Thus a federal judge stopped the Trump administration from placing thousands of workers at the U.S. Agency for International Development on administrative leave. CNBC reported, “The American Foreign Service Association and the American Federation of Government Employees had asked the judge to order the Trump administration to halt its efforts to ‘shut down’ USAID.”

Why the gnashing of teeth by unions and the Democrats? Because of the agency’s involvement in wasting (or if you’re a Democrat, “spending”) billions on promoting Leftist initiatives overseas, and engendering the impeachment of President Trump.

Investor, author and entrepreneur David Sacks wrote rightly: “Every time someone tries to cut something in Washington the whole city screams bloody murder. The question is why? Now we know – everyone was getting paid!

“Every left-wing organization in the world seems to be getting paid by this slush fund at USAID which disburses about $50B a year, which is about $1B a week. That’s a lot of money.”

According to former USAID director Mark Moyar, USAID often renamed its programs to give the appearance of agreeing with the first Trump administration’s policies, “citing an instance where a feminist women’s book club, started during the Obama administration, was reframed as a counter-terrorism effort.”

That is the proverbial tip of the iceberg. The CIA whistleblower who “set the beat of the impeachment drums, cited a report from OCCRP, which has deep ties to USAID” accused Trump of abusing his powers by withholding military aid to Ukraine to dig up dirt on his rival, Joe Biden.

Journalist Michael Schallenberger found that it appears the CIA, USAID, and OCCRP were all involved in the information and the reporting that led to the impeachment of President Trump in ways similar to the regime change operations that all three organizations engage in abroad. The difference is that it is highly illegal and even treasonous for the CIA, USAID, and its contractors and intermediaries, known as “cut-outs,” to interfere in U.S. politics this way.

What other kind of influence was USAID peddling? Breitbart reported that “The agency’s work includes many radical left agenda items, such as $1.5 million to “advance diversity equity and inclusion in Serbia’s workplaces and business communities,” $2.5 million for electric vehicles for Vietnam, $2 million for sex changes and ‘LGBT activism’ in Guatemala, and $6 million to fund tourism in Egypt.” USAID also spent millions on transgender operas in Colombia and meals for al-Qaeda fighters in Syria.

USAID also funded BBC Media Action, the British Broadcasting Corporation’s international charity. According to a BBC press statement, U.S. taxpayers funded 8% of its 2023-2024 budget. BBC Media Action engages in censorship under the guise of “combating misinformation.”

USAID also funded v-Fluence, a pesticide industry public relations consultant, which dug up dirt on American food journalists — including paleo advocate Michael Pollan — who criticize industrial agriculture. V-fluence also ran a campaign to intimidate critics of toxic pesticides, targeting environmentalists, according to the Children’s Health Defense Fund.

U.S. government spending records show that the East-West Management Institute, which is in part backed by Soros’ Open Society Foundations, received more than $260 million over the years in grants from USAID to promote its Leftists “justice” campaigns, according to justthenews.com.

Activist and artist @Anc_Aesthetics wrote on X that he spoke with a friend who “has connections within the Democratic Party and he said the level of panic over Trump and Elon shutting down USAID is unlike anything he’s ever seen. By following the money DOGE has struck a killing blow to the heart of the Democrat deep state machine.”

Direct quote from his contact: “This is worse than 9/11 for Democrats. USAID is the primary vessel they use to achieve their political agenda. USAID is and always has been the primary source of funding for their influence peddling schemes and for their indirect sources of income”

Another text to @Anc_Aesthetics: “Based on the reactions from within the party it seems to me that dismantling USAID is Trump’s biggest political victory to date, it was his enemies’ golden goose.”

DOGE’s young coders and their algorithms (who have been ceaselessly derided by those who benefitted from them) discovered far more inside USAID, according to the investigative substack EKO: “EPA climate initiatives? Not just mapped — found unauthorized programs in 47 states. Education’s DEI maze? Not just exposed — revealed coordination across 1,200 programs. Intelligence community black budgets? Not just traced — uncovered patterns hidden for 30 years.”

Intercept co-founder Glenn Greenwald struck the finishing blow to any doubts about USAID’s true purpose: “USAID, like the National Endowment for Democracy, are well-documented CIA fronts that are designed to manipulate other countries’ internal politics for the benefits of DC elites and nobody else in the U.S. Both agencies have wrought destruction and can’t die soon enough.”

And in case you’re worried about government spending cuts by Elon Musk and DOGE, or that they are “coming for your Social Security,” as the Left claims, here is what Musk and DOGE found as they examined payments from the U.S. government: $118 million sent directly to China.

$84 million of that came straight from the Social Security Administration, which the Democrats constantly claim Republicans are trying to “cut.” Maybe it’s not Social Security payments to individuals they have been trying to cut?

A screenshot from USASpending.gov shows the Department of State gave $30,943,170 to China; the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) $7,508,128; the Department of Agriculture (USDA) $562,990, the Department of the Interior (DOI) $70,468; Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) $61,720; the Smithsonian Institution (SI) $20,000; and there are others, for the period from 1/1/2021 to 1/20/2025 – Joe Biden’s tenure.

Further, Elon Musk posted this week that he was told “that there are currently over $100B/year of entitlements payments to individuals with no SSN or even a temporary ID number.” That’s twice as much as the entire USAID budget!

How much more fraud and waste will DOGE find? We will probably never know the extent to which “spending” has veered into graft. The average person has no concept of 150 billion, much less 4.9 trillion dollars (the proposed U.S. budget for 2024).

Unfortunately for Americans, many if not all of the USAID contracts will have to be paid. As Mish Shedlock reports, USAID’s dismantling has not been done “legally” so far. Congress needs to be involved. “My constitutional law expert says, ‘Contractors will sue. There will have been no valid legal basis for stopping contract payments. So, under the contracts, the federal government will pay a bundle in penalties and equitable adjustments.’ The courts will force a reversal.” Then it will be up to the congressweasels to stop their own gravy train. Do you think that will happen? Food for thought: Samantha Power’s net worth rose from a few million to over $30 million in her three years as the administrator of USAID under Biden, on a salary of $180,000 per year.
