{ legalinsurrection.com } ~ PressTV, which is affiliated with the Iranian regime, has reported that the government has revealed a plan to change to the Euro... “as its official reporting foreign currency” as the country’s rial continues to plummet. The rial’s problems have caused citizens to rush to the banks to take out US dollars. This week, 60,000 rials could be purchased for just one American dollar. The slump comes at a time when many believe President Trump will scrap the Iranian nuclear deal put into place by President liar-nObama. Trump’s final decision will come in early in May. For the past several months, “Iranians have rushed to buy hard currencies and gold coins in recent months” due to the possibility of America leaving the deal. Other causes include “political feuding” and some have accused traders “of deliberately driving the currency lower with speculative bots.” It’s remained mostly unreported, but if you look on social media, there are still protests against the regime around Iran...

{ dailycaller.com } ~ Facing threats of legal action, the Justice Department on Wednesday provided the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence... with a two-page document showing the FBI’s basis for opening the Russia counterintelligence investigation during the 2016 presidential campaign. The agency provided the document, known as an Electronic Communication, or EC, after California Rep. Devin Nunes and South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy met with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Nunes sent a letter to Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray April 4, demanding an un-redacted copy of the EC, as well as access to applications for surveillance warrants against President Donald Trump’s former campaign adviser, Carter Page. Nunes set April 11 as the deadline for the document production...  http://dailycaller.com/2018/04/11/justice-department-devin-nunes-russia-probe-document/?utm_medium=email

{ legalinsurrection.com } ~ There isn’t much of a pretense anymore that the Mueller investigation is about alleged Russian campaign collusion... Maybe it started out about collusion, but it veered off course within a couple of months, when Mueller decided that Paul Manafort needed to be investigated for conduct many years ago having nothing to do with the campaign, or even Russia. Rod Rosenstein created the paperwork in early August 2017 to retroactively expand Mueller’s investigation and justify Mueller conduct that already had taken place. The raid on Trump personal attorney Michael Cohen’s law office by the U.S. Attorney’s office in the Southern District of New York, was at the referral of Mueller, and signed off by Rosenstein. That raid was a frontal assault on Trump’s business and personal history. If reporting is accurate, the records seized concerned not just payments to Stormy Daniels, but also the Access Hollywood tape revealed during the campaign. It’s fair to assume that a wide range of records going beyond those salacious topics were grabbed by the FBI, including Trump’s other personal and business dealings over a long period of time...  https://legalinsurrection.com/2018/04/the-pretense-is-over-that-the-mueller-investigation-is-still-about-russian-campaign-collusion/

Palestinians: License to Kill Americans

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ Hate speech and incitement make up the core of the Palestinian narrative... For several decades now, the Palestinians have been waging a massive and vicious campaign of incitement against Israel. This campaign has made it impossible for any Arab to even think about the prospects of peace with Israel. Notably, the Palestinian hatred of Israel is not linked to anything Israel does or does not do. Rather, the Palestinian hatred of Israel is based on Israel's existence. Palestinians hate Israel because they believe that Jews have no right to a sovereign country of their own in the Middle East. Palestinian hate speech against Israel is part of the global landscape: by now, no one even expects anything else from them. A Palestinian mosque preacher calling Jews "descendants of monkeys and pigs" is no story at all -- just more of the same. Similarly, a Palestinian maiming or murdering a Jew has become the norm. The day will come -- and it is not far away -- when reports of Palestinians not inciting against Israel and Jews will be a remarkable one. The day will come when the only story worth reporting is when a Palestinian did not carry out a terrorist attack against a Jew that day... EU and the US should cut off all funding, period.  https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/12147/palestinians-kill-americans

CBO Report Misleads but Still Underscores Debt Crisis

sURQ43pah4OJ8WYbRdgsgO9f2f35sH5D2WMKD--FbK9b4D5Yj4ZShGAZshaHgZnqFH5w5ZAQEvB7YDiS0XylESCob2P5ybkSJXn9biJlGcTXYlsR7QQzHIr-97ZqRqTMDvjg-wKPj4IB1UGryvlw2RyZYPHjG8zqioSlv2myhfo=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=450by Louis DeBroux:  With the newest Congressional Budget Office report laying out the impact on the deficit of Republican tax reform and the omnibus spending bill, the national debt is once again a national discussion. Yet it can be an infuriating discussion because the topic is riddled with technocratic minutiae, political doublespeak and fiscal sleight of hand.

The CBO predicts the combination of tax cuts and new spending will drive deficits back above the $1 trillion threshold annually for the foreseeable future, and the national debt to 100% of GDP by 2028. The CBO claims tax cuts will “cost” the government $1.3 trillion in revenue.
There are several problems with these claims. First, the CBO is a horrible predictor of economic outcomes; it’s often inaccurate by orders of magnitude. For example, before liar-nObamaCare was passed, the CBO predicted liar-nObamaCare’s cost at $938 billion over the following decade. Just two years later, the CBO had “revised” that number to $1.76 trillion, doubling the projected cost. Likewise, the CBO drastically overestimated the number of Americans who would enroll in liar-nObamaCare (24 million projected, nine million actual). Historically, the CBO has significantly overestimated potential revenues from tax increases and significantly underestimated economic growth (and thus tax receipts) from tax cuts.
But perhaps the biggest problem is the idea that tax cuts “cost” the government money. For that to be true, one must start from the premise that the money rightfully belongs to the government, not those earning it. That is fundamentally wrong.
Of course, the lamentations of Democrats over increasing the deficit ring hollow. They cheered the nearly $10 trillion of new debt under Barack liar-nObama; indeed, they demanded even more spending, not less.
Despite typical Democrat hypocrisy, the rapidly expanding national debt is leading us toward economic catastrophe. First gradually, then suddenly.
Under liar-nObama, America suffered its worst economic recovery since the Great Depression. liar-nObama became the first president to never achieve a single year of 3% GDP growth, averaging just 1.5%. But President Trump’s aggressive agenda to slash regulations and enact pro-growth policies has jump-started the economy, with two 3%+ quarters in his first year. That creates a problem, though. The $10 trillion in debt underliar-nObama was created with essentially 0% interest rates, but as the Trump economy heats up, interest rates rise, so the cost of servicing the national debt rises. The more money taken in taxes to pay interest on the debt, the less for private investment and consumer spending, creating a dampening effect on the economy.
The reality is that the national debt will never be paid off by making the “rich” pay their “fair share,” for several reasons. First, the top 1% pays nearly half of all federal income taxes, and the bottom 50% pay almost nothing. Taxing the most productive people even more is a disincentive for additional work and investment. Why work more if Uncle Sam is going to take half? Second, if government took 100% — every dime — earned by the top 1%, it would fund the government for about six months. After we’ve completely robbed the “rich,” who do we rob next? Third, spending is far outpacing revenue growth.
liar-nObama once told backstabber-John Boehner, “We don’t have a spending problem.” He couldn’t have been more wrong.
The primary drivers of the national debt are entitlement spending and interest on the debt. Entitlement spending is on autopilot, expanding every year despite shrinking “contributions.” The Social Security Trust Fund has been hemorrhaging red ink for years, and the CBO projects it will be bankrupt in 13 years. That will result in either reduced benefits for seniors or high taxes on the working class, either of which would have a devastating effect on the economy. Likewise, the near-term outlook for Medicare and Medicaid is dismal, with tax revenues unable to keep up with spending growth. By 2028, the public debt will total $82,000 per AmericanSo what does this mean for the midterm elections?
Democrats are campaigning on a promise to roll back the tax cuts, which seems bizarre considering the benefits of the tax cuts go disproportionately to the lower and middle class.
As for Republicans, the credit they rightfully deserve for the success of the tax cuts — and the pay raises and bonuses that followed — is somewhat negated by their passage of the massive omnibus bill that, while including from GOP priorities like military spending increases, was held hostage by Democrats until they secured domestic spending increases. That was probably inevitable with the GOP holding such a narrow majority in the Senate, but it still doesn’t sit well with a party whose voters have long demanded some fiscal sanity.
While the vote on a Balanced Budget Amendment this week is little more than an election year gimmick, there is another opportunity for Republicans to energize their base; use the 1974 Impoundment Act to “claw back” some of the spending allocated in the omnibus bill. The advantages of this are that it can be done with a simple majority vote in the House and Senate, it is not subject to a filibuster, and it is automatically fast-tracked in both houses of Congress. It wouldn’t negate all of the wasteful spending of the omnibus, but it would be a good start and would show Republican voters, in what will be an election won by turning out the party base, that Republicans are doing more than paying lip-service to fiscal responsibility.
And it might just give the GOP the edge it needs to once again buck historical trends and avoid a Democrat wave in November.   ~The Patriot Pos

{ timesofisrael.com } ~ US President Donald Trump on Wednesday warned Russia that “nice and new” missiles would be heading to Syria and Moscow should “get ready.”... In a tweet, Trump also said Russia shouldn’t be allied with a “Gas Killing Animal,” a reference to Syrian President Bashar Assad whose regime is accused of killing dozens of people in an alleged chemical weapons attack on rebel-held Douma over the weekend. Russian lawmakers have warned the United States that Moscow would view an airstrike on Syria as a war crime, saying it could trigger a direct military clash between the two former Cold War adversaries. “Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria,” Trump tweeted. “Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and ‘smart!’ You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!”...  https://www.timesofisrael.com/russia-get-ready-trump-says-nice-and-new-missiles-will-strike-syria/?utm_source=The+Times+of+Israel+Daily+Edition&utm_campaign=3cb58dd40f-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_04_11&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_adb46cec92-3cb58dd40f-54638825

{ frontpagemag.com } ~ The FBI and DOJ and SDNY wouldn't possibly authorize a raid on the president's lawyer unless... they had evidence of a crime beyond the faintest shadow of a doubt. That's not just the message from the media. Plenty of analysts on the right have been putting out the message. The experts tell us that there's no way something like this would have been authorized otherwise. But let's not fall into the fallacy of assuming that the old rules apply. They don't. If you think that the key players wouldn't authorize a major move against Trump without solid evidence, let's recall that the Steele Dossier was used to justify a FISA warrant. { theconservativetreehouse.com } ~ Representative Matt Gaetz sent out a tweet today that is absolutely accurate... You can call it a soft-coup, or you can call it politicization of the DOJ and FBI, but the end result is the same – the intentional effort to manipulate, influence, and ultimately subvert an election for the presidency of the United States…. and that’s what the DOJ is trying to hide. If you peel the skin off the onion, and get down to the substantive core issue that represents the biggest risk to the entire collective group who worked to subvert the 2016 presidential election, you get to the FISA-702(16)(17) and Title-1 surveillance abuse that was carried out by the liar-nObama Intelligence Community, DOJ-NSD and the FBI. by Jonathan Tirone

{ jewishworldreview.com } ~ Multiple events this week will help determine the fate of the Iran nuclear deal that President Donald Trump is threatening to tear up.

John Bolton, a veteran of Republican administrations who's called for military action to stop Iran from getting a nuclear bomb, takes over as Trump's national security adviser on Monday, just as missile strikes on a Syrian military base controlled by President Bashar Assad left at least 14 people dead, including Iranians, according to local reports.

The strikes came just hours after an alleged chemical attack on a rebel stronghold near the Syrian capital Damascus prompted Trump to warn Iran and Russia that there'll be a "big price to pay" for backing Assad in Syria's civil war. It wasn't immediately clear who fired the missiles at the Syrian airbase known as T-4. The Pentagon said it wasn't involved and Russia blamed Israel.

As tensions escalated in Syria, President Hassan Rouhani celebrated National Nuclear Technology Day in Tehran with the unveiling of 83 "nuclear achievements" by Iranian scientists before sending envoys to a meeting in Beijing that will underscore China's key role in the country's civilian program.

Trump has set a May 12 deadline to improve or scrap the liar-nObama-era accord that waived sanctions on Iran in exchange for curbs on the country's nuclear activities. Unilateral abrogation would almost certainly trigger a diplomatic crisis between the U.S. and the other signatories -- Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia -- and could even lead to "military confrontation," according to Foad Izadi, a foreign policy specialist at the University of Tehran.

"The future of the agreement is very much in doubt," Izadi said.

Then-President Barack liar-nObama hailed the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action for Iran as a milestone for hard-nosed diplomacy, but Trump has criticized the document for not addressing the country's missile program or support for terrorist groups. Some of his staunchest allies, including Iran's regional rivals Saudi Arabia and Israel, have been opposed from the start.

While the U.S. acknowledges that Iran is adhering to all of its commitments, Trump's envoy, Brian Hook, said the country was violating the spirit of the deal by disrupting "regional and international peace and security." He spoke in Vienna after the last session of the committee monitoring the agreement.

The March 16 meeting focused on concerns that U.S. stonewalling and saber-rattling were preventing Iran from reaping the economic benefits promised, even though inspectors have repeatedly verified its compliance, documents seen by Bloomberg show. Trump's threats to reinstate sanctions hamper the plans of companies eager to invest in Iran, including Daimler AG, Airbus SE and Peugeot SA. Both China and Russia already have major investments in Iran.

Iran is focused on making sure JCPOA countries follow through on commitments to build a reactor for producing isotopes used in high-tech products for industries from health care to engineering, according to the documents. The pledge was key to convincing Iran to destroy most of the reactor it had spent a decade assembling at a facility called Arak, which was designed to produce medical isotopes but could also have yielded plutonium for weapons.

The Atomic Energy Organization in Tehran said last month that it will announce on April 9 technological advancements related to heavy water, the element that will moderate reactions in its reactors. Iran has already hired China to help redesign Arak, but the JCPOA has yet to give the sign-off needed to begin work.

"Any failure of the negotiating partners to provide a new design would be a material violation by that side of the deal since Iran has completed its part," said Robert Kelley, a U.S. nuclear weapons engineer and former inspector for the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.

This is where Iran and other proponents of the deal get nervous about Trump's appointment of Bolton, who has a history of scuttling deals. Back in 2003, as then-President George W. Bush's undersecretary of state for arms control, he successfully pushed for the U.S. to abandon the so-called Agreed Framework to denuclearize North Korea.

Bolton later said he pounced on a U.S. intelligence finding that North Korea had concealed a centrifuge program to convince Bush to back out of the agreement rather than pursue diplomacy. "This was the hammer I had been looking for," he wrote. North Korea then expedited its weapons program and detonated its first bomb three years later.

Izadi of Tehran University said Iranian diplomats are keenly aware of North Korea's experience and Bolton's role, and aren't optimistic the deal will last.

"Bolton is a very dangerous man," Izadi said. "He wants to achieve what he's long been asking for, which is regime change."

‘Russia, get ready’: Trump says
‘nice and new’ missiles will strike Syria
by AGENCIES

All Those Assurances the Govt Must Have Evidence
by Daniel Greenfield
And we were told endlessly about the rigorous process there too. But we're also told that Team Mueller doesn't leak even though the media is full of leaks coming from his people... https://www.frontpagemag.com/point/269853/all-those-assurances-govt-must-have-evidence-daniel-greenfield

Representative Matt Gaetz is Exactly Right –
BIG PICTURE: DOJ Covering FISA Abuse
by sundance
The actions taken by ‘inside’ government officials and ‘outside’ ideological cohorts is exactly what all of their collective “resistance” activity is about. Liberals Suddenly Care About Wasting Taxpayer Money
by Elizabeth Harrington
{ freebeacon.com } ~ Security costs for cabinet secretaries are "steep." Spending is "lavish" again. When, God forbid, a secretary takes his wife with him on a business trip... CNN is there with the documents in hand, showing her "involvement." The New York Times is now giving tips on how to save taxpayers money, while lambasting Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's use of military charter flights. Mnuchin's travel ended up costing half of what liar-Obama administration secretaries spent on average. Oddly, the Times never followed up. The latest target is Scott Pruitt, arguably President Trump's most effective cabinet secretary. While there is questionable conduct for sure, like using an obscure law to give aides huge taxpayer-funded raises, it's curious the media suddenly care how much international junkets cost. The first scandal that caught the press's attention was Pruitt's trip to Italy last summer to attend the G-7 summit, which cost $84,000 in airfare and security, roughly the same that Lisa Jackson, liar-nObama's first EPA administrator, spent on average on flights and security for four international trips...

John Bolton ruins Iran's nuclear
holiday as Trump warns on Syria

by Jonathan Tirone

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ Senate Republicans were surprised to learn Wednesday that Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa... plans to try to advance legislation that would prevent President Trump from firing special counsel Robert Mueller. A bipartisan group of four senators on Tuesday introduced a bill that would specifically prevent Trump from firing Mueller, whose investigation the president has labeled a "witch hunt." The bill would among other things, "ensure that the Special Counsel can only be fired for good cause by a senior Justice Department official, and the reason must be provided in writing." Some believe that only Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein can fire Mueller, but the White House said Tuesday it believes Trump can fire Mueller directly. "Firewalls" and "Taint Teams" Do

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ Many TV pundits are telling viewers not to worry about the government's intrusion into possible lawyer/client privileged communications... between President Trump and his lawyer, since prosecutors will not get to see or use any privileged material. This is because prosecutors and FBI agents create firewalls and taint teams to preclude privileged information from being used against the client in a criminal case. But that analysis completely misses the point and ignores the distinction between the Fifth Amendment on the one hand, and the Fourth and Sixth Amendments on the other. The Fifth Amendment is an exclusionary rule. By its terms, it prevents material obtained in violation of the privilege of self-incrimination from being used to incriminate a defendant – that is to convict him of a crime. But the Fourth and Sixth Amendments provide far broader protections: they prohibit government officials from in any way intruding on the privacy of lawyer/client confidential rights of citizens. In other words, if the government improperly seizes private or privileged material, the violation has already occurred, even if the government never uses the material from the person from whom it was seized...  https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/12154/donald-trump-michael-cohen

by Fiamma Nirenstein
{ jewishworldreview.com } ~ The risk of the "March of Return," organized by Hamas, is that of a new kind of mass terrorism, a new kind of war.

The whole world knows that this organization's foremost aim, together with the death of the Jews and the conquest of the West, is a strategic turn taking place with these mass marches. It's a terrorist spark in the haystack of the Middle East. Yet the United Nations again blames Israel by engaging in its favorite sport — blaming Israel, even if it was unable to pass a condemnation this time.

U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres supports the call for an international inquiry. He adheres to the traditional and wrong idea that Israel has used disproportionate force in countering the mass demonstrations on its border, while promoting the idea that it killed Palestinians who marched "peacefully" along its border. And European Union official Federica Mogherini argues against Israel that the civil liberties of the protestors, armed with rocks and Molotov cocktails, must be respected. Whose liberties? Those of the Islamist dictators of Gaza killing the Jews?

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, a so-called human-rights champion whose country holds the title of being the world's biggest state sponsor of international terrorism, immediately presented himself as Hamas defender by saying: "The Zionists tyrants murder peaceful Palestinian protestors, whose land they have stolen, as they march to escape their cruel and inhuman apartheid bondage." Taking to the stage with him is that other proponent of human rights, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan, whose army has almost concluded its ethnic cleansing of the Kurdish region of Afrin in Northern Syria.

Hamas is a terrorist organization. Anyone who dares to oppose it is executed. The marchers — pushed towards the border with Israel en masse — had members of the armed militia of Hamas in their midst. Evidence came in the fact that 10 terrorists were among the killed, and by a skewed pride noting that among the 15 dead, five of them were members of its military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Hamas took power in 2007 against Fatah. The Israelis withdrew every last Jew from the Gaza Strip, leaving Gaza residents to be the masters of the agriculture and industrial facilities left behind, which were subsequently destroyed, often razed to the ground. Hamas doesn't care about the welfare of its people; it cares about their obedience in fighting the Jews.

Hamas engages only in warfare. Its charter sees in "world Zionism" the origin of all evil, citing the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. It encourages killing them, stating: "Allah is its goal, the prophet is its model, the Koran is its constitution, jihad is its path, and death for the sake of Allah is its most coveted desire." Hamas has invested the major part of its millions of dollars that have come as donations from Iran, Qatar and other sympathizers in missiles and tunnels.

Its perennial humanitarian crisis would not exist if those funds had gone into businesses and social structures. Instead, Hamas financed the terrorist enterprise that has killed thousands in Israel. Israel tried to continue to allow help for and trade with the population. But, of course, the border is closed to terrorism, as is the one with Egypt, which would be the most natural exit. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is careful not to liberalize Gaza. Hamas is only interested in using the exasperated crowd for terrorist ends than for any real progress.

After trying in vain to terrorize Israel with the Second Intifada, Hamas moved to the strategy of missiles against citizens in the south. Only the "Iron Dome" anti-missile defense system saved Israelis from a massacre. The timing of the symbolic move over the crowds last week was not lost on an Israel preparing for Passover. Or at a time when Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) is ill and weak, and competition for his job is being considered. It also comes at a time when the Arab world tries to conform to a new course inaugurated by the Trump administration, in which the U.S. Embassy will move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in a matter of months.

It is no coincidence that Hamas wants to continue its demonstrations until May 15, the day of Israel's independence and the proposed transfer of the embassy. At the border during those "pacifist" demonstrations, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh hurled death threats and calls for Israel's destruction. He also announced the conquest of Israel in order to give it to the Palestinian "refugees" and their descendants — people Hamas does not allow to escape from what has become a conceptual ghetto, consigning them to militant terrorism.

The crowds who marched to the border did so for "the right of return" — a strategic move to ally Hamas to the most extreme front. Never can the return be part of a peace process unless it wipes out the Jewish state. The march only wants death and destruction. It is for this reason that Israel cannot allow Hamas to penetrate its security fence, especially when it advances by throwing rocks, launching Molotov cocktails and burning tires. Last week, Hamas launched human missiles. Escalation will come, especially if the United Nations and the Arab world continue to do nothing but fire off misnomers.

{ weeklystandard.com } ~ On Wednesday, House Speaker Paul Ryan announced that he would won’t be seeking re-election in 2018... That will leave Ryan’s House seat in Wisconsin’s 1st District open. And while it’s not the most vulnerable seat the GOP has to defend in 2018, it’s far from safe. This graphic data is from Daily Kos Elections  shows Trump’s 2016 margin of victory in every currently Republican-held House district as well as the difference between Trump’s margin and Romney’s margin in each district. Wisconsin’s 1st District is highlighted. Ryan’s district might not be competitive if the national environment was neutral. Wisconsin’s 1st District moved right in the 2016 election. Trump won the district by 10 points after Romney took it only by four points in 2012 though 2012 may be an odd case because Ryan was the GOP’s vice presidential nominee. And in 2008, Barack liar-nObama won the area by about three points while winning the national popular vote by seven, suggesting that it took a real step to the right over the course of the last four to eight years. If you add that to Ryan’s incumbency advantage, you get a district that would’t typically be near the bottom of the GOP’s list of worries. But the national environment isn’t neutral. Democrats currently lead by 7.3 points in the RealClearPolitics generic ballot poll average which aggregates surveys that basically ask a national sample of voters who they’re going to vote for in the upcoming House elections, and Trump’s approval rating is historically low. Republicans have also underperformed Trump’s margin by double digits on average in legislative special elections. So Democrats are likely going to be able to reach into less-than-friendly territory and grab some right-leaning districts like Ryan’s...  https://www.weeklystandard.com/david-byler/paul-ryans-retirement-leaves-his-seat-vulnerable-to-democrats

{ israeltoday.co.il } ~ Israel's military forces have been put on high alert after Iran threatened to retaliate over the bombing early Monday... of an air base in central Syria. The T-4 Air Base had reportedly been a headquarters for Iranian drones being used in support of the Syrian regime. Israel viewed that and all other Iranian military forces in Syria as an unacceptable threat to the security fo the Jewish state. While Israel maintained its policy of ambiguity regarding the T-4 base bombing, Russia, Syria, Iran and the United States all said that Israeli aircraft had been responsible. "The crimes will not remain unanswered," insisted Ali Akbar Velayati, a top adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei...

Trump’s wall is a minor expenditure

{ spectator.org } ~ The same pols who say that America can’t afford Trump’s proposed wall have spent lavishly on the protection of borders outside the country... Every year they give billions of dollars to governments across Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. That American largesse, combined with the astronomical costs of U.S. military protection, allow those countries to seal off their borders. Meanwhile, America’s southern border remains largely unprotected and pols pretend they lack the funds to address the crisis. As President Trump put it in his inaugural address, “We’ve defended other nations’ borders while refusing to defend our own.” Compared to the trillions America has spent in the Middle East, Trump’s proposed wall represents a minor expenditure. Or take the billions of dollars spent year after year protecting South Korea from North Korea. Somehow Washington can find the money to pay for thousands of soldiers to man borders at the other end of the world. But America’s own border with Mexico? No, protecting that is unthinkable, claim pols. The wall is too “expensive,” says Chuck clown-Schumer. This is the same senator who turned up last year at a “Global Citizen Festival” in Central Park to decry proposed cuts to the “international affairs budget,” insisting that America could afford to send money to “all corners of the world.” The price of Trump’s wall is pocket change next to the foreign aid budgets Washington has treated as untouchable for decades. Even the most outlandish estimate of the wall’s costs pale in comparison to the money squandered on countries that hate us. Trump wanted $18 billion or so for the wall. America’s recent misadventures in the Middle East have cost around $6 trillion...  https://spectator.org/defending-borders-except-our-own/?utm_source=American+Spectator+Emails&utm_campaign=22c06835a6-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_04_11&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_797a38d487-22c06835a6-104608113

Zuckerberg and the Facebook Data Black Hole

Oj7tPh3LZtE_zRCydcCI6jMTUbK7jDpSQDHS-J578CqmXDyM84FuH3yj3kDOAgmZ4OKH18KOcVuwOD1cmHCkmWNM05f7tX3PjnV8TbURJDNpmDxU9XQ_4INyFxwMfFvTeckTa5JljvL4Uq-88Is9slAbt1FHFBmGf_obBuzAzGw=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=450by Thomas Gallatin:  On Tuesday, Facebook creator and CEO Mark Zuckerberg faced pointed questions in a Senate hearing prompted by the recent kerfuffle over Cambridge Analytica’s accessing of Facebook-generated user data. Senators on both sides of the aisle grilled Zuckerberg. A particularly revealing exchange that got right to the heart of the problem Congress should address — protecting Americans’ privacy rights — occurred between Zuckerberg and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL).
scum-Durbin: “Would you be comfortable sharing with us the name of the hotel you stayed in last night?”
Zuckerberg (taking a long pause): “Um, no.”
scum-Durbin: “If you messaged anybody this week, would you share with us the names of the people you’ve messaged?”
Zuckerberg: “I would probably not choose to do that publicly here.”
scum-Durbin: “I think that may be what this is all about. Your right to privacy. The limits of your right to privacy. And how much you give away in modern America in the name of ‘connecting people around the world.’ A question basically of what information Facebook’s collecting, who they’re sending it to, and whether they ever asked me, in advance, my permission to do that. Is that a fair thing for a user of Facebook to expect?”
Zuckerberg: “Yes, senator. I think everyone should have control over how their information is used.”

scum-Durbin deserves credit for not grandstanding about fake news, but focussing on the real issue — private data dissemination by social media aggregators.
AMark Alexander noted prior to the hearings, “Congress has the authority to enact, and should, legislation requiring social media and other aggregators of individual user data be required to obtain specific and explicit user permissions for each and everytransfer of such data, prior to that transfer. And the financial penalties for failing to do so should be steep.”
But Zuckerberg also faced other serious inquiries, most notably Facebook’s practice of suppressing conservative content, which their PC censors have done with Patriot Postcontent. Both Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Ben Sasse (R-NE) took the opportunity to grill Zuckerberg over the issue of censorship. Sasse suggested that Facebook’s policies are “less than First Amendment full-spirit embracing.” He also pressed Zuckerberg to define “hate speech,” which the tech guru could not do, after Zuckerberg had admitted it’s a category used by Facebook as a guideline for limiting speech. Sasse pointedly stated, “I’m worried about the psychological categories around speech. We see this happening on college campuses all across the country. It’s dangerous.”
Cruz also called out Zuckerberg over Facebook’s leftist bias, asking, “Do you consider yourself a neutral public forum or are you engaged in political speech, which is your right under the First Amendment?” Zuckerberg responded, “Well, senator, our goal is certainly not to engage in political speech.” But Cruz didn’t let him off the hook and followed up by listing multiple instances where conservative content was limited or censored. Zuckerberg then suggested he was unaware of the biased censoring of political content, but he did admit that Facebook’s location in Silicon Valley “is an extremely left-leaning place.” That’s putting it mildly.
There are two issues at play here; one deals with protecting Americans’ privacy rights, the other with free speech. Facebook plays fast and loose with users’ data. As Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) bluntly opined, “Here’s what everybody has been trying to tell you [Zuckerberg] today, and I say this gently: Your user agreement sucks!” Meanwhile, Zuckerberg and the Left would love to paint Facebook’s primary problem as one of needing help in preventing the dissemination of “fake news” and propaganda, not one of needing to better protect user data. What has made Facebook so profitable has been its ability to accumulate and then sell user data, and that’s why it’s the last thing Zuckerberg wants regulated. Instead, he would love for the focus to be on protecting Americans against the “dangerous” influence of propaganda — from conservatives, of course.   ~The Patriot Pos

liar-Clinton Ally clown-Schumer
Attacks Trump for Undermining 'Sacred' Rule of Law
{ rickwells.us } ~ Cockroach Chuck clown-Schumer took to the Senate floor to express his support for his fellow vermin, Robert Mueller... and the entire cabal that is leading the swamp-supported globalist coup of President Trump. As if it is some kind of a validation of integrity, clown-Schumer noted that the raid on President Trump’s personal attorney was signed off on by Deputy Attorney General Rod “Rodentstein” Rosenstein. The fact that it was an act committed with his endorsement in no way indicates it was proper of objective. In fact, it only serves to make it more suspect. He claims there’s a serious and high standard that had to be met, again overstating the objectivity of a New York judge and the US Attorney’s office in New York. That’s where the deep state former US attorney who was unexpectedly fired by President Trump, Preet Bharara, plied his trade as a staunch representative of the swamp and the corrupt political establishment. Take it easy on the sanctimony, Crying clown-Chuck... clown-Chuck you have no idea what the Rule of Law is. But you are a real jerk.  https://rickwells.us/clinton-schumer-trump-law/.

{ americanthinker.com } ~ If there was any doubt that Robert Mueller's Ahab-like goal is the unseating of President Trump at all costs and by any means... it was erased by the thuggish FBI raid he orchestrated on the home and office of Trump personal attorney Michael Cohen. Can't find any collusion between Trump and Russia? Hey, why not look for collusion between Cohen and professional whore and porn star Stormy Daniels?  Was she paid to go away with campaign funds? Even so, that's an FEC violation punishable by a fine and something that does not require a SWAT team. It certainly does not compare with money funneled by Team Hillary and the DNC though a law firm to Fusion GPS and British foreign agent Christopher Steele to put together a fake dossier on Trump using Russian sources.  But where were the raids on the offices of the DNC, the liar-Hillary Clinton campaign, and Fusion GPS? This is the FBI of Andrew McCabe, Lisa Page, and Peter Strzok, whose mission was to keep liar-Hillary Clinton out of prison and Donald Trump out of the White House. They never raided the home and office of Cheryl Mills, did they? They never raided liar-Hillary's house or seized the acid-washed server, did they? But Michael Cohen is a threat to our democracy warranting brute force? Why wasn't Michel Cohen offered the immunity deal given to Cheryl Mills and other liar-Clinton cronies?...   https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/04/guess_whose_house_wasnt_raided_by_the_fbi.html

But it took a former Secret Service agent to shine a light on the real truth about the action. According to The New York Times, Monday’s raid opens “a new front for the Justice Department in its scrutiny of Mr. Trump and his associates.” The first sentence of a CNN analysis declared “There could be dark and unprecedented times ahead.” But for Bongino, who served for more than a decade with the Secret Service during the George W. If you just look at what his original assignment was, it is a bust an absurdity. And instead they have gone off trying to find ways to create noise. But in terms of what he was originally asked to look into Robert Mueller has come up with a big fat zero and we ought to be honest about that. The president ought to relax, focus on on being president… The fact is that Rosenstein has not done his job. He has not supervised Mueller. This whole thing is an absurdity. We’ve now had, Paul Manafort and his wife, in their pajamas at 3 o’clock in the morning having the FBI break down the door. We’ve had this last week Cohen the lawyer had the door taken off the hinges at 6 in the morning. { jewishworldreview.com } ~ A missile strike on an air base in central Syria was carried out by Israeli warplanes in the early hours of Monday morning causing multiple casualties, according to the Syrian and Russian governments, amid fears of renewed regional confrontation.

Israeli officials did not immediately comment on the reports. The raid on the T4 airfield in Homs province comes as tensions rise over possible U.S. military action in Syria in response to a suspected chemical weapons attack on a Damascus suburb late Saturday.

U.S. officials to say they were weighing options to strike Syrian government targets and the Syria's state news agency initially blamed Monday's strike on the United States. It backtracked following Pentagon denials.

"At this time, the Department of Defense is not conducting airstrikes in Syria," the Pentagon said in a statement.

President Donald Trump had said Sunday that there would be a "big price to pay" for the attack that killed dozens of people in Douma outside Damascus, according to local medical personnel. Both Syria and Russia have denied the Syrian government's involvement in that attack.

A Syrian military source and the Russian Defense Ministry said Israeli fighter jets carried out Monday's strike from Lebanese airspace.

According to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, most of the 14 killed were either Iranian forces or Iran-backed proxies supporting the Syrian government.

Iran is a staunch ally of the Syrian government, and has deployed forces and assets inside Syria, including a network of pro-government fighters it uses as shock troops in battles with Syrian rebels.

Israel has grown increasingly alarmed as Iran and its Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah, extend their military reach and influence in the region, including an expanded presence near Israel's northern border.

In February, Israel confirmed that it had targeted the same airfield in Homs, after an Iranian drone entered Israeli airspace. Eight warplanes were used in that attack, Israel's military said, including one F-16 fighter jet that was downed by Syrian antiaircraft fire.

"The timing of the strike isn't coincidental," said Michael Horowitz, a senior analyst at Le Beck International, a Middle East-based geopolitical and security consultancy.

"By striking Syrian President Bashar Assad and his Iranian allies just a day after Trump warned them of the price they would pay ... Israel mitigates the risk of an Iranian response," he said. "Israel has been trying to convince Washington to adopt a more pro-active, anti-Iran strategy in Syria, and certainly sees Trump's rhetoric in the wake of the chemical attack as an opportunity."

Monday's strike also comes amid a reported deal to evacuate rebel fighters from Douma following Saturday's alleged chemical attack. The militants from Jaish al-Islam had been negotiating their exit with Russian representatives.

Russia's Tass news agency reported Sunday that 8,000 fighters would be allowed to leave Douma for other opposition-held areas in northern Syria.

Douma is one of the opposition's last strongholds near the capital, and had come under heavy bombardment by Syrian government and allied forces in recent weeks. According to the United Nations, more than 1,700 people have been killed since February in the Eastern Ghouta area.

On Saturday, Syrian doctors and rescue workers in Douma said that at least 40 people were killed in the apparent chemical attack.

More than 500 people "were brought to local medical centers with symptoms indicative of exposure to a chemical agent," according to the Syrian American Medical Society, a Washington-based nonprofit group that supports health facilities in the area.

Footage from the area showed bodies strewn across the floor of an air raid shelter. Among them was a young man who appeared to have died foaming at the mouth and clutching his child. Other images showed piles of bodies inside homes or slumped in concrete stairwells, foam visible on their noses and mouths.

"We tried to send people to the area to rescue the injured, but even the rescue workers began suffocating," said Mohamed Samer, a medical worker in Douma.

The images recalled earlier chemical weapons attacks on civilians in Syria, including those involving the nerve agent sarin. A year ago, nearly 100 people were killed in a strike on the northern town of Khan Sheikhoun that the United Nations has blamed on the Syrian air force.

In 2013, also in Eastern Ghouta, a sarin attack killed more than 1,000 people - an event that prompted then president Barack liar-nObama to threaten military action against the Syrian government.

{ rickwells.us } ~ Congressman Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is out of patience with the game playing DOJ and FBI leadership... ready to pull the trigger on contempt charges for their leadership, presumably AG Scumbag Jeff Sessions, Rod Rodentstein and Christopher Wray, at a minimum. It’s too bad they can’t include traitors Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell in with them. Dobbs notes that Charles Grassley, who lacks any kind of fire in his belly to defend President Trump from the onslaught and is overly “objective” to the point of being little more than a showy obstruction, “has been in the Senate approaching four decades, and he has confidence in Mueller? Are you kidding me? What in the world is this man thinking?” Careful Lou, you may be crediting Grassley too much cognitive ability with that question. Choosing to move to the substance of their conversation rather than attack Grassley, DeSantis notes that the FBI had Cheryl Mills, one of Crooked liar-Hillary’s top partners in crime, sitting in on the ‘interview’ which is a far cry from a pre-dawn raid. In that instance liar-Clinton was guilty of espionage and racketeering yet the FBI went to this length in prospecting for evidence of a campaign law violation...  https://rickwells.us/desantis-house-contempt-doj/.

The connections are as endless as the universe in both scope and gravity, and there is no doubt that something is very surely “up”. The real problem with heading into this conspiracy theory world is that information in this realm doesn’t flow like it does in our everyday lives. { news.usni.org } ~ Weaponized MQ-8B Fire Scouts are ready for deployment... they just need the Littoral Combat Ship program to reconfigure its weapon storage to squeeze in the ammunition, program officials said. The logistics problem follows a successful demonstration of Fire Scout to operate with weapons aboard a Littoral Combat Ship, said Capt. Jeff Dodge, the Navy’s Fire Scout program manager, during a presentation at Navy League’s Sea Air Space 2018 exposition. The Fire Scout is set to field BAE System’s advanced precision kill weapon system (APKWS), modified 70mm Hydra rockets fitted with a guidance system. “The weapons testing went great from the airframe standpoint,” Dodge said. “One of the issues with the advanced weapons systems is because it’s based on an unguided rocket, it’s designed to be built up in an armory and the LCS armory doesn’t have the space that you can build up.”...  https://news.usni.org/2018/04/10/weaponized-fire-scout-needs-space-littoral-combat-ship?utm_source=USNI+News&utm_campaign=d378ccc2a5-USNI_NEWS_DAILY&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_0dd4a1450b-d378ccc2a5-231491269&mc_cid=d378ccc2a5&mc_eid=3999f18767

At a time when the news was plastered with stories about Russia, these officials saw more serious national security threats. Ahead of Russia, they named North Korea which was rapidly developing missiles that it could arm with nukes and reach the U.S., Iran the world’s most active state sponsor of terrorism, which would undoubtedly use some of the billions released under the liar-nObama administration to continue funding anti-Western militant groups and China for its confrontational actions in the China Sea, its history of interfering in U.S. elections and its growing economic aggression. Nothing to Fear From Refugees?

nDenzpT3936azUfIoGKG-NMK7knNbt9UwwrtU_llR3TuUb6EoFrPcysXFELTU-EvhiXoQltgRLchHzfnpp7EqFJnzlHdK5WU0TYkcU8BZHNRHUd8jET5rtG2WfzOIPvfolGwRpvns6PiKTDEvshA7YdsqZQPuwwh4oxGw0AOc8M=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=450by Lewis Morris:  America is a beacon of freedom to the world, particularly for people from nations looking to escape political or religious persecution, war or economic upheaval. The U.S., as a rule, grants asylum to these refugees based on the seriousness of their claims and whether they could suffer harm if they are returned to their native land. And Americans take pride in being a place where the oppressed of other lands can seek asylum and establish a new life. But how many people, and from which lands, can we take in? And how can we tell if the system is being abused?

Since taking office, President Donald Trump has taken the issue of refugees very seriously. One of his first acts was to issue a ban on accepting people from seven nations that have a proven history of terrorist activity and anti-American sentiments. The Left went nuts, sending protesters to the streets and flooding the airwaves with screeds about how Trump was anti-Muslim. They conveniently left out certain details about the ban being temporary, how it was specifically targeted to countries from which terrorists are trying to infiltrate the U.S., and the fact that it is the purview of the president to engage in such actions in the interest of national security.
The Supreme Court sided with Trump on that basis, but as his orders routinely get updated to add or remove certain nations from the travel ban list, a new round of court challenges takes place. This keeps the issue in the news, but brings us no closer to settling the issue of what to do with the flood of refugees seeking asylum or how to handle those already in the United States.
A recent study by the leftist Urban Institute suggests that we have nothing to fear from the refugees already in the U.S. Through analysis of census and refugee survey data, the report claims that refugees largely integrate into all aspects of American life, learning English, buying homes, and starting their own businesses. According to the report, the longer refugees stay in America, the more American they become.
This all sounds great, but a deeper dive into the study reveals that it is based on an aggregate view of all refugees. It does not look at refugees from specific cultures or countries. Therefore, it does not help us understand how refugees from certain Islamic countries are faring in the U.S., or whether they are assimilating or contributing positively to the American ideal. Europe is experiencing major issues with Islamic refugees who blatantly refuse to assimilate. Even leftist European leaders are starting to admit there’s a migrant problem. It is only common sense that America be aware of this and act to prevent the same problem here.
In a sense, Urban’s study is rather worthless when it comes to addressing which refugees we should accept and which ones must either be kept under tight surveillance or turned away outright. It serves as good fodder for the anti-Trump Leftmedia to paint him as a bully while portraying the illegals as saints. Most probably are, but it’s the ones who aren’t that we should be worried about.
A different analysis on refugees indicates that not every person who comes to America seeking asylum is worthy of protected status. While the number of refugees seeking asylum in the U.S. has risen across all countries of origin in recent years, asylum claims have risen dramatically from Latin American countries.
Traditionally, a very low number of asylum seekers from Central American and Mexico are granted asylum in the U.S. However, migrants from these countries have been more willing to seek asylum status. The recent so-called caravan that was turned back after Trump deployed troops to meet them at the border was a perfect example of this. Over a thousand migrants made plain their intention to come to the U.S. illegally and claim asylum once they were caught. This would put them in a whole different bucket than traditional illegal immigrants. They could stay in this country indefinitely until their case is heard in the courts — courts that are already severely backlogged.
The sharp uptick in potential asylum cases from Latin America suggests that illegal immigrants have grown wise to how the U.S refugee system works. Their attempt to game the system clogs the courts and keeps legitimate cases from being heard. It also allows these fake refugees an opportunity to stay in the country illegally, abusing America’s good will for their own short-term gain. And the more that good will is abused, the less likely Americans are willing to help any refugees.
There is no short answer to relieving the courts of the backlog of refugee cases to be heard. And there may be no way to know for certain which groups of refugees will be a net gain for the country. But there is a surefire solution to stopping illegal immigrants from coming into the country and claiming false asylum. Build the wall and tighten border security. After that, all the other problems will become easier to solve.   ~The Patriot Pos

{ rickwells.us } ~ With it becoming increasingly difficult for the filthy traitor AG Jeff Sessions to come up with more excuses for hiding documents from Congres... he went back to the obstructionist’s handbook and applied another filter. Sessions appointed US Attorney John Lausch of Chicago to “oversee document production” to the House Judiciary Committee. Now the sleazy Sessions can claim that he’s taken the extra measure of designating someone to manage the release, buying himself some more time as nothing happens. What he has done is to erect another layer of insulation between the corrupt DOJ and the American people through Congress. It’s just another stunt to keep their crimes hidden. Congressmen Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Mark Meadows (R-NC) aren’t fooled by the Sessions charade. Asked by Brian Kilmeade if the appointment makes them “feel better about the process,” Jordan answers, “No, it doesn’t. Referring to a statement by someone involved with the release about getting the redactions right, he asks, “How about this, how about just giving the information to us in an unredacted form?”...What are you doing Session, just select a 2nd special counsel.  https://rickwells.us/meadows-jordan-sessions-doj/.

{ dailycaller.com } ~ Sen. Ted Cruz clearly rattled Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg Tuesday... by grilling him about Facebook’s well-documented censorship of conservatives. Zuckerberg had a relatively easy time facing questioning during his Tuesday testimony in front of the Senate Judiciary and Commerce Committees until Cruz took over the helm. Cruz noted the number of examples of Facebook censoring conservatives, including labeling conservative commentators Diamond and Silk as “unsafe,” hiding stories about the IRS targeting conservatives and blocking over two dozen Catholic pages. “To a great many Americans, that appears to be a pervasive pattern of political bias,” Cruz said. “Do you agree with that assessment?” Zuckerberg admitted that Facebook’s location in the highly-liberal Silicon Valley could concern conservative users, but assured Cruz that the platform tries to be unbiased...

{ conservativetribune.com } ~ Former President Barack liar-nObama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program created something of a legal limbo for a select class of illegal immigrants... shielding them from deportation without granting them legal status. Now, some of the program’s enrollees could quite literally be paying for that uncertainty. According to The Washington Times, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled unanimously Monday that DACA recipients, also known as “dreamers,” are not eligible for the in-state tuition rates that some state colleges and universities were offering them, and instead will have to pay out-of-state rates. That 7-0 decision upheld an earlier 3-0 state court of appeals ruling against the Maricopa Community Colleges, who had decided on their own volition to extend in-state tuition rates to DACA recipients. The ruling applies to all state colleges and public universities in Arizona...  ttps://conservativetribune.com/az-supreme-court-hits-dreamers/?utm_source=Email&utm_medium=CTBreaking&utm_campaign=breaking&utm_content=conservative-tribune.

{ theblaze.com } ~ More than a dozen United States servicemen have died in six separate aviation accidents over the past three weeks... Seven died just last week. The accidents are becoming more commonplace, and according to a new study from the Military Times, there’s a reason for that: Defense budget cuts that came under former President Barack liar-nObama’s command. The study concluded that from 2013 to 2017, military aviation accidents rose 40 percent while doubling for Navy and Marine F/A-18 pilots, the Times reported. The accidents resulted in the deaths of 133 military personnel. And, according to the Times, the accidents and deaths are directly tied to “massive” defense budget cuts in 2013. Making matters worse are “non-stop” deployments, reductions in pilot training time and an “exodus” of flight service crews...   https://www.theblaze.com/news/2018/04/10/disturbing-new-study-finds-connection-between-obama-era-defense-cuts-and-military-aviation-accidents

No Easy Solution in Syria

aID83B_EmgLVMFem2VQaj2M8FLKpKPKD4rrHh2QE3AGRZeT3Y1B9Y_FKriHWcjZbuwMqskqzoWoX-O3zmDXYLejVKO0wPzr3hm2rjad363mDSA3H6aGf-XifsLbbFpxpLIy__HQEo070khv51u6VSn95N8Jc32xmGJHwFWOz9e4=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=450y Todd Johnson:  It seems to be déjà vu all over again for Secretary of Defense James Mattis and the Joint Chiefs of Staff as they are once again fine-tuning military options for President Donald Trump as he determines what type of military action he wants to conduct against Bashar al-Assad’s Syrian government, which allegedly launched another chlorine attack against its people this past Sunday. The brazen attack, which claimed at least 70 victims, including numerous children, is just the latest atrocity conducted by the Assad government.

It was only a year ago that Trump ordered a Tomahawk missile strike on April 6, 2017, at the Al Shayrat airfield in retaliation over Assad’s chemical attack against his own people at the town of Khan Shaykhun — an attack that killed more than 80 people.
Following that U.S. aerial attack, President Trump said, “It is in this vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons.” Sadly, the U.S. attack did nothing to deter Assad’s blood-thirst, and now Trump finds himself in the same position that he was in last year.
Unfortunately for the commander-in-chief, the geopolitical situation this year is arguably much more complicated. Both the Russian and Iranian governments asserted that the international community’s calls for action against Assad were unwarranted, and both nations have been vociferous in their defense of the embattled Syrian regime.
Meanwhile, CNS News reports, “Syria’s Assad regime is set to assume the chair of a United Nations forum whose agenda includes an end to weapons of mass destruction, at a time when it is accused of using them against civilians in Syria.” Only at the UN
Complicating the delicate situation even more is that on Monday, Israel appeared to launch a predawn airstrike against Iranian-backed militias at a Syrian air base, thus ratcheting up the tensions between these two Middle Eastern powers. It’s an open secret that Iran and Israel are engaged in kinetic operations against one another in Syria and are actively looking for opportunities to take the fight to one another.
It is against this tenuous strategic backdrop that Trump and his national security team are having to make some tough decisions about U.S. foreign policy toward Syria and the region as a whole. That is why Trump’s pronouncement last week that the United States will soon pull all 2,000 troops out of Syria is such a potentially damaging move for our nation and our allies in the Levant.
A look at the facts shows that the United States’ current fight against the Islamic State in Syria is not complete, notwithstanding the success of that same fight in Iraq. Recent reporting shows that one last ISIS stronghold in eastern Syria is on the verge of collapse and that the military mission of training Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) is going well. Any move to pull resources at this critical juncture has the potential to eliminate gains that have been made over the last year.
More importantly, a precipitous exit sends a message to Iran that the United States isn’t dedicated to fulfilling its foreign policy goals, either in the short term or the long. Iran continues to pour a massive amount of personnel and munitions into Syria, as Tehran views the fight as an ongoing campaign to not only prop up the beleaguered Assad government but spread Iranian influence. The mullahs are hoping that Trump does pull troops out as it enables them to spread their tentacles of influence even more. That is why the U.S. can’t cede the region to Iranian proxies.
As national security expert Matthew RJ Brodsky writes, “Maintaining a military presence in Syria provides the U.S. opportunities to prevent the peaceful imposition of an Iranian post-war order on the country, and to disrupt Iran's logistical lines, including the land corridors it uses for moving arms and personnel.
Barack liar-nObama made a massive error in judgement when he pulled troops out of Iraq in 2011. It not only created the space for ISIS to metastasize throughout the area, it allowed Iran to strengthen its influence in the country as well. liar-nObama’s team also promised to rid Syria of chemical weapons, and then crowed — repeatedly — about its supposed success. Look where we are now.
President Trump should learn from that mistake and pledge to keep a small footprint of troops and resources in Syria until the fighting is done and post-conflict transition is complete. A failure to do this will only embolden Assad to conduct more chemical attacks on his people and allow more innocent people to die.

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ President Trump believes he has the authority to remove special counsel Robert Mueller... White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Tuesday, although she declined to specify whether Trump plans to exercise that authority. "I know a number of individuals in the legal community, and including at the Department of Justice, said he has the power to do so, but I don't have any further announcements," Sanders told reporters at the White House. "We've been advised that the president certainly has the power to make that decision," she added. "I can't go anything beyond that." The tragedy of Syria is largely rooted in two decisions made by Trump’s predecessor, Barack liar-nObama. The first was a refusal to act on his own declared red line for military action in response to the use of chemical weapons, which invited Russia and Iran to dominate the region. The second was liar-nObama’s decision to waive US sanctions on the Central Bank of Iran, which gave the Islamic Republic hundreds of billions of dollars to bolster the Assad regime both financially and militarily. Trump now has an opportunity to reverse both mistakes. Democrat Rails Against ICE

{ totalconservative.com } ~ A Democrat congresswoman who recently said that adding a citizenship question to the census was an attempt to “make America white again”... is in the news today for coming to the defense of a 15x-arrested illegal immigrant who has been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. That, to Democrats, is a violation of trust with the illegal immigrant community – a trust that is apparently important…for some reason. “Extremely concerning to hear that ICE agents targeted an undocumented immigrant just outside Brooklyn Criminal Court this morning,” Rep. Opinion in Brief

Michelle Malkin: “While congresscritters expressed outrage at Facebook’s intrusive data grabs during Capitol Hill hearings with Mark Zuckerberg this week, not a peep was heard about the Silicon Valley-Beltway theft ring purloining the personal information and browsing habits of millions of American schoolchildren. It doesn’t take undercover investigative journalists to unmask the massive privacy invasion enabled by educational technology and federal mandates. The kiddie data heist is happening out in the open — with Washington politicians and bureaucrats as brazen co-conspirators. Facebook is just one of the tech giants partnering with the U.S. Department of Education and schools nationwide in pursuit of student data for meddling and profit. Google, Apple, Microsoft, Pearson, Knewton, and many more are cashing in on the Big Data boondoggle. State and federal educational databases provide countless opportunities for private companies exploiting public schoolchildren subjected to annual assessments, which exploded after adoption of the tech industry-supported Common Core ‘standards,’ tests, and aligned texts and curricula. The recently passed Every Student Succeeds Act further enshrined government collection of personally identifiable information … and allows release of the data to third-party contractors thanks to Obama-era loopholes carved into the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act.”   ~The Patriot Post

Mueller Goes After Trump's Attorney

4ooQ0ATqLg703b4fgDjO9yq1yGZu9Szr2pb81s2I5ACCNhBe_CpodiW4BgFPgoKPlBJ50JcHZdIYq9sHToX-jyDF4ltRDRpR5rgqlDLDC3El-b_MBly9Nlz9Lep9ev865sfyOMmBF_33bXfrAomvQZrwuh3DumyaaBa4cM3S29g=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=450by Thomas Gallatin:  On Monday, the FBI conducted no-knock raids on the office and home of President Donald Trump’s longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen, taking his phone, computer and personal financial records. The Washington Post reported that Cohen “is under federal investigation for possible bank fraud, wire fraud, and campaign finance violations,” and that this raid is directly tied to special counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing investigation — though Mueller did refer it to the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Upon learning of the raid, a clearly frustrated Trump responded by calling it “a disgrace.” He added, “I have this witch hunt constantly going on for over 12 months now or longer. It’s an attack on our country in a true sense; it’s an attack on what we all stand for.” Trump then reiterated that he has been repeatedly urged to fire Mueller and end the investigation.
Cohen’s lawyer, Stephen Ryan, called the FBI’s raid tactics “inappropriate and unnecessary,” pointing out that Cohen has “cooperated completely with all government entities, including providing thousands of non-privileged documents to the Congress and sitting for depositions under oath.”
Cohen has long been a subject/target of the Mueller investigation because of his close working relationship with Trump over the years. When the story broke about Trump’s alleged 2006 affair with adult-film actress Stormy Daniels and a subsequent large payment of hush money, Cohen defended Trump, claiming that Trump had no knowledge of the payment, which Cohen had paid out of his own pocket, and that he was not reimbursed by Trump. And last week Trump backed up this claim, saying he had no knowledge of a payment to Daniels. Cohen further explained, “The payment to [Stephanie] Clifford [a.k.a. Daniels] was lawful, and was not a campaign contribution or a campaign expenditure by anyone.
Alan Dershowitz, a liberal Harvard Law professor, reacted to the news, saying, “This is a very dangerous day today for lawyer-client relations.” He explained, “I tell [clients] on my word of honor that what you tell me is sacrosanct. And now they say, just based on probable cause … they can burst into the office, grab all the computers and then give it to another FBI agent and say, ‘You’re the firewall. We want you now to read all these confidential communications, tell us which ones we can get and which ones we can’t get.’” Dershowitz astutely noted, “If this were liar-Hillary Clinton being investigated and they went into her lawyer’s office, the ACLU would be on every television station in America, jumping up and down. The deafening silence from the ACLU and civil libertarians about the intrusion into the lawyer-client confidentiality is really appalling.” There is, of course, a big exception to attorney-client privilege when it comes to crime, but this instance is murky.
Indeed, as Jonah Goldberg observes, “The fact that U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman agreed with Mueller’s interpretation and sought a warrant from a judge and that the judge agreed to grant one suggests that Cohen is in trouble.
Once again it appears that Mueller is hard at work seeking a serious charge of campaign-finance violation against Trump. So much for the Russian collusion gambit, but as we have repeatedly warned, these special investigations are given such broad authority and power to investigate that they rarely actually bring charges based on their initial impetus. And yet they rarely come up empty-handed either. Trump’s low moral character only makes that more likely.   ~The Patriot Pos

{ rickwells.us } ~ Alan Dershowitz says, “This is a very dangerous day today for lawyer-client relations” in the wake of the latest overreaching stunt by witch hunter Robert Mueller... the raid on the office, home and a hotel room of Trump’s Attorney, Michael Cohen. He dissects the action, saying, “I think actually this does show us something significant about the investigation. I do think a decision has been made from the very top Hussein liar-nObama?, that the Mueller ‘investigation’ is going to stick to Russia collusion, the campaign, obstruction of justice.” Dershowitz continues, “And anything else relating to Trump’s business dealings, any alleged relationships or payments to women, will be given over to the Southern District of New York. { frontpagemag.com } ~ President Trump condemned a suspected chemical weapons attack over the weekend on the rebel-held Damascus suburb of Douma... that reportedly took the lives of more than forty people, including children. The president blamed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime for unleashing what appears to have been deadly chlorine gas. "This is about humanity -- it can't be allowed to happen," the president said. “If it’s Russia, if it’s Syria, if it’s Iran, if it’s all of them together, we’ll figure it out.” Referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin, President Trump warned: “Everybody’s going to pay a price — he will, everybody will.” The president said Monday evening that he was receiving more definitive information on what had happened, that he had a lot of military options on the table and that he would respond “forcefully.” For their part, the Syrian regime and Russia denied that any such chemical attack had even taken place. Putin warned against any "provocation and speculation on this matter." Syrian forces, backed by the Russian military and Iranian militias, have been mounting an offensive to retake several towns that have been rebel-occupied, including Douma, in a region known as Eastern Ghouta. They have surrounded and bombarded the area, cutting it off from vital humanitarian aid. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, more than 1600 people have died as a result and tens of thousands of people have fled. The alleged chemical attack in Douma, said to be the last remaining town in the region still in rebel hands, appeared to have come from one or more Syrian government aircraft. The alleged chemical attack would fit into the Syrian regime's larger pattern of exerting maximum pressure on the civilian population of rebel-held areas to the point of forcing a surrender...  https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/269840/trump-readies-forceful-response-syria-joseph-klein

Mark Levin Bashes Mueller: He’s a “Rogue Prosecutor”

{ patriotnewsdaily.com } ~ Conservative writer and radio host Mark Levin isn’t afraid to part ways with President Trump when he senses The Donald is straying from what’s best for the country... but he is certainly no fan of the anti-Trump forces within the government who are looking to overthrow the 2016 election. In an interview with Sean Hannity on Thursday, Levin said that Trump should not sit down for a one-on-one talk with Special Counsel Robert Mueller as the former FBI Director is on a witch hunt and should not be trusted to stay within the boundaries of his assignment. “When he got his appointment, the deputy attorney general did not provide any basis for the appointment,” Levin said. “That is, he didn’t say – these are the criminal statues I want you to investigate – because there aren’t any.” Levin said that the entire idea that President Trump was in legal danger was a farce, because there was no prosecutorial precedent of a president being brought under indictment while still in the White House. He said that was still the official position of the Justice Department and had been for years. Levin said this fact made it impossible for President Trump to be an official “target” of the probe, which Mueller has already admitted that he is not... http://patriotnewsdaily.com/mark-levin-bashes-mueller-hes-a-rogue-prosecutor/

by Caroline Glick
{ frontpagemag.com } ~ Have we entered a new period of sweetness and light with our Arab neighbors? On Monday The Atlantic published an interview the magazine’s editor Jeffrey Goldberg conducted with Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman.

Hours after its publication, the responses began pouring in.

The basic line, repeated by all major newspapers, is that the Saudi crown prince recognized Israel’s right to exist. Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt gushed about it on his Twitter feed.

Referring to the interview as “amazing,” Greenblatt wrote that “all should watch [Muhammad bin Salman].

He is far from perfect [and] there is a long road ahead, but in a region long dominated by hateful despots, the prince envisions a very different future for Muslims, Jews, Christians and all in the Middle East.”

Other commentators were even more exhilarated.

Are the prince’s fans correct? Is his ascendance to the Saudi crown the harbinger of a reformation of Islam and the beginning of a new era in Islamic relations with the Jews and the world as a whole? Not really.

Most of the reports on the interview have focused on the prince’s remarks in which he ostensibly recognized Israel’s right to exist. But did he actually recognize Israel’s right to exist? Did he distinguish himself from all the other Arab leaders who to date have recognized that Israel exists but not admitted it has a right to exist? Let’s check the text.

Goldberg asked the prince, “Do you believe the Jewish people have a right to a nation-state in at least part of their ancestral homeland?” Muhammad replied, “I believe that each people, anywhere, has a right to live in their peaceful nation. I believe the Palestinians and the Israelis have the right to have their own land. But we have to have a peace agreement to assure the stability for everyone and to have normal relations.”

Does this mean that he recognized Israel’s right to exist in the Land of Israel? Maybe. Maybe not.

Where is the Israelis’ “own land”? In Jerusalem? In New York? Goldberg tried to find out. He asked, “You have no religious-based objection to the existence of Israel?” Muhammad responded, “We have religious concerns about the fate of the holy mosque in Jerusalem and about the rights of the Palestinian people. This is what we have. We don’t have any objection against any other people.”

In other words, it certainly appears that the prince has a religious-based objection to the existence of Israel.

Sort of.

As Dr. Harold Rhode, a recently retired adviser on Islamic Affairs in the Office of the US Secretary of Defense explains, during much of his conversation with Goldberg, Muhammad engaged in the Islamic practice of “taqiyya,” or dissimulation for the benefit of Islam. According to the Koran, Muslims are permitted to lie about Islam to advance the faith.

This conclusion is easily reached when considering his responses to other questions, which like his answer regarding Israel, were deliberately imprecise. Goldberg asked Muhammad simple direct questions and he responded with answers that were either misleading or open to multiple interpretations.

Consider their discussion of Wahhabism. Since Saudi Arabia was established 85 years ago, it has been governed under Wahhabist Islam. Wahhabism, a school of Islam founded in the 18th century by the radical Islamic scholar Ibn Abdel el-Wahhab, views itself as the only legitimate version of Islam. Wahhabism calls for the abrogation of all novel interpretations of Islam. It aspires to Islamic global dominion. And upholds jihad.

Since at least 1979, the Saudis have invested billions of petro-dollars in spreading Wahhabist Islam throughout the world.

But when Goldberg asked Muhammad about those petro dollars, the crown prince acted like he didn’t know what Goldberg was talking about.

“This Wahhabism, please define it for us. We’re not familiar with it. We don’t know about it,” Muhammad said innocently.

Goldberg responded with amazement, “What do you mean you don’t know about it?” Unmoved, he responded, “What is Wahhabism?” Goldberg replied, “You’re the crown prince of Saudi Arabia. You know what Wahhabism is.”

Muhammad countered, “No one can define this Wahhabism.”

He then proceeded to deny any connection with the creed of Saudi Arabia while boldly and entirely dishonestly presenting the kingdom as a paragon of religious tolerance where all forms of Islam, including Shi’ite Islam, are treated equally.

Another statement from Muhammad that generated significant interest was his claim that there is no Islamic religious duty to propagate Islam in the non-Islamic world today.

In his words, “Today in non-Muslim countries, every human being has the right to choose his or her belief.

Religious books can be bought in every country. The message is delivered. Now it is no longer a duty for us to fight for the propagation of Islam.”

While Muhammad’s statement is refreshingly straightforward, its meaning is less so. He made his statement as a way of arguing that the calls for jihad and the establishment of a caliphate by the Muslim Brotherhood are un-Islamic.

Certainly, it would be significant if the Saudis stopped funding the radical mosques they founded worldwide.

It would be even more significant if he said that his regime is ordering the mosques the Saudis established throughout the world to preach peaceful coexistence with the non-Islamic world and to reject jihad. But he said nothing of the sort.

Moreover, it is hard to take his claims seriously since he then went on to deny any familiarity with Wahhabism, the creed that has ruled his kingdom for four generations.

Perhaps Muhammad’s most creative mendacity came in his remarks regarding the status of women in his kingdom.

Goldberg began, “Do you believe in women’s equality?” The prince responded shrewdly, “I support Saudi Arabia, and half of Saudi Arabia is women. So I support women.”

Goldberg asked the prince if he intends to abrogate the so called “guardianship laws,” which prohibit women from leaving their homes without a male relative accompanying them.

“We want to move on it and figure out a way to treat this that doesn’t harm families and doesn’t harm the culture,” he replied In other words: Absolutely not.

So it went over and over again throughout the interview.

In short, Muhammad said nothing revolutionary.

He bore no glad tidings of a strategic shift in the Saudi Islam or in the manner that the Saudis relate to the world, including the Jews.

Which brings us back to the main question. What did we learn from this interview? The most significant thing that came out of the interview is that Saudi Arabia’s crown prince is very keen to cooperate with the US and with Israel in everything related to defeating what he refers to as the “triangle of evil.”

The three sides of his triangle are Iran, the Muslim Brotherhood, and the terrorist groups the Muslim Brotherhood has spawned, including al-Qaeda and Islamic State.

As far as Iran is concerned, Rhode explains that the primary enemy of the Khomeinist revolution was not the US or Israel.

“Khomeini exploited pan-Islamic hatred for Israel and the US to win legitimacy from the Sunni Muslim world which he and his successors aspire to lead, alongside the Shi’ite Muslim world.”

“For them,” Rhode continues, “hatred of ‘the little Satan’ and ‘the great Satan’ is a means to achieve their true goal of destroying Saudi Arabia and every other Sunni regime and dominating the entire Islamic world.”

As far as the Muslim Brotherhood and its terrorist offshoots are concerned, following the so-called Arab Spring, the Saudis recognized that the Muslim Brotherhood is the only actor in the Sunni Arab world capable of overthrowing their regime.

In other interviews, Muhammad has listed Turkey’s neo-Ottoman leader, President Recep Erdogan, as the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood. As such, Muhammad considers Erdogan an enemy no less than Iran.

Given Turkish behavior in the region and globally, there is every reason to agree with his assessment.

Whatever the case, Muhammad’s interview with Goldberg provides further proof – if any was needed – that the Saudi crown prince is very eager to receive American and Israeli cooperation in his bid to defeat the “triangle of evil.”

To be sure, it is fantastic that the Saudi leader wishes to cooperate with Israel in defeating our common foes.

But Rhode warns that we need to take his commitment to tactical cooperation with Israel with a grain of salt.

It isn’t that Muhammad is insincere, Rhode says.

The problem is that Muhammad’s regime is built on shaky foundations. Muhammad instigated a blood feud with powerful forces within his family when he carried out a string of arrests last year. Among those arrested were several prominent princes.

Rhode explains that the Saudi ruling clan divvied up the organs of government among branches of the family. For instance, one branch controls the Defense Ministry, another controls the Education Ministry, and so on down the line.

“In the Islamic world, humiliation is worse than death,” Rhode notes.

“When Muhammad arrested the other princes, he humiliated them,” Rhode says.

“And they will never forgive him. They will wait for the day they can exact revenge for their humiliation even if it only comes when their great-grandchildren have succeeded them.”

Under these conditions, there is a significant danger that Muhammad will sabotaged by forces within his own extended family. Israel must take this danger into consideration with every step it takes in Muhammad’s direction. Even if Muhammad acts in good faith, there is reason to suspect those around him will use his cooperation with Israel to harm him – and Israel.

Does this man that Israel should keep Muhammad at arm’s length? Of course it doesn’t. But it does mean that Israel mustn’t assume that since he holds absolute power, his power is unchallenged.

As to the great promise Muhammad embodies or doesn’t embody, here the situation is cut and dry.

Prince Muhammad is obviously a partner in everything relating to fighting Iran and the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas. But given the tactical nature of his commitment to Israel, and the absence of any indication that he intends to reform Islam in any significant way, Israel has no interest in making any concessions to him in exchange for its relations with him. The Saudis will not take their tactical alliance with Israel out of the admittedly see-through, proverbial closet.

For now, we have a Saudi ally in the young crown prince. So long as no one in Israel loses his head, and no one in Saudi Arabia exploits the alliance to chop off Muhammad’s head, we will be able to work together to achieve common goals. That is a glad tiding, even if it doesn’t include signing ceremonies with doves and balloons.

{ nytimes.com } ~ In early December, President Trump, furious over news reports about a new round of subpoenas from the office of the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III... told advisers in no uncertain terms that Mr. Mueller’s investigation had to be shut down. The president’s anger was fueled by reports that the subpoenas were for obtaining information about his business dealings with Deutsche Bank, according to interviews with eight White House officials, people close to the president and others familiar with the episode. To Mr. Trump, the subpoenas suggested that Mr. Mueller had expanded the investigation in a way that crossed the “red line” he had set last year in an interview with The New York Times. Mr. Trump’s quick conclusion that the erroneous news reports warranted firing Mr. Mueller is also an insight into Mr. Trump’s state of mind about the special counsel. Despite assurances from leading Republicans like Speaker Paul D. Ryan that the president has not thought about firing Mr. Mueller, the December episode was the second time Mr. Trump is now known to have considered taking that step. { townhall.com } ~ Attorney General Jeff Sessions contacted U.S. Attorneys in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas Friday and directed them to take a zero tolerance approach against individuals who enter the United States illegally.

“The situation at our Southwest Border is unacceptable. Congress has failed to pass effective legislation that serves the national interest—that closes dangerous loopholes and fully funds a wall along our southern border. As a result, a crisis has erupted at our Southwest Border that necessitates an escalated effort to prosecute those who choose to illegally cross our border,”Sessions released in a statement. “To those who wish to challenge the Trump Administration’s commitment to public safety, national security, and the rule of law, I warn you: illegally entering this country will not be rewarded, but will instead be met with the full prosecutorial powers of the Department of Justice. To the Department’s prosecutors, I urge you: promoting and enforcing the rule of law is vital to protecting a nation, its borders, and its citizens. You play a critical part in fulfilling these goals, and I thank you for your continued efforts in seeing to it that our laws—and as a result, our nation—are respected.”

The announcement and directive comes just two days after President Trump ordered the deployment of the National Guard to the southern border with Mexico. According to the White House, 2000-4000 troops will be sent until the border wall is completed. Based on recommendations from local governors and Border Patrol agents, additional guards could be deployed if extra resources are necessary.

Earlier this week, the Department of Justice also announced new grading measures and quota requirements for immigration judges in order to clear the extensive backlog of pending cases.

In March, Border Patrol agents saw an increase in illegal crossings of 200 percent after 50,000 illegal aliens made their way into the United States.

{ rickwells.us } ~ President Trump comments regarding the latest and most egregious overreach by Grand Inquisitor Mueller... the raid on his personal attorney’s office by accomplices of his in the Southern District of New York. His portion begins at approximately the 3:05 mark of the video.  Notified of the raid during a national security meeting, President Trump addressed the issue from the cabinet room. An obviously incensed Trump said, “I just heard that they broke into the office of one of my personal attorneys, good man, and it’s a disgraceful situation. It’s a total witch hunt, I’ve been saying it for a long time. I’ve wanted to keep it down, we’ve given, I believe over a million pages worth of documents to the special counsel.” Trump says, “They continue to just go forward and here we are talking about Syria, we’re talking about a lot of serious things with the greatest fighting force ever, and I have this witch hunt constantly going on for over twelve months now and actually much more than that. You could say it was right after I won the nomination it started. And it’s a grace, it’s frankly a real disgrace. It’s an attack on our country in a true sense.”...  https://rickwells.us/trump-fire-sessions-mueller/.

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ The U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York has recused himself from the investigation into the lawyer for President Trump... Geoffrey Berman is the interim attorney for the district, and was appointed by Attorney General Jeff Sessions in January after personally meeting in 2017. The FBI raid was signed off on by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversees special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. The Washington Post reported Monday Cohen is under federal investigation for possible bank fraud, wire fraud, and campaign finance violations. Rosenstein is the only person with constitutional authority to fire Mueller, and must approve matters that fall inside his jurisdiction. Mueller must also follow Justice Department regulations and consult with Rosenstein about how to handle matters outside his jurisdiction...

What The Hell Is Mueller Thinking?

{ lidblog.com } ~ The Mueller investigation is now officially out of control!... The Russian investigation reached an entirely new level of stupid. The FBI raided the home, office and hotel room of the President’s personal attorney Michael Cohen. And according to Cohen’s Attorney Stephen Ryan,  the action was “completely inappropriate and unnecessary.” “It resulted in the unnecessary seizure of protected attorney-client communications between a lawyer and his clients,” Ryan said. “These government tactics are also wrong because Mr. Cohen has cooperated completely with all government entities, including providing thousands of non-privileged documents to the Congress and sitting for depositions under oath.” Cohen has been the President’s attorney for a long time, he is very close to President Trump who is Cohen’s only client...

Should Congress Impose Direct Rule over Puerto Rico?

{ americanthinker.com } ~ For the past few weeks, Puerto Rico has been subjected to a multitude of actions by our political class and the oversight board related to the handling of our current debt... and fiscal crisis that would make left-wingers such as Nicolás Maduro proud. The actions being undertaken are a response to the current policy clash between the government of Ricardo Rossello and the Fiscal and Oversight Management Board about the host of fiscal plans to be adopted by the commonwealth. As the island heads to its next fiscal year, and the island is still recovering from the disaster of Hurricane Maria, the actions undertaken raise an important question. Does the obvious problem in governance in the commonwealth require an extreme action like repealing Law 600 and Congress imposing direct rule? The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico currently is indirectly ruled by Congress. The 114th Congress approved the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act, better known as PROMESA, which imposed an unelected seven-member panel to oversee the adoption of a fiscal plan that returns the government of Puerto Rico to fiscal health. However, the vision of PROMESA acting as the legal remedy for the crisis has been dampened by events – delays in adopting a credible and reliable fiscal plan, the continued legal fights in the courts, and the aftermath of Hurricane Maria...

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ The Syrian government's chemical attack on civilians in the rebel-held suburb of Douma this weekend is the complete responsibility of the war criminal Bashar Assad... his Russian bedfellows, and his Iranian bankers. However, the fact that President Trump had announced that the U.S. is nearly finished its mission to defeat ISIS which is questionable and wants to leave Syria quickly may have encouraged the others to speed up their efforts to divide Syria's corpse. An independent country for only two years longer than the State of Israel, Syria has reverted to its prior status as space across which the competing interests of bigger empires and armies are played out. President Trump claims to be uninterested in who rules Damascus -- which is wise of him -- but the aggressive partition of Syrian territory by Russia, Iran, Turkey and ISIS has security implications for the United States and our regional allies that cannot be ignored...

{ townhall.com } ~ Planning for a show-down, a column of 1,500 Central Americans, largely from Honduras, has been beating a path to the Mexican-American border.

Some report that the column has been halted; others dispute that. Interviewed by Reuters in Mexico, a sojourning mother of seven—what are the chances none is an MS13 gangster?—signaled her intention to proceed to the US, if only to teach President Trump a lesson.

Yes, “Make America Great Again” to you, too, Colindres Ortega.

Organizers and participants in this farce aim, very plainly, to publicly demonstrate that the US doesn’t have borders. Led by anti-American agitators, the procession catalyzed the urgency of action to stop an ongoing invasion.

Whether it arrives or not, the caravan is a positive bit of theatre. For one thing, the actors are quite correct. The US doesn’t have borders. For another, the caravan vividly exposes the antagonists in this ongoing tragedy: our overlords in DC. All of them.

To narrow the indictment a tad, note the extent to which the Democrats and their news media have avoided mentioning or covering the caravan. At a time when Democrats are fielding populists like Conor Lamb who won in Pennsylvania and former rodeo champion Billie Sutton (he hopes to govern South Dakota)—the mess on the border damns them like nothing else.

It’s these villains who’ve agreed to laws that permit anyone to arrive at that border, do their Les Misérables act, claim to face a "credible fear" back home, get a court date, and bolt like so many rabbits, to be seen again only at the voting booth, the welfare office, the DMV and at DACA demonstrations. They’re the malcontents holding up signs that read “America is racist.”

What all the veiled allusions to “catch-and-release loopholes in American immigration law” imply is this: Ostensibly, there’s no way to turn interlopers away once they plonk themselves on the US border, demand a translator and spin some yarn.

So far, President Trump has “signed a proclamation ordering the deployment of the National Guard to the border with Mexico.” This changes nothing. It remains illegal to defend the border by turning these particular trespassers away.

Other than stare these brazen people down, what will the National Guard do? Change diapers, as they did during the 2014 rush on the border?

Flash back more recently to January of 2016, when candidate Trump began alluding to "President liar-nObama's irresponsible use of executive orders” having paved the way for him, Trump, to also use them freely if he won the presidential race.

“Amen,” I said at that time—provided Trump uses executive power to repeal lots of laws, not make them.

After all, we live under an administrative "Secret State." Very many, maybe most, of the laws under which Americans labor need repealing. The only laws that should be naturally inviolable are those upholding life, liberty and property, for those are natural rights.

Candidate Trump had gone on to promisingly proclaim that, “The one thing good about executive orders [is that] the new president, if he comes in – boom, first day, first hour, first minute, you can rescind that.”

All of which speaks to a broader truth: There is nothing sacrosanct about every law imposed by an overweening national government and its unelected agencies. "At the federal level alone," the number of laws totaled 160,000 pages," in 2012. By broadcaster John Stossel's estimation, "Government adds 80,000 pages of rules and regulations every year." (How long is the Constitution?) According to the Heritage Foundation, "Congress continues to criminalize at an average rate of one new crime for every week of every year."

America has become a nation of thousands-upon-thousands of arbitrary laws; whose effect is to criminalize naturally licit conduct. Rather than uphold individual rights, most positive law namely statutory, man-made law regulates or criminalizes the business of life.

Laws passed in violation of the natural rights of the people, and by altogether skirting the will of the people’s representatives, need to be nullified. Like the laws making it illegal to repel unwanted invaders, who intend to wage welfare on their hosts, and sometimes worse.

Executive orders, President Trump has issued galore. But relatively few pertain to stopping the invasion ongoing. Needed are executive orders that sunder laws dictating that invaders-cum-“refugees” are to be processed rather than expelled.

Let the president suspend the scam that is the United States Refugee Act. Subject to review, yada-yada-yada. Let the president untether the US government from the Trojan Horse and shake-down scheme that is the United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Refugees. Again, subject to blah-blah-blah.

In working on behalf of refugees worldwide, private American charities dwarf the US government. Private non-profits do what they do unobtrusively, ethically, with minimum overheads and personnel. They don’t rely on confiscatory taxes! Most importantly, charities disburse aid and empower refugees without entering into agreements and entanglements with supranational bureaucracies, a thing that serves to indenture and endanger Americans, stateside.

In this post-constitutional era, nullification of unjust laws through executive orders is what’s necessary. It’s inevitable that correctives to the corrosive, self-sustaining, intractable actions of the state take the shape of action and reaction, force and counterforce in the service of liberty.

In this unfortunate but inescapable scheme of things, nullification is justice’s Jaws of Life, properly considered a political power tool to pry the people free of badlaws.

{ rickwells.us } ~ The interview of Tom Fitton by Ed Henry starts out with a replay of video from when dirty cop James Comey was lying before Congress... Comey stated that his supposed integrity wouldn’t allow him not to take matters into his own hands and end the liar-Clinton investigation, something that defies logic. He was afraid Lynch would cover up for liar-Hillary Clinton, so he covered up for her himself instead. Henry says that Loretta Lynch is now somehow ready to address what happened on the Phoenix airport tarmac. She’ll be doing it in the friendly confines of an interview with leftist propagandist Lester Holt, probably with advance knowledge of the softball questions she’ll be asked. Henry points out the absurdity of their claims of a happenstance runway meeting in which they spent thirty minutes talking about grandkids and the liar-Clinton golf game. Fitton reminds the viewers it was just a few days before liar-Hillary Clinton’s sham exoneration interview by the crooks at the FBI and DOJ attorneys...  https://rickwells.us/fitton-lynch-interview-comey/.

{ dailycaller.com } ~ The special counsel’s office is investigating a $150,000 donation a Ukrainian businessman made to President Donald Trump’s charity in 2015... according to a new report.  The donation, from steel magnate Victor Pinchuk, pales in comparison to contributions he gave to the charity liar-Bill and liar-Hillary Clinton set up. The billionaire has contributed $13 million to the liar-Clinton Foundation since 2006 and had access to liar-Hillary Clinton while she served as secretary of state. But Special Counsel Robert Mueller is not investigating The liar-Clintons. Instead, he is conducting a broad investigation of Donald Trump, including the flow of foreign money into various Trump-controlled entities. Mueller began investigating the Pinchuk donation after receiving documents in response to a subpoena issued to the Trump Organization — the real estate company Trump ran before entering politics...  Mueller needs to be fired along with Rosenstein.

{ rickwells.us } ~ Lester Holt begins his interview with Loretta Lynch with a typical leftwing media lie as part of the introduction... claiming that James Comey had been fired by President Trump because “he improperly went around AG Loretta Lynch when he publicly announced no charges would be filed against liar-Hillary Clinton.” According to the New York Times the reason was stated in a letter from President Trump to Comey which read, “While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the bureau.” There is no mention of him going around Loretta Lynch. Donning the kid gloves the leftists use when they’re protecting their corrupt political allies, Holt asks Lynch, “He Comey noted that you had asked him to call the liar-Clinton probe a matter, not an investigation. But he said it made him feel, I’m paraphrasing, it made him feel strange, he noted it. What did you mean when you said let’s call it a matter and not an investigation?”...

 Knife Control
by Tom McLaughlin
image_400x400.jpg
{ tommclaughlin.blogspot.com } ~ The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, says, “There’s never a reason to carry a knife.” Well, Mr. Khan: there’s always been a knife in my pocket for more than fifty years. It’s a little one with a two-inch blade and a very handy tool. Mr. Khan further states: “Anyone who does will be caught and will feel the full force of the law.”
Sadiq%2BKhan%2Btweet.png
I’ll be in London April 28th, but only for a stopover on the way back from Barcelona. I won’t be carrying my knife because it’ll be in my checked luggage. A real visit to Great Britain is on my bucket list however, and I plan to carry my pocket knife after I go through customs in London —unless it’s confiscated.
41HWDmuZseL.jpg
It’s made by Schrade, says “Old Timer” on the handle, and costs $16.01 on Amazon and given that I turned sixty-seven last Saturday, the “Old Timer” label is ever more appropriate. I ordered four of them recently to have spares on hand because I lose them sometimes. Three times I’ve had to forfeit my knife at airport security checkpoints because I forgot to put it in my checked luggage.

One of my students told the principal several years ago that she got scared when I used it to peel an orange in my room during snack time. He came up to see me and said, “You’re not supposed to have those you know.” I responded that I was going to keep my little pocket knife until he told the custodians they couldn’t have utility knives and the cooks couldn’t have cutlery. He left me alone after that.

Just last month New Hampshire’s Berlin Daily Sun reported that a Gorham, NH high school teacher was being investigated for doing a classroom demonstration on search and seizure using a jack-knife which he temporarily gave a student for the demonstration. When the parent complained, the superintendent, the police chief, and the district attorney all got involved to consider charges against the teacher. All this over a jack-knife that boys in my Cub Scout den carried. “There were other students in the classroom at the time,” said the article. Of course there were; it was a demonstration! What’s next? Will the school provide grief counselors for students who’ve seen a jack-knife?

So far in 2018, the city of London has had more homicides than New York City. Most have been stabbings so Mayor Khan wants a knife ban. Handguns have been banned in the UK since 1997. Khan is also banning acid because there were more than four hundred “acid attacks” in 2017 mostly by young men against other young men in certain London neighborhoods.

Though NYC police are banned now from using “stop and frisk” tactics, London police have been empowered to “stop and search” suspected knife wielders. Mayor Khan had previously called that “racist” and “Islamophobic” because they were often done with Muslim immigrants. Nearly all the attacks, however, occur in Muslim immigrant neighborhoods — also called “no-go zones” because police and other civil servants are violently discouraged from going there by their Muslim inhabitants. Officially, however, there aren’t any “no-go zones” in the UK and if you claim there are, you may be investigated for a hate crime.
Fury-at-No-Go-Areas1.jpg
Snopes insists “no-go zones” don’t exist in Europe anywhere. Last month, however, German Chancellor Angela Merkel admitted they do. When asked to clarify a statement on citizen safety in public places, she said: “It means for example that there cannot be any no-go areas, that there cannot be areas where no-one dares to go but there are such places. According to the Daily Wire: “Parliament is also set to take up heavy ‘knife control’ legislation when it resumes this week. The U.K. government is expected to introduce a ban on online knife sales and home knife deliveries, declare it ‘illegal to possess zombie knives and knuckledusters [brass knuckles] in private’ — ‘zombie knives’ are those defined as being manufactured for the purpose of being used as a person-to-person weapon — and ban sales of caustic materials to anyone under the age of 18, the Independent reports."

British actions would seem to empower classic arguments long made by gun control opponents in the US, like: “Guns don’t kill people; people kill people.” Killers use what’s available whether it’s guns, knives, poison, or explosives. It’s not the instrument; it’s the person, they insist.

{ legalinsurrection.com } ~ The FBI raid on the home and office of Donald Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen reportedly took place after a referral from Special Counsel Robert Mueller... The search warrant apparently was obtained by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York. Not much more than that is known as of this writing. There’s a lot of speculation and anonymously sourced reporting that it had to do with bank fraud, or the payment to Stormy Daniels, or something else. The seizure of records should have followed applicable procedures for searching an attorney’s office records to protect legitimate attorney-client privilege. Regardless, seizing the records of the personal attorney to the president is extraordinary, and reflects a number of points I’ve been arguing since the day Robert Mueller was appointed. The process of investigation is the reverse of what it should be. Mueller has identified the targets, being Trump and those around him, and then set out to find the crimes... https://legalinsurrection.com/2018/04/cohen-fbi-raid-mueller-outsources-the-legal-torment-of-michael-cohen/

{ freedomoutpost.com } ~ scum-George Soros has suffered a rather humiliating defeat after pumping millions of dollars into a Hungarian election he attempted to buy...  scum-Soros, who was born in Hungary and desperately wanted a hardened fascist to win the election, is now out millions of dollars as Viktor Orbán won with a whopping 70% of the vote. Viktor Orbán is known as an “anti-globalist” painted with the same broad brush as president Donald Trump. Prime minister Orbán has also successfully cut illegal immigration to Hungary by 99% after building his wall on the border. With the votes counted, Europe Elects is sharing stats which show Fidesz, the party founded by Prime Minister Orbán while he was a young anti-Communist dissident, has won not merely a decisive majority but an outright super-majority, along with minor allied parties. This will allow changes to the national constitution. Hopefully, those changes will be for more the better of the people, and not the expansion of liberty-trampling governments – something scum-Soros has championed for decades...  https://freedomoutpost.com/soros-defeated-spending-millions-attempting-rig-hungarian-election/

{ rickwells.us } ~ Considering the vast scope of Facebook, effectively a privately owned global public utility monopoly... that should be regulated and subject to antitrust scrutiny and sanctions, the upcoming theatrics due to play out this week are very important. The political futures of nations, including our own, may be at stake. With CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s testimony before Congress, the all-out effort to prevent President Trump from being reelected through the stifling of the speech of American patriots is entering the next phase. Once again the phantom Russian boogeyman is being used as a scapegoat, this time for “legitimizing” assaults on free speech, particularly those of conservatives opposed to the globalism of the left, the ideology of the elites Zuckerberg owes for his existence. When analyzing his statement, it’s helpful to keep it in the context of what it truly is, an attack on conservatives who used the Internet to elect Donald Trump, who defeated the mainstream fake news media in 2016. Zuckerberg, scum-Soros, Bezos and their leftist cabal intend to make certain that is not repeated in 2020. Zuckerberg is, through promises made to Congress, giving himself a blank check to trample on the Constitution and the rights of those he is politically opposed to, those who he will declare to be fake news and arbitrarily censored...  https://rickwells.us/zuckerberg-prevent-trump-reelection/

Another Crack in the liar-nObamaCare Wall

Kim Reynolds has driven the ObamaCare-loving left crazy.

When incumbent Iowa Governor Terry Branstad resigned last May to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to China, Reynolds, who served as lieutenant governor since 2011, was appointed as Iowa’s 43rd chief executive and the first woman to serve as governor. This year she’s running for a full term in a state where average liar-nObamaCare premiums have skyrocketed 57%, a reality Reynolds blames on the law’s regulations. “Many Iowans faced a choice of going broke or going without insurance,” she declared. “And that’s really not a real choice.
Many Iowans apparently agreed. Approximately 26,000 of them who had previously purchased premiums on the individual market dropped out between 2017 and 2018 due to high prices, and another 20,000 were expected to follow suit this year.
Those dropouts were engendered by a familiar tale of woe. As Politico columnist Paul Denko explains, the state’s insurance market “imploded, with insurers fleeing the market because of big losses” over the past four years. That exodus left exactly one company, Medica, selling plans on the liar-nObamaCare exchange in the state.
Last June, that reality initially caused Medica to seek a 43.5% premium increase, affecting about 14,000 Iowans. Two months later, Medica upped its request to 57%.
Last Monday Reynolds responded. She signed Senate File 2349, allowing the Iowa Farm Bureau to partner with Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield and offer self-funded “health benefit plans.” In addition, the law allows small businesses or self-employed people to band together and purchase “association health plans” (AHPs). Since these new types of coverage are not defined as health insurance, they are not subject to regulation by the Iowa Insurance Division, or liar-nObamaCare mandates.
Timothy S. Jost, an emeritus professor at Washington and Lee University, illuminated what Iowa is doing. “It’s not a state saying we’re going to violate the ACA,” he explained. “It’s a state saying we’ve found a loophole in the ACA, and we’re going to use it.”
Loophole? Choice is more like it. And of the many things that make hysterical leftists hysterical, providing Americans with an alternative to liar-nObamaCare — an odious concoction sold with an avalanche of lies to “stupid” Americans and passed in the dead of night without a single Republican vote — goes right to the top of the list.
Thus, pushback was inevitable. “This legislation will allow insurance companies to sell junk plans without proper oversight — precisely the kind of abuses the Affordable Care Act was designed to stop,” insisted Leslie Dach, chair of Protect Our Care, a pro- liar-nObamaCare advocacy group.
Dach typifies the progressive mindset that misses the forest in search of the trees. For far too many Iowans, what Dach refers to as “junk plans” are better than no plans at all. An unidentified woman who witnessed the signing of the Iowa law addressed that inconvenient reality, noting that “there’s no reason a healthy 32-year-old should be paying more for health insurance than for her mortgage.
Unfortunately there is, when one is forced to buyliar-nObamaCare coverage that mandates10 “essential benefits” including maternity care, mental health and substance abuse treatments, and pediatric services — even if one is a male, substance abuse-free, or a non-adolescent.
It is precisely this one-size-fits-all approach to health care that has alienated many Americans. According to the IRS, more than six million households chose to pay the liar-nObamaCare penalty in 2015, the majority of whom were low- and middle-income Americans the law was ostensibly supposed to help. Moreover, when the repeal of the individual mandate goes into effect in 2019, the Congressional Budget Office predicts four million Americans will decide to forgo insurance in 2019, and 13 million will drop coverage by 2027 — precipitating a 10% increase in liar-nObamaCare premiums in every one of those years. It doesn’t get much more abusive and unaffordable than that.
A spokesman for the Iowa Farm Bureau addressed that reality, explaining that plans “are currently being worked out between Wellmark and Farm Bureau,” specifically to provide “an option for folks who are currently priced out of the ACA.” And while Iowa Insurance Commissioner Doug Ommen reveals the impact of the new plans on the states’ markets remains largely unknown, he concedes Iowa doesn’t currently “have a large number of young and healthy people in that ACA market.”
Make that young and healthy people who are absolutely necessary to keep liar-nObamaCare costs down. And while such efforts might be well-intended, especially with regard to people with pre-existing conditions who cannot afford to pay higher prices that would otherwise be necessary to keep insurance markets stable — absent those younger and healthier Americans offsetting those costs — there are other perils rarely talked about, most of which center on personal responsibility.
While most Americans have no qualms whatsoever about helping those who have pre-existing conditions, or become ill through no fault of their own, that sympathetic mindset likely doesn’t extend to those who lead conspicuously unhealthy lifestyles, knowing their fellow Americans will help underwrite their insurance costs. That liar-nObamaCare makes no distinction between the two is highly problematic.
Yet even more problematic would be the emergence of a “health police” mindset, whereby government mandates lifestyle choices, for the “greater good” of keeping premium prices down, in order to incentivize those who would otherwise quit such a system to remain in it.
The common denominator? The apparently fatal assumption that collectivist health care is superior to Americans making individual choices about what they want covered and what they don’t. Moreover, there are ways of protecting those with pre-existing conditions that don’t require subjecting every American to rapidly escalating health care costs.
Thus, when any plan that embraces choice is reflexively labeled “junk” by progressives, that characterization reveals a mindset far more concerned with controlling Americans than helping them.
In short, progressives seem determined to preserve liar-nObamaCare, even if it fails the people it was supposed to help.
Iowa’s plan is hardly cutting edge. Tennessee’s Farm Bureau has offered non- liar-nObamaCare insurance for years, and Iowa’s plan is partly modeled after it. Moreover, Governor Reynolds insists the law is a temporary response to Congress’ inability to address the nation’s health care problem.
Iowa Farm Bureau spokeswoman Laurie Johns echoed Reynold’s concerns. “What we know for sure is that Iowans have seen individual health insurance premiums shoot through the roof — some have seen as much as 300 percent increases over the last four years” she wrote, “and out of pocket costs for deductibles and co-pays are also up significantly.
Is Congress the best place to address the nation’s health care? Americans might ask themselves if allowing states to formulate their own plans might be a better way to go for the simplest of reasons: 50 chances to get it right beats one chance by a mile. And shouldn’t getting it right for individual Americans — as opposed to insurance companies or government bureaucracies — be the only thing that matters?
For Americans who need affordable health care, the answer is obvious. For those with a greater interest in protecting the Big Insurance, Big Pharma, Big Bureaucracy status quo?
Not so much.   ~The Patriot Pos

{ washingtontimes.com } ~ Homeland Security began building a border wall in New Mexico on Monday... moving to replace vehicle barriers with a modern fence that will deter pedestrians attempting to cross in the remote desert west of El Paso. The 20-mile project has been on the books for some time and the contract was awarded Jan. 22, meaning it was finalized before the recent fight over border wall money in the new 2018 spending bill. But the administration says it wouldn’t have been built but for President Trump’s push for more border wall. “We need effective barriers to deny the entry of illegal aliens and contraband,” said Aaron A. Hull, chief patrol agent for the El Paso Sector of the Border Patrol. “Our agents know that a balance of physical infrastructure, technology and personnel is key to securing the border and keeping our communities safe.”...

Judge Okays Infringing the Second Amendment

In his decision in Worman v. Baker, U.S. District Court Judge William G. Young declared, “Assault weapons and LCMs [large capacity magazines] are not within the scope of the personal right to ‘bear arms’ under the Second Amendment.” Furthermore, he argued, “Because the undisputed facts convincingly demonstrate AR-15s and LCMs are most useful in military service, they are beyond the scope of the Second Amendment … and may be banned.” He insisted, “The test is not the AR-15’s present day popularity but whether it is a weapon ‘most useful in military service.’” You know what else was “most useful in military service”? The single-shot musket, at the time the Bill of Rights was crafted. It’s pathetically laughable to assert that the Founders meant what Young contends. Quite the contrary, the usefulness and popularity of the AR-15 mean that it is the epitome of what the Founders intended to protect.

Moreover, Young even acknowledged the difference between the AR-15 and the M-16, if only to dismiss it: “The AR-15 design is almost identical to the M16, except for the mode of firing [emphasis added].” Young should have realized that semiautomatic vs. fully automatic makes all the difference. The fact that these two rifles look alikedoes not trump the fact that they function very differently. The deliberate leftist conflation of the two, simply due to some entirely cosmetic features, is solely for the purpose of undermining Second Amendment rights. We suggest Young take the time to learn the error of his ways.
Young concluded by boasting of his ruling, “Justice Scalia would be proud.” Like Scalia, Young is an appointee of Ronald Reagan, but Young’s claim is outrageous, and if Scalia were alive to correct him, he would hammer this mendacious twisting of his words.
As for Massachusetts’ law, bans on popular semiautomatic rifles with certain cosmetic features that have nothing to do with lethality are merely for show; they do not “save lives” as the state’s attorney general insisted after the ruling. Instead, they rob citizens of a tool useful in actually exercising their constitutional right.
Eventually, the Supreme Court is going to have to stop avoiding gun cases and settle this matter.

{ rickwells.us } ~ War-monger and tool of the Military Industrial Complex rino-John McCain had some harsh words for President Trump... partially blaming him for the chemical weapons attack that may or may not have been conducted on Syrian people by the Syrian government. Just as was the case a year ago, the timing is convenient for those seeking to extend our presence and financial commitment to Syria, those rino-John McCain represents, and counter to the self-interest of Assad, Russia, Syria or Iran. That was also the case a year ago in April of 2017, when Assad was already winning the war against ISIS and subversives in his country, yet supposedly chose to bring international wrath upon himself by killing his own citizens, with no strategic benefit whatsoever. It had all of the earmarks of a false flag orchestrated and with video footage provided by the dubious ISIS-friendly “White Helmets.”...  https://rickwells.us/mccain-taunts-trump-syria/

{ politico.com } ~ Paul Manafort’s legal team faces a critical choice as he heads to trial... how aggressively the former Trump campaign chairman should base his defense on alleged political bias and misconduct by federal investigators. Manafort, a criminal defendant fighting two separate cases, is uniquely positioned to try to dredge up information on bias or potential overreach by FBI and Justice Department officials who have played roles in special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of ties between the Trump campaign and Russia. Whether Manafort will seek to uncover and spotlight disparaging details about federal officials, potentially including an FBI agent dismissed from Mueller’s team last year, has become the subject of speculation and anticipation by lawyers involved in the Russia investigation...  https://www.politico.com/story/2018/04/08/paul-manafort-fbi-trial-508063

{ freebeacon.com } ~ Iranian leaders are threatening to restart the country's contested nuclear enrichment program in just a matter of days... as the Trump administration and European allies scramble to address a range of flaws in the landmark nuclear accord ahead of a May deadline that could see the United States walk away from the accord, according to regional reports and administration insiders. The head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization disclosed on Sunday that the Islamic Republic has maintained the ability to restart the full-scale enrichment of uranium—the key component in a nuclear weapon that was supposed to be removed from Iran as part of the nuclear agreement—in just four days. Ali Akbar Salehi, head of Iran's atomic work, claimed Iran could enrich uranium to 20 percent, which is more than enough to quickly reach the threshold to power a nuclear weapon, in just four days if the word is given by Iran's hardline ruling regime...  http://freebeacon.com/national-security/iran-threatens-restart-nuke-enrichment-program-matter-days/?utm_source=Freedom+Mail&utm_campaign=0299439a7b-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_04_08&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5e6e0e9ea-0299439a7b-45611665

Don't Let the Left Do It to Pruitt

{ townhall.com } ~ The left's crusade against Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt should be seen for what it is -- a witch hunt. We don't need any more conservatives hanged by leftists who major in criminalizing political differences and minor in slander.

How dare a Republican president appoint an environmental heretic to head an administrative agency the left views as its sole, separate and absolute property? This agency exists to serve the deep state -- the entrenched federal government bureaucracy that is tailor-made to advance the left's agenda and operate above accountability.

This conspiratorially organized assault against Pruitt is precisely what Barack liar-nObama and his friends mean by community organizing. It is vicious, relentless street fighting aimed at discrediting Pruitt and taking him down because he is one of the rare administrative officials who won't put politics above the law and will stand up to those who do.

The left -- always projecting its own malicious practices onto its political opponents -- is framing this as its benign campaign to protect the rule of law. Leftists claim that it is Pruitt, appointed by Dr. Donald Evil himself, who is imposing his political agenda. These Alinskyites understand the impact of words and the force of propaganda. Anyone who doesn't swallow whole their radical assumptions on the environment is a menace, especially one who is in a position to make a policy difference.

Leftist activists and their media co-pilots are hellbent on disgracing Pruitt and destroying his reputation to effect his removal, so they are throwing all kinds of phony scandals against the wall of public opinion to pressure the White House to give them Pruitt's head.

The energy they are expending on this should tell you how important progressives view unelected, unaccountable administrative agencies in implementing their draconian regulations, which have been choking our individual liberties and wreaking havoc on our economy.

The left is blowing a lot of smoke about alleged improprieties with Pruitt's travel expenses. Thank goodness media conservatives, whose very existence leftists lament every day, are on the case. The Wall Street Journal's Kimberley Strassel, in a series of tweets, dismantled this bogus charge simply by comparing Pruitt's travel and security costs with those of his predecessors, whose similar expenses dwarf Pruitt's. And when you add the disturbing factor that Pruitt has been the target of death threats, which have required greater security measures, the contrast between Pruitt's expenses and those of his dutifully liberal forerunners is even more pronounced.

There is also the earth-shattering matter of the alleged sweetheart deal Pruitt was given on a condo lease, a transaction that was reviewed and found proper by the EPA's ethics office, which is hardly staffed by Trump supporters.

Leftists don't care a whit about these nonissues; they are just using them as cudgels to thwart the democratic process -- the legitimate effort of our duly elected president to appoint people who will not advance radical policies by being lawless agents. No matter how desperately leftists want to brand Pruitt as a renegade activist, he is just a cog in the wheel of their activism or, in some cases, the driver who is going to put their environmental vehicle in reverse and slam his foot on the pedal.

The left has bullied its way into imposing administrative regulations that are disastrous for business and onerous for individuals. They aren't just horrible in substance; they're also terrible in process. The liar-nObama administration shamelessly thwarted the rule of law and exceeded its authority in issuing many of these regulations.

Under Pruitt's leadership, the EPA has eliminated regulations gratuitously detrimental to the coal industry that   liar-nObama crafted to achieve his stated agenda of bankrupting that industry. Pruitt has determined, in light of recent data, that the current greenhouse gas emissions standards for cars and light trucks for model years 2022-25 are inappropriate and require revision. In announcing his decision, Pruitt said that " liar-nObama's EPA cut the Midterm Evaluation process short with politically charged expediency, made assumptions about the standards that didn't comport with reality, and set the standards too high."

That is, liar-nObama's regulations were not only inappropriate based on the data but also issued unlawfully pursuant to a political agenda. You won't hear leftists or their media water carriers complaining about this.

In addition to their angst over Pruitt's revision of the fuel emissions standards, which, incidentally, could reduce the price of new cars by as much as $7,000, The Heritage Foundation's Genevieve Wood offers two reasons the left is going after Pruitt -- and neither of them has to do with ethics issues. He has led the Trump administration's efforts to dismantle liar-nObama's "expensive and ineffective climate legacy piece by piece." And his EPA is scrapping the transparency-hostile practice of developing regulations based on studies that are kept secret from the public.

One thing I appreciate about President Trump is that he is taking action in certain areas that would have been unthinkable to entrenched politicians, many of whom are so used to the inertia of bad policy that they seem to be paralyzed with feelings of futility. The EPA is one of those areas. We are actually seeing concrete results, and it's immensely refreshing.

Like many others, I've long said that we can't afford to sleep for one second in our ongoing battles against leftists because they don't. We need to shed some of the defeatism that has crippled the conservative agenda and celebrate the kind of progress we're seeing at the EPA.

The left considers Pruitt a hill to die on. So should we.

{ rickwells.us } ~ MAGA patriot Arthur Schaper recently addressed a meeting of the Huntington Beach, CA, City Council... offering them his support and demands for an ordinance or other appropriate legal action nullifying California’s Sanctuary City Law. The intro by Gary Galino states that the city is planning a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the Sanctuary State statute. They’re there to help make that happen. Schaper begins his comments by stating that he is “a proud Californian and a proud American.” He says, “This country, this state is still very much America.” He demands that the rule of law be enforced and urging them to pass a resolution opposing SB 54, the sanctuary state legislation. He encourages them to “Be the second domino with Los Alamitos. That was the strong second shot heard around the world and let it be a sound of restoration for this ‘Bear Flag Republican.’ A little history lesson, this is not stolen land. This is land that was bought and paid for. And even the Mexicans themselves wanted to become Americans.”...  https://rickwells.us/calif-patriots-sue-sanctuary-law/.

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ In a prophetic conference held in Vienna on May 7, 1935, the philosopher Edmund Husserl said... "The greatest danger to Europe is tiredness". Eighty years later, the same fatigue and passivity still dominate Western European societies. It is the sort of exhaustion that we see in Europeans' falling birth rates, the mushrooming public debt, chaos in the streets, and Europe's refusal to invest resources in its security and military might. Last month, in a Paris suburb, the Basilica of Saint Denis, where France's Christian kings are buried, was occupied by 80 migrants and pro-illegal-immigration activists. The police had to intervene to free the site. Stephen Bullivant, a professor of theology and the sociology of religion at St Mary's University in London, recently published a report, "Europe's Young Adults and Religion": "Christianity as a default, as a norm, is gone, and probably gone for good – or at least for the next 100 years," Bullivant said...  https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/12093/europe-civilizational-exhaustion

by Peggy Noonan
{ peggynoonan.com } ~ Easter, Passover, spring break, holiday weekend. Let us unfurrow the brow and look at something elevated. It’s a small thing, a half-hour television interview from 60 years ago, but it struck me this week as a kind of master class in how to be a public figure and how to talk about what matters. In our polarized moment it functions as both template and example.

In March 1958, the fierce young journalist Mike Wallace —already famous for opening an interview with the restaurateur Toots Shor by asking, “Toots, why do people call you a slob?”—decided to bore in on Oscar Hammerstein II. For the record, Shor responded that Wallace had him confused with Jackie Gleason.  Hammerstein was the fabled lyricist and librettist who with composer Richard Rodgers put jewels in the crown of American musical theater—“Oklahoma,” “South Pacific,” “The King and I,” and “Carousel,” whose latest Broadway revival is about to open. He was a hero of American culture and a famous success in a nation that worshiped success.

Wallace was respectful but direct and probing. He asked Hammerstein if critics who’d called his work sentimental didn’t have a point.

Hammerstein said his critics were talented, loved the theater, and there was something to what they’d said. But he spoke of sentiment “in contradistinction to sophistication”: “The sophisticate is a man who thinks he can swim better than he can and sometimes drowns himself. He thinks he can drive better than he really can and sometimes causes great smash-ups. So, in my book there’s nothing wrong with sentiment because the things we’re sentimental about are the fundamental things in life, the birth of a child, the death of a child or of anybody, falling in love. I couldn’t be anything but sentimental about these basic things.”

What, Wallace asked, was Hammerstein’s message in “South Pacific”?

Hammerstein said neither he nor Rodgers had ever gone looking for vehicles by which to deliver messages. They were attracted to great stories and wanted to tell them on stage. But “when a writer writes anything about anything at all, he gives himself away.” He inevitably exposes his beliefs and hopes. The love stories in “South Pacific” were shaped by questions of race. The main characters learned that “all this prejudice that we have is something that fades away in the face of something that’s really important.” That thing is love.

Does this reflect his views on interracial marriage?

Hammerstein, simply: “Yes.”

“The King and I,” he said, is about cultural differences. The Welsh governess and the Siamese children know nothing of each other at the start: “There again, all race and color had faded in their getting to know and love each other.” On the other hand, “Allegro,” about disillusionment and professional achievement, carries a warning: “After you’re successful, whether you be a doctor or a lawyer or a librettist, there is a conspiracy that goes on in which you join—a conspiracy of the world to render you less effective by bestowing honors on you and taking you away from the job of curing people, or of pleading cases, or writing libretti and . . . putting you on committees.” He added he was “a fine one to talk”: he couldn’t stop joining committees.

Is he religious? Here Hammerstein told a story. A year ago he was rushing to work and jaywalked. A policeman called out; Hammerstein braced for a dressing down. But the officer recognized him and poured out his appreciation for his work. Hammerstein thanked him and moved to leave, but the policeman had a question. “He said, ‘Are you religious?’ And I said, ‘Well, I don’t belong to any church,’ and then he patted me on the back and he said, ‘Ah, you’re religious all right.’ And I went on feeling as if I’d been caught, and feeling that I was religious. He had discovered from the words of my songs that I had faith—faith in mankind, faith that there was something more powerful than mankind behind it all, and faith that in the long run good triumphs over evil. If that’s religion, I’m religious, and it is my definition of religion.”

Then to politics.

Wallace: “You are an active liberal.”

Hammerstein: “Yes, I guess I am.”

What connection does this have with your work?

“I think it must have a connection, because it expresses my feelings, my tendencies,” Hammerstein said. “As I’ve said before, a writer gives himself away if he’s writing honestly.”

Wallace: “Would you agree that most of our writers and directors on Broadway and television in Hollywood are liberal and that there is a liberal complexion to their work?”

“I think I would, yes,” Hammerstein replied, honestly and with no defensiveness.

Wallace’s office had just spoken to “a militant dissenter” from liberalism, Ayn Rand, author of the recently published novel “Atlas Shrugged.” She said: “The public is being brainwashed by the so-called liberal or leftist philosophies, which have a stranglehold on the dissemination of ideas in America.” How did Hammerstein respond?

He didn’t like her adding the word leftist, “because you can be a liberal without being a leftist, and many and most liberals are.” Beyond that her criticism was an example of what’s working. “I think it’s fine that there is a Miss Rand who comes out stoutly for the conservative. I think it’s fine that we have all kinds of thinkers in the world. . . . I admit that the majority of writers in this country are on the liberal side.”

But he added, of Rand: “We need her to hold us back, and I think she needs us to pull her forward.”

Italics mine. Because liberals and conservatives do need each other, and the right course can sometimes be found in the tug between them.

Wallace: “The public does rarely get anything but a liberal viewpoint from Hollywood or from television, from Broadway,” and the charge can be “safely made that there is a certain intolerance of conservative ideas among liberals.”

Hammerstein, again undefensive: “I think so too.”

What’s to be done about it? Nothing, said Hammerstein: “Just be yourself, that’s all.” If the public likes Miss Rand, “there will be a Miss Rand trend.” Let the problem work its way out in a free country.

Hammerstein said he tries sometimes to vote Republican “just for the sake of switching—just for the sake of telling myself I’m not a party man,” which he doesn’t want to be. “But somehow or other I always wind up voting Democratic.” Balancing the budget bores him. “I have an idea that the more liberal Democratic tendency—to borrow and owe money is healthier for us.” Most big corporations borrow, and they make progress with the money. When the U.S. borrows money, Hammerstein said, he felt “the people in the lower income bracket get the most out of it. But I’m no economist—this is merely a guess.”

We’re all guessing, and working on instinct and experience.

Moral modesty and candor are good to see.

In our public figures, especially our political ones, they are hard to find. I offer Hammerstein’s old words as an example—a prompter—of what they sound like.

A radiant Easter, a beautiful Passover to my radiant and beautiful readers.

{ rickwells.us } ~ House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep Trey Gowdy was interviewed by Maria Bartiromo on Sunday on the topic of Congress versus the Justice Department... and the obstructionist game of hide and seek that is being played with the truth. Gowdy, who is at one moment overly supportive of the Mueller witch hunt, the FBI and DOJ while expressing frustration at being lied to and denied access to the information they’re deliberately withholding, describes being provided two different redacted versions of the Peter Strzok memo that started the Russia hoax witch hunt, what he refers to as an investigation. He says he’s struggling to understand why. Stop scratching your head, Congressman, it’s because they’re dirty cops who have been caught doing things that could send them to prison and expose corruption throughout the subversive deep state, particularly in their unlawful conduct on behalf of the liar-nObama/liar-Clinton/scum-Soros Mafia... https://rickwells.us/gowdy-trump-doj-stonewalling/.
Media Matters: Bully Masquerading as Tax-Exempt Charity

{ americanthinker.com } ~ According to public records, David Brock’s Media Matters group has ignored important legal requirements for tax-exempt charities... Instead of reveling in the impact of his attacks against Laura Ingraham, David Brock and his team at Media Matters for America  (MMFA) need to try complying with the strict laws that do regulate activities of publicly supported, tax-exempt organizations. In theory, MMFA is an “educational” charity.  IRS guidance concerning how an educational charity may avoid illegal partisan and legislative advocacy is instructive. So, if MMFA were, in fact, a lawfully organized and operated charitable organization in each jurisdiction where it solicited contributions and/or carried out activities in furtherance of its specific and authorized tax-exempt purposes, MMFA would have to avoid publishing “material which discredits particular institutions and individuals on the basis of unsupported opinions and incomplete information about their affiliations,” adopt “an unbiased position,” “stick to a reasoned approach and avoid unsupported opinion,” and “avoid the advocacy of specific legislation as a substantial part of their activity.”...  https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/04/media_matters_bully_masquerading_as_taxexempt_charity.html

{ dailycaller.com } ~ A barrage of missiles struck a military base inside Syria early Monday morning... according to multiple reports from Syrian state media and observers on the ground. The attack targeted Tiyas air base near Homs in eastern Syria, the site from which an Iranian drone crossed into Israeli airspace in February. Israel responded to that incursion by bombing the Tiyas base, losing an F-16 fighter jet to a Syrian anti-aircraft missile in the process. Air defenses intercepted eight missiles launched at the base, Syrian state media said. No government has yet claimed responsibility for the airstrikes, and U.S. defense officials denied American military assets took part in the attack, The Associated Press reported...  http://dailycaller.com/2018/04/08/syria-air-base-missile-attack/?utm_medium=email

The announcement of Anton’s departure coincides with that of outgoing National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, whose last day was Sunday. Anton is expected to leave the White House in the coming weeks, though a specific date has not been set. Anton reportedly plans to join Hillsdale College’s Kirby Center as a writer and lecturer. { freedomsback.com } ~ Once upon a time, we cared about the welfare of our fellow Americans. Farmers in the Midwest devastated by tornadoes, trailer parks washed away in a Florida hurricane, our country’s ranking on various international comparisons — we all rooted for our fellow Americans. Like all countries, we would squabble, but we were family. We were all Americans.

Not anymore! Now, no one cares about anything but getting rich, the better to separate oneself from the lives and concerns of poorer Americans.

Businessmen, Wall Street bankers, ethnic activists, Democrats and Republicans including the president, apparently — all of them have a stronger fellow feeling toward Saudi princes and German bankers than toward Iowa farmers. Being “inclusive” to “Dreamers” necessarily means being exclusionary toward our own working class.

So what if wages have flatlined — or declined! — for several decades? The smart set aren’t wage-slaves.

Mexican drug cartels aren’t swarming through their towns. They live in fancy neighborhoods.

Somali refugees aren’t beating up their kids — who are safely ensconced in expensive private schools, anyway.

Members of our governing class seem to have decided the country is doomed, so they may as well make their pile. Sure, they’ll have to face the wrath of voters and may be voted out of office, like Eric Cantor. But they’ll end up on corporate boards or win lucrative lobbying contracts. Plus, being “progressive” on immigration will look great on their kid’s Princeton application.

Everybody’s looking out for No. 1.

It wasn’t always this way. Politicians, liberal activists and journalists used to care about even non-fashionable Americans.

One doesn’t have to go back to the Garfield administration to find a time when everyone wanted to protect the nation from dysfunctional immigration — the crime, the drugs, the poverty, the wage-depressing effect, the burden on our social services. Positions that are today considered hateful used to be called “common sense.”

A 1995 news article in The New York Times calmly described preparations the Immigration and Naturalization Service was making in case a “vast flood of illegal immigrants” surged across the Mexican border, “inundating entire communities as it washes north into the American heartland.” Under the liar-Clinton administration, the illegals would face either “immediate voluntary deportation” or “emergency detention.”

No indignant denunciations followed.

More hate speech from the Times:

“Fighting illegal immigration is a difficult and important job. But Congress should do it in a way that will deter illegal entry at the border.” — New York Times editorial, Sept. 29, 1997

“The I.N.S. is extremely troubled, but has improved under the leadership of Doris Meissner. Since her appointment in 1993, … the border is tighter, and the I.N.S. is deporting record numbers of criminal aliens.” — New York Times editorial, Aug. 10, 1997

Just a few years ago, Charles Lane, an editorial writer at The Washington Post, called for “prompt exclusion of unaccompanied Central American minors” during the border surge under liar-nObama. “Only by showing people there is nothing to be gained by paying traffickers for the traumatic voyage through Mexico will the chaos cease.”

The great civil rights icon Barbara Jordan produced a report on immigration more than two decades ago, calling on the government to end chain migration and put a dead stop to illegal immigration, for the benefit of all Americans.

“Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave.”

She added: “Deportation is crucial.”

Far-left Democrats used to openly proclaim ideas that would get them banned from Twitter today:

“When push comes to shove, there is only one realistic way that you can stop illegal immigration into this country, and that is by making it illegal and being tough enough that illegal immigrants cannot work in this country.” — Democratic Sen. Howard Metzenbaum, 1985

“No sane country would reward illegal immigrants, right? Guess again. If you break our laws by entering this country without permission, and give birth to a child, we reward that child with U.S. citizenship and guarantee full access to all public and social services this society provides — and that’s a lot of services. Is it any wonder that two-thirds of the babies born at taxpayer expense in county-run hospitals in Los Angeles are born to illegal alien mothers?” — Democratic Sen. Harry dinky-Reid, 1993

Very recently, a presidential candidate who seemed to actually care about America’s working class denounced illegal immigration as “a Koch brothers” idea. That was commie-Bernie Sanders.

He explained: “Open borders? No, that’s a Koch brothers’ proposal. … That’s a right-wing proposal, which says essentially there is no United States. … It would make everybody in America poorer — you’re doing away with the concept of a nation-state. … You have an obligation in my view to do everything we can to help poor people.

“What right-wing people in this country would love is an open-border policy. Bring in all kinds of people, work for $2 or $3 an hour — that would be great for them. I don’t believe in that. I think we have to raise wages in this country; I think we have to do everything we can to create millions of jobs.” — commie-Bernie Sanders in interview with Ezra Klein of Vox on July 28, 2015

Forget hypocrisy — I don’t care about that right now. It’s the cruelty that interests me.

Have well-heeled Americans really decided to abandon their fellow citizens? These merchants of compassion have none to spare for our own people? I’m not a steelworker, a waitress or a black teenager looking for an entry-level job, either. But I still care about other Americans.

First, it was the cinnamon challenge…a viral internet fad a couple of years ago where cha-2.jpg?width=183idiots would attempt to eat a spoonful of ground cinnamon in under 60 seconds…without drinking anything.

It was, of course, dangerous as cinnamon can coat the mouth and throat, which in turn can result in coughing, gagging, vomiting and inhaling of cinnamon, which in turn leads to throat irritation, breathing difficulties, and risk of pneumonia or a collapsed lung.

None of the risks prevented hundreds of millennials from trying to do it, and post their ill-fated attempts to YouTube, but luckily, that fad came to an inglorious end.

But…what’s a world without an obtuse fad?

The next big thing for millennial morons was the Tide Pod challenge…
