Terrorists have declared war on Western civilization. And you don’t bring combatants to justice; you rain destruction on them. There is no alternative to confronting, deterring and, if necessary, disarming such states or groups. To dismiss them as a bunch of cowards perpetrating senseless acts of violence is complacent nonsense. They are deadly, vicious warriors, complete with a cult of death and need to be treated as such. They have a very specific game to bring Western Civilization to its knees and to introduce a tyrannical dark age, dedicated to imposing its fanatical enslaving ideology on societies they control and destroying the societies they can’t. others. You can abdicate, but you can't hide.
Soothing words, soothing speeches, soothing policies, mutual respect have yielded nothing. Rogue States or groups are, by definition, impervious to moral suasion. Deterrence does not work against people who ache for rewarded an afterlife. It does not work against undeterrables. And it certainly does not work against undetectables. Their war remains. Until you declare war in return, you will have thousands (and with wmd’s, maybe millions) of more innocent victims.
The lesson of history is that the world does not sort itself out on its own History doesn't act autonomously. It needs agency. If you leave it to the forces of History to repel aggression and redeem injustice, what's the point of politics, of leadership, in the first place? When peace and stability is achieved it is the product of a self-conscious action by a great power. The US is not an imperial power. There is a reason that we became the only nation in modern history to not have immediately catalyzed the creation of a massive counter hegemonic alliance against. Which is why so many in the world welcomed our presence as a balancer of power and a guarantee of their freedom. We are a commercial Republic. We don't take, we trade for, as a commercial, maritime, trading nation that needs an open (free), stable world environment in which to thrive.
Yes, foreign entitlements are indeed a burden. But some are also a necessity. America's high standards of living and its relative ability to keep the peace come with some cost. The rise of hostile powers, building weapons of mass destruction and terrorist organizations, let alone armies, can hardly be a matter of indifference. Missiles shrink distance. Weapons of mass destruction and terrorists multiply deadly power. In a world of terrorists, and weapons of mass destruction, the option of preemption is especially necessary.
Therefore, as Henry Kissinger taught us, with history confirming, the only way to achieve relative peace is through hegemony and the balance of power. But without hegemony, no balance of power among nations will hold. Therefore, we must, as a free society, be a hegemon, a for the same reason, a reluctant one. We will support democracy everywhere, but will commit blood and treasure only in places where there is a strategic necessity - meaning, places central to the larger war against an existential enemy, an enemy that poses a global mortal threat to freedom. It must be targeted, focused and limited. We are friends to all, but we come ashore only where it really counts.
Thus security threats have emerged as a direct result of that ideology combined with biden's profound ineptitude. And that incompetence has significantly eroded our nation's military readiness because biden has denigrated our military men and women to the point that morale is as low as his presidential approval ratings. On top of the explosive foreign threats to our nation, biden's ineptitude has also degraded the recruiting efforts of our military service branches, which are not meeting their minimal recruitment goals. In fact, 2023 was the worst recruitment year on record, with the uniformed services coming up short by more than 40,000 recruits.
With military recruitment and morale at an all-time low, the biden regime has floated lots of reasons to explain away this shortfall crisis. biden's "white supremacy" lie — demeaning our military ranks by claiming they are full of "extremists" — is a factor. But an extensive report concludes that, in fact, our military ranks are not full of "extremists." The real reason for the morale and recruiting bust is that biden et al. have imposed their woke policies on the rank and file, as well as their diversity, equity, and inclusion criteria for both recruitment and promotion. Thus, the most highly qualified military personnel are leaving, and at the same time, the most qualified recruits are not showing
The consequences of that deeply fatal flawed dogma inherent in neo-liberal ideology are not only real, but catastrophic. The notion that this will lead to reciprocal gestures is beyond simply childish. It is a death wish, a product of globalization that believes the illusion that such course of action can change human nature. It does not. It destroys humanity. To voluntary renounce power, others will not follow suit. They will fill the vacuum. And those others are not in any shape or form benevolent, especially to the children of such a radical revolution, upon whose graves the proof is found, the left-wing.
"America's military morale and readiness have declined to some of the lowest levels since World War II. Frankly, this should come as no surprise. ... Our military is in the middle of an undeniable crisis in recruitment, retention, and morale."--Rep Mike Garcia
Our fighting men and women are required to sit through indoctrination programs, often with roots in the Marxist tenets of critical race theory, either by Pentagon diktat or through carelessness by senior leaders who delegate their command responsibilities to private Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion instructors."-- retired Lt. Gen. Thomas Spoehr, former director of the Center for National Defense:
