“Everything they’re accusing Trump of … Obama had done,” said Lee Smith of “Trump-Russia collusion” narratives pushed by Democrats and their news media allies.

Smith, senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, joined SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight for a Thursday interview with Breitbart News’s Senior Editors-at-Large Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak to discuss his latest article, “The Media Stopped Reporting the Russia Collusion Story Because They Helped Create It.”

Smith highlighted the Washington Post’s Anne Applebaum, the Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, and the New Yorker’s David Remnick as hypocritical news media figures in their criticisms of the Trump administration’s supposed appeasement of Russia and Vladimir Putin after ignoring actual appeasement of Russia and Vladimir Putin across eight years of the Obama administration.

On March 26, 2012, then-President Barack Obama told then-Russian President Dmitri Medvedev that he would have “more flexibility” in shaping U.S. foreign policy toward Russia after that year’s presidential election:

“Big-name” and “respected’  journalists like Applebaum, Goldberg, and Remnick “enlisted their bylines in a political campaign on behalf of the Democratic candidate for president,” wrote Smith. In so doing, the trio of left-wing Democrat news media figures “rehearsed the talking points [Christopher Steele] later documented.”

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s ostensible investigation into the “Russian government’s attempts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election” is predicated on lies within the “Christopher Steele dossier,” said Smith: “The Mueller investigation is premised on the Steele dossier. It’s premised on nonsense.”

Steele’s allegations – paid for by Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee – were central to the procurement of surveillance warrants via the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) for Trump campaign operatives Carter Page and George Papadopoulos (FISC) at the request of Justice Department and FBI officials during the Obama administration.

“It’s insane. … She’s describing some scenario that’s out of a B movie about all these conspiracies taking place,” said Smith of Applebaum’s 2016 warning that Russia would determine the outcome of the year’s presidential election. 

In her September 8, 2016, article entitled “How Russia could spark a U.S. electoral disaster,” Applebaum warned that “Russian hackers will seek to break into the U.S. voting system [and] attempt to throw the election.” She further claimed the Russian state “might try to get Trump elected,” or even Clinton.” Alternatively — and this would, of course, be even more devastating — [Russia] might try to rig the election for Clinton, perhaps leaving a trail of evidence designed to connect the rigging operation to Clinton’s campaign.”

At the time, Pollak described Applebaum’s warning as a “bizarre conspiracy theory.”

Applebaum is regularly featured across television news media outlets as a non-ideological and non-partisan expert of international affairs, with a focus on Europe and Russia.

Left-wing and Democrat-aligned news media outlets succeeded in their desire to prompt a federal investigation of Donald Trump and his presidential campaign to diffuse the public’s attention toward the ostensible investigation of Hillary Clinton’s felonious mishandling of classified information and evasion of record-keeping laws, said Smith.

“Journalists were participating in a political campaign,” said Smith. “Hillary had an investigation, so the idea was, ‘Well, let’s stick Trump with an investigation, too.’ And that’s what they got. They got an investigation of the Trump campaign, which was insane enough.”

The fraudulent investigation of the Trump campaign then morphed into an attempt to nullify the outcome of 2016’s presidential election, said Smith.

“After the election, it turned into something even worse,” said Smith. “It turned into an attack, not just on the president. … The purpose was to delegitimize the political choice that American voters made in electing the person that they wanted to be president. It’s an absolutely obscene campaign that the press waged. First, it was against Trump. Then, it was against the American public.”

Steele had utilized an “echo chamber” strategy among left-wing and partisan news media allies to push the “Trump-Russia collusion” narrative upon the American electorate, wrote Smith: “Much of the Russiagate campaign was conducted in this circular manner. Steele and Simpson built an echo chamber with their opposition research, parts of the law enforcement and intelligence communities, and the press all reinforcing one another.”

The news media are broadly avoiding the “falling apart” of Mueller’s ostensible investigation given their central role in its genesis, said Smith.

“Everything they’re accusing Trump of leaning toward, the Obama administration has done,” said Smith. “In Ukraine, in Syria. Whether or not you agree with Obama’s policy — I did not — but whether or not you agree with it, the fact is this is what the Obama administration did. All of a sudden, for the same people, like David Remnick, like Jeffrey Goldberg, who were speaking with President Obama extensively [and] repeatedly, for them to somehow ignore that this is what Obama had done and that suddenly, Trump was this insane outlier, that this had never happened before, that, in itself, was a huge tell.”

A Sioux Falls mayoral candidate is taking some heat for posts on his personal social media profile that equal rights advocates say are anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim.

Mike Gunn, a retired business owner and a dark horse in the 2018 Sioux Falls mayoral race, drew attention from the nonprofit South Dakota Voices for Justice for a series of Facebook posts expressing support for tighter immigration laws and alarmism over the country’s increasing Muslim population.

“It should alarm all citizens of Sioux Falls to see that kind of propaganda being released or reposted by someone who wants to be the top-elected official for the city,” said Taneeza Islam, a Sioux Falls immigration lawyer and executive director of South Dakota Voices for Justice.

[Not noted in the article is that Taneeza Islam came from the terror-linked CAIR]

Islam was specifically referring to a post shared Tuesday by Gunn from the Facebook page of Americans First, Task Force of Aberdeen SD, a self-described educational page that regularly shares memes and news stories critical of Islam.

The post in question included a story from the website JihadWatch.com stating the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is tied to terrorist organizations. Similar claims have been made by Republican and conservative office seekers throughout the country who site a Center for Security Policy report linking the organization to terrorist groups in the Middle East.

But the Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit legal advocacy organization specializing in civil rights and public interest litigation, has repeatedly defended CAIR and says the Center for Security Policy is an anti-Muslim extremist group.

Another post shared by Gunn on Feb. 3 encourages his followers to report immigrants suspected of being in the country illegally.

Gunn, a German immigrant himself, defended the posts in a phone interview and denied being a racist or a xenophobe.

“Am I anti-immigrant or anti-Muslim? No. I’m anti-radicals,” he said. “I’m all for doing things the legal way. I had to do it the right way, so I don’t see what the problem is.”

Gunn said if elected mayor, he would direct the Sioux Falls Police Department to work with federal immigration authorities to ensure foreign-born residents aren’t overstaying their visas or being harbored by local organizations or businesses.

But he would also welcome foreign-born residents into Sioux Falls if they’re willing to embrace “the American way.”

“Assimilate to our ways or, if you want it to be like your home country, then go home,” Gunn said. “I don’t see why that’s a racist remark. We are the United States. There’s a difference in the name, there’s a difference in the rules, and there’s a difference in the way of life.”

Do Australian authorities ever stop to ponder where young Muslims keep getting the idea that this is a good thing to do? Do authorities in any non-Muslim country? Do they really think that showering money on Tamim Khaja and the communities that produce young men like him is going to solve this problem? Are the citizens of Australia and other non-Muslim countries really going to allow willfully ignorant politicians to gamble with their future by continuing to ignore the root causes of this problem?

A Muslim man who was part of a group seeking to “kill as many unbelievers as they can and impose Sharia law” used the Boston Marathon terror attack as his model, an Australian court has heard.

The claim was made during sentencing proceedings for Tamim Khaja, 20, who pleaded guilty in October to planning and preparing a terrorist attack two years ago.

The then 18-year-old was arrested while readying for a massacre, either at the U.S. embassy in Sydney, an Army barracks or at a court complex. It’s alleged Khaja is close to imprisoned Islamic extremists Milad bin Ahmad-Shah al-Ahmadzai and his brother, Maywand Osman, who are also in custody on terrorism offences.

Video evidence was shown of Khaja appearing expressionless as he talks about murdering innocent people, ABC News reports.

He told undercover officers he was planning “maximum fire.”

“I mean to take as many of them down as I can. I’m not going to stop firing… If there’s like a two month old baby, or someone holding a baby, I’m just trying to think if that’s true, I wouldn’t buckle in that situation.”

Khaja started planning the terror attack after a failed attempt to travel to Syria to fight with Islamic State in 2016.

He wrote to an unidentified man: “I am so sad I couldn’t come. My heart has been broken. I wanted so badly to be on the battlefield with my brothers.

“I am thinking more along the lines of Boston Marathon… I know how to make a portable microwave b..b [sic]… Even with a handgun I would be able to cause a lot of damage.”…

Australia has been “under attack” from a group of Muslim men wanting “to kill as many unbelievers as they can” for about 15 years, a Supreme Court judge has said.

Justice Desmond Fagan added that their goal was to “impose the Sharia.” He referred to verses in the Qur’an that he said described the duty of “a Muslim to wage Jihad.”

The points Fagan make cannot be overemphasized, as this is the nature and core of the global jihad. Although Fagan indicated that he “was not making generalizations” about Islamic beliefs,  there are those Muslims who choose to obey  verses in the Qur’an that it is the duty of a Muslim to wage jihad. This is central to what sets Islamic terrorism apart: it is doctrinal, its abuses are widespread, systemic and sanctioned.

Any reasonable Westerner knows that not all Muslims adhere to this doctrine, but that does not change the fact that this problematic ideology incorporates both violent jihad and stealth jihad to subvert unbelievers and their societies. Muslim Brotherhood organizations are well known to employ stealth means, and their founder, Hassan al-Banna, also sanctioned bloody jihad.

Accused jihadist Tamim Khaja stated that he “wanted so badly to be on the battlefield with my brothers,” but because his passport was cancelled, he would adapt and “fulfil my obligation here.” Khaja also said:

I mean to take as many of them down as I can. I’m not going to stop firing… If there’s like a two month old baby, or someone holding a baby…. I wouldn’t buckle in that situation.

The commitment of jihadists to their cause is steadfast, and adaptive in location and methodology. The West has not really begun to fight this war against the global jihad until it understands its nature and stops allowing jihadists and Islamic supremacists to bully them with their labels of racism and “Islamophobia.” It is not racist or “Islamophobic” to strive to protect free societies.

Australia will continue to be under attack from other jihadists who are “on the battlefield” with their “brothers.” The country would do well to heed the warnings of Justice Desmond Fagan.

Australia has been “under attack” from a group of Muslim men wanting “to kill as many unbelievers as they can” for about 15 years, a Supreme Court judge has said.

Justice Desmond Fagan made the comments while sentencing Tamim Khaja, 20, who pleaded guilty in October to planning and preparing a terrorist attack two years ago.

The then 18-year-old was arrested while preparing for a lone wolf massacre, either at the US embassy in Sydney, an Army barracks in western Sydney, or at a court complex at Parramatta.

Counsel for the defendant, Ian Temby QC, tendered to the court a list of recent sentences handed down to other men who had been convicted of terror offences.

In response, Justice Fagan told the court that Australia had “been under attack for 15 years by about 40 Muslim men, to kill as many unbelievers as they can and impose Sharia law.”

“The ideology that underlies each is Islam.”

Sitting at Sydney West Trial Courts at Parramatta, Justice Fagan referred to verses in the Koran which he said described the duty of “a Muslim to wage Jihad”.

He said he was not making generalisations about Islamic beliefs and that his courtroom was “not a forum for the rights and wrongs of the Islam or Christian religions”.

An agreed statement of facts tendered to court revealed that Khaja had twice attempted to travel to Syria or Iraq, where he “intended to join the Islamic State terrorist organisation and engage in hostile activities”.

After his passport was cancelled in March 2016, Khaja began communicating via an encrypted messaging app with an overseas police officer, who he believed to be an ISIS supporter.

On May 7, 2016, Khaja told the police officer, known as Person A, that he “wanted so badly to be on the battlefield with my brothers”, but since his passport had been cancelled, he would “fulfil my obligation here”.

“I am currently sourcing a glock [handgun] but I want to do big damage,” Khaja told Person A.

“I am thinking more along the lines of Boston Marathon .. I know how to make a portable microwave b..b [sic]”

Even with a handgun I would be able to cause a lot of damage.”

Khaja told person A that he had been considering locations for an attack, including the US Embassy in Sydney, but it was likely to be heavily guarded, court documents revealed.

He told Person A that another option was the Timor Army Barracks in Dundas, where he could “launch an attack by ramming the lot of them by car and then firing head shots when they are on the ground”.

Mr Temby argued that at the time of the arrest Khaja was only at “a preliminary stage” of planning the offence and that he “had no accomplice”.

However the crown prosecutor said Khaja had accessed documents about bombs and creating suicide vests.

Justice Fagan said Khaja had spoken about “killing innocent people as many innocent people as he could, like [he was] planning a picnic”….
