There was a bit of good news today; the Longshoremen have called off the strike until January 2025, after discussions between the union and the Maritime Association. With any luck, DJT will be back in the Oval Office, so if the two parties do NOT reach a quick and amicable agreement, he will do it for them! In the meantime, the ports are open, longshoremen are working and products are moving in and out of the country as they are supposed to.
PERHAPS THE DOCK WORKERS UNION SHOULD CONSIDER GETTING SOMEONE ELSE TO DO THEIR TALKING FOR THE,A MAN THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED TO EARN OVER 900,000 DOLLARS PER YEAR JUST DOESNT SEEM TO BE THE CORRECT PERSON LEADING THEM AND ASKING FOR MORE MONEY

I am NOT pro-union. But, there is something to consider here. The Union is asking for a 77% pay increase over a 5 year period or $5 per year. Longshoremen currently only get paid $20/hr up to a maximum of $39 per hour. If one looks at how badly these workers have been impacted by rampant Biden-Harris inflation, even if the union achieves their demands, the Longshoremen won't reach parity with past inflation until 2026. That is 2 years into the contract. I know that the Union President is well paid; however, if one looks at how much most Union Presidents are paid, this guy is working for below market wages. On another point, this strike will drive home the train wreck of the Biden-Harris economic policies just before a national election. This strike is GREAT for the Trump-Vance ticket!
Well Colonel, I grew up in a closed shop state (Pa.) and watched what they do. The day after I graduated from high school I left for the Navy and only returned occsionally to vist family. I've also known of the union garbage cornering people like the one who joined the union and was so happy he was working hard and got caught in a stairwell by 3 pieces of union trash and was threatened because he was outperforming them. This $900,000.00 is just more of the union garbage driving up the cost of living. It happens in ALL unions.
Brother, I agree with you that Unions in the United States are corrupt and that they do way more for the union bosses than they ever do for the union members. I believe there was a time for unions, but that time has long since passed. I know about the examples you provided and I am just as outraged. Nevertheless, this strike speaks volumes about the total breakdown in the relationship between Unions and the Demoncrat Party and my hope is that this strike will wake up many union members across America to the fact that the Demoncrats have just used the votes of union members to gain power without any benefit to the union members. At this point in history (October 2024), the more Americans who wake up to the tyranical behaviour and anti-American policies of the Demoncrat Party the more I like it. TRUMP-VANCE!
