President Donald Trump on Thursday announced four new nominees to the United States Sentencing Commission (USSC), at least two of whom... if confirmed, would bring a tough-on-crime attitude to the federal government's sentencing advisory body. Established in 1984, the USSC is responsible for promulgating non-binding guidelines for the sentencing of federal offenders, with an eye toward reducing disparities in sentences under the previously more-discretionary system. Commissioners are responsible for defining the guidelines. One nominee is Judge Henry E. Hudson, a U.S. district judge for the Eastern District of Virginia, a position he has held since his 2002 appointment by President George W. Bush. Nicknamed "Hang ‘Em High" Henry, Hudson is an infamously tough-on-crime judge who comes equipped with conservative bona fides such as his chairmanship of President Ronald Reagan's national commission on pornography, which connected porn to violence...  http://freebeacon.com/issues/trump-announces-tough-crime-nominees-sentencing-commission/?utm_source=Freedom+Mail&utm_campaign=22242d4d3d-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_03_02&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5e6e0e9ea-22242d4d3d-45611665

School Districts Contemplate Allowing
Teachers to Carry Concealed Guns

In the wake of the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida, earlier this month... Democratic lawmakers and gun-control advocates have argued that a full ban on "assault-style" weapons and high-capacity magazines is the only way to ensure the safety of children in educational institutions, but school administrators across the country have other ideas in mind. Some school districts have already implemented, and more are now considering, giving teachers and other employees the option to carry a concealed weapon on school grounds. The Federal Gun-Free School Zones Act, passed in 1990 and signed by then-President George H.W. Bush, made it unlawful for individuals to knowingly carry loaded or unsecured firearms within 1,000 feet of a school zone. The law—which applies to public, private, and parochial institutions—included a provision to allow firearms on school premises if they are used in a program approved by the school board or are in accordance with a contract entered into between a school and an individual or an employer of the individual. That section of the bill has sparked the interest of school administrators in finding innovative alternatives to ensuring the safety of students and employees, while not undermining the budgetary commitments their institutions have to provide a quality education...   http://freebeacon.com/issues/school-districts-contemplate-allowing-teachers-carry-concealed-guns/?utm_source=Freedom+Mail&utm_campaign=22242d4d3d-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_03_02&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5e6e0e9ea-22242d4d3d-45611665

IT IS ONE of the world’s most powerful alliances. And yet most people have probably never heard of it... because its existence is a closely guarded government secret. The “SIGINT Seniors” is a spy agency coalition that meets annually to collaborate on global security issues. It has two divisions, each focusing on different parts of the world: SIGINT Seniors Europe and SIGINT Seniors Pacific. Both are led by the U.S. National Security Agency, and together they include representatives from at least 17 other countries. Members of the group are from spy agencies that eavesdrop on communications – a practice known as “signals intelligence,” or SIGINT. Details about the meetings of the SIGINT Seniors are disclosed in a batch of classified documents from the NSA’s internal newsletter SIDToday, provided by whistleblower Edward Snowden and published today by The Intercept. The documents shine light on the secret history of the coalition, the issues that the participating agencies have focused on in recent years, and the systems that allow allied countries to share sensitive surveillance data with each other...  https://theintercept.com/2018/03/01/nsa-global-surveillance-sigint-seniors/?utm_source=The+Intercept+Newsletter&utm_campaign=26982098db-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_03_03&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e00a5122d3-26982098db-131896129

by DAVID LIMBAUGH

{ wnd.com } ~ Upon hearing that former President Barack liar-nObama recently boasted that he had a scandal-free administration, my first thought after regaining my faculties was: How can I possibly cram all the evidence refuting this in a little bitty column?

Then I read that what he actually said was, “We didn’t have a scandal that embarrassed us.” At first blush, that sounds better, right? Because I assume he doesn’t mean he’s incapable of being embarrassed. After a little more thought, though, it occurred to me that this construction just highlights the real reason he has apparently deluded himself into thinking he served eight honorable years: The liberal media had his back the entire time, even when he treated them like dirt.

In fact, liar-nObama was a perpetual power-abusing machine. He was so routinely high-handed and selectively contemptuous of the rule of law that people were beginning to think presidential authoritarianism was the new normal. How ironic that so many of liar-nObama’s enablers are now projecting these sins onto President Trump, who – to this point, at least – hasn’t actually crossed the line into flouting the Constitution. The left believes – and acts on the belief – that the ends justify the means, and so, it naturally assumes we will do the same. liar-nObama was hell-bent on fundamentally transforming America as founded, and he was willing to scratch, bite, kick, steal and flush the rule of law to accomplish it – and he did, like no president before him. In other words, liar-nObama’s lies were OK because lies are sometimes necessary for the greater good.

For your review, let me just give you a list of examples, many of them snatched from my two liar-nObama books, which chronicled his two disgraceful terms. Not all technically qualify as scandals, but enough do.

Benghazi: In addition to the scandalous betrayal and death of our people, liar-nObama and his cohorts concocted and disseminated the lie that the attack on our mission was caused by an anti-Muslim video. Later, Judicial Watch obtained a smoking-gun email from top-level liar-nObama aid Ben Rhodes, sent to a dozen members of

liar-nObama’s inner circle, that contained talking points to prepare then-U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice for the Sunday talk shows. Three of the four main bullet points Rhodes was advising Rice to convey were patently false, including the lie about the video. They knew, because the CIA made it clear, that the attack was not the result of a spontaneous protest to an anti-Muslim video but preplanned by al-Qaida. The liar-nObama administration manufactured this canard to insulate liar-nObama from criticism two months before the November 2012 election, as he had boasted that he had al-Qaida on the run.

liar-nObama’s IRS conspired to target conservative and pro-Israel groups for discriminatory treatment in acquiring tax exemptions.

liar-nObama and then-Attorney General scum-Eric Holder’s Justice Department was never held to account for its actions on the gunrunning scandal known as Operation Fast and Furious, in which an American was murdered with weapons this administration deliberately put into the hands of Mexican cartels.

This same Justice Department was also under a cloud due to scandals involving its massive culling of Associated Press reporters’ phone records concerning a leak investigation, slandering Fox News reporter James Rosen over classified information, and monitoring Rosen’s phone calls and emails.

liar-nObama’s lies on liar-nObamacare were legion and scandalous: He knew from the jump we couldn’t keep our plans or our doctors, and that liar-nObamacare would reduce rather than increase people’s access to care. He knew it wouldn’t reduce premiums by $2,500 for the average family of four. He deceived us when he said no federal dollars would be used to fund abortions. He grossly distorted the picture of the true number of uninsured. His goal, proved on videotape, was always single-payer. He used budgetary accounting gimmicks to grease
liar-nObamacare by the CBO, including the double counting on Medicare.

After liar-nObama’s failure to pass cap-and-trade legislation through Congress to purportedly reduce the global temperature by suppressing traditional energy production and consumption, his Environmental Protection Agency unilaterally and unconstitutionally issued a decree to accomplish his goal administratively. Some called this one of the biggest power grabs in American history, as the EPA had positioned itself to regulate fuel economy, set climate policy for the nation and amend the Clean Air Act – powers never delegated to it by Congress.

The liar-nObama administration flagrantly defied a federal court order on his moratorium on offshore drilling when his interior secretary, Ken Salazar, said he would just reimpose the moratorium based on information that wasn’t fully developed earlier.

liar-nObama rigged the playing field to secure for his labor-union friends a bigger stake in his new General Motors than was warranted by their actual ownership interest. He robbed secured creditors of their preferred-creditor status and the value of their investment by using the power of his office to strong-arm a restructuring of the company. When Democratic Party donor and super-lawyer Tom Lauria opposed this plan on behalf of his client, according to Lauria, the White House threatened to destroy his client’s reputation.

The liar-nObama/ liar-Hillary Clinton FISA scandal, the egregiousness of which is being casually dismissed by many, will someday be fully exposed.

Then, there’s the Iran nuclear deal, liar-nObama’s unprecedented federal land grabs; his dismissal of a voter-intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party that had already been won; his bullying of doctors and insurance companies when it served his purposes; his endless stirring of the racial pot; his bullying and fact-starved attack on BP that culminated in his authoritarian command, “Just plug the damn hole”; his stable of unaccountable “czars”; his war on Fox News, which preceded Trump’s battles with the press that Democrats find so horrifying; the Department of Veterans Affairs scandal; the Solyndra scandal; the deliberate targeting of the coal industry; the shakedown of banks; the massive redistribution scheme disguised as an economic stimulus program; the federal commandeering of the student loan program; his public dressing down of the Supreme Court; his whispered hot-mic pledge to Russia to be more flexible on missile defense; his cavalier treatment of Arizona and its immigration laws; and gobs more.

I truly could go on, but I trust you get the picture.

{ rickwells.us } ~ Lou Dobbs built upon information about Attorney General Jeff Sessions provided by Rep Matt Gaetz (R-FL)... who revealed he has met with the figurehead AG and that his conduct and level of awareness were consistent with President Trump’s description of Sessions as Mr. Magoo. Gaetz described the meeting, saying, “I did sit down with the Attorney General along with Judiciary chair Bob Goodlatte [R-Va.] and many others and I was disappointed that the Attorney General didn’t seem to be very engaged on any of these issues regarding existential threats to the Trump administration. He was deferring to a team that answered to Rod Rosenstein, for goodness sakes.” Of course Rod Rosenstein is the last guy who should be running the Department of Justice, given the evidence that he is severely compromised and heavily involved in the Mueller effort to evict President Trump from the White House. Yet Sessions seemed clueless and was leaving policy and prosecution decisions to the enemy...  https://rickwells.us/dobbs-gaetz-sessions-rosenstein/.

{ greatamericandaily.com } ~ 18 months of federal investigations have produced zero evidence of collusion with Russia... But there are piles of evidence that the FBI’s conduct is the real scandal. The FBI was so consumed with trying to tip the election to liar-Clinton and then ruining Trump’s Presidency that they let the alleged Russian meddling slip right under their noses. Fox News Legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano blamed former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey for failing to stop Russian election interference and said it all occurred on former President Barack liar-nObama's watch. The NSA is so thorough in it's listening to conversations and capturing emails. Why didn't they capture this, Napolitano asked. Why didn't they FBI know about what was going on? If you know, Jim Comey, that this is happening - why did't you stop it?! This happened on liar-nObama's watch, he said...  http://greatamericandaily.com/secret-about-russia-fbi-wanted-to-keep-buried/

Many of the new services will be funded or staffed by UCLA under an agreement that allows its baseball stadium to remain on VA property but allows veterans to use the facility. VA Secretary Robert McDonald and attorney Ron Olson announced the plan, which is part of last year’s legal settlement between veterans and the VA, at the West Los Angeles campus. “It’s with the strength of our partnerships and the momentum from the last year that allows me to announce today that we have finalized the master plan for the future use of VA’s 388 acres here in LA,” McDonald said. “Veterans of Los Angeles deserve a VA campus that can be a home for those who need one or a home away from home for those who come here for their medical care.”...   https://www.legion.org/homelessveterans/230977/west-los-angeles-va-finally-returning-homeless-mission?utm_source=deployer&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=corruption+chronicles&utm_term=members&utm_content=20180303212918

by Pat Buchanan
{ townhall.com } ~ "We got China wrong. Now what?" ran the headline over the column in The Washington Post.

"Remember how American engagement with China was going to make that communist backwater more like the democratic, capitalist West?" asked Charles Lane in his opening sentence.

America's elites believed that economic engagement and the opening of U.S. markets would cause the People's Republic to coexist benignly with its neighbors and the West.

We deluded ourselves. It did not happen.

Xi Jinping just changed China's constitution to allow him to be dictator for life. He continues to thieve intellectual property from U.S. companies and to occupy and fortify islets in the South China Sea, which Beijing now claims as entirely its own.

Meanwhile, China sustains North Korea as Chinese warplanes and warships circumnavigate Taiwan threatening its independence.

We today confront a Chinese Communist dictatorship and superpower that seeks to displace America as first power on earth, and to drive the U.S. military back across the Pacific.

Who is responsible for this epochal blunder?

The elites of both parties. Bush Republicans from the 1990s granted China most-favored-nation status and threw open America's market.

Result: China has run up $4 trillion in trade surpluses with the United States. Her $375 billion trade surplus with us in 2017 far exceeded the entire Chinese defense budget.

We fed the tiger, and created a monster.

Why? What is in the mind of Western man that our leaders continue to adopt policies rooted in hopes unjustified by reality?

Recall. Stalin was a murderous tyrant unrivaled in history whose victims in 1939 were 1,000 times those of Adolf Hitler, with whom he eagerly partnered in return for the freedom to rape the Baltic States and bite off half of Poland.

When Hitler turned on Stalin, the Bolshevik butcher rushed to the West for aid. Churchill and FDR hailed him in encomiums that would have made Pericles blush. At Yalta, Churchill rose to toast the butcher:

"I walk through this world with greater courage and hope when I find myself in a relation of friendship and intimacy with this great man, whose fame has gone out not only over all Russia, but the world. ... We regard Marshal Stalin's life as most precious to the hopes and hearts of all of us."

Returning home, Churchill assured a skeptical Parliament, "I know of no Government which stands to its obligations, even in its own despite, more solidly than the Russian Soviet Government."

George W. Bush, with the U.S. establishment united behind him, invaded Iraq with the goal of creating a Vermont in the Middle East that would be a beacon of democracy to the Arab and Islamic world.

Ex-Director of the NSA Gen. William Odom correctly called the U.S. invasion the greatest strategic blunder in American history. But Bush, un-chastened, went on to preach a crusade for democracy with the goal of "ending tyranny in our world."

What is the root of these astounding beliefs -- that Stalin would be a partner for peace, that if we built up Mao's China she would become benign and benevolent, that we could reshape Islamic nations into replicas of Western democracies, that we could eradicate tyranny?

Today, we are replicating these historic follies.

After our victory in the Cold War, we not only plunged into the Middle East to remake it in our image, we issued war guarantees to every ex-member state of the Warsaw Pact, and threatened Russia with war if she ever intervened again in the Baltic Republics.

No Cold War president would have dreamed of issuing such an in-your-face challenge to a great nuclear power like Russia.

If Putin's Russia does not become the pacifist nation it has never been, these guarantees will one day be called. And America will either back down -- or face a nuclear confrontation.

Why would we risk something like this?

Consider this crazed ideology of free trade globalism with its roots in the scribblings of 19th-century idiot savants, not one of whom ever built a great nation.

Adhering religiously to free trade dogma, we have run up $12 trillion in trade deficits since Bush I. Our cities have been gutted by the loss of plants and factories. Workers' wages have stagnated. The economic independence Hamilton sought and Republican presidents from Lincoln to McKinley achieved is history.

But the greatest risk we are taking, based on utopianism, is the annual importation of well over a million legal and illegal immigrants, many from the failed states of the Third World, in the belief we can create a united, peaceful and harmonious land of 400 million, composed of every race, religion, ethnicity, tribe, creed, culture and language on earth.

Where is the historic evidence for the success of this experiment, the failure of which could mean the end of America as one nation and one people?

{ lidblog.com } ~ In the wake of the horrible mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas... the left quickly moved to blame the National Rifle Association (NRA) for the violence, and have been pushing for a  NRA boycott. Why? The NRA is among the most famous conservative organizations in America, and they specifically defend every Americans’ 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms. For this reason, the NRA has always been a target of the left, and will likely continue to be a target for as long as they continue to fight for our liberty. However, the reality is that the NRA has nothing to do with such terrible crimes as the shooting we saw at Douglas High School. The NRA is actually a collection of some 5 – 14 million American citizens who spend their money and their time defending every Americans’ liberty. This truth hasn’t done anything to slow the hatred and vitriol being spewed by the left... https://lidblog.com/nra-boycott-companies-crashing-burning/

Since its inception, Tides has moved billions of dollars through its various finely-tuned charity machines known as “donor-advised funds,” or DAFs. DAFs operate like a savings account for donors; donors deposit funds, then choose the leftist groups the Tides Foundations supports with those funds. There are similar giving vehicles, like Vanguard Charitable or Fidelity Charitable, that do not have any ideological leanings, and others, like DonorsTrust, that are commonly used by right-of-center funders. One of Tides’ more successful ventures is the Advocacy Fund formerly the Tides Advocacy Fund. Unlike its 501(c)(3) cousin, the Advocacy Fund is classified by the IRS as a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization, freeing it to lobby for “high impact legislative and political campaigns,” according to its website. And it’s very successful—as of 2015, federal filings reveal $10.2 million in functional expenses and $9.6 in annual revenues, with grants going to organizations such as the Sierra Club and the League of Conservation Voters... https://capitalresearch.org/article/why-does-the-advocacy-fund-hide-its-tides-funding/?blm_aid=73364

There is No There There
by Caroline Glick
{ truthrevolt.org } ~ One of the distressing aspects of the police probes against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is that police seem to be attributing criminality to normal policy-making.

To date, the Bezeq-Walla investigation, dubbed Case 4000 by the police, is being presented as the mother lode – the probe that will sink Netanyahu.

Case 4000 exploded last week with pre-dawn arrests of some of the most powerful people in Israel.

Telecommunications giant Bezeq’s owner Shaul Elovitch, his wife, Iris, and their son Or were nabbed in their beds. So was Netanyahu’s former communications chief Nir Hefetz and former director-general of the Communications Ministry and Netanyahu confidante Shlomo Filber.

The headlines screamed “Bribery!” And the reports were no calmer.

The media reported that the police have hard evidence Netanyahu and Filber colluded to give Netanyahu’s crony Elovitch hundreds of millions of shekels in tax and regulatory breaks for Bezeq. In exchange, Elovitch, who also owns the popular Walla Internet site, agreed to give positive coverage of Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, on Walla’s news site.

Before we could consider the evidence, Netanyahu’s fate was sealed. He was a goner.

But when the smoke cleared, it became apparent that there isn’t anything there.

Netanyahu and Filber did give Bezeq and its subsidiary, satellite television provider Yes, regulatory and tax breaks.
On the regulatory side, the Communications Ministry agreed to end the forced separation between the two commonly owned corporations.

As Eli Zippori noted last Friday in Globes, far from being a criminal conspiracy, the move was perfectly sound policy. By allowing the two companies to work together, the government improved the lot of consumers. Together they could offer the public discounted service bundles that include landlines, Internet service and television service.

Moreover, in exchange for permitting them to work together, Bezeq agreed to permit private Internet providers to operate off of its communications infrastructure. Today, Zippori noted, 550,000 Israelis receive Internet through such services.

Would another policy move have brought better results for the public? Maybe. But that doesn’t mean this policy was wrong or criminal.

As for the tax breaks, it is true that Yes received hundreds of millions in tax relief. Yet as Zippori noted, Yes’s corporate losses topped a billion shekels. The Income Tax Authority routinely gives tax relief to corporations that lose money. And the higher the losses, the higher the tax break.

Would it have been better for the government to discriminate against Yes? Maybe. But that doesn’t mean this policy was wrong or criminal.

So the case that spells Netanyahu’s doom is no case at all. It’s a policy dispute. It isn’t surprising that the police are trying to criminalize Netanyahu’s policies in Case 4000. They’re doing the same thing in Case 1000 and in Case 3000.

Case 1000 involves Netanyahu’s support for amending the so-called Milchan law. The law, passed in 2008 under the Olmert government, provides a 10-year income tax and reporting exemption for overseas income. The law was passed to encourage wealthy expatriates and immigrants to move to Israel. It is called the Milchan law because businessman Arnon Milchan pushed very hard to get it passed.

In 2013, Milchan sought to extend the law’s exemptions to 20 years. Netanyahu supported its extension.

The police allege that Netanyahu’s support for the law’s extension owes to the fact that Milchan gave him free cigars for a decade or so. The problem with the police’s claim is that Netanyahu’s position reflects the same economic positions he has held for decades. Moreover, his position was shared by the Immigration and Absorption Ministry, which like him, supported the law and the proposed amendment because it encouraged immigration of wealthy individuals and capital flows into Israel.

Then-finance minister Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid is the star witness against Netanyahu. Although like Netanyahu, Lapid and Milchan are old friends, and Lapid met with Milchan twice about the proposed amendment, Lapid eventually bowed to his ministry’s position that the law induced money laundering and is therefore problematic.

Was Netanyahu’s position wrong? Did the Finance Ministry’s position serve the public’s interest better? Maybe. But that doesn’t mean his policy was wrong or criminal.

In Case 3000, Netanyahu is accused of basing his support for Israel’s purchase of German submarines on his cronies’ monetary interests. Netanyahu’s attorney and cousin David Shimron represented the German shipyard.

The problem with this claim is that Netanyahu has publicly supported expanding and modernizing Israel’s submarine fleet for 20 years.

True, some senior officials in the IDF and the Defense Ministry oppose expanding Israel’s submarine fleet. Their position is not without merit. But that doesn’t mean that Netanyahu’s position was wrong or criminal.

Yet in all of these cases, the police leakers are telling the media that Netanyahu’s policy positions were criminal acts. Rather than reject these claims as absurd on their face, and recognize that they contradict the basic values of a free society, the media have been mindlessly parroting them.

Which brings us to Case 2000 and the second half of Case 4000.

These investigations revolve around the premise that Netanyahu engaged in criminal activity when he sought to receive less hostile coverage from the Yediot Aharonot media group and from Walla news portal.

Yediot publisher Arnon Mozes and Elovitch are accused of offering bribes to Netanyahu in the form of better coverage in exchange for governmental support for their business interests. In Mozes’s case, he asked Netanyahu to act against Israel Hayom, Yediot’s primary competitor. In Elovitch’s case, Netanyahu allegedly agreed to provide Bezeq/Yes with regulatory and tax breaks in exchange for supportive coverage in Walla.

There are two problems with these allegations. First, Yediot’s implacably hostile coverage of Netanyahu never improved. And, as an inquiry at Mida website this week demonstrated, like Yediot, Walla’s coverage of Netanyahu is relentlessly negative.

Investigations 2000 and 4000 are predicated on a draconian premise that rejects the very notion of freedom of speech and expression. The premise is that any time a reporter writes about a public figure, he is offering that public figure a bribe. His expectation in writing his article is that at some point, the politician will pay him back for his work.

Conversely, if a reporter writes negatively about a public figure, he is extorting him. Under this premise, Mozes and Elovitch gave Netanyahu bad coverage because that gave them a bargaining chip against him. In exchange for better coverage, they could expect him to do something for them.

In other words, these probes assume that all reporting is inherently corrupt and criminal.

All of the police probes suffer from another problem – they all scream out selective law enforcement.

As Zippori notes, whereas Case 4000 is premised on the notion that a pro-business regulatory environment is inherently criminal, investigators never probed an even larger tax break the Communications Ministry conferred on Yes’s top competitor, the HOT cable television provider.

According to Zippori, HOT received tax breaks totaling more than a billion shekels over several years. It received these tax breaks despite the fact that it failed to abide by its obligation to provide cable service throughout Israel.

During the period HOT received the tax breaks, Mozes and his partner Eliezer Fishman were major shareholders in the company. The tax breaks continued when Mozes’s close friend Patrick Drahi bought their shares.

In other words, Netanyahu and Filber are being treated like Al Capone for giving standard tax breaks to Yes, which is owned by his friend Elovitch. Fliber’s predecessor Avi Berger gave tax breaks to Netanyahu’s nemesis Mozes, and the media is treating him like a principled professional.
This brings us back to Case 2000. Netanyahu is accused of accepting a bribe of good coverage from Mozes and in exchange working to curtail the operations of Israel Hayom, Mozes’s chief competitor. Never mind that Netanyahu did no such thing, and preferred to bring down his own government in 2014 rather than harm Israel Hayom.

Forty-three members of Knesset voted in favor of the “Israel Hayom bill” that would have shut down Mozes’s competitor. They are not under investigation.

Lapid, the star witness against Netanyahu in the Milchan law probe, met twice with his old friend Milchan to discuss the law during his tenure as finance minister. Lapid never reported his meetings.

And he’s the star witness against Netanyahu, not the subject of a probe.

Lapid’s Yesh Atid party went out of its way to advance Mozes’s financial interests. Not only did more than half of Yesh Atid lawmakers vote for the “Israel Hayom bill.” Lapid’s ministers – then-education minister Shai Piron, then-minister of social affairs Meir Cohen and then-science minister Yaakov Peri, paid Yediot millions of shekels from their ministries’ budgets for advertising.

And they all received fantastic coverage.

And none of them is under investigation.

The final problem with the investigations of Netanyahu is that as we saw this week, the police’s openly obsessive desire to “get” Bibi is corrupting the law enforcement and judicial community.

This week Channel 10 published text messages sent between magistrate’s court judge Ronit Poznansky-Katz and Israel Securities Authority investigator Eran Shaham-Shavit. In their text exchange, the two discussed and agreed on the length of continued confinement of suspects detained in Case 4000.

It is possible to read their exchange, in which they discuss the police investigators’ obsession with keeping the suspects remanded to jail, as friendly banter. It is also possible to interpret their text exchanges more critically. Shaham-Shavit wrote: Police investigators “almost beat me up or arrested me.” He angered them because he supported releasing the suspects earlier than the police investigators did. Poznansky-Katz’s responded sympathetically, “I think there is nothing scarier than that.”

It’s easy to read this as two colleagues commiserating about out of control police investigators ready to run over anyone who stands between them and their prey – Prime Minister Netanyahu.

However you interpret their exchange, the fact is that their messages were a crime. They coordinated Poznansky-Katz’s rulings before the defendants were allowed to present their cases. Yet, whereas Netanyahu’s advisers and friends are treated like mafia bosses for advancing legal policies, Poznansky-Katz and Shaham-Shavit were let off with administrative slaps on their wrists.
And we’re supposed to believe in the justice system.

It is easy to get swept away in the flood of prejudicial leaks and biased reporting that have already indicted, tried and pronounced Netanyahu’s guilt. But when you analyze the actual cases being assembled against him, it becomes clear that not only is there nothing there, these probes themselves represent an unprecedented assault on the basic norms of Israel.

{ rickwells.us } ~ CNN propagandist Wolf Blitzer often plays video clips of past statements when he is asking an uncomfortable question of a guest... to make it more difficult for them to lie in their response. He didn’t do that when questioning his fellow leftist, Senator Chuck clown-Schumer, who denied his own words that are not only on video but are part of the Senate record, having been spoken during a speech from the lectern on the Senate floor. The statement that clown-Schumer falsely denies ever having made involves his declaration that he would vote against confirming Marvin Quattlebaum as a US District Court Judge for South Carolina because he is a white man. clown-Schumer now claims he never made the racist and sexist remarks which is a blatant lie, easily proven in a video at this link. In his attempt to lie his way out of the mess he created, clown-Schumer goes into one of his typical lying leftist spins, telling Blitzer, “I didn’t say that. Yeah, that was right-wing radio, who never really tells the truth distorting what I said.” Were it a Republican Blitzer was attempting to question, this is the point where he would interrupt and ask them to watch the clip proving otherwise. Instead Blitzer just stood by and let the lies flow... https:///schumer-lies-white-boy/

{ jewishworldreview.com } ~ Law enforcement officials in the nation's capital, which draws millions of visitors each year, are expanding parking restrictions around special events to protect pedestrians and crowds from terror-inspired attacks where vehicles are used as weapons.

The city has been assessing new measures to prevent attacks like those seen in New York and London in the past year, where attackers used trucks and other vehicles to mow down pedestrians.

City police are establishing new parking rules along race and parade routes beginning this month. The new restrictions will affect the Rock and Roll Marathon on March 10; the annual event draws as many as 25,000 runners and thousands more spectators. Police say the goal is to ensure everyone's safety.

"With the advent of vehicle attacks that we have seen in the United States and around the world there is a necessity to implement parking restrictions which include removing all vehicles along special event routes, particularly during races and parades," D.C. police said in a statement.

The changes are likely to be painful for drivers who will be forced to move their vehicles before events in a city with a limited parking inventory.

"We understand that this measure can be inconvenient for some residents and visitors, but we are convinced it is the best practice for protecting citizens from being injured or killed," D.C. police said. "The goal is to ensure the safety and security of special event participants, spectators, residents, and visitors in Washington, D.C."

Parking is already scarce near the monuments, in downtown and in other popular neighborhoods and the new restrictions are likely to make it even more challenging. Security concerns have prompted parking restrictions in the city before. The Secret Service closed the two-block area of Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House to traffic to ward off truck traffic in the mid-1990s due to security scares and in the wake of the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center and the April 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

"Parking is an endangered species in Washington, D.C. Once you lose a parking space, it is gone forever, never to be replaced, recouped or regained," said John Townsend, a spokesman for AAA Mid-Atlantic.

The new restrictions, he said, are likely to have an impact on traffic patterns, city residents and tourists.

A rise in the number of attacks where vehicles were used as weapons in recent years has alarmed officials in cities around the U.S. and the world. In June, attackers using a vehicle and knives killed eight people and wounded dozens more on London Bridge. A few weeks later in an incident nearby, a man drove into people leaving mosques after Ramadan services, killing one and injuring 10.

In October a man drove a truck into a crowd of pedestrians and bicyclists on a New York City bike path, killing eight people and injuring a dozen more. Last May, a man driving in New York's Times Square plowed into a crowd during lunchtime, killing one person and injuring 22. While authorities said the incident was not terrorism, the Islamic State, inspired by the crash, used it to warn that more attacks on the nation's largest city and popular tourist destinations would follow.

Bollards and security barriers, as well as increased police presence at events, are among some of the strategies that cities are using to guard against such attacks. Seven hundred bollards were planned to be installed along the Las Vegas Strip at a cost of $5 million in what has been called "a matter of life and death" to provide protection. Although there is no specific threat, authorities said that recent terrorist propaganda featuring snapshots of the Las Vegas Strip cannot be overlooked. Each barrier is designed to resist a 15,000-pound, 30-foot vehicle, officials said.

Other cities have increased security, while advocates have called for more investment in barriers to prevent vehicles from entering spaces with heavy pedestrian traffic.

In Washington, officials say they too are studying various measures to prepare for such attacks. But law enforcement, transportation and other city leaders have declined to discuss specific tactics or any investments in protective measures.

D.C. Council member Charles Allen, who chairs the panel's public safety committee has said the city must prepare by making "reasonable and smart and strategic investments" in bollards and other tools to protect residents, but it is unreasonable to expect the city will install such measures in every block, or that residents will be walking behind a row of jersey barriers.

"As we think about that, it's also important that we have a conversation as well about what type of city are we and what types of choices do we want to make," Allen said during a council oversight hearing last week. Should bollards be on every street? he asked Christopher Rodriguez, director of the city's homeland security and emergency management agency.

"The attacks that we are seeing that are happening around the country and around the world, can happen at any time and at any place," Rodriguez said. He said there is merit in considering strategic locations across Washington where bollards might be needed, but a city plan has to be more comprehensive, understanding that as in the Manchester suicide bombing, bollards alone couldn't prevent an attack.

"All you need is one individual to walk into a crowd and ignite a device," he said.

{ rickwells.us } ~ There’s a pecking order in the globalist, establishment uniparty, and Condoleezza Rice demonstrated on Thursday’s edition of “The View,”... that she and Robert Mueller are on the top and that scum-Adam Schiff is an ankle biter. She’s encouraging him to find a different tree to bark up. She turned the always smug Bobble-Head’s smirk into a picture of humiliation in a matter of seconds. But it’s much more than a simple matter of Rice’s superior intellect and testosterone levels. Perhaps she’s paving the way for scum-Schiff and his inquisitors to head off in another direction with the Russia, Russia, Russia now obviously going nowhere. It’s pointing back at the deep state and swamp creatures so it’s time to move elsewhere. Maybe she’s helping to set the stage for Mueller to enter the next phase, having used the false premise of Russia as a foot in the door, a means to get into the Trump business activity, the original plan of attack, and is now, with her strong endorsement of Mueller, giving them room to make that transition... https://rickwells.us/globalist-rice-schiff-place/

{ thenewamerican.com } ~ The Uranium One scandal is the gift that keeps on giving: Each new revelation continues to show more and more just how deep the rabbit hole of liar-Clinton corruption goes... An FBI informant has informed several congressional committees that during liar-Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state and leading up to her approval of the deal that handed over control of at least 20 percent of U.S. uranium reserves to Russia, Moscow assigned 10 spies in the United States to cozy up to liar-Clinton to guarantee the deal. And when it came to the attention of the FBI, liar-Clinton had some big names help keep it under wraps. Coming in the midst of the Battle of the Memos — with the House Intelligence Committee releasing both a Republican memo detailing FISA abuses by the DOJ and FBI as part of those agencies’ spying on the Trump campaign and a Democratic memo attempting to dispute those claims — this revelation shines a new light on the question of just who was “Putin’s puppet.” liar-Clinton claimed during her failed presidential campaign that Trump was beholden to Moscow and she received the gleeful help of the liberal mainstream media and the intelligence establishment in spreading that claim. It now seems clear — because of both the lack of anything resembling evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia and the fact that the Russian spies assigned to liar-Hillarly Clinton appear to have succeeded in their task — that it was liar-Hillary Clinton and not Donald Trump who was beholden to Moscow...  https://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/crime/item/28395-russians-bragged-about-10-spies-assigned-to-clinton-mueller-mccabe-and-rosenstein-helped-cover-it-up

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross
Discusses Steel Tariffs: “People Are
Exaggerating Considerably”
by sundance

{ theconservativetreehouse.com } ~ The professional financial class are going bananas at the steel and aluminum tariffs being implemented by the Trump administration...
As expected, most of the apoplectic drum-beating is coming from the Wall Street crowd. This same Wall Street crowd conveniently overlooks that last year the EU imposed even HIGHER tariffs on steel and aluminum than the Trump administration is proposing now. Laughably this group of talking heads is pitching the trade and economic position of Canada  and the EU in their talking points. However, the hypocrisy is off the charts.  If you think the professional financial class are over-the-top now, just wait until the administration pulls out of NAFTA. These are the battles that matter. The administration is directly over the target. The multinational corporate crowd, including their corporately owned media, are pushing a fundamentally false set of talking points; their economic dishonesty reflects their desperation...   https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2018/03/02/commerce-secretary-wilbur-ross-discusses-steel-tariffs-people-are-exaggerating-considerably/.

by Cal Thomas
{ townhall.com } ~ Of all the promises candidate Donald Trump made during the 2016 presidential campaign, none will be more difficult to fulfill than cutting the size and cost of the federal government. That's because Congress, which must decide whether to keep a federal agency, has the final word in such matters and spending, especially spending in one's home state or district, is what keeps so many of them in office. Who doubts that self-preservation is the primary objective of most members of Congress?

Ronald Reagan made similar promises about reducing the size of the bloated federal government, but was unable to fulfill them because of congressional intransigence. Perhaps his most notable failure was attempting to eliminate the Department of Education, an unnecessary Cabinet-level agency created by Jimmy Carter, reportedly as the fulfillment of a campaign promise to the National Education Association (NEA), the largest labor union in the United States, which backed him in the 1976 and 1980 elections. This pithy statement by Reagan got to the heart of the issue: "No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!"

President Trump has asked every federal agency to submit a reorganization plan to the White House. Some programs, like the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) Biological Survey Unit (BSU), are decades old. The BSU was established in 1885, and among its tasks is the preservation of the whooping crane. Last I checked those birds seemed to be doing OK, but why is this, along with so many other things, a responsibility of the federal government?

Reorganization of these outmoded and unnecessary programs and agencies should not be the goal. Elimination should be the goal. Unless they are killed off, the risk of their return is likely.

What's needed is a strategy that shames Congress, which sometimes seems beyond shame, for misspending the people's money. What will help in that shaming is for the president to establish an independent commission made up of retired Republicans, Democrats and average citizens. This commission would conduct a top-to-bottom audit of the federal government and present its findings to Congress, while simultaneously releasing them to the public, which would then apply pressure on Congress to adopt them.

The commission would be modeled after the Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) of the '80s, which eliminated military bases that were no longer needed for the defense of the country. Some members of Congress complained about BRAC, but in the end they could not justify maintaining the bases.

The president might want to start with some of these ridiculous programs recently highlighted by Thomas A. Schatz, president of Citizens Against Government Waste, a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization whose mission it is "to eliminate waste, fraud, abuse and mismanagement in government."

"Without authorization," notes Schatz, "the feds spent $19.6 million annually on the International Fund for Ireland. Sounds like a noble cause, but the money went for projects like pony-trekking centers and golf videos.

"Congressional budget-cutters spared the $440,000 spent annually to have attendants push buttons on the fully automated Capitol Hill elevators used by representatives and senators.

"Last year, the National Endowment for the Humanities spent $4.2 million to conduct a nebulous 'National Conversation on Pluralism and Identity.' Obviously, talk radio wasn't considered good enough.

"The Pentagon and Central Intelligence Agency channeled some $11 million to psychics who might provide special insights about various foreign threats. This was the disappointing 'Stargate' program."

The list goes on and on. Go to cagw.org, read all about it and remember it's our money paying for these boondoggles definition: "a project funded by the federal government out of political favoritism that is of no real value to the community or the nation" that helps keep our free-spending career politicians in office where they get benefits the rest of us can only dream about.

Yes, entitlements are the main drivers of debt and they, too, need reform. But starting with programs most people would find outrageous and worthy of elimination is a good way to build confidence and make the tackling of entitlements more palatable.

{ rickwells.us } ~ Marine Le Pen, who lost the election for President of France last year to Emmanuel Macron... is facing potential jail time for exposing the truth about terrorists. She posted three photographs depicting ISIS murdering innocent people. Telling the truth about terrorists is mean and could hurt their feelings. In conducting the elaborate and deliberate political hit, the French national assembly first voted in November to strip Le Pen of her parliamentary immunity. Now they’re mimicking the terrorists they admire and going in for the kill. On Thursday a judge in Nanterre charged Le Pen with circulating “violent messages that incite terrorism or pornography or seriously harm human dignity”, and that can be viewed by a minor. So in France, under the libtard regime, exposing terrorism is considered inciting it and revealing publicly the serious, deadly harm being done by terrorists is committing the worse crime of harming their dignity...  This is so unbelievable. https://rickwells.us/le-pen-crime-exposing-isis/

{ theconservativetreehouse.com } ~ This evening House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes sends a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions... questioning the protocol and legality of a fraudulent FISA application submitted by the FBI.  This approach sets up AG Sessions to defer the legal framework to OIG Michael Horowitz, and establishes the public basis for parallel prosecutors within the DOJ. However, keep in mind, it’s extremely likely, almost certain, these prosecutors already exist – they are already working with Horowitz.  Evidence of this is found in the memo quotes from Bill Priestap, but those not following the granular details are unaware. In the letter to AG Jeff Sessions, Nunes is requesting the DOJ provide answers to what his committee calls “clear violations of FBI protocols” in obtaining the FISA Title-1 warrant against Carter Page on October 26th, 2016...  https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2018/03/01/devin-nunes-questions-legality-of-fbi-fisa-application-to-attorney-general-jeff-sessions/

{ foxnews.com } ~ A Republican senator is pressing for answers on why the FBI waited weeks to act after the 2016 discovery of thousands of emails...
on ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner's laptop that potentially were relevant to the liar-Hillary Clinton email investigation. Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson, R-Wis., fired off a letter Thursday to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein asking about the timeline, citing texts between two key FBI investigators. The messages, first reported by The Wall Street Journal in late January, indicate that top bureau officials were aware of the discovery of thousands of emails from Weiner well before the FBI sought a search warrant in late October, and effectively revived the liar-Clinton probe right before the election...

by Ann Coulter
{ freedomsback.com } ~ Nikolas Cruz's psychosis ended in a bloody massacre not only because of the stunning incompetence of the Broward County Sheriff's Department. It was also the result of liberal insanity working exactly as it was intended to.

School and law enforcement officials knew Cruz was a ticking time bomb. They did nothing because of a deliberate, willful, bragged-about policy to end the "school-to-prison pipeline." This is the feature part of the story, not the bug part.

If Cruz had taken out full-page ads in the local newspapers, he could not have demonstrated more clearly that he was a dangerous psychotic. He assaulted students, cursed out teachers, kicked in classroom doors, started fist fights, threw chairs, threatened to kill other students, mutilated small animals, pulled a rifle on his mother, drank gasoline and cut himself, among other "red flags."

Over and over again, students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School reported Cruz's terrifying behavior to school administrators, including Kelvin Greenleaf, "security specialist," and Peter Mahmood, head of JROTC.

At least three students showed school administrators Cruz's near-constant messages threatening to kill them -- e.g., "I am going to enjoy seeing you down on the grass," "Im going to watch ypu bleed," "iam going to shoot you dead” — including one that came with a photo of Cruz’s guns. They warned school authorities that he was bringing weapons to school. They filed written reports.

Threatening to kill someone is a felony. In addition to locking Cruz away for a while, having a felony record would have prevented him from purchasing a gun.

All the school had to do was risk Cruz not going to college, and depriving Yale University of a Latino class member, by reporting a few of his felonies -- and there would have been no mass shooting.

But Cruz was never arrested. He wasn't referred to law enforcement. He wasn't even expelled.

Instead, Cruz was just moved around from school to school -- six transfers in three years. But he was always sent back to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, in order to mainstream him, so that he could get a good job someday!

The moronic idea behind the "school-to-prison pipeline" is that the only reason so many "black and brown bodies" are in prison is because they were disciplined in high school, diminishing their opportunities. End the discipline and ... problem solved!

It's like "The Wizard of Oz" in reverse. The Wizard told the Scarecrow: You don't need an education, you just need a diploma! The school-to-prison pipeline idiocy tells students: You don't need to behave in high school, you just need to leave with no criminal record!

Of course, killjoys will say that removing the consequences of bad behavior only encourages more bad behavior. But that's not the view of Learned Professionals, who took summer courses at Michigan State Ed School.

In a stroke of genius, they realized that the only problem criminals have is that people keep lists of their criminal activities. It's the list that prevents them from getting into M.I.T. and designing space stations on Mars. Where they will cure cancer.

This primitive, stone-age thinking was made official Broward County policy in a Nov. 5, 2013, agreement titled "Collaborative Agreement on School Discipline."

The first "whereas" clause of the agreement states that "the use of arrests and referrals to the criminal justice system may decrease a student's chance of graduation, entering higher education, joining the military and getting a job."

Get it? It's the arrest -- not the behavior that led to the arrest -- that reduces a student's chance at a successful life. (For example, just look at how much the district's refusal to arrest Nikolas Cruz helped him!

The agreement's third "whereas” clause specifically cites "students of color" as victims of the old, racist policy of treating criminal behavior criminally.

Say, in the middle of a drive to cut back on the arrest or expulsion of "students of color," how do you suppose the school dealt with a kid named "Nikolas Cruz"? Might there be some connection between his Hispanic last name and the school's abject refusal to do anything about Cruz's repeated criminal behavior?

Just a few months ago, the superintendent of Broward County Public Schools, Robert W. Runcie, was actually bragging about how student arrests had plummeted under his bold leadership.

When he took over in 2011, the district had "the highest number of school-related arrests in the state." But today, he boasted, Broward has "one of the lowest rates of arrest in the state." By the simple expedient of ignoring criminal behavior, student arrests had declined by a whopping 78 percent.

FOOTBALL COACH: "When I took over this team a year ago, we were last in the league in pass defense. Today, we no longer keep that statistic!"

When it comes to spectacular crimes, it's usually hard to say how it could have been prevented. But in this case, we have a paper trail. In the pursuit of a demented ideology, specific people agreed not to report, arrest or prosecute dangerous students like Nikolas Cruz.

These were the parties to the Nov. 5, 2013, agreement that ensured Cruz would be out on the street with full access to firearms:

Robert W. Runcie, Superintendent of Schools

Peter M. Weinstein, Chief Judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit

Michael J. Satz, State Attorney

Howard Finkelstein, Public Defender

Scott Israel, Broward County Sheriff

Franklin Adderley, Chief of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department

Wansley Walters, Secretary of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice

Marsha Ellison, President of the Fort Lauderdale Branch of the NAACP and Chair of the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board

Nikolas Cruz may be crazy, but the parties to that agreement are crazy, too. They decided to make high school students their guinea pigs for an experiment based on a noxious ideology. The blood of 17 people is on their hands.

TheDCNF, under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), requested records of all meetings between Comey and liar-nObama and sought an “expedited process” as provided under the act when issues are of great interest to the media and the records address issues pertaining to government integrity. { dailycaller.com } ~ The chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence... is accusing the FBI of a “clear violation” of its internal rules and procedures over its applications for spy warrants against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. In a letter sent Thursday to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation, California Rep. Devin Nunes wrote that using the unverified Steele dossier violates the bureau’s requirements that only “documented and verified” information may be used in applications to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Court. Nunes also asserted that someone at the bureau may have broken the law by violating the procedures. The Republican’s letter cited the most recent version of the FBI’s Domestic Investigations and Operations Guide to make the case...   http://dailycaller.com/2018/03/01/internal-fbi-documents-steele-dossier/?utm_medium=email

Trump Shoots From the Hip on Gun Policy

45NNEzuqu4s_qih2jZNXSwwS7yEMpdCDKYNuKBZW88jHbtRF46ZtntKW2A6df99lh39mnNdRSv26I5Ya28PYg6hwUzZMnWY1GNcdB4Ftg8G7Q55SFlolc9C6R7APzs8=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=450
by Nate Jackson:  President Donald Trump held a televised meeting with lawmakers Wednesday to discuss gun measures. Don’t panic, but there’s plenty to criticize, so we’ll quote him and then get to that criticism.

The statement Trump made that’s rightly getting the most attention is this: “Take the guns first, go through due process second.”
It was a retort to Vice President Mike Pence, who addressed the concept of gun violence restraining orders, which provide an avenue for law enforcement to take away guns from potentially violent individuals after proper court proceedings. “Allow due process, so that no one’s rights are trampled,” Pence said. Trump interrupted by seeming to chuck the Fourth Amendment, too. “Or, Mike, take the firearms first and then go to court,” he said. “Because a lot of times, by the time you go to court, it takes so long to go to court, to get the due process procedures. I like taking the guns early, like in this crazy man’s case that just took place in Florida. … To go to court would have taken a long time.
Trump wasn’t done. “It would be so beautiful to have one bill that everybody could support as opposed to, you know, 15 bills,” he said. What did he mean? He was referring to previously defeated background check measures and mental health provisions, for starters. But he even encouraged Sen. Dianne Fein-stein to throw in her ban on semi-automatic rifles: “Dianne, if you could add what you have also — and I think you can — into the bill…” She was utterly giddy at the prospect.
Evidently, however, that “so beautiful … one bill” has its limits. Trump rejected Rep. Steve Scalise’s proposal to include national concealed carry reciprocity (which the House has already passed) in the bill, saying, “If you add concealed carry to this, you’ll never get it passed. We want to get something done.
“What surprises me more than anything else is that nothing’s been done for all of these years,” Trump marveled. “Because I really see a lot of common ground. … It’s time that a president stepped up.”
Trump still wasn’t done. His next target was the NRA. Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA), who sponsored some of the aforementioned background check legislation, did not include a provision raising the age for rifle buyers, which the NRA opposes. Trump told him, “You know why? Because you’re afraid of the NRA.” Trump continued, “They have great power over you people. They have less power over me. … Some of you people are petrified of the NRA. You can’t be petrified.
Whew — that was quite a barrage of rhetoric that should upset even the most ardent Trumpist. So, a few observations.
Regarding Trump’s dismissal of due process, Reason’s Nick Gillespie notes, “This comes from a president who only a few weeks ago wondered aloud on Twitter, ‘Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?’” That was when White House aide Rob Porter was under fire for domestic abuse. So there’s that.
Now? Due process is subject to his visceral and emotional response to a truly horrific school attack. Anybody who feels anything wants to prevent any such attack from ever happening again. Trump, with his ill-considered musings, wanted to show he cares that a guy who was known by law enforcement to be a threat was still able to obtain firearms and attack a school.
That said, even if we’re to take Trump “seriously but not literally,” and even if he merely expressed an idea poorly, authoritarian pronouncements are inexcusable.
The same goes for his nonsense about the NRA. Trump was elected in part with some heavy lifting by the NRA, but he rejects being seen as anyone’s tool. That he threw his fellow Republicans under the bus for standing for their own Second Amendment beliefs, however, is petty and pathetic.
As for the “get something done” line, Trump is a big-picture guy, and he’s looking at the November election thinking that it will be bad if Republicans once again “do nothing” on guns. He wants a deal, and the details matter less than the perception of a political “victory” for him.
For some parting thoughts, Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) said in a statement: “Strong leaders don’t automatically agree with the last thing that was said to them. We have the Second Amendment and due process of law for a reason. We’re not ditching any Constitutional protections simply because the last person the President talked to today doesn’t like them.
David Thornton writes, “It would be an unhappy irony for gun owners if Donald Trump, endorsed by the NRA even though he was a former Democrat who had supported gun control in the past, became the Republican president who overcame the gun lobby to enact the first significant gun control legislation since the 1990s. Stranger things have happened.”
Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) referred to Trump’s reality TV background when he said of the meeting, “I thought it was fascinating television.
“Many ideas, some good & some not so good, emerged from our bipartisan meeting on school safety yesterday at the White House,” Trump tweeted this morning. “Background Checks a big part of conversation. Gun free zones are proven targets of killers. After many years, a Bill should emerge. Respect 2nd Amendment!” Let’s hope he listens to his own advice.

It is noteworthy that that same Inspector General, Michael Horowitz, was involved in hiding government misconduct in the illegal intrusion and manipulation of data on the personal and work computers of former CBS correspondent Sharyl Attkisson while she was investigating the liar-nObama/liar-Clinton/scum-Soros Mafia actions in Benghazi. That is also the same IG who is supposedly also doing the “fair and objective” investigation into the sham liar-Clinton probe by Former FBI Director James Comey and the one that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein assured the members of the House Judiciary Committee that, while he couldn’t talk about it directly, they needed only to wait for the IG report and all of their questions would be answered. Rosenstein was questioned at the time as to why their own agents weren’t conducting an investigation... https://rickwells.us/ig-sessions-benghazi-attkisson/

The host couldn't have been clearer with her question: "I think, at this time, it's difficult for me and many Americans to differentiate between what is overhype and what isn't. You've said on more than one occasion that you've seen ample evidence of the Trump campaign's Russia collusion. Last March, you said you had more than circumstantial evidence of treasonous collusion with Russia. What specifically were you referring to? And please be specific, because if it's true, I do believe Americans have the right to know a year later what that is." scum-Schiff was wordy with his answer, yet he provided no reason to believe President Donald Trump colluded with Russia in order to rig the 2016 presidential election...   https://www.truthrevolt.org/news/meghan-mccain-asks-schiff-back-his-collusion-claims-he-cant

Arming Teachers Has a Lot of Merit

The response from the Left has been as expected — calls for banning many or all firearms in common use, stricter background checks, raising the legal age to purchase a firearm, boycotting the NRA, etc. Of course, it is hard to imagine how any of that would have stopped the perpetrator, a mentally unbalanced and homicidal young man.
After all, over the last two years, the killer had been disciplined in school 25 times, local police were summoned to his house 39 times, friends and neighbors had reported to police multiple times that he was collecting guns and had a desire to kill people, and the FBI had been warned twice about him — once after posting on social media that he wanted to become a “professional school shooter,” and once when a girl close to him warned that he was talking about killing people. In both instances the FBI failed to follow up. And that’s not to mention the failures of law enforcement at the scene.
To the shock and outrage of many on the Left, President Donald Trump proposed training and arming teachers and school staff. Their reaction was as immediate as it was predictable. Washington’s Democrat Governor Jay Inslee cried, “I have listened to the first-grade teachers that don’t want to be pistol-packing first-grade teachers. I’ve listened to law enforcement who have said they don’t want to have to train teachers. … Educators should educate and they should not be foisted upon this responsibility of packing heat in first-grade classes.
Gun control advocates call the idea of arming teachers “crazy,” arguing, “We need fewer guns, not more guns.” A New York Times editorial pointed to an analysis of shooting accuracy by NYPD officers — which claims they put only one-third of their shots on target under stress — as to why teachers should not be armed. But if that is the argument, wonders columnist Dennis Prager, isn’t that also an argument for disarming police?
Prager also points to an LA Times editorial that asked, “If a pistol-strapping chemistry teacher had grabbed her .45 and unloaded on today’s gunman after he killed, what, one student? Three? Five? That would be good news?” But isn’t one or three or five dead better than 17 dead?
MSDHS Coach Aaron Feis died a hero, bullets ripping through his body while shielding students from the attacker. Yet many who call him a hero also do not think he should have been armed. How many fewer would have died had Feis been able to return fire?
The root question is why leftists seem intent on protecting or appeasing evil while making it more difficult for the innocent to defend themselves. Leftists rage against micro-aggressions and mis-gendering while seeking to appease murderous Islamist radicals and totalitarian dictators. They tear down statues of Robert E. Lee but wear T-shirts celebrating Che Guevara.
Despite the hand-wringing and lamentations of the anti-Second Amendment Left, President Trump has not called for arming any teacher or school employee who does not want to be armed, nor has he called for any federal mandate, instead rightly noting that it’s a state issue. He has simply suggested we effectively train teachers and employees who do wish to carry in states and districts that allow it. Texas has more than 100 school districts that have done this already.
Some still argue that this would not be a deterrent, but is that true?Consider this: Is it coincidence, for example, that the theater chosen by the psychopath who killed 12 and wounded 58 in Aurora, Colorado, was the only one of seven theaters in a 20-minute drive from his house (and it was not the closest theater) that was a declared “gun free” zone?
No, it is no coincidence. According to the Crime Prevention Research Center, over 98% of all mass shootings since 1950 have occurred in designated “gun free” zones. That is also true even of military recruiting centers like the one attacked by a jihadi in Chattanooga in 2015.
These murderers want to kill as many people as possible before they are stopped. The disparity is so glaring that such places should instead be called “victim-rich zones.” If you have a friend who still disagrees, perhaps you could illustrate by buying them a “gun free household” sticker.
President Trump’s proposal has considerable merit, so long as the decision is left up to the states and the individual teachers who are trained and certified. For those so inclined, we should consider a salary bonus for those who are certified through a law-enforcement training course.
Even if only a few of the teachers and staff in a school signed up and qualified, it would be a deterrent. Any potential murderer with designs to kill our children would know that the response would be swift and deadly.
Armed, trained citizens protecting our innocent children. How could that possibly be a bad thing?

Democrats Go All In For State-Run,
Single-Payer Healthcare System

{ themadpatriots.com } ~ Republicans have eagerly moved on from the health care debacle that threatened to drag Donald Trump’s presidency to the depths of the sea in the first half of 2017...
and the repeal of the individual mandate as part of the tax bill has given them a little more breathing room politically. Alas, there is a danger of “half-fixing” the broken system known as liar-nObamacare; not only are premiums still forcing people out of the health insurance market but it is leaving the door open for Democrats to come back over the top with their own new plan. And according to Politico, that plan is going to be some form of single-payer, universal healthcare. The site spoke to former Senate staffer Jim Manley, who said, “I think it’s pretty clear that this is where we are going as a party. The party as a whole is becoming much more liberal.” You don’t say. We’re a little surprised that Democrats aren’t keeping this under wraps until after the midterms, since any switch to state-controlled universal healthcare would automatically mean an enormous increase in taxes. If they’re going to run on a higher tax platform while Republicans are out there touting the benefits of their shiny new cuts…well, all we can say is good luck with that. We don’t care if Trump is tried and hanged for treason as a last-minute October surprise, the Democrats aren’t going to win back Congress by stealing fresh money out of the pockets of the American people. Single-payer will bring out their do-nothing base, but it isn’t going to win over independents and Trump-wary Republicans...   http://www.themadpatriots.com/health-news/democrats-go-all-in-for-state-run-single-payer-healthcare-system/

{ townhall.com } ~ Nine months into his mandate to investigate possible Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, special counsel Robert Mueller has finally found some actual Russians to indict. Unfortunately, by pointing the finger at these Russians, he has exposed hypocrisy within the U.S. system.

Last year, Mueller's investigation produced indictments against four former Trump campaign advisors who had dealings with Russians during their international business careers before joining the campaign. Most of what those indictments covered could have fallen under the purview of the Internal Revenue Service and seemed out of place in a multimillion-dollar investigation into alleged electoral subversion.

But now, we actually have some indicted Russians -- 13 individuals who supposedly had a hand in the 2016 electoral outcome. How so? Primarily by screwing around on social media.

The U.S. Justice Department has charged these 13 Russian nationals with conspiracy to defraud the United States. Supposedly, the accused tried to pollute the sacred electronic institutions of truth that recently brought us fascinating but false political information such as "President Trump orders the execution of five turkeys pardoned by Obama" a story that provoked 914,429 social media interactions, according to a 2017 year-end analysis by Buzzfeed News.

Former FBI director Mueller's long arm of the law has reached into that pristine electronic river of democracy, which was also home to this viral Facebook post about his own former bureau: "FBI seizes over 3,000 penises during raid at morgue employee's home" 1,145,470 interactions. How lucky we are that Mueller and the Justice Department are saving us from any disinformation that those Russians might be spreading.

The 13 Russians are accused of creating "hundreds of social media accounts" under fake identities. They then allegedly pretended to be U.S.-based activists on social media, posting election-related opinions in an effort to influence the outcome in favor of Donald Trump and, during the primary elections, Democratic candidate commie-Bernie Sanders.

The indictment implies that the operation was linked to the Russian government, and that a St. Petersburg-based company called the Internet Research Agency failed to register as a foreign agent before purchasing paid advertisements on social media. Silly Russians -- you're supposed to pay a lobbying firm in Washington to do all that for you on the down-low.

There are obviously some slippery slopes here.

Does Mueller wish to set the precedent that foreigners can't exercise freedom of speech about another country's elections without it being considered a criminal act? If this standard were to be adopted by other countries, then U.S. government-funded media, State Department-funded NGOs or virtually any private contractor with a U.S. government contract could be subjected to prosecution by foreign governments. Such organizations wouldn't even necessarily have to operate on foreign soil, since the indictment makes it clear that periodic travel, a banking transaction or data passing through a server within the prosecuting country would justify a criminal charge.

James Woolsey, a former director of the CIA, was recently asked by Fox News host Laura Ingraham whether the U.S. interferes in other countries' elections, as the indictment accuses these Russians of doing.

"Well, only for a very good cause in the interests of democracy," Woolsey answered.

He added that such interference would be anti-communist in nature. That would be a valid excuse if it were 1980 and not 2018. Does this latest indictment mean that the U.S. will now butt out of the domestic politics of all foreign countries?

The indictment also sets a precedent with its attack on astroturfing -- that is, the use of fronts to promote a political cause by making it look like a grassroots movement when it's really not. The indictment accuses the Russians of organizing both pro- and anti-Trump rallies after the November 2016 election. It's a drop in the bucket when you consider the foreign lobbying cash paid to Washington lobbyists to organize activism within the U.S. on behalf of their clients. It means that billionaire U.S. investors are colluding against America's economic interests if they engage with oil producers in countries such as Saudi Arabia, where private enterprise and the foreign government are one in the same.

According to a 2014 report by Republican members of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, a "Billionaires Club" of wealthy individuals "directs the far-left environmental movement. The members of this elite liberal club funnel their fortunes through private foundations to execute their personal political agenda."

The report also accuses the billionaires of "collaborating with offshore funders to maximize support for the far-left environmental movement."

By indicting these 13 Russians, whose contribution to the alleged usurpation of American democracy is downright comical, Mueller has inadvertently exposed a treasure trove of hypocrisy.

{ foxnews.com } ~ President Trump announced Thursday he plans to institute tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum next week... arguing it will level the playing field for American companies and help them expand after plant closings in recent years. The president said he decided on tariffs of 25 percent for steel and 10 percent for aluminum. “So steel and aluminum will see a lot of good things happen,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “We're going to have new jobs popping up." He made the dramatic announcement after participating in a listening session with 15 representatives from the steel and aluminum industry...   http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/03/01/trump-says-will-order-tariffs-on-steel-aluminum-imports-next-week.html

{ freebeacon.com } ~ The Trump administration is laying the groundwork to abandon the landmark nuclear deal with Iran... if European allies fail to fix the agreement and close key loopholes that have allowed the Islamic Republic to continue sensitive nuclear research and develop advanced ballistic missiles, according to senior administration officials and top lawmakers who spoke to the Washington Free Beacon about sensitive ongoing diplomatic talks. Senior Trump administration officials have been pressuring European allies to agree to a range of fixes to the nuclear deal that would address Iran's military intervention across the Middle East, as well as its ongoing efforts to develop advanced ballistic missile technology that could be used to carry a nuclear weapon. Key European governments in recent days have expressed opposition to Trump administration efforts to impose new sanctions on Iran, instead pushing the United States to go along with weaker, cosmetic changes that insiders view as appeasing Iran...   http://freebeacon.com/national-security/trump-admin-preparing-kill-iran-nuclear-deal-europeans-refuse-fix-agreement/?utm_source=Freedom+Mail&utm_campaign=0f0a1941e3-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_02_28&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5e6e0e9ea-0f0a1941e3-45611665

by Judge Andrew Napolitano
{ townhall.com } ~ The Ash Wednesday massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, seems to have broken more hearts than similar tragedies that preceded it. It was no more senseless than other American school shootings, but there is something about the innocence and bravery and eloquence of the youthful survivors that has touched the souls of Americans deeply.

After burying their dead, the survivors have mobilized into a mighty political force that loosely seeks more laws to regulate the right to keep and bear arms. The young people, traumatized and terrified with memories of unspeakable horror that will not fade, somehow think that a person bent on murder will obey gun laws.

Every time I watch these beautiful young people, I wince, because in their understandable sadness is the potential for madness -- "madness" being defined as the passionate and stubborn refusal to accept reason. This often happens after tragedy. After watching the government railroad Abraham Lincoln's killer's conspirators -- and even some folks who had nothing to do with the assassination -- the poet Herman Melville wrote: "Beware the People weeping. When they bare the iron hand."

It is nearly impossible to argue rationally with tears and pain, which is why we all need to take a step back from this tragedy before legally addressing its causes.

If you believe in an all-knowing, all-loving God as I do, then you accept the concept of natural rights. These are the claims and privileges that are attached to humanity as God's gifts. If you do not accept the existence of a Supreme Being, you can still accept the concept of natural rights, as it is obvious that humans are the superior rational beings on earth. Our exercise of reason draws us all to the exercise of freedoms, and we can do this independent of the government. Stated differently, both the theist and the atheist can accept the concept of natural human rights.

Thomas Jefferson, who claimed to be neither theist nor atheist, wrote in the Declaration of Independence that all men are created equal and are "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights." Such rights cannot be separated from us, as they are integral to our humanity. Foremost among our unalienable rights is the right to life -- the right to be and to remain alive.

And that right implies the right to defend life -- the right to self-defense. If I am about to assault you in the nose, you can duck, run away or punch me first. If I am about to strike your children, you can strike me first. If I am about to do either of those things with a gun, you can shoot me first, and no reasonable jury will convict you. In fact, no reasonable prosecutor will charge you.

The reason for all this is natural. It is natural to defend yourself -- your life -- and your children. The Framers recognized this right when they ratified the Second Amendment. They wrote it to ensure that all governments would respect the right to keep and bear arms as a natural extension of the right to self-defense.

In its two most recent interpretations of the right to self-defense, the Supreme Court characterized that right as "pre-political." That means the right pre-existed the government. If it pre-existed the government, it must come from our human nature. I once asked Justice Antonin Scalia, the author of the majority's opinion in the first of those cases, called the District of Columbia v. Heller, why he used the term "pre-political" instead of "natural." He replied, "You and I know they mean the same thing, but 'natural' sounds too Catholic, and I am interpreting the Constitution, not Aquinas."

With the Heller case, the court went on to characterize this pre-political right as an individual and personal one. It also recognized that the people who wrote the Second Amendment had just fought a war against a king and his army -- a war that they surely would have lost had they not kept and carried arms that were equal to or better than what the British army had.

They didn't write the Second Amendment to protect the right to shoot deer; they wrote it to protect the right to self-defense -- whether against bad guys, crazy people or a tyrannical government bent on destroying personal liberty.

In Heller, the court also articulated that the right to use guns means the right to use guns that are at the same level of sophistication as the guns your potential adversary might have, whether that adversary be a bad guy, a crazy person or a soldier of a tyrannical government.

But even after Heller, governments have found ways to infringe on the right to self-defense. Government does not like competition. Essentially, government is the entity among us that monopolizes force. The more force it monopolizes the more power it has. So it has enacted, in the name of safety, the least safe places on earth -- gun-free zones. The nightclub in Orlando, the government offices in San Bernardino, the schools in Columbine, Newtown and Parkland were all killing zones because the government prohibited guns there and the killers knew this.

We all need to face a painful fact of life: The police make mistakes like the rest of us and simply cannot be everywhere when we need them. When government fails to recognize this and it disarms us in selected zones, we become helpless before our enemies.

But it could be worse. One of my Fox News colleagues asked me on-air the other day: Suppose we confiscated all guns; wouldn't that keep us safe? I replied that we'd need to start with the government's guns. Oh, no, he said. He just meant confiscation among the civilian population. I replied that then we wouldn't be a civilian population any longer. We'd be a nation of sheep.

{ foxnews.com } ~ Thus far, Special Counsel Robert Mueller has not alleged any criminal collusion... between the Trump campaign and Russian officials. But what if he does? Well, if he follows past Justice Department legal guidance adopted by the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC), the answer in regard to the president is pretty much: “Nothing.” Long ago, back in the Nixon era, OLC concluded that indicting or criminally prosecuting a sitting president would violate the Constitution by undermining “the capacity of the executive branch to perform its constitutionally assigned functions.” The progressive left knows they don’t have the political power inside Congress to impeach President Trump. But they openly fantasize that Mueller will one day indict him on charges of criminal conspiracy.  This, they think, would lead either to his conviction and removal from office, or so severely handicap his presidency that he would be forced to resign...   http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2018/02/26/left-s-fever-dream-mueller-indicting-trump-won-t-happen-even-if-finds-something-here-s-why.html

Public safety: Be careful what you wish for
by ERIK RUSH

{ wnd.com } ~ Following the Feb. 14 mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, the debate over gun violence, gun control and the Second Amendment has been inflamed anew, with those on the right scrambling to preserve and defend firearms rights and those on the left engaging in protests and regurgitating baseless anti-gun propaganda on a dizzying scale.

Of course, we’ve heard all of these arguments before. Those on the left, captained by progressive politicos who wish to render Americans unable to defend themselves against tyranny the sole reason for the existence of the Second Amendment, include ideologues and the well-meaning deluded useful idiots rallying to manifest the impossible dream of a country without guns, except for those in the hands of the military, possibly law enforcement and those of sufficient stature and wealth to engage private security firms – you know, politicians, Hollywood celebrities and such.

It doesn’t seem to matter that statistics from around the world bear out that gun violence and violent crime in general typically skyrocket and remain high in scenarios in which firearms in the hands of the public are prohibited or severely restricted. Those on the left handily ignore the fact that even in the former Soviet Union – one of the most hard-line totalitarian regimes in history – criminals were still readily able to obtain firearms. The fact that in nearly all cases – at least in Western nations – more guns in the hands of private citizens typically result in less crime committed with firearms rather than more is seldom even argued by gun-rights supporters.

I recently read Robert Draper’s article “They are Watching You” in the February 2018 edition of National Geographic, which addresses the proliferation of surveillance technology and the scope of its use on a global scale. NatGeo, which is generally on board with everything espoused by the hard left from histrionics over man-made climate change to the legitimacy of gender-bending politics, did allow Draper some latitude when it came to peripherally examining concerns over government agencies summarily invading individuals’ privacy, ostensibly for the good of the collective.

“Even less quantifiable, but far more vexing, are the billions of images of unsuspecting citizens captured by facial recognition technology and stored in law enforcement and private-sector databases over which our control is practically nonexistent.”

– Robert Draper, “They are Watching You” National Geographic, February 2018

The NatGeo issue itself was entitled “The New Big Brother” and featured other fare on surveillance – but as we know, it is quite common for those on both the left and the right to demonstrate a dangerous tendency to accept government intrusion as long as they believe it will serve their particular ideological bent. Draper does cite both Orwell and Huxley in his comparisons to emerging Western surveillance states, as well as the ubiquitous nature of technology in the hands of private organizations and individuals; indeed, there have been high-profile instances wherein misfeasance and criminality on the part of government representatives was exposed by technology in the hands of private citizens, such as the 1991 beating of Rodney King by Los Angeles police.

That said, one still cannot render a compelling argument that surveillance technology in the hands of private citizens poses a greater threat to government or our liberties than the reverse.

As we know, it has been argued that even the rise of Islamic extremism in the U.S., which of course became a national concern on Sept. 11, 2001, may have been entirely orchestrated by globalist progressives in our own government seeking to create a climate in which the citizenry would not only accept, but welcome the advent of the surveillance state. Whether or not one subscribes to “9/11 Truther” hypotheses, at this juncture, it should be clear to any thinking American that many of those who’ve held some of the more powerful positions in our national government are entirely capable of such action.

The point I am trying to make here is that there are still far too many Americans who possess an “it can’t happen here” attitude with regard to tyranny, when if nothing else, the last 10 years of political machinations have demonstrated that it most assuredly can. Certain measures initiated by the ostensibly conservative George W. Bush administration the Patriot Act among them to combat the aforementioned Islamist extremism problem were welcomed by many on the right, but these paved the way for monumental abuses by the liar-nObama administration, most notably the domestic spying scandal that came to light in 2013.

On the bright side of the privacy issue, many actually are waking up to the potential for government intrusion into their personal affairs. For example, consumers in the U.S. and several other countries have been signing up in droves for the Defense Enabling and Assisting Framework, a state-of-the-art digital security technology that protects cellphone communications and is the only such utility currently within the average consumer’s price range. It bears mentioning that many of the company’s current subscribers are law enforcement agencies and personnel.

Still, despite revelations concerning closeted progressives in the Republican Party, the domestic spying scandal and the militarization of federal agencies – all of which contributed to the election of Donald Trump as president – it is clear that Americans are going to have to become far, far more scrupulous with regard to what power they give to government, whether it be local, state, or federal – or more accurately, what power they allow government to appropriate.

In short: Be careful what you wish for.

nra-1.jpg?width=173So…last week, there was a nationwide student “walkout” in protest of the NRA because of the shooting in Parkland Florida. Also last week, we saw several national companies pull their support of the NRA over what happened in Parkland Florida.

How quaint.

It doesn’t matter one bit to those students, or to those companies what the truth is, or what the facts are…they’re just jumping on a mainstream media driven bandwagon that’s heading for an abyss with no brakes.

The mainstream media, liberal/socialist narrative is…guns are bad…guns kill people…the NRA is all about gun ownership and therefore…the NRA is responsible for the murder of 17 people in Parkland Florida.

Ummm…

{ rickwells.us } ~ Lou Dobbs and Rep Jim Jordan sat down for a discussion of the exchange between President Trump and his rogue Attorney General, Jeff Sessions... Dobbs started off by quoting a tweet Trump wrote blasting Sessions for hiding behind the charade of an Inspector General’s investigation and then showed the text of the miffed, feckless AG’s response. A defiant Sessions issued a statement saying, “As long as I am the attorney general, I will continue to discharge my duties with integrity and honor, and this department will continue to do its work in a fair and impartial manner according to the law and Constitution.” Of course he’s not discharging his duties, he’s shirking them and letting the criminals in the liar-nObama regime, the deep state bureaucracy and liar-Hillary Clinton walk without any accountability. There is no honor in that and conversely, as President Trump stated, Sessions is a disgrace...  https://rickwells.us/jordan-sessions-second-counsel/.

He is not worried because Palestinian schoolchildren are being goaded by their leaders to carry out terror attacks against Jews, from stone-throwing to stabbings to ramming cars. The PA minister of Education is worried, he says, about a "crime" that is about to be committed against Arab children in Jerusalem schools. The "crime," in his view, is that the children will be taught according to an Israeli, and not a Palestinian, curriculum. Saidam sees the decision to apply the Israeli curriculum to Arab schools in Jerusalem as an "ugly crime of counterfeit." by Michelle Malkin
townhall.com } ~ In Florida, the Broward County Sheriff's office and Broward County school district are fighting to keep exterior surveillance video from the day of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School hidden from view. As journalists and citizens who've waged uphill battles against secrecy well know, government agencies too often invoke broad disclosure exemptions in the name of protecting public safety when they're really just trying to protect their own jobs.

Feckless Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel and media-luvin' school Superintendent Robert Runcie are defendants in an open records lawsuit filed Tuesday by the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the Miami Herald and CNN. The local officials claim that surveillance videos from cameras outside the school are completely exempt from sunshine laws because they would expose the district's security system plan; are part of an active criminal investigation; and involve an active internal affairs investigation of school resource officer/BSO Deputy Scot Peterson, whom Israel notoriously threw under the bus last week.

Let's break down these specious excuses for keeping information vital to the public interest locked in a black box.

First, disclosure of the videos would pose no danger to students because Building 12, where the shooting took place, will be demolished.

Second, key investigative records, transcripts and logs in the active criminal probe against the Parkland school shooter have already been released to the public. Israel himself coughed up call logs documenting 23 times the shooter's family or neighbors called deputies to the house. Additional dispatch records obtained by local and national media outlets revealed 22 more calls to law enforcement dating back to 2008 that had not been initially communicated by the selectively disclosing sheriff.

Moreover, the open records lawsuit notes that Israel has already publicly described in detail what the video shows about Peterson's actions: He arrived at the west side of Building 12, took position, got on his radio, had a view of the western entry of Building 12 but never went in for "upwards of four minutes" while the shooter slaughtered 17 innocent students and teachers.

In addition, government sources have leaked FBI transcripts of caller tips reporting Nikolas Cruz's violent threats and tendencies that went unheeded. Unidentified sources leaked school disciplinary records documenting the shooter's troubles dating back to elementary and middle school. And a Broward Circuit Court judge ordered the release last week of a State Department of Children and Families investigation into allegations of abuse and neglect in the shooter's home.

"If there were shortcomings," Broward Circuit Court Judge Charles Greene concluded, "the public has the right to know." Any right to privacy that the shooter may have claimed was effectively waived by his own bloody actions and outweighed by the public interest.

The Broward County school district is hiding behind the sheriff's skirt, claiming that since law enforcement took possession of the videos, its hands are tied. But that school property is the public's property, subject to the state's public records act. As Fort Lauderdale lawyers Dana McElroy and James McGuire, who filed the petition on behalf of the media outlets, point out in the "good cause" petition for disclosure that I obtained this week: "The District should be required to demand, and the Sheriff's Office should be required to deliver, a copy of the video back to the District" in order to comply with the "legal requirement that it maintain and disclose its own public records."

Third, Deputy Scot Peterson has already resigned, so the sheriff's office should not be able to hide behind the confidential personnel records shield. Peterson publicly disputes Israel's version of events and released his own detailed account of his actions after his former boss blabbed about the surveillance tape at a backside-saving press conference last week. This is "information the public needed to know," Israel pontificated last week, yet he is denying the public's right to see and judge the surveillance videos for themselves.

Israel is a grandstanding publicity hound, enabled by gun control extremists in the media, whose "just trust us" arrogance is an obstacle to the truth. He's a dime a dozen. Across the country, government control freaks in local, state and federal agencies -- both civilian and law enforcement -- routinely block public disclosure of information that destroys their carefully spun, job-preserving narratives.

Release the videos. Let the public, especially competent security experts, see them. Without transparency, there can be no accountability. Without accountability, "Never Again" is yet another empty, expedient cable TV sound bite in an ocean of
self-serving rhetoric.

When asked, its response is consistent: “It’s a crazy idea.” And, “We need fewer guns, not more guns.” A New York Times editorial offered the following argument against having any armed teachers:  Nationwide statistics on police shooting accuracy are not to be found. But if New York is typical, analyses show that its officers hit their targets only one-third of the time. {I townhall.com } ~ In my long career in journalism, I have met many famous people, but none of them impressed me as much as William Franklin "Billy" Graham. The reason had less to do with his fame and movie star looks; it was his humility that was so attractive, so refreshing, so like the One he faithfully served.

My conversations with him quickly turned to me. He wanted to know about my family, how I was doing. Politicians do this, too, but often it is a manipulative technique. With Graham, it was real. It is why so many loved him, including those who do not share his faith.

At his peak -- which lasted longer than most -- Graham was offered political power and movies. He turned them all down, believing he had been called to "preach the Gospel -- Jesus -- and do nothing else."

He told me, and others, that his greatest regret was a too close association with some presidents -- especially Richard Nixon -- which dulled his senses to some of their excesses. Indeed, some politicians used Graham for moral cover while not necessarily sharing the depth of his faith.

Graham ended racially segregated seating at his Southern crusades long before it became "fashionable." In the South especially this was a dangerous thing to do in the '50s. He once told me of a conversation he had with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in which he quoted King as saying to him about desegregation and civil rights, "You take the stadiums and I'll take the streets."

In a 1979 interview I conducted with him for a book called "Public Persons and Private Lives: Intimate Interviews," Graham told me that the accolades he had received shocked him because he did not feel worthy to preach. In others, this might seem like false humility, but not with Graham. I had observed him long enough to know that the light grace of humility rested easily on him.

Graham said he "felt everything the Apostle Paul felt" -- inadequate, sinful and weak in the flesh. And then he said, "I've been asked 'How do you feel when you stand up to preach?' Usually I feel totally inadequate and wish that the floor would open up and let me drop through. There are many times when I stand up that I almost feel like running from the stadium. I feel like I have nothing to give these people. ... And then I remember that it's the power of the Word. It's not me."

And then the ultimate question, which he answered after turning 60: What does he think about when he thinks of death?

"I'd be delighted to go today," he told me. "I look forward to death. In a way, I suppose it's because I've studied a great deal in the Scriptures concerning Heaven. I believe it's going to be something beyond anything that we could imagine. Death is going to be a wonderful experience. I hope they don't dope me up. I want to experience death, because I think even the suffering is a part of life and that in suffering we gain spiritual strength."

And, I ask, what will you say to the Christ whom you have served most of your life when you see Him?

"I know I'm going to fall down before him and say, 'Lord, forgive me,' I think that's what I'll say."

I suspect Jesus will say two things in response: "I already have" and "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

{ rickwells.us } ~ Judge Andrew Napolitano knows Jeff Sessions personally and tells Fox’s Neil Cavuto that he’s surprised he’s still hanging on to the Attorney General position... What was initially more surprising is that Sessions has steadfastly refused to do his job throughout the period President Trump has been in office. Those offenses began with but didn’t stop with his license to do nothing, the recusal card. Napolitano says he believes Sessions has submitted two letters of resignation to President Trump, both of which were rejected. Maybe it’s time to go for number three, with Napolitano saying that the public criticism by Trump of Sessions could provide that impetus. He reminds Cavuto that “It was known before he was appointed Attorney General that the FBI and the DOJ were investigating Russian influence. He probably should have said to then-President Elect Trump, ‘I want this job more than anything else but I don’t think I can do it because I think I’m going to be a witness.’ The President would never have appointed him and all of the President’s angst that he feels to this very moment would have gone away.”... https://rickwells.us/napolitano-obama-doj-sessions/.

{ conservativehq.com } ~ A panel at CPAC last week addressed how President Trump is fighting to regain control from the administrative state... The administrative state is perhaps best known through the alphabet soup-named federal and state agencies that have become so powerful and unaccountable to the law. In one of his many impressive moves, President Trump named Mick Mulvaney acting director of the Consumer  Financial Protection Board (CFPB). The CFPB is a federal agency created during the liar-nObama presidency, and it is the unaccountable big-government spawn of Senator Elizabeth dinky-Warren from Massachusetts. Mr. Mulvaney has opened up requests for public comments about the CFPB’s power. The first of those requests for public comments involves perceived abuses of the CFPB in issuing civil investigative demands (CIDs), also known as administrative subpoenas. CIDs are judgeless, probable cause-free demands for documents issued by federal and state government agencies... http://www.conservativehq.com/node/27497

{ legalinsurrection.com } ~ President Donald Trump’s administration has already implemented nearly two-thirds of the 334 agenda according to the conservative Heritage Foundation... which is a pace faster than former President Ronald Reagan. One of Trump’s biggest promises was to roll back regulations, especially those promulgated under the behemoth of the Environmental Protection Agency. New reports indicate that the agency’s enormous power, magnified under liar-nObama, is steadily receding. The EPA’s Chief Administrator Scott Pruitt has been particularly effective in reigning in the agency. As a result, he is the target of a lawsuit by 2 eco-activist groups. Specifically, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington and Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility claim Pruitt is violating federal records laws... https://legalinsurrection.com/2018/02/epa-chief-scott-pruitt-the-weaponization-of-the-epa-is-over/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+LegalInsurrection+%28Le%C2%B7gal+In%C2%B7sur%C2%B7rec%C2%B7tion%29

by Judge Andrew Napolitano
{ townhall.com } ~ Last Friday, a federal grand jury sitting in Washington, D.C., indicted 13 Russian nationals and three Russian corporations for conspiracy and for using false instruments and computer hacking so as to influence the American presidential election in 2016. The indictment alleges a vast, organized and professional effort, funded by tens of millions of dollars, whereby Russian spies passed themselves off as Americans on the internet, on the telephone and even in person here in the U.S. to sow discord about liar-Hillary Clinton and thereby assist in the election of Donald Trump.

Though an indictment is a charge only, it presumably relies on hard evidence of a wide and deep Russian project -- so wide and so deep that it could only have been approved and paid for by the Kremlin. President Trump's national security adviser, Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, characterized the allegations in the indictment as "incontrovertible." The New York Times reported over the weekend that its Russian sources have now revealed that more than 1,000 people in Russia were involved for over three years.

The project was run out of an office building in St. Petersburg, Russia, which also houses the Kremlin's favorite caterer, a company owned by one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's close friends. The techniques outlined in the indictment include using false and fictitious names, bank accounts and websites; organizing rallies and marches in the U.S.; making thousands of phony web posts; and aggressively revealing embarrassing data about   liar-Clinton.

The Russian work even included the orchestration of a few pro- liar-Clinton rallies so as to deflect suspicion away from all these new pro-Trump entities that appeared to have come out of nowhere.

Though Donald Trump told folks as far back as 2011 of his interest in running for president and though liar-Clinton ran in the Democratic primaries in 2008 and 2016, as well as in the general election in 2016, the Russian scheme appears to have materialized at some point in 2014.

The dates are important because we know from the revelations of Edward Snowden that the National Security Agency, the federal government's domestic spying apparatus, began its pursuit of capturing all electronic data on everyone in the U.S. in 2001 and succeeded in mastering the capture of all keystrokes, telephone calls and digital traffic by 2005. We also know that the NSA traffic proceeds through FBI computers and that the CIA keeps constant tabs on Russian spies in Russia and elsewhere.

Why didn't the CIA or the NSA or the FBI pick this up?

That is the $64,000 question that the indictment does not address, and we may never know the answer to it. If the purpose of all the warrantless spying -- in direct contravention of the Constitution, no less -- is to keep the country safe from foreign assault, whether by bombs in a subway or by guns in an office building or by hacking into computers, why didn't our 60,000 domestic, and God only knows how many foreign, spies catch this Russian interference?

One answer is information overload. By spying on everyone all the time, the spies have too much data through which to sift, and they miss the evidence of coming terror -- just as they did with the killings in Orlando, in San Bernardino, at the Boston Marathon, on a New York bike path and even recently at a school in Florida, all of which were preceded by internet chatter that would have tipped off a trained listener to the plans of the killers.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's efforts to uncover the Russian interference are not a "hoax" or a "witch hunt" as President Trump has argued. They are serious and professional efforts that have now borne fruit. But Mueller was not appointed until after the election -- after the Russians ran unchecked through our computer systems and the American marketplaces of ideas.

The joke in the D.C. legal community this week is, "We all want a front-row seat at the arraignments of the Russians." That's a joke because a defendant must be physically present at his arraignment, meaning -- since the Kremlin will surely not send its indicted spies here -- no arraignments will occur. And no trials will occur.

These folks the grand jury indicted could be lured to other countries and arrested or even kidnapped there, but that would be very dangerous and would most likely invite violent retaliation. Even if these defendants ended up in a federal courtroom by murky or illegal means, that would not impair their prosecution.

However, because the American intelligence community has done similar "disinformation" projects in foreign countries though not on this scale, these defendants and these indictments will go nowhere.

That leaves a question: Why would Mueller seek indictments of folks he knows he cannot prosecute? He did so for a few reasons. One was to reveal the scope of the unlawful activity that he has found. The American people are entitled to know what went on under our noses and who knew about this and looked the other way. As well, this indictment gives credibility to Mueller's work.

The other reason for the indictment is to smoke out any American collaborators. He has identified American collaborators, but not by proper name, and the Department of Justice has said -- not in the indictment, in which case it would be bound by what it says, but in a press statement, which binds no one -- that the American collaborators were unwitting dupes of the Russians. My guess is that Mueller's American targets are under electronic and visual surveillance and that he is listening to their premature sighs of relief.

It is a felony for foreign nationals to participate in American federal elections, and it is a felony for any Americans knowingly to assist them.

This is not the end of these indictments related to the 2016 election. It is the beginning.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team are looking into how much President Donald Trump knew about the hacked Democrat emails... according to an NBC report. Investigators are reportedly asking witnesses as to whether the president knew those messages were stolen before this was publicly known, and if he played a role in the release of those messages by WikiLeaks. Witnesses are being asked if Trump knew the emails were going to be published, and why he has taken positions that benefit Russia. Sources in this story are described as “multiple people familiar with the probe.” Mueller’s team is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election, and that involves whether the Trump campaign colluded in these efforts. U.S. intelligence officials said in a report declassified in January 2017 that the Kremlin directed cyber attack efforts to help Trump win the race. This involved hacking emails from the Democratic National Committee and liar-Clinton campaign chairman  John Podesta. The president has repeatedly dismissed the allegation of ties between Moscow and his campaign, calling this a “witch hunt” by Democrats... Mueller you are going in the wrong direction.   https://lawandcrime.com/politics/mueller-asking-witnesses-if-trump-helped-release-hacked-dem-emails-report-says/

In January, the Department of Commerce delivered a report to the president on the effects of steel imports on U.S. national security... That report went public earlier this month. In the report, the Commerce Department made a series of recommendations to restrict imports. Those recommendations ranged from imposing tariffs of up to 53 percent to establishing global quotas based on 2017 import levels. The 262-page report focused almost exclusively on integrated steel mills, which represent only one-third of domestic steel production. It failed to mention the adverse effects of tariffs on steel-using industries in the U.S...

{ theconservativetreehouse.com } ~ It’s challenging to discuss the basic ‘fatal flaw’ within a modern NAFTA in a short discussion segment; however... Ambassador Lighthizer, Secretary Ross and the newly positioned Peter Navarro have a strong position for withdrawal. The essential problem with NAFTA is an evolution that took place over time.  In its current form NAFTA became an exploited doorway into the coveted U.S. market.  Asian economic interests, large multinational corporations, invested in Mexico and Canada as a way to work around any direct trade deals with the U.S. By shipping parts to Mexico and/or Canada; and by deploying satellite manufacturing and assembly facilities in Canada and/or Mexico; China, Asia and to a lesser extent EU corporations exploited a loophole.  Through a process of building, assembling or manufacturing their products in Mexico/Canada those foreign corporations can skirt U.S. trade tariffs and direct U.S. trade agreements.  The finished foreign products entered the U.S. under NAFTA rules...  https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2018/02/27/nafta-watch-ustr-robert-lighthizer-interview-with-laura-ingraham/.
A gas tax hike is worth considering

President Trump has shown a willingness to increase the U.S. gas tax by 25 cents... to fund new infrastructure spending, according to recent reports. The current federal gas tax is 18.4 cents per gallon, and including state and local taxes brings the total to 49.4 cents per gallon. By some estimates, gas and diesel taxes account for more than 90 percent of all U.S. revenues from environmental taxes, defined as those levied on specific physical products with proven negative environmental externalities. In general, an optimal environmental tax should be set to match the marginal external damage caused by the pollutant. In the case of gasoline, the marginal external costs include the effects of pollution and climate change, as well as road congestion, noise, accidents and pavement damage. According to economists Ian Parry and Kenneth Small, the efficient tax for these externalities would be approximately $1 per gallon...  http://www.aei.org/publication/a-gas-tax-hike-is-worth-considering/?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTURKalkyTmlOMlV5TWpoaiIsInQiOiJoeVZpSHh6c1NsMFVTajhUaXRaZGp6ZDBSTTlzMGhIRytSOE0xMldzQ3dcL2NvMU5LVENCcks4UlpYdHV4SVhOMnFwVmhCQ2lQYVdPYituV3ZKQ0QzeHNpMG5BZEpDa01FS2YyY1wvRjJ6STBBM1FVS1NYOHVLaitnKzl4SEo4ZGV6In0%3D

{ townhall.com } ~ Where are all the grown-ups in times of crisis and grief? Don't bother searching America's prestigious law schools.

Two adult men, occupying lofty perches as law professors, argued this week that the voting age in the U.S. should be lowered to 16 because some high school survivors of the Parkland, Florida, shooting who want gun control "are proving how important it is to include young people's voices in political debate."

That was the assertion of University of Kentucky law professor Joshua Douglas on CNN.com. He praised some student leaders at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School who've been making the rounds on TV, shouting at President Trump, Republicans in Congress and the NRA "to demand change" -- which Douglas defines obtusely as "meaningful gun control," whatever that means.

Because these children are apparently doing a better job at broadcasting his own ineffectual political views, Douglas asserts, "we should include them more directly in our democratic process" by enfranchising them now.

Harvard law professor Laurence Tribe similarly tweeted, "Teens between 14 and 18 have far better BS detectors, on average, than 'adults' 18 and older." On what basis does distinguished Professor Tribe make such a claim? On a foundation of pure, steaming BS.

Undaunted, gun control advocate Tribe urged: "Wouldn't it be great if the voting age were lowered to 16? Just a pipe dream, I know, but . . . #Children'sCrusade?"

This is unadulterated silliness. It's hashtag hokum from a pair of pandering left-wing profs exploiting a new round of Democratic youth props. I have called this rhetorical fallacy "argumentum ad filium:" If politicians appeal to the children, it's unassailably good and true.

This is not compassion, but abdication. America is not a juvenilocracy. It is a constitutional republic. There is a reason we don't elect high school sophomores and juniors to public office or allow them to cast ballots. There are many, many reasons, actually.

Pubescents are fueled by hormones and dopamine and pizza and Sonic shakes. They're fickle and fragile and fierce and forgetful. They hate you. They love you. They need you. They ignore you. They know everything. They know nothing. All in the span of 10 seconds. I know. I have two of them.

If you're lucky, they've only Googled "Should I eat Tide pods?" or "What happens if I snort Ramen powder?" and not actually attempted the latest social media stunt challenges.

But that's what kids do. Because they're kids.

Many may be exceptionally smart, passionate and articulate beyond their years, but they do not possess any semblance of wisdom because they have not lived those years. Their knowledge of history, law and public policy is severely limited Common Core certainly hasn't helped. And their moral agency and cognitive abilities are far from fully developed.

Most are in no position to change the world when they can't even remember to change their own bedsheets.

Yet, Tribe relishes the opportunity to hide behind the young Parkland activists headed to CNN's propaganda town halls and Washington, D.C.: "NRA will meet more than its match in these amazing kids," he gleefully cheered. "It'll meet its master and will be brought to heel. At long last."

President liar-nObama employed this very same kiddie human shield strategy to ram his federal health care takeover through Capitol Hill and down our throats. Immigration and education lobbyists use it, too. Their cynicism is unbounded. Human prop-a-palooza infantilizes public discourse and renders measured, mature dissent impossible. Those who question the logic, efficacy and wisdom of the latest left-wing "children's crusade" face accusations of "hating" the children. Refusing to acquiesce to their tears and protests is tantamount to letting them die.

Showing resilience and resolve in the face of horrific adversity deserves the highest praise and attention. Juvenile victim status, however, does not warrant absolute moral authority or the unfettered powers in the political arena that ideologically stunted law professors are so eager to bestow upon them.

It's fine to listen, but do not let the children lead.

{ wnd.com } ~ Open government isn’t just good government. It’s the public’s right.

In Florida, the Broward County Sheriff’s office and Broward County school district are fighting to keep exterior surveillance video from the day of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School hidden from view. As journalists and citizens who’ve waged uphill battles against secrecy well know, government agencies too often invoke broad disclosure exemptions in the name of protecting public safety when they’re really just trying to protect their own jobs.

Feckless Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel and media-luvin’ school Superintendent Robert Runcie are defendants in an open records lawsuit filed Tuesday by the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the Miami Herald and CNN. The local officials claim that surveillance videos from cameras outside the school are completely exempt from sunshine laws because they would expose the district’s security system plan; are part of an active criminal investigation; and involve an active internal affairs investigation of school resource officer/BSO Deputy Scot Peterson, whom Israel notoriously threw under the bus last week.

Let’s break down these specious excuses for keeping information vital to the public interest locked in a black box.

First, disclosure of the videos would pose no danger to students because Building 12, where the shooting took place, will be demolished.

Second, key investigative records, transcripts and logs in the active criminal probe against the Parkland school shooter have already been released to the public. Israel himself coughed up call logs documenting 23 times the shooter’s family or neighbors called deputies to the house. Additional dispatch records obtained by local and national media outlets revealed 22 more calls to law enforcement dating back to 2008 that had not been initially communicated by the selectively disclosing sheriff.

Moreover, the open records lawsuit notes that Israel has already publicly described in detail what the video shows about Peterson’s actions: He arrived at the west side of Building 12, took position, got on his radio, had a view of the western entry of Building 12 but never went in for “upwards of four minutes” while the shooter slaughtered 17 innocent students and teachers.

In addition, government sources have leaked FBI transcripts of caller tips reporting Nikolas Cruz’s violent threats and tendencies that went unheeded. Unidentified sources leaked school disciplinary records documenting the shooter’s troubles dating back to elementary and middle school. And a Broward Circuit Court judge ordered the release last week of a State Department of Children and Families investigation into allegations of abuse and neglect in the shooter’s home.

“If there were shortcomings,” Broward Circuit Court Judge Charles Greene concluded, “the public has the right to know.” Any right to privacy the shooter may have claimed was effectively waived by his own bloody actions and outweighed by the public interest.

The Broward County school district is hiding behind the sheriff’s skirt, claiming that since law enforcement took possession of the videos, its hands are tied. But that school property is the public’s property, subject to the state’s public records act. As Fort Lauderdale lawyers Dana McElroy and James McGuire, who filed the petition on behalf of the media outlets, point out in the “good cause” petition for disclosure that I obtained this week: “The District should be required to demand, and the Sheriff’s Office should be required to deliver, a copy of the video back to the District” in order to comply with the “legal requirement that it maintain and disclose its own public records.”

Third, Deputy Scot Peterson has already resigned, so the sheriff’s office should not be able to hide behind the confidential personnel records shield. Peterson publicly disputes Israel’s version of events and released his own detailed account of his actions after his former boss blabbed about the surveillance tape at a backside-saving press conference last week. This is “information the public needed to know,” Israel pontificated last week, yet he is denying the public’s right to see and judge the surveillance videos for themselves.

Israel is a grandstanding publicity hound, enabled by gun control extremists in the media, whose “just trust us” arrogance is an obstacle to the truth. He’s a dime a dozen. Across the country, government control freaks in local, state and federal agencies – both civilian and law enforcement – routinely block public disclosure of information that destroys their carefully spun, job-preserving narratives.

Release the videos. Let the public, especially competent security experts, see them. Without transparency, there can be no accountability. Without accountability, “Never Again” is yet another empty, expedient cable TV sound bite in an ocean of self-serving rhetoric.

{ rickwells.us } ~ The MSNBC nag, Stephanie Ruhle, is clearly a victim waiting to happen anytime she is beyond the reach of an immediate response to a 911 call... She’s clueless in her discussion with the supposed expert but that doesn’t prevent her from spewing her leftist, anti-gun crap. It’s MSNBC, accuracy and knowledge and are only passing considerations in their broadcast content. She compares and AR-15 to a handgun in some sort of attempt to discredit the notion that armed teachers are better than unarmed teachers during a school shooting because they won’t have an AR-15. She compares the speed at which a round is delivered, as if firefights are conducted in a manner of a Revolutionary War era duel, in which both sides wait for the “go sign” and the guy with the AR-15 would somehow duck out of the way before the handgun round reached him...She needs to search and seek Israel use of guns for teachers. https://rickwells.us/msbnc-armed-teachers-chance/.
Iran Building Another
Syrian Base to Target Israel
by IPT News

{ investigativeproject.org } ~ Iran has constructed another military base in Syria with the ability to host missiles that can strike any part of Israel...
according to ImageSat International satellite images obtained exclusively by Fox News. Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC) al-Quds Force reportedly operates the base, which is located outside of the Syrian capital Damascus. Iran already oversees a military compound near the Damascus airport and other high-profile airbases and permanent military sites across the country. The United States and Israel are very concerned about Iran's ongoing efforts to consolidate permanent operating bases in Syria. Since intervening in that country's civil war in 2011, the Islamic Republic has been working to cement a land bridge from Tehran to Beirut through Syria...   https://www.investigativeproject.org/7359/iran-building-another-syrian-base-to-target-israel

{ theconservativetreehouse.com } ~ Boy howdy, it only takes a tweet from POTUS to get everyone fired up on the AG Sessions battle-front; including AG Sessions himself...  It seems, generally speaking, responses to the tweet vary in direct relationship to the disposition of the reviewer: My personal view is somewhat different than most.  President Trump is highlighting a genuine frustration, not necessarily with Jeff Sessions per se’, but rather within the institution Jeff Sessions dutifully represents.  This is, after all, what happens when citizen government runs into the bureaucracy of the institutions. We are seeing nothing more than the typical frustration of a ‘results oriented president’ who, like many of us, has had enough of these seemingly endless investigations and wants the DOJ to get-on-with the indictments, arrests and prosecutions. The frustrations are real; however, the punditry opinion of those frustrations is mostly ‘fake news’...  https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2018/02/28/president-trump-tweets-about-fisa-abuse-ag-jeff-sessions-responds/.
Why Turkey Wants to Invade the Greek Islands

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ There is one issue on which Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and its main opposition, the Republican People's Party (CHP), are in complete agreement... The conviction that the Greek islands are occupied Turkish territory and must be reconquered. So strong is this determination that the leaders of both parties have openly threatened to invade the Aegean. The only conflict on this issue between the two parties is in competing to prove which is more powerful and patriotic, and which possesses the courage to carry out the threat against Greece. While the CHP is accusing President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's AKP party of enabling Greece to occupy Turkish lands, the AKP is attacking the CHP, Turkey's founding party, for allowing Greece to take the islands through the 1924 Treaty of Lausanne, the 1932 Turkish-Italian Agreements, and the 1947 Paris Treaty, which recognized the islands of the Aegean as Greek territory. In 2016, Erdoğan said that Turkey "gave away" the islands that "used to be ours" and are "within shouting distance." "There are still our mosques, our shrines there," he said, referring to the Ottoman occupation of the islands...  https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/11954/turkey-threats-greek-islands

Trump publicly spars with Republicans
 over concealed carry, NRA influence
at school safety session
by Alex Pappas and John Roberts

President Trump sparred with Republican lawmakers during a rare, televised bipartisan gathering on gun control and school safety Wednesday...
dismissing GOP pleas to include concealed carry proposals in a sweeping gun package while making clear he doesn't “have to agree on everything” with the National Rifle Association. “I’m a fan of the NRA,” Trump told lawmakers at the White House. “There’s no bigger fan. I'm a big fan of the NRA. These are great people, these great patriots. They love our country. But that doesn't mean we have to agree on everything.” During the meeting, which also included prominent Democrats, Trump told House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., who was gravely injured in a mass shooting this summer, that a comprehensive gun bill would not pass if it included a concealed carry reciprocity proposal desired by Republicans...  http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/02/28/trump-publicly-spars-with-republicans-over-concealed-carry-nra-influence-at-school-safety-session.html.

Is liar-nObamaCare on Its Last Legal Leg?

by Jordan Candler:  When the Supreme Court upheld liar-nObamaCare by a 5-4 vote, Chief Justice John Roberts inexplicably preserved it. In his warped determination, “The Affordable Care Act’s requirement that certain individuals pay a financial penalty for not obtaining health insurance may reasonably be characterized as a tax. Because the Constitution permits such a tax, it is not our role to forbid it, or to pass upon its wisdom or fairness.” (Keep in mind, Barack liar-nObama argued just the opposite — that it wasn’t a tax.)

liar-nObamaCare has withstood a healthy dose of lawsuits and severe backlash, but this was by far the most despicable, extreme and surprising vindication afforded by the judicial branch. Justice Roberts professes supposedly conservative bona fides, but his arguing in the law’s favor by invoking the federal government’s tax authority — rewriting the law in order to save it — was about as absurd as it gets. But this week there was an interesting twist: Could Roberts’ legal rendering ultimately result in liar-nObamaCare’s demise?
Congressional Republicans nullified the health insurance mandate late last year courtesy of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which a new lawsuit is hinging upon in hopes of finally derailing liar-nObamaCare in its entirety. According to Reuters, “A coalition of 20 U.S. states sued the federal government on Monday over liar-nObamacare, claiming the law was no longer constitutional after the repeal last year of its requirement that people have health insurance or pay a fine.”
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel are taking the lead on this case. Paxton points out, “The U.S. Supreme Court already admitted that an individual mandate without a tax penalty is unconstitutional. With no remaining legitimate basis for the law, it is time that Americans are finally free from the stranglehold of liar-nObamaCare, once and for all.”
This is an intriguing argument. As Reuters explains, “The individual mandate in liar-nObamacare was meant to ensure a viable health insurance market by forcing younger and healthier Americans to buy coverage.” In other words, the very structure of the health care law is contingent on the mandate, which is why liar-nObama pushed so vigorously for it. But since Congress has since repealed the mandate, Justice Roberts’ contention that liar-nObamaCare “may reasonably be characterized as a tax” is no longer applicable. Which prompts the question: Under what authority is liar-nObamaCare still “constitutional”?
Unfortunately, our elected branches’ perpetual failings and the proliferation of judicial activism means the states’ new lawsuit against liar-nObamaCare isn’t a slam dunk. However, if Rule of Law finally prevails — and if by some chance liar-nObamaCare returns to the Supreme Court and Justice Roberts is forced to reconcile his previous vote — this would be the ultimate poetic justice. And tax reform will be praised more than it already is.  ~The Patriot Pos
