A New York Times opinion writer was arrested and charged with acting as an unregistered foreign agent of the Iranian government last week, The Algemeiner reported.
Kaveh Afrasiabi, a former political science professor and former adviser to Iran’s nuclear negotiation team, has been accused of violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
According to a press release from the Department of Justice, “Afrasiabi allegedly sought to influence the American public and American policymakers for the benefit of his employer, the Iranian government, by disguising propaganda as objective policy analysis and expertise,” Acting U.S. Attorney DuCharme said.
The press release states that Afrasiabi has a PhD and frequently publishes books and articles. He also appears on American television programs discussing foreign relations matters, particularly Iran’s relations with the United States.

Nothing is a surprise any more. We have members of Congress with Chinese spies that either drives them around for years or sleeping with them. This doesn't seem to bother anyone while Pelosi is screaming that the enemy is within. Don't expect this senile old man to do anything about any of this - he probably doesn't even know what day it is. If Trump couldn't get the job done, no one can.
We all know about the fake news, and some defend it citing the first amendment. To me this story is proof enough that the fake news needs to be shut down before it does more destruction to the US.
The fake news will only be shut down when people stop accepting it as legitimate news. Problem is not many even read the news and most get their left wing propaganda from sites such as CNN (Communist News Network), The New York Times (All the news thats NOT fit to print) The Washington Post (no connection with the opinions of the actual Washington, our hero).
The first amendment is not an excuse to break the law... espionage is not protected speech or journalism... neither is slander and fraud.
