-and-down all morning, then into the lodge for lunch.

Every Tuesday is homeschoolers’s day at Shawnee Peak in Bridgton, Maine and we pretty much have the mountain to ourselves as homeschooling families from southern Maine predominate. We arrive about ten in the morning and leave around three in the afternoon — just as busloads of public school students arrive and noisily fill up the lodge. Every week I’m struck by the contrast in demeanor between homeschool and public school kids.

As when teaching anything to any group, some picked it up very quickly while others didn’t. Some took the entire six weeks to make it down the bunny slope by themselves. The fast-learners were quickly bored so I would pass them up to intermediate groups with other instructors while I continued working with the slow-learners. However, such common-sense ability-grouping was vehemently resisted in the public middle school where I taught US History. There, we were expected to teach students of varying abilities all together in one classroom because that was the sacrosanct “middle-school philosophy” of progressive educators. Maybe they’ve realized by now that philosophy only holds the fast learners back, but I doubt it.

After several years as an instructor, skiing lost much of its allure for me as it became associated more with work than with fun. I only did it because one of the benefits was that my own children got season passes I could not otherwise have afforded. Shawnee Peak is only ten minutes away so they skied several times a week. In the intervening fifteen or so years since then I’d skied only about a dozen times.

It’s different now. I’m still instructing but the fun is returning. The grandchildren love it and their excitement is infectious. They spontaneously split off into small groups with other homeschoolers of similar ability, each supervised by a parent or grandparent when necessary. Some stay on the bunny slope while others take different lifts to intermediate or expert slopes.

In one such group with my oldest granddaughter, I asked the names of the other girls and told them mine. One girl asked for my last name, explaining: “We’re not allowed to call grownups by their first names.” Charming. This is my second extended experience with homeschoolers since retiring from public school. Their numbers are growing fast and I hope it continues. They’re such a pleasure to work with after thirty-four years in public schools.

{ legalinsurrection.com } ~ President Donald Trump’s former national security advisor Michael Flynn has come back into the news... after The Washington Examiner‘s Byron York reported that former FBI Director James Comey told Congress the department doesn’t think Flynn lied to them.  According to York, sources close to Comey’s meetings with Congress last March said that what actually happened in those meetings did not match what the media reported. It’s also important to remember that as incoming national security advisor, it’s not illegal or out of the ordinary that Flynn spoke with Kislyak. { conservativeinstitute.org } ~ Deluna is charged with the Jan. 26 felony murder of Rahman Rupani, a 30-year-old father of two... who came to the aid of another man that Deluna shot outside of a store in Houston, Texas. Rupani, whose father owns the store, was married and had two children. The incident reportedly started with a fight involving Deluna and several men at a taco stand close ro the store. Deluna retrieved a gun from his car, returned, and shot one man, according to authorities. Rupani was inside the store when the shot was fired. He rushed outside to come to the victim’s aid before Deluna shot him twice, fatally. A third man came out of the store and was shot in the leg. Susan Rice's Last-Minute CYA Email 

by Political Editors:  At 12:15 p.m. on Inauguration Day 2017, Barack liar-nObama’s National Security Advisor Susan Rice sent herself a fairly important and unusual email (see below). It came to light Monday, thanks to the work of Sens. Chuck Grassley and rino-Lindsey Graham — the same pair that affirmed the House FISA memo findings.

          In the email, Rice made notes about a meeting that occurred two weeks prior on Jan. 5, 2017, involving liar-nObama, then-FBI Director James Comey, then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, loose lips-Joe Biden and Rice. The subject of the conversation was liar-nObama’s supposed desire that the FBI’s investigation into Donald Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia go “by the book.” According to Grassley and rino-Graham, the meeting also covered the phony Christopher Steele dossier — you know, the one funded by liar-Hillary Clinton and the DNC. No wonder “one source familiar with the meeting” denied it covered the dossier.
          That date is significant because this meeting took place the day before Comey and the FBI visited Trump Tower to brief the president-elect on the investigation and the dossier, which had already been used to justify surveillance of Trump’s campaign. As Rice indicates, the meeting participants debated what and how much to tell Trump — liar-nObama wanted to hide some things.
          Rice’s emphasis on liar-nObama’s “by the book” instruction particularly stinks of covering his rear, whether he actually said it or Rice embellished the recollection. Literally on the way out the White House door for the last time, Rice made it a priority to leave a paper trail confirming   liar-nObama’s careful handling of the investigation. If anything had gone wrong — which we now know in great detail just how wrong it did go — that record would supposedly prove it wasn’t liar-nObama’s fault.
          Grassley and rino-Graham wrote their own letter to Rice demanding answers to a few questions by Feb. 22. Those questions include some that are of the “what did you know and when did you know it?” variety. The answers — if Rice bothers to provide them — will be key in understanding more about the whole affair.
