Sacramento’s Biggest Gasbags

spectator.org } ~ Don’t be alarmed by soaring California gasoline prices, which have topped $4 a gallon at most gas stations around the state... Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democratic legislative leaders are on the job, as they sniff out the culprit behind rising prices. They are pretty sure it has something to do with bad corporate behavior, based on their latest public statements. Stay tuned — but you might not want to buy that giant gas-sucking SUV just yet. The cause of the high prices is obvious to those of us familiar with the state’s gasoline-related policies. In 2017, then-Gov. Jerry Brown pushed through his signature increase in gas taxes to fund the road-infrastructure improvements that his administration had neglected as it ramped up social spending. The law adds 12 cents to each gallon of gasoline and 20 cents to each gallon of diesel and could add far more to the price in coming decades. Another obvious reason for high prices: California requires that only a special blend of low-emission gasoline be sold here, which has reduced competition by eliminating the possibility of gas sales from other states. It has left supply vulnerable to routine shutdowns, fires, and other problems at the handful of facilities that produce the specially formulated concoction. Even a New York Times columnist figured it out: “You may already know that the primary reason gas tends to be more expensive in California is the state’s stringent gasoline standards, which require a cleaner fuel blend that only a few refineries outside the state can produce. So when work is stopped at any of the 10 major refineries within California, it can make a significant dent in the supply of gas, which causes prices to rise.” Furthermore, the state’s cap-and-trade system, which caps the amount of greenhouse-gas emissions that manufacturers may emit, imposes a surcharge if companies exceed those limits. It also results in retrofitting costs as companies try to reduce emissions as the cap becomes more stringent year by year. Business groups argue that the system is little more than another California-only tax on the industrial sector. Those costs play out at the pump, too...

Iran's Arrowhead in Gaza Tries
to Drag Israel into a New Conflict

investigativeproject.org } ~ Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), an Iranian-backed terrorist faction in Gaza that has an even larger rocket arsenal than Hamas, has been working hard in recent weeks to try to spark conflict with Israel... On Friday, as PIJ representatives met with Hamas counterparts in Cairo, pretending to hammer out a long-term arrangement with Egyptian officials to stabilize the Gaza Strip, a PIJ cell launched a sniper attack on Israel Defense Forces (IDF) personnel. It wasn't the first recent PIJ armed attack on Israel. At the end of April, the terror group fired a rocket at a southern Israeli city, which landed in the Mediterranean Sea. PIJ had also been busy speeding up the digging of a new terror attack tunnel from Rafah, in southern Gaza, into Israel. The IDF had been monitoring the tunnel's development, and destroyed it during the recent flare-up before PIJ could send killing and kidnap squads into the country. In March, two PIJ operatives armed with grenades and knives were caught heading for a southern Israeli village after infiltrating from Gaza. Yet it was the sniper attack, which wounded an IDF officer, that ultimately triggered a sequence of events leading to a major escalation. PIJ was able to drag Hamas into the situation it had created. What followed was a deadly Gazan onslaught of 690 rockets fired into Israelis. This was accompanied by an anti-tank missile strike on an Israeli civilian vehicle on a highway near Gaza. Four Israeli civilians were murdered in the violence – a number that would have been far higher had the Iron Dome air defense system not intercepted 240 rockets heading for built up areas. The Israel Air Force, for its part, struck over 350 terror targets across Gaza in retaliation, killing approximately 30 Hamas and PIJ operatives, and destroying many high value enemy targets that were embedded within civilian neighborhoods...

A Looming Crisis in the Mideast

gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ After raining down some 600 rockets that killed four Israelis this past week, the Netanyahu government responded with overwhelming force, deploying jet fighters to carry out multiple air strikes... killing 23 Gaza residents including a pregnant woman, according to Palestinian Authority officials. The pregnant women and her child, however, are now confirmed as having been killed by a Palestinian rocket that feel short. And, so, the cycle of violence makes another cruel revolution. What makes the events of the past week different from earlier rockets-and-retaliation episodes? The reaction of Arab intellectuals and other thought leaders in Muslim world. Consider the tweet of Dr. Turki Al-Hamad, a well-known Saudi author and thinker. He tweeted: "It's a repeating loop: rockets are fired from Gaza into Israel, Israel bombs Gaza, someone or other mediates, the fighting stops – and the common Palestinian folks pay the price. This is 'resistance,' my friend. Iran and Turkey are in trouble, and the Palestinians are paying the price." Note his use of scare quotes around resistance and his willingness to blame Iran and Turkey, two Muslim-majority nations, instead of the Jewish state. This marks a real rhetorical change. And many influential Arab voices echoed the thoughts of Dr. Al-Hamad. Muhammad Aal Al-Sheikh, a frequent contributor to the Saudi daily Al-Jazirah, tweeted: "The Persian ayatollahs have instructed their servants, Hamas, to escalate the conflict with Israel, and they obeyed. The result is seven Palestinians dead, versus one Israeli wounded. The death toll increased after his tweet. The Persians are tightening the pressure on the U.S. and Israel in retaliation for Trump's decision, and the victims are the people of Gaza."...

Iran gives Europe sixty days to

jpost.com } ~ Iranian media reported on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic was increasingly seeking to pressure European countries to come to terms with Tehran’s demands under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), or ‘Iran Nuclear Deal.’... Effectively Iran is saying that it is monitoring European actions over the next 60 days and that it is time for European countries to “fulfill their commitments” or Iran’s behavior could become “unpredictable.” Iran announced this week a partial withdrawal from the deal. In an interview with ISNA Hossein Naghavi-Hosseini discussed a recent statement from the Supreme National Security Council about Iran’s upcoming actions. He indicated that not only the US had walked away from the deal but that other western states were not upholding their end of the bargain. He termed it a failure of European countries to live up to their side of the agreement. Nahghazi-Hosseini is a conservative politician in the parliament. “We will monitor European actions within 60 days,” he said.  Iranian media present the decision of Iran to begin preparations for a greater withdrawal from the deal as a way to pressure not only Europe but also other countries to come to terms with Tehran. The concept is to create a cleavage between the western powers and other states such as Russia, Turkey and China, and get those countries to also pressure Europe to do more for Iran. It is a complex game of chess combined with setting in motion a potential crises over the summer. Mehr News says that the recent comments by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani are raising eyebrows in the UK, France, Germany, Russia and China. On May 8 Rouhani said that “starting today, Iran does not keep its enriched uranium and produced heavy water limited.” He said that European states would “face Iran’s further actions if they cannot fulfill their obligations within the next 60 days.” This is a gamble by the regime, saying it wants a “win-win” scenario. That means Iran will cease a 3.67% limit on enrichment of uranium. It was supposed to sell off any additional enriched uranium over 300 kilograms. It also had restrictions on how much heavy water it could keep. Beyond that it could reach high enrichment levels, closer to weapons-grade potential. The whole point of the deal was to prevent this scenario. Iran’s Press TV said that Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araghchi has said that Iran has not left the JCPOA but that it has put “such a move on our agenda.” He has handed a letter to five countries; France, UK, Germany, Russia and China, that specifies the decisions of the Supreme National Security Council...   https://www.jpost.com/Middle-East/Iran-gives-Europe-sixty-days-to-step-up-to-demands-589235

Dems Claim Election Fears While

Louis DeBroux:  The utter hypocrisy of the Democrat Party is so brazen that one wonders whether they are so addled with Trump Derangement Syndrome that they actually believe their own idiocy, or if they truly think voters are stupid enough to believe them. Possibly realizing they’ve been hurt with the electorate by their championing of infanticide and their relentless efforts to block President Donald Trump from dealing with the border crisis, Democrats have now amped up their claims of stolen elections.

The most obvious example, of course, is scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton’s refusal, two years later, to accept her shocking loss to political neophyte Donald Trump. In a recent interview she exclaimed, “You can run the best campaign, you can even become the nominee, and you can have the election stolen from you.”

This is the same woman who mocked and attacked Trump for his refusal to say, during a debate three weeks before the 2016 election, that he would not automatically accept election results. When he said, “I will look at it at the time,” she found it “horrifying.” Feigning shock and outrage, scumbag/liar-Clinton declared, “Donald Trump refused to say that he’d respect the results of this election. By doing that, he’s threatening our democracy.”

So which constitutes a greater threat to “our democracy”? The man who says he wants to see the results before conceding, or the powerful woman who, with her party’s top leaders, conspired with senior federal law enforcement and intelligence officials to first prevent a Trump victory, and then spent two years promoting an outrageous conspiracy theory that the duly elected president is a pawn of America’s largest geopolitical foe?

The 100% fabricated Steele dossier that became the basis of a special counsel investigation by a team of lawyers who were also Democrat Party donors and scumbag/liar-Hillary allies. The illegal spying on not just an American citizen but the opposition party presidential nominee. The endless lies and misinformation pouring out of that investigation, like effluent from a busted sewer pipe.

It is the Democrats, not the Republicans, who have damaged faith in our electoral process, and it is continuing daily.

This week House Speaker Nancy Pulosi expressed fear that President Donald Trump would not respect the outcome of a close election in 2020, saying Democrats “have to inoculate against that; we have to be prepared for that.” She recounted fears before the 2018 elections that unless Democrats achieved overwhelming victory, “[Trump] would poison the public mind. He would challenge each of the races; he would say you can’t seat these people. We had to win. Imagine if we hadn’t won — oh, don’t even imagine. So, as we go forward, we have to have the same approach.”

She doesn’t seem to appreciate the dark irony in her fears, considering that Trump won an overwhelming Electoral College victory and Democrats have spent every moment since then lying and challenging the legitimacy of the election.

The reality is that the election was “stolen” by scumbag/liar-Hillary’s own arrogance. Trump won by about 10,000 votes in Michigan, 22,000 votes in Wisconsin, and 45,000 votes in Pennsylvania — states that had not gone Republican since Ronald Reagan won them. Trump campaigned in these states repeatedly in the final months, and scumbag/liar-Hillary was a no show, expecting to win with no effort.

Likewise, Democrat 2020 nominee Sen. Amy Klobuchar this week, in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, claimed Trump wants the Russians to interfere in the 2020 elections.

Then you have Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams, who lost the governor’s race to Republican Brian Kemp by 55,000 votes, yet is still claiming she won. She recently declared, “I’m here to tell you a secret that makes Breitbart and Tucker Carlson go crazy: We won. I am not delusional.”

Delusional? No. But a liar and a political charlatan. It was Abrams’ nonprofit, the New Georgia Project, that flooded then-Secretary of State Kemp’s office with tens of thousands of incomplete, inaccurate, or outright fraudulent voter applications, and then claimed voter suppression and racism when Kemp’s office didn’t immediately approve the applications.

Here is the question for Democrats though: Why is it only voter fraud and voter suppression when you lose? Democrat Abrams lost her race for governor with more votes (1.9 million) than outgoing Republican Governor Nathan Deal won reelection with in 2014 (1.3 million). How do you get nearly 50% more votes than the previous victor and claim voter suppression?

Democrats claim Abrams was denied victory due to voter suppression by Republicans in Georgia. Yet Democrats picked up 11 state House and two state Senate seats in that election, almost all in the Republican-heavy North Atlanta suburbs.

The mindset seems to be that if Democrats won, they won fair and square. If they lose, it must be because Republicans cheated.

The sad fact is that only one party has a long and inglorious history of cheating and rigging elections — the Democrat Party. Democrats tried to steal the 2000 election from George W. Bush by pushing for recounts in only Democrat-dominated counties. Comedian Al Franken stole a Senate election from Republican Norm Coleman in 2008. The morning after the election, Coleman led by 725 votes. Democrats dispatched an army of lawyers, and eight months and several recounts later, Franken was declared the victor by the Democrat secretary of state. Audits would later show 1,099 felons illegally cast ballots in that race. Franken’s stolen election gave Democrats the 60th vote needed to pass scumbag/liar-nObamaCare.

When it comes to stolen elections, Democrats doth protest too much.  ~The Patriot Post
