SHOCKING—Dems Want Guns! …But why?

30992748473?profile=RESIZE_400xIf I were to tell you that the vast majority of the members of the Progressive Democrat Party are now demanding guns, a year ago you would have given me a tin-foil hat and warned me not to play in the street.

Today the world has changed! Over the last year or so, there have been a number of politically motivated crimes. Two attempts on President Trump's life, the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and the numerous attacks on ICE personnel all show there should be concern about Progressives.

But the Progressives, who have long called for gun control, are now embracing firearms, claiming fear of the Right, but is there a deeper reason?

Yet, as voices within the Democrat Party demand greater access to firearms for self-protection, a sobering irony lingers: the perpetrators of much gun violence, including high-profile assassinations and street-level shootings, often hail from environments and demographics that lean heavily Democrat Progressive.

The shift isn't hypothetical; it's measurable in sales data and personal testimonies. Firearm retailers report a surge in purchases from first-time buyers identifying as liberal or progressive-leaning.

According to recent analyses, Progressives are claiming this uptick is driven by fears of authoritarian overreach under the Trump administration, including potential rollbacks on civil rights and rising incidents of political unrest, but is it true?

  • In California and New York, strongholds of progressive governance, gun shop owners have noted a 20-30% increase in sales to women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and young progressives over the past year.
  • At Minnesota University, a group of progressive students, motivated by campus safety concerns and broader societal anxieties, began fabricating custom parts in a garage setup. What started as a hobby evolved into a quiet advocacy for accessible self-defense tools, challenging the stereotype of gun-shy liberals. "We're not becoming NRA members," one participant quipped in a recent interview. "We're just realizing that waiting for the system to protect us isn't always an option."

However, the Progressives need to be reminded that it was them that demanded the defunding of police, which in turn makes society less safe.

Even as progressive lawmakers in states like Florida and Pennsylvania push for stricter controls, such as bans on assault-style weapons and expanded background checks, the grassroots level tells a different tale.

  • In Virginia, incoming Progressive leaders like Abigail Spanberger are navigating this tension, balancing reform ambitions with constituents' growing calls for personal protection in an era of open-carry expansions.

At its core, this trend reflects a broader disillusionment. Polls from early 2025 show that 45% of Progressives now view gun ownership more favorably than in 2020, up from 32%, with self-defense cited as the top reason. It's a demand for rights rooted in vulnerability, not ideology, and is the result of the defund police movement.

But as Progressives are starting to enjoy the empowering potential of the Second Amendment, a stark blind spot persists: the demographics behind America's gun violence epidemic. High-profile assassins and everyday street shooters disproportionately emerge from urban, low-income communities that vote overwhelmingly Progressive.

According to the National Institute of Justice's comprehensive database, most public mass shootings involve perpetrators with personal grievances rather than political manifestos, and these individuals are frequently products of under-resourced neighborhoods in cities like Chicago, Baltimore, and Philadelphia, progressive bastions where poverty, gang activity, and is the result of the defund police movement.

Gun Violence Archive documents thousands of annual incidents, with perpetrators often young men from mostly-minority districts that deliver 80-90% Democrat votes in elections. Political affiliation data is sparse (many perpetrators aren't registered voters), but when available, it mostly aligns neatly with Democrat strongholds.

Yet, the irony bites: the same communities demanding gun rights for protection are often those bearing the brunt of the violence, perpetuated by individuals who, statistically, share their voting bloc and those communities where the police have been defunded.

As 2025 unfolds, with Project 2025's pro-gun blueprint looming and progressive-led states like Virginia eyeing reforms. In a nation awash in 400 million firearms, the answer may well determine whether guns can be the Democrats new political weapon.

But let's also be real. The ones who are committing most of the violence of late are Progressives. It's not Trump and company; it's the fringe Progressives who think our borders should be open so every criminal who wants to can walk in here, claim the United States as theirs, and push the rest of us out of our country.

Final Word: Do the Progressives want to arm themselves because they fear Trump and MAGA, or do they intend to mobilize for an armed civil war?
