The World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Commission have launched a new global initiative for a digital vaccine passport, which some experts believe could have severe consequences.

The initiative, called the WHO Global Digital Health Certification Network (GDHCN), aims to establish a system for global mobility and protection against health threats, including pandemics.

The WHO will adopt the European Union's digital COVID-19 certification system to achieve this. The organizations assure  personal data collection will remain the responsibility of governments, not the WHO.

The WHO Director-General praised the partnership, emphasizing its focus on equity, innovation, transparency, and data protection. However, critics express concerns about the impact on individual freedoms and movement.

They argue  a digital passport system could restrict the unvaccinated and make vaccination mandatory for participation in various aspects of life. The collaboration between the WHO and the European Commission follows the recent World Health Assembly and the EU's previous implementation of digital vaccine passports.

Some experts believe  the EU has been pushing for a global digital health certificate during negotiations for the International Health Regulations and the WHO's pandemic treaty.

These experts see the implementation of pandemic passports as a significant threat to personal liberties and argue against their potential implications.

IMO – Every crisis offers a chance for various outcomes. While it holds true for the advancement of scientific breakthroughs, it becomes dangerous when an authoritative government exploits a crisis as a means to manipulate the population into compliance and subjugation.
