Be Encouraged! 5/6/12

Howdy all!  I haven’t shared with you for a couple of days.  I’ve been spending time with the family.  Friday night we watched Braveheart.  I loved the movie the first time I watched it.  But now, with all that has been going on, I enjoy it even more.  It’s the story of the fight for Scotland against a tyrannical King, and the people who fight it.  And as I watched, I couldn’t help but compare it to the effort to restore the constitution and regain our national pride.  Sadly, the story doesn’t end well for William Wallace, due primarily to the betrayal of other Scottish nobles.  A good lesson for us all.

Any hoo,..

Come and see what our God has done, what awesome miracles he performs for people. ~ Psalm 66:5

During the course of administration, and in order to disturb it, the artillery of the press has been levelled against us, charged with whatsoever its licentiousness could devise or dare. These abuses of an institution so important to freedom and science are deeply to be regretted, inasmuch as they tend to lessen its usefulness and to sap its safety. ~ Thomas Jefferson, Second Inaugural Address, 1805

Our Creator has done so many great things for us all here in America.  To say that we take it all for granted would be a gross understatement.  Even today, even us; there are things and situations we take for granted.  I don’t have to list them; you know what they are.  Take the media for example, PLEASE!  (Sorry, couldn’t help the Henny Youngman impulse!)

Seriously, they hide behind the first amendment to say the worst they could conjure up, regardless of the truth.  They hide the truth from their customers so as to protect those they like and support.  We all know about that.  Yet, it would be difficult to find anyone who has not done something similar in the past year.  Sure it can be denied, but at least two know the truth; Him being one of them.  I agree with what Jefferson says.  The abuses of the freedom by the press are truly regrettable and diminish the respect for the press each and every day.  But when we choose to use ‘poetic license’ ourselves, we fit right in next to the likes of the NY Times.  It’s like Matthew 7:4 - How can you think of saying to your friend, 'Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,' when you can't see past the log in your own eye?

So, what to do?  The best thing to do is reflect how you embellish, and ensure that the embellishment is truly necessary to enhance the truth, not your involvement.  When you’ve completed that task, that log will be gone, and the speck you'll see in other’s eyes.  More importantly, you will see the miracle of the city on the hill with the greatest of clarity.  It will be then, that the movement of restoring our nation, its constitution and its economy will become an easy task.

Take care, God bless,

AND STAND WITH ISRAEL!!!
