Paul Albaugh: Who is it going to be for VP? That's the question on the minds of many since Donald Trump became the presumptive Republican nominee. There's little but speculation at this point, but it's worth taking a look at several potential picks and what they may or may not bring to the table to give Trump a stronger ticket for the presidency.
For the record, the office of vice president is viewed by many as one of the least important and undesirable offices in government. John Adams once complained to his wife Abigail, "My country has in its wisdom contrived for me the most insignificant office that ever the invention of man contrived or his imagination conceived."
However, the VP is an important position as he or she is responsible for assuming the presidency should something happen, not to mention serving as the president of the Senate — a critical position should the balance be 50-50. And in modern politics, particularly this election cycle, Trump's selection of a running mate could very well make or break his candidacy.
Trump has said he will make his pick by the end of this week, and by all indications he is leaning toward choosing someone who is more "political" than "military." Trump says, "I don't need two anti-establishment people," and he has indicated that he will likely pick someone who helps to unify the Republican Party.
The most floated names are Indiana Governor Mike Pence, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and retired Lieutenant General and former Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency Michael Flynn.
Pence is arguably the most conservative choice on the list, and in more ways than one. He identifies as being "a Christian, a conservative and a Republican — in that order." Pence could signal to conservatives that they are not forgotten. Pence brings both congressional and executive experience, and he's a calm and collected presence to counter Trump's temperament. Pence is, however, not extremely popular in his home state, as he opposed a state funded pre-kindergarten program and signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which was vehemently opposed by the Rainbow Mafia and many businesses in the Hoosier State.
Christie, a former presidential candidate himself, is well known, but is at best a moderate choice with perhaps more political baggage than other choices. Regardless, he has been vetted by Trump's team and despite the bridge-closing scandal that has tarnished his tenure as governor, he remains on the short list. Christie was very much anti-Trump during the primary debates, but shortly after dropping out, became an avid supporter. In fact, the two have become friends — so much so that Christie is managing Trump's presidential transition project. Christie is a lot like Trump in that he bluntly speaks his mind. However, Christie's approval rating is a paltry 26% in the Garden State, and those numbers do not indicate that he would add anything special — like turning New Jersey red — to Trump's candidacy.
Next on the list is Newt Gingrich, who, it goes without saying, is well known. His political knowledge and experience are perhaps unmatched by many of the other potential VPs. Gingrich is reportedly "actively lobbying" for the slot. Further, in a recent interview he stated, "If Trump offers the position and is serious about it, which I think he would be after our conversations, listen, I would feel compelled to serve the country." On the down side, Gingrich may be viewed as being past his prime, and also perhaps too much like Trump in both temperament and marital history. Trump has said there is a place in his administration for Gingrich. But is VP the right slot?
The last most-talked-about potential VP is Michael Flynn. Flynn no doubt would bring military, national security and intelligence experience to the Trump ticket. Aside from that, however, he doesn't bring much more. In fact, he could actually be a stumbling block for Trump, at least among conservatives who value life. Flynn's recent answer to a question on abortion was, "I think women have to be able to choose. ... They are the ones that have to make the decision because they're the ones that are going to decide to bring up that child or not." His answer would no doubt put him at odds with voters in the pro-life party.
Which of these choices — or perhaps a dark horse — will bolster Trump's chances of winning in November? Or perhaps the better question is, which of these potential picks is best qualified to be the proverbial one heartbeat away? -The Patriot Post

The agreement settled between the P5+1 (including the US, UK, Germany, France, China, and Russia) and Iran aims to slow advancements to Iran’s nuclear program by limiting its production of enriched uranium and nuclear weapons advancement in return for sanctions relief. Reflecting on the last twelve months, AEI scholars assess what has come to pass since the Islamic Republic reentered the global economy, Tehran’s continued role in the conflicts raging in Iraq and Syria, how Congress can press the administration to more effectively enforce the deal and, most importantly, the state of its nuclear program. The Iran nuclear deal was a US setback of enormous proportions, a diplomatic Waterloo. It cannot be fixed or renegotiated, but must be immediately, unambiguously terminated by the new president. Make no mistake, however; abrogation alone will not restore the status quo ante. Mr. nObama has fundamentally weakened our position by scuttling international sanctions, unfreezing assets and tolerating belligerent Iranian behavior that shows its utter contempt for the deal itself. Tehran has disproved any idea that acceding to its nuclear demands would cause basic shifts in its international conduct. The new president must, therefore, institute planning to oust the ayatollahs, a necessary but arduous task needlessly complicated by Mr. nObama’s mistakes...

The investigators found that UN officials remain in a “state of near denial” about this corruption: “The report is pretty devastating,” observes Brett Schaefer, an expert on U.N. finances at the conservative Heritage Foundation. “The U.N. apparently has very little interest in policing fraud, and there is very little reason to believe its own figures and data about it.” The JIU performed the investigation after numerous independent auditors “suspected fraud reporting statistics and erupting procurement scandals.” They found that over half of UN staffers and executives believe fraud goes unpunished in the organization. Iran funds Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations, and is second only to China in the large number of citizen executions. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei vows opposition to the United States and criticizes America's presence in the Persian Gulf. General Hossein Salami threatens the United States that Iran could close the Straits of Hormuz; and references the 2016 American sailors taken hostage on the Persian Gulf. Massive demonstrations in Tehran are against the United States and Israel; often Saudi Arabia is included in the burnt flags, torched effigies, and Death to America chants. Even before he took the podium, Prince Turki bin Faisal Al-Saud, appearing in the distinctive gold-edged dark cloak and white keffiyeh headdress of the Saudi royal family, of which he is a senior member, drew commentary and lots of second looks. The Prince is the founder of the King Faisal Foundation, and chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, and served from 1977-2001 as director general of Al-Mukhabarat Al-A'amah, Saudi Arabia's intelligence agency, resigning the position on 1 September 2001, some ten days before the attacks of 9/11. He took the podium late in the afternoon program on 9 July and, after a discourse on the shared Islamic history of the Middle East, launched into an attack on Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, whose 1979 revolution changed the course of history not just in Iran, but throughout the world. His next statement sent a shock wave through the assembly: Bin Faisal pledged support to the Iranian NCRI opposition and to its President-elect Maryam Rajavi personally. Given bin Faisal's senior position in the Saudi royal family and his long career in positions of key responsibility in the Kingdom, it can only be understood that he spoke for the Riyadh government. Congressional Black Corruption

{truthrevolt.org} ~ If Black Lives Matter, then why have entrenched members of the Congressional Black Caucus spent more time enriching themselves than taking care of their neglected constituents?Too many social justice protesters are busy throwing shade, rocks, bottles, concrete blocks and vicious death threats at police officers of all colors trying to keep the peace.
Instead of moaning about "#WhitePrivilege," I invite radical racial identity warriors to join me in taking on the black political elites selling out their people. Help expose the most crooked members of the caucus of Congressional Black Corruption:
Corrine Brown: This 12-term Democrat from Florida received a 24-count federal indictment last week while her Congressional Black Caucus colleagues tried to drown out the news with diversionary gun-control theatrics. Brown and her chief of staff are charged with creating a fraudulent education charity to collect over $800,000 in donations from major corporations and philanthropies for their own private slush fund between 2012 and early 2016.
The director of the hoax group, dubbed One Door for Education, Inc., pleaded guilty last year to fraud and conspiracy. Prosecutors say two relatives of Brown and her chief of staff steered tens of thousands of dollars in cash deposits to their accounts. The charitable contributions paid for lavish galas, NFL tickets, concert luxury box seats, golf tournaments and apparently Brown's tax bills.
Despite raising nearly a million bucks, Brown's "charity" only issued two measly educational scholarships for minority students. So while shamelessly claiming this week to be a martyr akin to the murdered Dallas police officers and victims of the Orlando jihad, Brown is embroiled in a sordid scandal that exploited black children's lives to line her own pockets.
You can't blame righty or whitey this time, Crooked Corrine.
Chaka Fattah: This 11-term Pennsylvania Democrat was convicted in late June on 23 charges of racketeering, money laundering and fraud, along with four other co-defendants. His son was sentenced earlier this year to a five-year prison term after being found guilty of 22 counts of separate federal bank and tax fraud charges related to his misuse of business loans and federal education contracts to pay for designer clothes, massive bar tabs and luxury cars.
Fattah the Elder's crimes are tied to schemes to repay an illegal $1 million campaign loan. Like his rotten apple of a son, Fattah siphoned off federal grant money and nonprofit funds including donations to his educational foundation -- sound familiar? to pay off political consultants.
The con artists inside your own communities are your own worst enemies.
Eddie Bernice Johnson: 12-term Democrat from Dallas, similarly helped steer thousands of dollars in Congressional Black Caucus Foundation college scholarships for four family members and two of her top aide's children in violation of the nonprofit's rules.
Maxine Waters: This 13-term Beltway swamp queen from California and past chair of the Congressional Black Caucus walked away with a slap on the wrist from the toothless House Ethics Committee in 2012 after being charged with multiple ethics violations related to her meddling in minority-owned OneUnited Bank.
The banks' executives donated $12,500 to Mad Maxine's congressional campaigns. Her husband, Sidney Williams, was an investor in one of the banks that merged into OneUnited. As stockholders, they profited handsomely from their relationship with the bank.
And vice versa. After Waters' office personally intervened and lobbied the Treasury Department in 2008, the financial institution received $12 million in federal TARP bailout money -- despite another government agency concluding that the bank operated "without effective underwriting standards" and engaged "in speculative investment practices." Top bank executive Kevin Cohee squandered money on a company-financed Porsche and a Santa Monica, California, beachfront mansion. After the federal bailout of Fannie/Freddie, OneUnited's stock in the government-sponsored enterprises plunged to a value estimated at less than $5 million. Only through Waters' intervention was OneUnited able to secure an emergency meeting with the Treasury and its then-Secretary Henry Paulson.
Waters' government cronyism earned her a "Most Corrupt member of Congress" designation from the left-wing Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.
Then there's Alcee Hastings, the 12-term Florida corruptocrat impeached while a federal judge in 1989 for making false statements and producing false documents in a 1983 criminal trial accusing him of seeking a $150,000 bribe. He went on to win a seat in Congress in 1992 and used his position to enrich his various lady friends, including paying one girlfriend-turned-congressional deputy district director more than half a million dollars in salary and another he calls a "staff assistant" to accompany on his endless junkets abroad.
Those three are just the start. There's Texas' Sheila Jackson Lee and the Medicare fraud racket involving a local hospital in her district; Greg Meeks and his $400,000 earmark for a fake health clinic in New York City and Caribbean resort jaunts underwritten by convicted financier Allen Stanford; and Wisconsin's Gwen Moore and her lucrative friends and family. And, of course, the ethics violations, shady business deals and tax troubles from New York's Charlie Rangel deserve their own encyclopedia.
My message for BLM? Put down your black power fists and weapons. Give the "#BlueLivesMurder" and "Fry 'em up like bacon" chants a rest. Aim your outrage at self-serving black leaders and their abject failure to improve black people's lives.
