Jt statement by GOP AK Sen Murkowski & Danish parliamentarian representing Greenland: The appeal of Greenland is easy to understand. It is strategically located for defense, shipping, and more. It is also a storehouse for all sorts of minerals, the building blocks of society that will determine who leads—and controls—the industries of the future. Of course, a businessman turned president would be interested. But Greenland is not for sale. The question has been asked and firmly answered by the government of Greenland, Naalakkersuisut. As legislators representing Greenland in Denmark and the United States, we see a better path forward. The United States, like Denmark, should recognize that the future will be defined by partnership, not ownership. To ensure our alliance reaches its full potential, Americans must view Greenland as an ally, not an asset. Open for business, but not for sale. From our work on Arctic Parliamentarians, we are certain that U.S. ambitions for national security can be achieved without altering Greenland’s autonomy. We see that in Pittufik Space Base. Dialogue and cooperation can strengthen our ties; diplomacy can pave the way for a relationship and alliance that fulfills our mutual interests.

  • Greenland is free to decide which way they lean, Denmark has little to say about it. They can bark but can't bite. If they were looking for a partnership, why haven't they looked for a partner? As far as Murkowski, useless, always on the wrong side of issues, but has 3 more years left in office....unless Elon finds something on her!

  • The senator should be paying more attention to her constituents, rather than other nations that are in competition with Alaskans who want to use their own resources to improve their families' quality of life. If she truly believed this, she would be campaigning in Congress to restore more federal lands to state control. Those who have lived and worked in Alaska are well aware of federal government's heavy hand that prevents our access and development of that state's vast resources to the benefit of its citizens and our country in general.

  • The Kow from Alaska forgets WHO she actually works for, or "where" her job position is located, on the planet earth.  That "kick in the slats" I mentioned earlier, might give her a clue.

    • LOL,June

    • Some days, I just can't help myself :) :) :)

  • Murkowski is an idiot!  She can't understand the real intent of President Trump's stated interest in purchasing Greenland.  It was announced today that Denmark is now sending a greater naval presence and investing $2 billion to increase the defense preparedness of Greenland.  President Trump's offer to purchase Greenland was a catalyst to get Denmark off its 4th point of contact (Airborne for BUTT) and do something to increase the defense of Greenland.  President Trump was stating, in a subliminal way, "Hey Denmark, if you won't invest in the proper defense of strategically important Greenland, then maybe you need to sell it to the US so that we can take care of the problem!"  Trump WINS AGAIN!!!

  • Kick Collins and Murkowski from the Republican Party!

  • She has always been a disgusting rino why they keep electing her is beyond me
