First Aid and State relief for Hurricane Helene victims are arriving nationwide, even as the number of fatalities in the Southern states keeps rising. 

As of Sunday morning, the North Carolina National Guard (NCNG) had activated more than 200 vehicles and aircraft, including high-water response vehicles, hoists, and emergency aviation assets, as well as over 500 soldiers and airmen.

Where is the rapid response FEMA Team? 

According to the NCNG, it carried out 16 air missions that saved the lives of 119 people and 11 animals.

"Our National Guard air assets have identified people on the ground and utilized social media and emergency calls to locate, identify, and evacuate citizens in Western North Carolina," the NCNG stated in a report on X.

State aviation assets have transported more than 34,000 pounds of goods for distribution, including supplies for food, water, and medicine. We have received more manpower and aviation support in the last 48 hours from Connecticut, Maryland, Ohio, Iowa, Florida, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania, "the NCNG statement went on.

The Black Mountain Police Department announced on Sunday night that they had inspected the Bee Tree Dam and found it to be in good condition.

The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office has rechecked the Bee Tree dam and found it to be secure. Kindly continue to check in for developments," the department posted on Facebook. 

The department sent out an evacuation alert 30 minutes before the region was declared safe to reopen, citing the imminent collapse of the Bee Tree Dam.

Additionally, the Asheville Fire Department made sure there was no need for an evacuation due to the dam's safety.

"The Bee Tree dam is operating according to its intended design. Water enters via the planned spillway. Today, water resources finished their aerial visual checks. Employees of Water Resources are still working to address the situation, the department stated in an update on X.

At a morning press event, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper provided an update and expressed gratitude to all for their diligent work.

"North Carolina is a powerful state with the greatest first responders in the country. Their efforts and lives to keep North Carolina safe are appreciated. Cooper wrote on X, "This is an exceptional tragedy that calls for an unprecedented response.

Echoing Combs, fellow country music performer Chase Rice sent support to individuals residing in the Carolinas.

Rice reposted Combs' statement and said, "I want in; God bless Carolina."

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis posted on X, stating, "I have authorized the FL National Guard to send air assets to North Carolina in support of NC's Hurricane Helene response."

Cooper predicted more deaths at a press conference on Sunday as search teams reached areas the storm had cut off. As of yet, there have been 11 confirmed deaths.

In order to maintain space for emergency vehicles, he advised locals in western North Carolina to refrain from using the highways.
