IT FIGURES! Minnesotastan Republican Party forces official to resign after he smeared Hamas-supporting, Jew-hating Muslim congressman, Keith Ellison, on Facebook

Muslims do not assimilate, they infiltrate

Well, when you’re from a state like Minnesota with such a large sharia-supporting Muslim population, many of whom have left to fight along side the Islamic State (ISIS), you’ll often find yourself on your knees kissing the feet of designated terrorist group CAIR.

Star Tribune  Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District Republican Party official published a Facebook post calling Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) the state’s “Head Muslim Goat Humper” and a “raving, Louis Farrakhan supporting, anti-Semite, anti-white racist and fascist American.”

It featured an image of Ellison, dressed in camouflage hunting gear and posing with a wild turkey he apparently had shot. The post writer also derided U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson, D-MN, saying “Peterson has been cozying up to Muslim [expletive] Keith Ellison. Heck, they’re now hunting buddies. Does that mean Muslim refugees coming to western Minnesota?”

Jennifer Carnahan, newly elected chair of the Minnesota Republican Party denounced the since-deleted posts and said the culprit has resigned, although she didn’t disclose that person’s identity.

London: Muslim heart surgeon guilty of molesting women in hospitals, rape charge pending

Source: Mohamed Amrani: Leading heart surgeon guilty of molesting women in London hospitals | London Evening Standard

A world-renowned heart surgeon has been found guilty of molesting women after groping and assaulting them at London hospitals.

Mohamed Amrani, 53, who worked at the Harefield Hospital in west London, is on trial at the Old Bailey over accusations from five women between 2001 and 2014.

The consultant, of Harrow, west London, denied all the claims against him.

A jury deliberated for 20 hours to find him guilty of twice indecently assaulting a woman by groping her breasts through her clothes between 2003 and 2004 and sexually assaulting another woman in 2014.

The court had heard how one victim had complained to the hospital about being indecently assaulted and was allegedly told “just ignore him, he does it to everyone”.

After deliberating for 23 hours, jurors were discharged, having failed to reach a verdict on a charge of rape.

Judge Anne Molyneux allowed the prosecution seven days to consider whether they would seek a retrial and adjourned the case until May 5.

University of Iowa: Muslim student charged with making terror threat (again)

(Muslims do not assimilate, they infiltrate )

Source: University of Iowa student charged with threat of terrorism  h/t Jihad Watch

A University of Iowa student has been charged with threat of terrorism after police say he threatened to bring a gun to graduation.

Soliman Obaid B. Altamimi, 25, went to the university’s International Programs Office at the University Capitol Center around 11:30 a.m. on Friday and asked to make a speech at the graduation ceremony, according to UI police complaints. When staff told Altamimi he couldn’t give a speech, he replied that he “will bring a gun to the final ceremony.”

Altamimi admitted to officers that he made the statement, the complaints state.

Police say Altamimi made a similar statement on Nov. 11, 2016, when he said he would bring a gun to the International Programs Office and shoot international students.

Online court records do not show any charges resulting from that incident.

Regarding the November incident, UI officials said in an email that UI police received a report at the time from another student who shared concerns about Altamimi’s statements.

“Those concerns were taken seriously and UIPD followed up with Mr. Altamimi at that time,” university spokesperson Tricia Brown said in the email.

Threat of terrorism is a class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison. Police complaints also show Altamimi has been charged with third-degree harassment, a simple misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail.

Altamimi is currently being held in the Johnson County Jail on a $12,000 bond.

Left-fascist alumni of Gettysburg College threaten to cut donations if Robert Spencer speaks

(Muslims do not assimilate, they infiltrate )

I’m scheduled to speak at Gettysburg College tonight, and it might not surprise you to learn that the Left-fascists are in an uproar. This letter from college alumni manifests the fundamental insecurity and intellectual fascism of these alums — not a very good testimonial for the college. Insecurity because if they really thought what I was saying was false and absurd on its face, they would encourage people to come, engage me in discussion, and prove me wrong. Instead, they try to shut me down, which is a tacit acknowledgment that they can’t refute what I say, and so want to make sure it is not heard. This letter is a disquieting indication of how far advanced the rot is at our colleges and universities today: these alumni openly call for the restriction of the freedom of speech in the context of an institution that is supposed to be dedicated to free inquiry and the acceptance or rejection of ideas on their merits after study.

More below.

“Open letter from 375 alums urges President Riggs to cancel Robert Spencer’s speech,” The Gettysburgian, May 1, 2017:

Editor’s Note: The following letter collected signatures online from Thursday evening until Sunday morning and was then sent to the administration with 375 signatures. A response from College president Janet Morgan Riggs was released on Monday and is available to view here.

Good afternoon, Dean Ramsey and President Riggs:

We hope this message finds you well. Unfortunately, today we have been brought together under less than joyous circumstances. After learning that Robert Spencer has been approved to speak on campus we, as members of the past and present Gettysburg College community, feel it is a necessity to express our concern. It was our time at Gettysburg that shaped us into the compassionate, thoughtful, principled individuals we are becoming, and it is our identity as Gettysburgians that compels us to issue this open letter.

Methinks they protest too much. Those who have to tell the world that they’re compassionate, thoughtful and principled generally aren’t, and are aware of the fact.

From a sociological perspective, we understand the complexities and power dynamics at play in the difficult decision you and your office were forced to make. However, as equity-seeking, socially and politically conscious citizens and alumni of Gettysburg College, we are outraged by your willingness to allow a platform for the ideas zealously promoted by Mr. Spencer.

The ideas promoted by Spencer and his organization, Jihad Watch, have and will continue to incite physical, mental, and emotional violence against Muslims as long as they are allowed legitimate platforms.

This is libel and defamation. It is also entirely without substance. And in a world that has seen 30,000 lethal jihad attacks committed in the name of Islam and in accord with its teachings since 9/11, it’s grotesque and obscene.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Spencer’s “writing was cited dozens of times in a manifesto written by the Norwegian terrorist Anders Breivik. Spencer was banned from the United Kingdom as an extremist in July 2013.” These are just a couple of examples of the effects of his ideology. Allowing him to visit and speak will be an act of violence against Muslim students at Gettysburg College and will further legitimate his false and hateful message.

Breivik — always Breivik. If I really incited violence in my writings, one would think that there would be more than just one lone madman to prove it. Breivik actually quoted a great many people, including Barack Obama; he also criticized me for not calling for violence. He also did not hold to my views, but counseled collaboration with Hamas and al-Qaeda. Even if he did, if every point of view were discredited by violence done in its name, Islam and Marxism would be first in line. I was banned from Britain, according to the Home Office’s letter to me, for saying that Islam has doctrines of violence, which is like banning me for saying water is wet. Meanwhile, Britain has admitted many jihadis, illustrating that its banning policy is not based on sound principles.

But these alumni don’t need any actual acts of violence committed by people provoked by what I have written. Allowing me even to visit and speak is “an act of violence against Muslim students at Gettysburg College and will further legitimize [my] false and hateful message.” False? Prove it, snowflakes. Speaking is an act of violence now? Are you so intellectually bereft, and authoritarian at your core, that you cannot bear to hear unpopular ideas, and have to shut down and defame those who enunciate them? It just indicates you can’t refute those ideas on a rational level.

Spencer is the author of many books, including “The Truth About Muhammad: Founder of the World’s Most Intolerant Religion” (2006) and “Stealth Jihad: How Radical Islam is Subverting America Without Guns or Bombs” (2008). These titles alone make it clear that his arguments are predicated on the deliberate conflation of Islam with terrorism. Mr. Spencer has made a name for himself by exploiting fears that are rooted in racism, colonialism, and Western-centrism. Inviting him to join in dialogue on campus is not presenting a difference of opinion but is instead allowing and fostering a level of hate comparable to anti-semitism.

Racism? Islam is not a race. Colonialism and Western-centrism? Tell it to the Thais and Indians threatened by the jihad, and the Acehnese women suffering under Sharia oppression.

Despite regard for and understanding of the right to free speech, bringing Robert Spencer to campus and hosting a platform for his opinions damages the atmosphere of diversity that Gettysburg College has publicly sought to foster over the past few years. There is a way to have healthy and respectful exchange of opinions and Robert Spencer is not a part of that equation. Spencer’s dialogue targets an entire minority population represented not just in this country but also on Gettysburg’s campus and by inviting him to speak, those people, those students and faculty members, have been betrayed.

“There is a way to have healthy and respectful exchange of opinions and Robert Spencer is not a part of that equation.” In other words, “a healthy and respectful exchange of opinions can only include those with whom we agree.”

In the name of free speech, Gettysburg College has chosen to facilitate an atmosphere laden with hate and fear. An opinion article for The New York Times written by Ulrich Baer, a faculty member at New York University, concisely summarizes this concern- “freedom of expression is not an unchanging absolute.” As the rising generations fight for cultural equality in this country, we are making space for the voices of the oppressed and we will not be making allowances to further their oppression.

Howling absurdity. The “voices of the [supposedly] oppressed” have an absolute monopoly in places such as Gettysburg College. I represent a small dissenting voice, an opinion that is usually never allowed a fair hearing at colleges or universities.

It is the time we spent learning and growing at Gettysburg College that necessitates this letter. As graduates of Gettysburg, we are grateful to have been instilled with strong critical analysis skills and an appreciation for intellectual diversity. As we have entered the workforce, furthered our education, traveled the globe, and continued the growth that began at our beloved alma mater, we carry the citizenship pillars of Gettysburg College with us: to be curious, own and cherish our experiences, engage difference, and make an impact.

Many of us have come forward individually to express our disapproval of Spencer’s visit and those emails have all been met with the same stock response. Though we can all understand the justifications for such a response, it is undeniably dismissive.

We are sociologists, global communicators, psychologists, educators, scientists, counselors, linguists, faith leaders, doctors, and artists. What unites us all is our history with Gettysburg College and the pressing need to express our objection to Robert Spencer’s invitation to speak on campus. We demand that Gettysburg stands up for those who do not have powerful voices and against Mr. Spencer and all that he stands for by cancelling the event. Until our concerns generate results, many of us have committed to withdrawing any financial support for the college.

If the College had any intellectual integrity, it would refuse any donations from you Left-fascists enemies of free discourse.

Left-fascist Gettysburg College President Janet Riggs calls for boycott of Robert Spencer

lecture(Muslims do not assimilate, they infiltrate )

At Todd Green’s lecture Sunday, Gettysburg College President Janet Morgan Riggs said: “My fantasy is that we will have four or five people sitting in a room with Robert Spencer, and the other 2,500 members with Jerome at his rally. I think that’s what we can do to counter the fear that a speaker like this can bring to this community.”

Riggs should be ashamed. If the Muslims at the university really think I am not telling the truth, they should come and engage me in discussion during the Q and A, and prove me wrong. They can’t, so they’re boycotting, and instead of exhorting students to engage unwelcome and unpopular ideas and deal with them on a rational basis, the president of the university is encouraging them.

In this letter responding to alumni threats over my appearance, Riggs uncritically accepts and retails the defamatory and libelous falsehoods that I am “bigoted” and “hateful,” and somehow endanger Muslim students.

I hereby challenge President Riggs: prove your statements with quotations from my own writings, not from smear pieces from the Southern Poverty Law Center or other far-Left groups that have no intention of treating their targets fairly. Substantiate your characterizations of my work from my work, or retract and apologize. Also, I invite you to come to the lecture tonight, if you don’t end up canceling it, and if I am not shouted down by the Left-fascist thugs you are enabling and encouraging, then I challenge you to find any “hatred” or “bigotry” in anything I say.

I do hope you will take up my challenge, but obviously you will not do so. For being a president of a college who actively discourages the consideration of views that dissent from the establishment line, and actively discouraging critical thinking and free inquiry, you should be made to resign in disgrace. Instead, you will no doubt be hailed as a heroine by your Left-fascist peers and colleagues.

“President Janet Morgan Riggs responds to open letter from alums on Robert Spencer,” by Janet Morgan Riggs, Gettysburg College President The Gettysburgian, May 1, 2017:

Editor’s Note: The following letter is a response from College president Janet Morgan Riggs to the open letter sent by 375 alums urging President Riggs to not allow Robert Spencer to speak on Wednesday.

I want to begin by thanking those who signed the petition requesting that we rescind our invitation to Robert Spencer for caring enough about Gettysburg College to speak out. To say this is a complex situation would be an understatement.

Many Gettysburgians have expressed perspectives about whether or not Robert Spencer should be permitted to speak on our campus. Some think we should have denied YAF’s request to invite him and that we should have over‐ruled Student Senate’s thoughtful deliberations which led them to make the decision to approve this event. I have also heard from many who believe that allowing Robert Spencer to speak is the right thing to do, despite the fact that they find his views to be offensive and/or abhorrent.

I don’t know if our alumni who signed the petition have seen the letter I sent to campus about this, but you can find it here:

www.gettysburg.edu/about/offices/president/inclusion/pdfs/2017/MessagefromthePresident_email+4‐25‐17.pdf

This letter was intended to provide some information to members of the campus community about the decision‐making process, the challenge of balancing our values, and the additional speaker that was invited.

We are concerned for the Muslim members of our community and have met with Muslim students to talk about what we might do to support them. We have also reached out to Muslim members of our faculty and staff, and some faculty members have reached out to our Muslim students to offer their personal support. Discussions are being held in classes, and students are planning a solidarity rally to be held at the same time that Spencer will be speaking—not as a protest of the speech, but as a way of showing their support for the Muslim community.

I appreciate the passion that our alumni have expressed on both sides of this controversy. It’s quite clear that our alumni are not united in their viewpoints. In one of the letters I received supporting the decision to allow Robert Spencer to speak, one of our graduates quoted American Civil Liberties Union National Legal Director David Cole: “For the future of our democracy, we must protect bigoted speech from government censorship. On college campuses, that means that the best way to combat hateful speech is through counter‐speech, vigorous and creative protest, and debate, not threats of violence or censorship.”

This is an extraordinarily complicated and challenging situation, one that is being played out on college campuses across the nation. I can assure you that we are giving this a tremendous amount of thought and attention, and I am pleased that our alumni care enough about Gettysburg College to voice their perspectives.

Sincerely,
Janet Morgan Riggs

Attempt to set Pro-Israeli activist ABLAZE in Germany

Germany’s dangerous stand against US, Israel must be stopped

Police search for Berlin attacker who attempted to set ablaze a pro-Israel activist

Jerusalem Post, May 2, 2017:

Berlin police forces are currently searching after a man who attempted to set an Israel flag ablaze on Monday during a Memorial Day event commemorating Israel’s fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism. The woman who was holding the flag and very nearly escaped the attack is a German-Israeli pro-Israel activist.

The latter, who wishes not reveal her identity because she wants to continue freely with her pro-Israel activism, contacted the Jerusalem Post on Tuesday and said that she filed a criminal complaint. She asserted that the assailant sought to cause her “dangerous bodily harm.”

The alleged assault took place at a German-Israeli friendship youth event on Paris Square in the heart of Berlin. According to the official complaint, the woman carried an Israeli flag on her shoulder and the perpetrator attempted to use a lighter to set the flag on fire. A 22-year-old witness stopped the attack and the assailant fled.

The alleged attack comes on the heels of last week’s independent German report commissioned by the Federal government that shows that 40% of Germans hold modern antisemitic views (the loathing of the Jewish state).

There has been a series of attacks on Israelis over the years in Berlin, including the murder of Dalia Elyakim, who was killed by an Islamic State terrorist attack at a Christmas market in December.

In 2015, German Muslims attacked Shahak Shapira, an Israeli living in Berlin, because he told the men to stop chanting anti-Jewish songs.

Six Palestinians attacked Israelis in Berlin in 2014.

Across Germany in 2014 during Israel’s Protective Edge Operation which aimed to stop Hamas rocket fire, a wave of anti-Israel antisemitism unfolded.
In the cities of Dortmund and Frankfurt chants proclaiming “Hamas Hamas Juden ins gas!” (“Hamas Hamas Jews to the gas!”) were heard and in Essen demonstrators chanted “Scheiss Juden!” (“Jewish sh…t”).

Anti-Israeli activists, most of whom are German Muslims and hard-leftists , have sought to destroy Israeli flags at demonstrations over the years.

Police forces in German cities have ignored or enabled protestors to act for the removal and/or the outlawing of Israeli flags. In 2015, German security guards remove an Israeli flag at a Berlin soccer match to preempt Palestinian anger. In 2009, during an anti-Israeli demonstration organized by the Turkish Islamic group, Millî Görüş, and attended by 10,000 protesters, two police officers stormed the apartment of a pro-Israel activist and seized Israeli flags hanging on the balcony and inside a window. The Duisburg police chief justified the removal of the flags as an act intended to “prevent an escalation.” Prior to the storming of the apartment, Islamists pelted the flags with objects.

Pro-Israeli activists, including one with a flag, were taken into police custody in the city of Düsseldorf during Operation Cast Lead against Hamas. The raw anger of members of the “Mainz initiative for peace in Gaza” compelled five young men holding an Israeli flag to flee into a department store in the city of Mainz.

VIDEO: May Day (Leftwing) Protesters in Philadelphia Chant: KILL TRUMP, PENCE

By Pamela Geller - on May 2, 2017

How the Left Destroys the Nation 28 Facebook Twitter Google+ Imagine if we chanted “Kill Obama!” Leftwingers would have opened fire on us. How are these traitors not arrested en masse for treason? May Day Protesters in Philadelphia Chant: Kill Trump, Pence By Hannah Mayer, Truth Revolt, May 2, 2017 (thanks to Todd): We all know that May Day — a.k.a. “International Workers’ Day” — is just another excuse for progressive to behave abhorrently and this past May 1 was no exception. Hundreds of thousands across the U.S. took to the streets in protest of President Donald Trump and his administration for perceived transgressions against any number of the Left’s agendas. Arrests were made at various protests, including at least 25 in Portland. In the name of “immigrants’ rights” masked warriors burned, rioted, threw smoke bombs and rocks, and hurled expletives. Never shying away from revealing their true, twisted nature, protesters in Philadelphia even chanted calls to “kill” President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. As always, the Left claims it holds a monopoly on tolerance when in fact its members are anything but tolerant.

The White House budget spin

NOTEWhen writing about God and Jesus, The Daily Jot means YHVH as God and Yeshua Ha Mashiach as Jesus--the actual original names and the true nature and character of them.

Wednesday, May 3, 2017
Congress is passing yet another Continuing Resolution to kick the budget can down the road to September. It's a stop-gap measure that gives the socialists an early Christmas. It continues to fund Planned Parenthood, expands spending to a trillion dollars and gives the Democrats a very strategic position in getting all their tax and spend programs over the next several years. It's a risky political strategy on the part of Republicans and it is a win-win strategy by the socialist Democratic Party. In the worse kind of way, it is bad optics for a President who made promises to drain the swamp and put Americans first--That's the take from the media, but the White House has a different spin.

Vice President Mike Pence is making the rounds to explain why the Trump Administration is supporting the Continuing Resolution until September. A big part of it is defense spending-a $21 billion increase to fund improvements to an aging military that was left to decay under the previous administration. Pence told Rush Limbaugh, " I mean, in a very real sense this was a game-changer because we're just back to putting the safety, security, and the national defense of the American people first, and...I think this sends a decisive message to the world that under President Trump's leadership we're gonna make the strongest military in history even stronger."

Pence said the number one priority for this Continuing Resolution was to strengthen America's defense capabilities. He said, "to get Democrats in Washington, D.C., to agree to a $21 billion increase in a short-term budget bill - and, you know, the president's calling for the largest increase in military spending since the Reagan administration in the upcoming budget, I think is no small - it's no small accomplishment." Pence further said that the bill includes the biggest increase in border security in ten years and reminded Limbaugh that illegal immigration was down 60% since Donald Trump took office. Pence also said that the President signed a bill into law that allows states to block Planned Parenthood funding and that the socialist healthcare replacement bill defunds Planned Parenthood.

Pence also set expectations on repealing socialist healthcare. He said that it will take two phases: first, repealing the taxes and penalties of socialist healthcare, and second, to allow people to buy healthcare across state lines. Pence said the two steps will "sweep the final vestiges of it away." Pence reveals a strategy to achieve success while making the other side think they are winning. It's the art of the deal. We must discern whether these explanations are spin or truth. Certainly, Trump knows how to deal. But he is dealing with extraordinarily cunning swamp dwellers. Let us pray that the President be an Ephesians 4:!4 person: That is not "tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lay in wait to deceive." Pray that he has the wisdom of Solomon.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Kansas City Catholics Banish Girl Scouts and Their Cookies

There’s a new commandment for Catholics: Thou Shall Not Eat Tagalongs.

The Archdiocese of Kansas City recently announced they are severing ties with the Girl Scouts. And that means no more Girl Scout cookies, too. Say goodbye to Thin Mints and Do-Si-Do’s.

The Archdiocese says Girl Scouts is no longer a compatible partner when it comes to issues like virtue and values.

The Washington Post reports that Catholics fear the Girl Scouts’ programs and materials are “reflective of many of the troubling trends in our secular culture,” and that the organization is “no longer a compatible partner in helping us form young women with the virtues and values of the Gospel.”

The Archdiocese said some of the material used in the past has been offensive, disturbing and age-inappropriate. (Read more from “Kansas City Catholics Banish Girl Scouts and Their Cookies” HERE) http://joemiller.us/2017/05/kansas-city-catholics-banish-girl-scouts-cookies/

Trump Expected to Unveil Massive New Protections for Religious Freedom Thursday

A leaked copy of a draft executive order titled “Establishing a Government-Wide Initiative to Respect Religious Freedom,” obtained by The Investigative Fund and The Nation, reveals sweeping plans by the Trump administration . . .

The four-page draft order, a copy of which is currently circulating among federal staff and advocacy organizations, construes religious organizations so broadly that it covers “any organization, including closely held for-profit corporations,” and protects “religious freedom” in every walk of life: “when providing social services, education, or healthcare; earning a living, seeking a job, or employing others; receiving government grants or contracts; or otherwise participating in the marketplace, the public square, or interfacing with Federal, State or local governments.”

The draft order seeks to create wholesale exemptions for people and organizations who claim religious or moral objections to same-sex marriage, premarital sex, abortion, and trans identity, and it seeks to curtail women’s access to contraception and abortion through the Affordable Care Act. The White House did not respond to requests for comment, but when asked Monday about whether a religious freedom executive order was in the works, White House spokesman Sean Spicer told reporters, “I’m not getting ahead of the executive orders that we may or may not issue. There is a lot of executive orders, a lot of things that the president has talked about and will continue to fulfill, but we have nothing on that front now.”

Language in the draft document specifically protects the tax-exempt status of any organization that “believes, speaks, or acts (or declines to act) in accordance with the belief that marriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman, sexual relations are properly reserved for such a marriage, male and female and their equivalents refer to an individual’s immutable biological sex as objectively determined by anatomy, physiology, or genetics at or before birth, and that human life begins at conception and merits protection at all stages of life.”

[Legal experts described the] breadth of the draft order . . . as “sweeping” and “staggering” . . . A  very great evil and immorality has come upon the American People and is doing everything it can do to take over the American People!!! Don't you think it is about time to do something about it?

Principles for a Free Society

A Huffington Post Humanist Urges the Church to Stop Using the Bible as a Moral Guide

It’s one thing when a humanist attacks the Bible. That’s expected. It’s another thing when a humanist attacks a Christian denomination for using the Bible as a moral guide. But that’s exactly what humanist author Clay Farris Naff did in the Huffington Post on April 29.

Naff was upset that the highest court of the Methodist Church struck down the consecration of Bishop Karen Oliveto. Her only infraction was being married to another woman. How, he wondered, could the church punish her for love?

He writes, “To anyone free of ancient prejudices, the injustice of condemning Oliveto is plain. How can love be wrong? How can love enfolded in commitment and fidelity be wrong?”

The answers are simple and self-evident. Love is not always right, even when it’s “enfolded in commitment and fidelity.”

Marriage Has Meaning

A father may love his adult daughter in a romantic way, but that doesn’t make the relationship right. Twin brothers in their 30s may love each other in a sexual way, but that doesn’t make their sexual activity right. A man who no longer loves his wife may now love his female co-worker, but that doesn’t make his adultery right.

It’s possible, of course, that Naff has no problem with consensual adult incest or with adultery. And maybe he has no issue with polygamy or polyamory. But as a thinking man (which he clearly is), he should be able to understand that conservatives have reasons other than “ancient prejudices” for opposing gay marriage. After all, there were ancient cultures that celebrated homosexuality. Yet they still recognized marriage as male-female only.

That’s because marriage has had a specific function and purpose through the millennia. It’s not just “ancient prejudices” that cause many of us to reject its redefinition. Or is it only prejudice that believes God designed men for women and women for men? Or is it only bigotry that believes it’s best for a child to have a mom and dad?

Naff asks, “What possible harm can her marriage cause? Not even the claim of setting a ‘bad’ example holds water. People do not choose their spouses on the example set by clergy. If they did, there’d be no Catholic children, and poor, sultry Elizabeth Taylor could never have married even once.”

Actually, many people do follow the examples set by their leaders (including clergy). As for Naff’s argument regarding Catholicism, wouldn’t he argue that the sins of some pedophile priests have been especially heinous, because they are looked to as religious leaders?

Of course, I’m not comparing Oliveto’s “marriage” to her partner to a priest abusing boys. I’m simply saying that clergy have a special responsibility to set good examples. Their bad examples have a wider, ripple effect.

“Sacred Scripture” — Or Not?

Naff then focuses on the Bible itself. He uses the same hackneyed, pro-gay arguments that have been refuted time and again. (For example, he claims that Paul’s categorical prohibition against homosexual practice in Romans 1 is merely “a tirade about some unnamed people who turned their backs on God and indulged in, er, Roman-style orgies”).

He also seems oblivious to the idea that when Methodist leaders speak about “Christian teaching” on homosexuality, they don’t refer exclusively to the Bible. They’re speaking in general about the unanimous teaching of virtually all branches of Christianity for nearly 2,000 years. And they’re speaking in particular about the clear teachings of the Methodist Church throughout its history.

But this is not important for Naff. He he feels there’s a much deeper problem with the Methodist Church: hypocrisy. Why, he wonders, does the Church not ban divorce like it bans homosexual practice?

Because according to Scripture, there are some legitimate causes for divorce. These are recognized by the Methodist Church. It is remarriage that’s in question. But that’s a question he fails to ask. (He could have made a better argument had he addressed that question.)

Either way, Naff isn’t calling for a church ban on divorce. Instead, he explains:

I am trying to help you see that the Bible may be many things — historical treasure, poetical comfort, and sacred scripture — but as a moral guide, it is hopeless. Some claim to follow its commands literally, but they deceive themselves. No one can do so, for the Bible is a hodgepodge of contradictions and morally obscure or outrageous injunctions.

So, it’s fine if we take the Bible to be “sacred scripture.” But we must realize it’s “a hodgepodge of contradictions and morally obscure or outrageous injunctions.” Not to mention “hopeless” as “a moral guide.”

Thanks but no thanks.

That kind of “sacred scripture” is neither sacred nor scripture. Why anyone would take comfort in its words and find guidance for life if the Bible is what Naff describes it to be?

Bad Logic

After launching a few more (weak) salvos against the Scriptures, Naff writes:

Look at the Bible with fresh eyes, and you’ll find the record of ancient peoples who, lacking any police force, detectives, or proper jails, did their best to construct rules for getting along with each other and used the fear of God to enforce them. Look even closer and you’ll find that those in power often bent the rules in their favor. I suppose God might have wanted the people to heap silver, gold, and fatted calves on their priests, exempt them from any real work, and give them a retirement plan (Numbers 7 – 8), but I find it more likely that the priests themselves heard the Word of God that way.

Put another way, this is not the Word of God, so don’t treat it as the Word of God. Instead, Naff states:

I’ve shown that the United Methodist Church is interpreting the Bible to privilege the heterosexual majority while sanctimoniously applying ancient “laws” in a questionable way to Bishop Oliveto. But more important, I hope I’ve shown that Methodists, and all other religionists, would do well abandon the effort to apply scriptural codes to contemporary life. Draw inspiration, by all means, but recognize that the hard work of thinking through right and wrong remains a moral duty for us all.

In truth, Naff did not prove his points at all, let alone demonstrate them in such fashion that Methodist leaders should feel beholden to follow his counsel.

But it is not merely Naff’s attack on the Bible that falls short. It’s his logic that falls short as well. If he is right in his description of the Bible, there’s no reason for the Methodist Church (or any church) to exist. There’s not even a reason for a single synagogue to be found on the planet if what we call sacred Scripture is merely a compendium of human ideas, many of them flawed, and none of them perfectly inspired.

In short, if Jesus is not the Son of God who died for our sins and rose from the dead, Christians are believing lies. End of subject. And if the Torah was not given by God through Moses, Jews are believing lies. That’s all that needs to be said.

If the Bible is not a moral guide, it cannot be a spiritual guide, since it purports to tell us who God is and what He requires from us, His creation.

Human Reasoning vs. God’s Word

I do understand Naff’s concerns about religious fundamentalism, which he has articulated elsewhere. But he fails to understand that

1. The Bible’s moral witness is quite coherent when studied holistically and in-depth

2. Scholars have answers for the questions he has raised, along with many more

3. There are solid reasons, both practical and moral, to stand against homosexual “marriage.”

What is lacking is not the inspiration of Scripture or the wisdom of Scripture or the moral authority of Scripture. What is lacking is the understanding of human beings (including Naff). That’s exactly why we need God’s Word.

Human reasoning alone will always fail us. God’s Word will never fail. The spiritual dimension of progressives' rage

Exclusive: Linda Harvey sees anti-Truth pagan practice in silencing of Christians

author-image Linda Harvey
Linda Harvey is president of Mission America and hosts a talk show on Salem affiliate WRFD in Columbus, Ohio.

Congratulations to WND for 20 years of leadership in conservative media! America and the global political conversation are blessed by your creativity, perseverance and dedication to reporting the facts. I am so honored and humbled to be a part of your commentary team.

And it’s more than appropriate that this column is dedicated to WND’s anniversary. You have never shied away from hard-hitting news and opinion, even when attacked from all sides.

There’s no question Christians and conservatives are being denied a voice in much of America’s public square these days. But what’s really behind the left’s tyranny on the campuses of Berkeley, Middlebury, Claremont McKenna, University of Wisconsin and others?

There’s a pagan precept involved, even if these rioters don’t know it.

Ann Coulter, Milo Yiannopoulos and David Horowitz are not welcome at Berkeley. Their views apparently cannot be allowed expression. Nor can the realities of abortion be revealed to students at a Pennsylvania high school.

Have you seen the video of the unhinged, vulgar rampage of a self-described homosexual educator against peaceful, pro-life teen demonstrators?

The Downingtown, Pennsylvania, assistant principal loudly sang, “I love a parade!” to drown out the voices of two teens trying to witness about the tragedy of abortion.

Then there’s that teacher in Tampa who cringes at the sight of crosses in her classroom. She, too, is a homosexual, “partnered” with another lesbian teacher.

Or how about protesters at town hall meetings in Louisiana and Michigan who screamed, “Separation of church and state!” over opening prayers?

These street-thug tactics are now commonplace. I’ve experienced similar irrational ploys during peaceful protests and press conferences as rabid homosexuals tried to deny our group a voice. Chanting, bullhorns and blocking presenters are common maneuvers.

These radicals fear believers, they fear responsible conservatives, and they fear the name of Christ. The widespread prohibition of Christian and conservative views at universities is starting to resemble the ancient pagan practice of “taboo.”

There’s another explanation, though, one that exposes an even deeper level of spiritual darkness.

In pagan rituals, to speak an idea is to give it life. Words and incantations carry (so it is believed) immense power. A ritual must be performed with chants and invocations in an exact sequence, or the spell loses its effectiveness.

So, the opposite is also true in the occultist worldview. The words of one’s opponents – full of “negativity” – must not be permitted.

One of witchcraft’s matriarchs explained it this way: “We believe that to give evil a name is to give it power,” said Silver Ravenwolf in her book “Teen Witch.” So not only must opponents be denied a platform, they must not even be named.

The new progressive rage reflects the rise of everyday evil in America. Resistance against the Lord and His brethren has never been so pervasive in our nation. It accelerated during eight years of a president whose policies intentionally defied biblical standards, and Obama’s followers are not easily relinquishing their “change agenda.”

Therefore, they often behave as people whose hearts and souls have been given over to a dark lord, even when they don’t consciously understand this. The hysteria we are seeing has its roots in demonic, spiritual evil.

Biblical principles affirming goodness and righteousness show that power resides in truth. So those who hate Christ must suppress His teachings, or heavily disguise, rephrase or repackage them.

Certainly, Christians understand that demons shudder at the name of Christ and that true conversion includes verbalizing faith: “… if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9).”

Definitions and names become critical in Scripture. Jesus has the “name above all names (Philippians 2:9).” Satan understands this, for he also knows the Bible.

Throughout Scripture, the “name of the Lord” is to be revered. Peter said that “…everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Acts 2:21).”

We are to pray “in the name of Jesus.” The command is phrased this way perhaps to plant a truth-filled idea in one’s spirit and in the world: that Jesus has an identity, He is the way, the truth and the life, and belief in Him is the essence of salvation. The true Jesus revealed in the holy texts is the Savior of humanity, and as such, just speaking His name is immensely powerful.

Adherents to false faiths and atheists hate the name of Christ, they cringe at truth, and do whatever possible to slither around the reality of His omnipotence.

So they irrationally go to exceptional lengths to limit, punish, defame, silence or even harm Christ’s followers. Those who aren’t confessed Christians but challenge the dark lies of progressive ideology are also worthy targets of Satan’s minions.

When truth is malleable and expendable, fascism becomes an easily assimilated, everyday practice of “tolerant” liberals. It’s perfectly acceptable in pagan/wiccan circles to simply make stuff up out of thin air. How often do we see this as a current progressive tactic? There are not enough pages to publish all the recent examples.

It’s also the history of liberal theology within Christianity, including the push starting several decades ago for so-called “inclusive language,” which essentially revised ancient, divinely inspired Scripture. In 1993, many Christians were stunned to learn about a landmark conference in Minneapolis called “Re-Imagining God.” And if weird, “invent-your-own” spirituality was not out of the closet before that, this was the public unveiling of deep, deep apostasy led by feminists inside certain Christian churches and organizations.

We need to remember the profound words of the first chapter of John: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. … And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”

Christ is the Word made flesh, “full of grace and truth.” No matter what attacks are launched at the truth, it will never change.

And neither will He.

Salon’s Fake News: Trump Supposedly Said the Constitution Is ‘Really a Bad Thing for the Country’

The left-wing media site Salon posted an article with the headline blaring: “Donald Trump doesn’t like the ‘archaic’ Constitution: ‘It’s really a bad thing for the country.’” Other liberal sites said the same thing. It was the classic gotcha article: The man who says he’s a conservative wants to trash the Constitution! Haha, say the liberals.

The only problem: he didn’t say that.

What Trump Didn’t Say, and What He Did

Salon did the easiest thing possible — took phrases out of Trump’s Fox News interview. In fact, the interview posted with the article contradicts it.

One hint that the liberal press misquoted the president? The word “constitution” doesn’t even appear in the interview. Not even once.

So what was Trump talking about? Fox News’s Martha MacCallum asks him about his political philosophy. Trump responds that he’s “not really an ideologue.” He’s “a person of common sense.” He gets things done, he says. “I understand what has to be done, I get things done I’ve always been a closer. We don’t have a lot of closers in politics and I understand why.”

Then comes the quote that the mainstream media jumped on. “It’s a very rough system, it’s an archaic system,” he says. The Constitution? No. He continues:

You look at the rules of the Senate, even the rules of the House. The rules of the Senate, some of the things you have to go through. It’s really a bad thing for the country. In my opinion, they are archaic rules. Maybe, at some point, we’re going to have to take those rules on. For the good of the nation, things are going to have to be different. You can’t go through a process like this. It’s not fair, it forces you to make bad decisions.

What’s He Upset About?

Does Trump reject the Constitution in the interview? No, he never even mentions it. What’s he upset about? The rules of Congress, especially the Senate. He thinks those rules are “archaic.”

Trump may be flustered working with Congress, but he hasn’t deserted our system of checks and balances to become a dictator.

The fake news piece had 17,500 Facebook shares at the time this article went to publication. There has been no retraction or correction. Will Google push it down in search results? Will Facebook flag it as fake news? Probably not. AWESOME! Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke is up for a position in Homeland Security and guess who is opposing it

That’s right. Designated terrorist terrorist group CAIR is protesting the appointment because Clarke supported then GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz’s call for law enforcement to “patrol, secure, and spy on Muslim neighborhoods.”

CAIR expressed concern that such a policy would lead to religious and ethnic profiling by officers and called the policy “unworkable, unconstitutional and counterproductive.” (No, NOT profiling Muslims is what led to the several Muslim terrorist attacks we’ve had here in the past few years)

Clarke would be terrific in Homeland Security.

NEVER HIRE A MUSLIM Reason #171: You will get sued if other employees call a Muslim worker names

( Muslims do not assimilate, they infiltrate! )

A Muslim flight attendant from New Jersey has filed suit against American Airlines alleging his co-workers repeatedly called him a terrorist and FBI agents came to his house after he complained about the harassment to company officials. (Where there’s smoke there’s fire)

NJ.com  Farkhan Mahmood Shah, an Edison resident of Pakistani descent, claims he was targeted for religious and ethnic harassment after the attacks of Sept. 11. American Airlines failed to stop the harassment after he reported it, Shah claims in the suit filed recently in Superior Court in Middlesex County.

Shah, who started working at the airline in 1999 as a flight attendant, alleges in the suit he was called a terrorist, part of Hezbollah or Taliban, and other offense names. On one flight, he claims another flight attendant tried to convert him from Islam to Christianity.

Shah said he reported the alleged harassment in 2008 he began to notice erroneous marks on his record for lateness and missing work. The complaint escalated to the airline’s New York human resources office in 2013 following numerous complaints where he also brought up the record errors, the suit said.

He said he was told his record would be fixed, but it was never corrected. The next year, the harassment “escalated quickly,” the suit says. In 2014, Shah and his coworkers were having a conversation about 9/11 and one of the workers said, “it was the Muslims and that Muslims are evil,” according to the suit. (They ARE!)

Shah responded that some had said the terrorist attack was an inside job, and ISIS was created by the CIA. Weeks later, Shah claims in his suit that he was placed on a “watch list” by American Airlines, and FBI agents showed up at his Edison home.

In 2016, he filed a complaint with U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, according to the suit. Less than two weeks later, Shah claims FBI agents showed up at his house again, asking him if he planned on hurting anyone.

SCOTLAND orders military cadets NOT to wear their uniforms in public so they won’t become targets of Muslim terrorists

( Muslims do not assimilate, they infiltrate! )

What’s next? Telling police not to wear their uniforms in the streets?

UK Express (h/t VC)  Parents of youngsters in the army, air and sea cadet forces have been issued with letters outlining steps to avoid being targeted by Muslim terrorists. The letter warns of a serious risk of the cadets – mainly in their teens – being mistaken for regular airmen, sailors or soldiers.

One letter to the parent of a Scottish cadet, reads: “Based on the latest security advice, we recommend all cadets cover up their uniform when travelling to and from cadet activity. Personnel should remain vigilant.” The parent – who did not wish to be named – said it made his “blood run cold”, adding: “It’s clearly in response to something.”

It is understood from police sources that the letter was prompted by a UK-wide tightening of security procedures following the March 22 attack on Westminster which has seen firearms officers constantly “on-call” for the Scottish Parliament building in Edinburgh.

The police source added: “At face value this letter to the parents of cadets has been sent to alert them to a raised potential for an incident. If I were a parent, of course I’d be worried. But I’d also follow the advice in the letter.”

The Ministry of Defence advised British service members not to wear military uniforms in public following the murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby, 25, in May 2013. In December 2014, police in Birmingham were told not to wear their uniforms while travelling to and from work after extremists threatened to kidnap and murder an officer. And, last July, a member of the RAF Regiment was approached by two Muslim men and threatened with a knife while out jogging near RAF Marham.

Hey, here’s an idea, why not just dress ALL the military cadets in Islamic headbags (hijabs)?

Canada: Parents protest Islamic prayer in public school (video)

( Muslims do not assimilate, they infiltrate! )

Source: Parents protest Islamic prayer in public school – The Rebel

The Peel District School Board (PDSB) says the debate over Muslim prayers in publicly funded schools is over. But parents from many different faiths are speaking out against public officials giving preferential treatment to one religion.

The PDSB has a charter that says they are committed to “gender equity”, yet these mini-mosques are gender segregated with boys at the front and girls at the back. Girls on their menstrual cycle are forced to sit in hall!

I tried to ask school board officials about their decision, but the cowards were all too scared to defend it.

Watch me speak with the patriots who came out to defend secular education, many of whom were freedom loving immigrants that are proud to stand up for Canadian values.

I also found some counter-protesters who supported the PDSB’s decision, but all they had to offer were baseless claims of “Islamophobia”.

Left-fascists at University of Buffalo Robert Spencer lecture refuse to allow discussion of jihad threat

( Muslims do not assimilate, they infiltrate! )

Last night I appeared at the University of Buffalo at the invitation of the courageous students of Young Americans for Freedom, who have to put up with this Left-fascist thuggery on a daily basis, while I left Buffalo this morning. I say I “appeared,” because to say “I spoke” would be exaggerating a bit. Rather, I started a few sentences, made a couple of points, in between being screamed at by Leftist and Islamic supremacist fascists who think they’re opposing fascism.

The Spectrum article below is not that bad a report from the campus newspaper, showing the Left-fascist opposition to the freedom of speech, with a few exceptions: I am not a “self-proclaimed expert on radical Islam,” as I have never proclaimed myself an expert on anything, and my work stands or falls on the basis of the evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah, history and current events. Nor do I ever speak about “radical Islam,” which is a Western construct that does not exist in the Islamic world. And I didn’t call the fascists “uninformed fascists”; although they are indeed uninformed and think they know a great deal more than they actually do, I didn’t use that word. Finally, the reporters Ashley Inkumsah and Sarah Crowley wrote that I was “unphased” by the screaming fascists, when I was actually “unfazed.”

That said, I am grateful to Ashley Inkumsah and Sarah Crowley for a generally accurate report. Note the claims of victimhood trotted out yet again by the Muslims quoted in the article. They have hoodwinked the University of Buffalo Left-fascists into thinking that it’s “Islamophobes,” rather than jihad terrorists, who are killing people around the world. And that is one thing I said last night, although it is doubtful that the fascists heard it: the guy holding the sign “Queers Against Islamophobia” and any feminists in the audience have no idea what they’re enabling. By shutting down any discussion of the motivating ideology of the jihad threat and consigning it all to the realm of “hatred” and “bigotry,” they are only enabling that threat to grow, and one day, they may very well experience the consequences of their actions firsthand.

Meanwhile, UPD Chief of Police Gerald Schoenle “wished more university staff were present at the event to contain the disruptive crowd of students who were unable to get in.” This is disingenuous in the extreme. There were hordes of disruptive students who got in with no problem. What’s more, Schoenle overruled a plan that his subordinates had agreed to with my security team, that hecklers and screamers would be asked to be quiet and then escorted out. Schoenle actively aided and abetted the Left-fascist destruction of the event. Write him, courteously and politely, and remind him of the importance of the freedom of speech as the foundation of any free society, and the dangers of aiding and abetting Left-fascist thuggery for the future of any free society, at gws3@buffalo.edu. Also Tom Tiberi from Campus Life should was supposedly there to assist in making the event successful, but just stood by and did nothing while the Left-fascists screamed their abuse. He’s at tiberi@buffalo.edu. Remember: all messages to Schoenle and Tiberi should be polite, respectful, and courteous, sticking to the facts and calling them out for their malfeasance and allowance of Left-fascist thuggery.

Below the student paper article is the article from the Buffalo News, which is worthwhile only for capturing one thing I said: “The attempt to silence someone who has a differing viewpoint was a ‘quintessentially fascist act, and you are manifesting it in a wonderful way tonight,’ said Spencer.” There is also this: “Spencer frequently discusses terrorism by Muslims as being religiously motivated, an argument that has put him in the cross-hairs of American Muslims who say his interpretation of Islam is dangerously inaccurate and perverts their faith.”

Those American Muslims have a big problem on their hands, because in reality, I have no interpretation of Islam at all, but only report on how Muslims interpret it, which all too often involves justifications of and exhortations to violence. They are avid to silence me because they don’t want Americans to know how jihadis use the texts and teachings of Islam to justify hatred, violence, and supremacism.

And so the University of Buffalo Left-fascists abundantly signaled their virtue by screaming at me for an hour and a half. What have they accomplished by doing so? Will the jihad threat thereby go away? Alas, no.

“A campus divided: Robert Spencer’s visit met with chaos and opposition from UB community,” by Ashley Inkumsah and Sarah Crowley, The Spectrum (University of Buffalo), May 2, 2017:

Students and faculty piled into Knox 109 to both hear Robert Spencer’s speech and protest his appearance.

Robert Spencer couldn’t speak for more than 30 seconds without students shouting and cursing at him on Monday night.

Spencer planned to speak to students about “the dangers of jihad in today’s world” but constant heckling from the crowd made it near impossible for him to complete a full sentence. Spencer, a self-proclaimed expert on radical Islam, runs a website called Jihad Watch.

Students called Spencer things like a “Nazi, “Trump Jr.” and a “pseudo-intellectual,” and most of his hour-long speech was inaudible. Spencer seemed unphased [sic] as students shouted over him and he responded, calling the crowd “uninformed fascists.”

Students who were anti-Spencer and pro-Spencer attended the event. In the end, many students left feeling little had been accomplished for either side.

“I think what ends up happening in debates like this where there’s different people who feel very strongly about different things, instead of seeing the other side’s perspective is they strengthen their own perspective,” said Fiza Ali, senior finance major.

Hundreds of students and faculty were unable to get into Knox 109, which only fits 200 people. University Police said the room reached its full capacity and letting more people in would be a fire hazard.

Students banged on the door chanting “let us in” as UPD struggled to contain the rowdy students. The officers were flustered and visibly unprepared for the unruly crowd. Two officers searched their phones to find laws to cite to students about why they couldn’t get in.

But many people weren’t surprised with this outcome.

When Spencer’s visit was announced it immediately caused a firestorm across the university and posed questions about the implications of free speech.

Although Student Association did not pay for Spencer to speak, thousands of students and faculty petitioned for SA to remove its logo from flyers about Spencer’s visit and many demanded his visit be canceled all together. Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) invited Spencer for the club’s first official event.

Despite the outcries of discontent from the UB community, Spencer still spoke. He entered Knox 109 to a swarm of boos and middle fingers from the crowd.

Spencer held a thumbs up with a grin on his face and took his phone out to record people booing him.

“I was invited to speak whether you like that or not,” Spencer said.

When Spencer agreed to debate anyone, he was met with a roaring applause.

Students asked him a wide range of questions, such as, what the central tenets of Islam were, what measures the military should take to defend against terrorism and if white men contributed to U.S. terrorism.

Midway through every answer, someone interrupted.

YAF Chairwoman Lynn Sementilli repeatedly asked students to quiet down as they interrupted Spencer while he tried to answer questions.

Before Spencer’s speech, Muslim Student Association held a peaceful sit-in as students gathered on the ground floor of Knox Hall. Roughly 80 students and faculty members showed solidarity for Muslims while some prayed.

“This is our narrative, our voice being stripped from us, and we demand to take it back,” said MSA President Samiha Islam. “Spencer and his followers have never been impacted by Islamophobia, we have. More Muslims have been harmed and killed by ISIS than any other group in the world. We vociferously denounce terrorism at every junction, hundreds of times publicly and privately and declare this is not what Islam represents.”

Kadija Mohammed, a sophomore undecided major, said she was disappointed that the university allowed Spencer to speak.

“I was shocked that there weren’t any moves by the school to stop him from coming, considering he’s banned from the U.K., like you have to be pretty bad to be banned from the U.K., if the queen doesn’t want to see your face, that’s a bad day,” Mohammed said.

Spencer spent a large portion of his speech reading from the Quran.

He read a part of Quran about gays and lesbians that referred to them as “adulterers,” and the crowd erupted in boos and cursed at him.

Sementilli said she expected the crowd to ask “tough questions,” but didn’t expect the crowd to impede on the dialogue.

“They are responsible for their own actions obviously we can’t control what anybody does,” she said. “It would have been nice if they would’ve been more respectful to the speaker and participated in a more productive dialogue.”

Both Luciana Sena, a senior legal studies major and Jared Armitage, a junior political science major, feel conservative perspectives aren’t heard on campus.

“It’s kind of an ongoing discussion here with the more conservative or Republican groups on campus that our free speech is often suppressed and I think that we saw that here today by not allowing one side of the discussion to speak,” Sena said.

UPD Chief of Police Gerald Schoenle wished more university staff were present at the event to contain the disruptive crowd of students who were unable to get in. He said the university will try to hold future potentially chaotic events in bigger venues like the Student Union Theater or Alumni Arena.

“Overall, well nobody got hurt, the points were heard on both sides so from that perspective so from that point of view it went OK,” Schoenle said.

“Controversial speaker at UB shouted down, heckled,” by Jay Tokasz, Buffalo News, May 1, 2017:

It wasn’t Berkeley or Middlebury, by any stretch.

But controversial speaker Robert Spencer was repeatedly shouted down and heckled at the podium Monday inside a University at Buffalo lecture room, as he tried to give a talk on “Exposing Radical Islam: The Dangers of Jihad in Today’s World.”

Two hundred people, most of them clearly opposed to Spencer’s point of view on Islam, sat in on the talk, while another 100 or more people were kept outside the room by university police due to fire code limits inside.

University officials and police had been on alert for the potential for significant demonstrations, in light of recent havoc at other campuses across the country over conservative-leaning speakers like Spencer, an author whose books on terrorism have been widely criticized by Islamic groups as anti-Muslim.

Spencer used a microphone during his talk but was frequently drowned out by shouts and chants to let more students inside. Some students called him a Nazi, while others yelled for him to shut up.

Spencer at times pulled out his cellphone to record the boisterous crowd. The attempt to silence someone who has a differing viewpoint was a “quintessentially fascist act, and you are manifesting it in a wonderful way tonight,” said Spencer. “What you have in this room besides the manifestation of fascism is a very interesting phenomenon in that I would doubt that any one of you has read a single thing I’ve written.”

Students began showing up to demonstrate against Spencer nearly two hours before his talk.

Tension had been building on campus since the conservative student group Young Americans for Freedom announced Spencer’s visit in April.

One of the aims of the group, which has had a chapter at UB since February, is to bring conservative-minded speakers to campus.

Within days, graduate student Alexandra Prince circulated a petition condemning Spencer as a “notorious Islamophobe and hate monger” and urging that student fees not be used to give him a platform on campus for hate speech.

Spencer frequently discusses terrorism by Muslims as being religiously motivated, an argument that has put him in the cross-hairs of American Muslims who say his interpretation of Islam is dangerously inaccurate and perverts their faith.

Spencer is part of a speaker’s bureau organized by the national Young Americans for Freedom Foundation, and he frequently talks on college campuses at the invitation of local YAF chapters….

An Open Letter to Linda Sarsour from NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind

NY State Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) has some questions for Linda Sarsour, who was chosen by CUNY to deliver its commencement speech at the School of Public Health on June 1. The Assemblyman’s open letter is delivered as a two-minute video message that he invites Sarsour to reply to.

“These are questions that many people are asking,” says Hikind. “I invite Linda Sarsour to publicly address these vital points about her past and her agenda.”

The video “Questions for Linda Sarsour from Assemblyman Hikind” can be seen here:

“I hope everyone who admires Sarsour’s association with the Women’s movement—which I also support—will watch this brief but important video,” said Hikind.

Sarsour has close ties with Rasmea Yousef Odeh, a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine convicted by an Israeli court for her role in the murder of two students, Leon Kanner and Eddie Joffe, in a Jerusalem supermarket bombing.
