The U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division announced Tuesday that it has sued Arizona over a law signed by the state’s Republican governor in March that requires people registering to vote prove their citizenship to participate in a presidential election or to vote by mail in any federal election.
Republican proponents of the law, HB 2492, claim that requiring voters to provide a documentary proof of citizenship, like a birth certificate or passport, helps prevent voter fraud. But voting rights advocates say that non-citizen voting is extremely rare, and the law will disenfranchise voters who will have to jump through additional hurdles to be eligible to vote.
“HB 2492’s onerous documentary proof of citizenship requirement for certain federal elections constitutes a textbook violation of the National Voter Registration Act,” in addition to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke said in a press call Tuesday.
The law is set to take effect in January, despite a 2013 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that Arizona couldn’t require voters using the federal voter registration form to provide proof of citizenship. The high court did allow Arizona to continue allowing proof of citizenship for state elections.

When the fed sues a State it is a federal issue and ripe for the SCOTUS to decide: Does a State have the right to require proof of US citizenship for a person to vote in a federal election?
If the SCOTUS rules this is a State right then it applies to all the States. Case(s) on point is the manditory drinking age of 21. If the court can rule a person must be 21 to drink alcohol then this means the person must show proof of age. The same would be true in voting. Therefore, proof of citizenship is no different than proof of age.
DOJ if you need a birth certificate to prove you're a citizen and of age to apply for a driver's license then you need to prove you are a citizen to vote. Why the hell don't you tell Mexico and other countries where Americans are living to let them vote on their election. Tell me why this country should allow anyone to vote the answer is you hate for what America stand for and your dream is to turn it to a socialist country.

The DOJ clowns who are pushing this need arrested and jailed for about 50 years each. No non-American is allowed to vote for anything. They need removed and returned from whence they came and vetted like real immigrants are required to do. This is just criminals supporting criminals.
This has prompted me to decide against voting in the 2024 election... so yes, this federal decision has prompted me to discontinue voting. Why? Because I know that if just anyone and his cousin can vote in a federal election, my vote will not count because there will be HUGE voter fraud, despite what this article says. This throws in the towel for me on federal elections.
It's bigger than that, the voting machines can be manipulated as well where a algorithm determines who wins the election. In Ga 2022 primary, every incumbent received 60+% of the vote and won their race. In Fulton county, the hard corpus ballots were checked and just in this one county, corrupt Brad received 68% of the vote. The hard copy ballot counted tiaras had him get 52% of the vote. We also had democrats changing parties and voting for corrupt Brad and Brian Kemp, just so they could beat these criminals in the fall election. Liz Chaney is asking the democrats to vote for her as well in the August Wyoming Primary.
They cannot win unless they CHEAT. They are the experts and the Republicans have gone along with it and let them get away with it. They used to use the Blacks claiming they could not get an ID because they thought they were stupid. Now that they cannot use that as an excuse they will now use the illegals to vote for them. We have voter laws and need to be abided by.
