My first impression or question is this "Why is this daughter of an elderly mother having her elderly mother rely on a government provided food box from the State of Louisiana?" God (YHWH) states in the 5th Commandment: "Thou shalt honor thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long..." I know that I and my wife have never allowed any of our parents to go hungry, unclothed properly, without shelter, heat/air, communications, and transportation because we believe God's (YHWH) Holy Word and Commandments and we live by them.
Second, I am definitely NOT knocking this food box distribution program, so long as it is reserved for the poor and needy as defined by God's (YHWH) Holy Word. We have a food distribution in my community at one of our Churches twice a month. I used to go and work this distribution, though I do not attend that Church; however, I stopped supporting that program because I noticed that ALL of the recipients would line up in their fine cars, all less than 3 years old, early in the morning in order to get whatever free food, clothing, and other items were being distributed that day. The recipients were by and large very entitled acting, rude to the workers, and most of the recipients would not even get out of their vehicle to help load the bounty that was being distributed. The one's who did get out of their vehicles looked to be in fine health with four working limbs, but normally obese. I would be out there lifting and loading boxes of food into the trunks of their new cars, SUVs, trucks, etc. with only one working leg battle scars all over my body, and in a backbrace while they sat and demanded that they be treated with great defference and respect. I finally said, NO MORE!
The problem with the entire welfare program is that the Federal Government has provided 88+ different programs to feed, house, clothe, medicate, and the list goes on citizens and non-citizens of the USA. The Demoncrats cry and stamp their feet when anyone says that we should enforce work requirements, or require the recipients to show up in person at a Social Services office with paperwork to justify what they are receiving on a routine basis, or if we say, let's give them healthy, nutritious food in a box instead of an EBT card. They rant about the dignity of the recipients and that they are smart enough to know what they need and how to spend "their" money. Yet, it is NOT their money. They didn't work for it and based on the way most of them look, they are NOT smart enough to know and buy what is best for them, but they abuse the system in order to pay for luxuries instead of necessities. I know, I am a heartless old man who just wants to see poor children starve, but when I am the one footing the bill, I would like my feelings and dignity to be considered. The truth of the matter is that these recipients LOST their dignity the day they traded their freedom for a handout. There is nothing I can do to further hurt their dignity because they have done this to themselves.
I call on President Trump to change the system so that the recipient class must show up to get the food that the government decides they should have. Don't give them an EBT card or any other cash equivalent. This will drastically reduce fraud, waste, and abuse of the sstem, and just maybe, if they must lower themselves to stand in line for their daily bread, they might just find some pride inside themselves, go get a job, pay their own way, and then further reduce the burden on We the People!
