Hey Colonel, take it from another Colonel that is also a farmer, we know that food prices are already hyperinflating; however, you haven't seen anything yet. Fertilizer, fuel, and other costs related to modern farming have gone up exponentially. This has created a situation where we, the people who feed America, do not have the resources to produce the same yields that we have achieved in the past. This translates into reductions in the quantities of food items as well as an increase in the cost of what is produced. If you want to rag on farmers, you need to spend a year in our shoes.
Never meant to rag on farmers... they are only one part of the food chain and their costs of production are way up.... fuel and fertilizer, transportation of seed, and their harvests all weigh in on their cost of doing business. I see the Major AG corps like Conagra, Cargill, Monsanto, Dekalb, Tyson, etc., are engaged in price-fixing and other unfair trade practices that are currently driving up prices. I was responding to the post which stated "farmers say prices on food going up in the fall of this year... I was being sarcastic with regard to anyone... especially farmers that believed prices were not already artificially sky-high and reaching for the moon.... the manipulation of managed world markets... fuel, fertilizer, seed, transportation, etc... we don't go from relatively low inflation to hyperinflation overnight and many of shortages reported are the result of manipulated markets not production, capacity, or demand.

According to the US Department of Agriculture, food and its related industries, all contribute over $1 trillion to the country’s 19 trillion dollar GDP. If there is any manipulation of markets it is not the family farmer...
