I have nothing but respect for the Amish community; their lives are not easy.
People from my area marry up in Canada and the other way around. The marriages take place within the community. They also travel to Mexico for medical treatments without passports, just birth certificates. They have special privileges because the6 spend many tens of thousand of dollars on medical care in Mexico, and th6 pay cash! I doubt they apply for immigration, they just come and go, get married, live here or there, no government knows the difference. They don't vote, they don't register, they barely get birth certificates for their babies, I bet there are a ton of illegal Amish both in Canada and America.
These people pick up and establish a new community in far away states, one day they are just gone and you find other Amish purchased their property. We just lost about twenty families in my neighborhood, they found the youngsters too liberal using electricity, phones and brighter colors for their clothing offensive, bought hundreds of acres in Missouri for many millions of dollars. They split them up between themselves and started building. A lot of it is financed within the community at 2%, I have to ask them how they manage immigrating back and forth.
Ilona, please let us know how they can immigrate back and forth legally. What's their secret?
Wow, wealthier than I would have imagined. Private, and not compliant, which I respect. Consider that the mainstream of American's birth records, marriage records and death records were kept in the family Bible. It wasn't anyone else's business.
Gov. has made sure that they/it intervenes in every aspect of our lives, one way or /and another.
Good, strong people. They will imigrate legally and become outstanding US citizens. They are the 'salt of the earth'
Steve, how can they immigrate legally when they just pull up stakes in Canada and move to America? It sounds like they are taking their buggies across the boarder without having applied for immigration visas, which usually takes a while. I don't understand how they can make that work.
