Benny Johnson is being sued for defamation after two protesters outside of a ICE detention facility in Illinois claim they were wrongfully labeled violent extremists who assaulted federal officers.
Kyle Frankovich, a data scientist at Harvard University, and Maureen Foody, a contract court reporter, filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
They claim they were detained while protesting peacefully outside the ICE detention center.
The lawsuit claims they were wrongfully called domestic terrorists and violent.
