House Democratic Rules Package Could
Mean More Spending, Higher Taxes
As Congress gears up for the new term, the House of Representatives is preparing a vote this week on rules to govern the 116th Congress... A few notable provisions are grabbing the headlines, such as allowing the speaker to “intervene” in challenges to scumbag/liar-nObamacare, establishing a new select committee on climate change, and making it harder to call for a mid-session vote for speaker. But several provisions impact the federal budget, and not for the better. Rather than promoting fiscal restraint, the House is considering rules changes that would move in the opposite direction. The results could mean more deficit spending and higher taxes for many Americans. Here are four proposed rules changes the House should reconsider. 1. Adoption of a “Gephardt rule,” which would allow the House to avoid a direct vote on the debt limit. 2. Eliminating dynamic scoring. 3. Removing supermajority protection against tax increases. 4. Allowing amendments to appropriations bills that increase net spending... Rules changes are an opportunity for Congress to take on more budget restraint and transparency. Here are three alternative rules changes that would further those goals. 1. Account for interest costs when considering legislation. 2. End unauthorized appropriations. 3. Reinstate the Holman rule... https://www.dailysignal.com/2019/01/02/house-democratic-rules-package-could-mean-more-spending-higher-taxes/?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTmpNMVpEZzRObVZsWkRkbSIsInQiOiIzQnlRSE1lVkI1dFBnV2VWK0FqZ1wvSGo1ZkdJXC9yQ09QUmkxZzVvMHl5XC9EUWFyOEVnU1wvVTUxOEh2RGc2Q1BrT2ZZeHhvbGxBb3VrbnlNZWZBQXRXMnhmbmhnRXR0UGlYK1pEREhwSE5SNGc5Wjd1b0cyM255TlUyYnlwUDVtemoifQ%3D%3D .
House Democrat to introduce
impeachment measure against Trump
{washingtonexaminer.com} ~ A California Democrat is wasting no time trying to impeach President Trump as the Democratic Party retakes control of the House... Rep. Brad Sherman plans to reintroduce a measure Thursday — the first day of Democratic control of the chamber — that accuses Trump of obstructing justice in the Russia investigation. Sherman listed the firing of former FBI Director scumbag-James Comey as proof of the alleged obstruction. “There is no reason it shouldn’t be before the Congress,” Sherman said, according to the Los Angeles Times. “Every day, Donald Trump shows that leaving the White House would be good for our country.”Sherman originally introduced the measure in 2017 with Rep. Al Green, D-Texas. “I author Articles of Impeachment not to change our national policy,” Sherman said in a statement at the time. “I served with Mike Pence in Congress for twelve years and I disagree with him on just about everything. I never dreamed I would author a measure that would put him in the White House. I am introducing Articles of Impeachment to begin a long process to protect our country from abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and impulsive, ignorant incompetence.” Incoming House Speaker Nancy Pulosi, D-Calif., said Democrats will have to wait and see what special counsel dirty cop-Robert Mueller concludes in his investigation before moving on impeachment... Sherman is showing his hatred for Trump. He has no other evidence. Mexican Mayor Assassinated First Day In Office
by TIM BROWN
{freedomoutpost.com} ~ A newly sworn-in mayor in Mexico was assassinated on his first day in office. Alejandro Aparicio Santiago... a member of the National Regeneration Movement, had just taken office in Tlaxiaco when he was attacked. Alejandro Aparicio Santiago had just taken office Tuesday and was walking to his first official meeting at city hall when a group of gunmen opened fire. The mayor died at the hospital, according to The Associated Press. Aparicio was a member of the Mexico's National Regeneration Movement, MORENA, the party of newly elected President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. The Oaxaca branch of the party issued condolences and a call for authorities to punish those responsible. A suspect has been taken into custody. Tlaxiaco is the hometown of Yalitza Aparicio, star of the film "Roma." Mexico has seen its share of assassinations of politicians who have been against the crime syndicate. Earlier this year, in June, we reported that 113 Mexican politicians had been killed in less than a year...https://{/mexican-mayor-assassinated-first-day-in-office/

Why America Cannot Afford
to Pull Out of Afghanistan
{dailysignal.com} ~ While the White House and U.S. military commanders insist no decision has been made, Washington is alive with speculation... that President Donald Trump intends to order the withdrawal of half of the 14,000 U.S. military personnel currently operating in Afghanistan. The president, who has been critical of the Afghan war in the past, made an abrupt decision to withdraw all U.S. military personnel from Syria last month, so the threat of ordering a similar move in Afghanistan is not a hollow one. It would, however, be a mistake. Each week, a new media outlet trots out a different statistic to show how the Taliban is either gaining ground, losing ground, or has fought the U.S. and Afghan government to a stalemate. The latter is probably the closest to the truth, but even that can be deceiving: A stalemate implies gridlock, but not parity. As several of my Heritage Foundation colleagues recently explained, the Taliban can indeed operate freely in large parts of the rural countryside, but they only “control or influence” areas where 10.5 percent of the Afghan population lives. The government’s writ, meanwhile, extends to areas where 65 percent of the population lives. The rest is contested... https://www.dailysignal.com/2019/01/02/why-america-cannot-afford-to-pull-out-of-afghanistan/?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTmpNMVpEZzRObVZsWkRkbSIsInQiOiIzQnlRSE1lVkI1dFBnV2VWK0FqZ1wvSGo1ZkdJXC9yQ09QUmkxZzVvMHl5XC9EUWFyOEVnU1wvVTUxOEh2RGc2Q1BrT2ZZeHhvbGxBb3VrbnlNZWZBQXRXMnhmbmhnRXR0UGlYK1pEREhwSE5SNGc5Wjd1b0cyM255TlUyYnlwUDVtemoifQ%3D%3D.
New Mexican President Makes
Bold Move to Reduce Migration to the U.S.
{restoreamericanglory.com} ~ The election of new Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador could prove to be the best thing to happen for the United States since the election of Donald Trump himself... Unlike his predecessor, the man known popularly as AMLO is serious about working with the U.S. to reduce the number of immigrants flowing across the border, and he’s willing to take bold steps towards keeping Mexicans in Mexico. This includes the creation of economic “free zones” along the border, which will hopefully encourage the kind of economic growth that Mexico needs to stay competitive in a global marketplace. The San Diego Union-Tribune reported this week that AMLO has announced The Tax Incentive Decree for the Northern Border Region proposal to attract investments to the area and cut down on the number of Mexicans looking for employment in the United States. Inside the zone, the paper reports, income taxes will be reduced by a third and sales taxes will be slashed in half on imported goods. Minimum wages will go up by 100%, and fuel prices will be cut to match those found in the United States. “It’s going to be the biggest free zone in the world,” AMLO said. “It is very important to project for winning investment, creating jobs and taking advantage of the economic strength of the United States.”AMLO cannot be confused with a “Mexican Donald Trump” as far as policy style goes; he veers to the left while Trump leans to the right. But in their populist styles, they are more similar than they are different, leading many to figure that Trump and AMLO could work better together for the good of both nations. We can question whether what Mexico’s economy needs right now is a kind of heavy-handed, government-funded economic free zone, but if it helps cut down on the number of “economic refugees” that come across the border, it’s all the better for us... http://www.restoreamericanglory.com/breaking-news/new-mexican-president-makes-bold-move-to-reduce-migration-to-the-u-s/

Mattis Sends Powerful Farewell
Message On Last Day In Office
by KARA PENDLETON
{westernjournal.com} ~ There have been a lot of rumors and speculation being floated since news broke that Gen. James “Mad Dog” Mattis was exiting his role as secretary of defense.
Mattis had huge support from both sides of the aisle when he was first nominated for the position.
He made clear in his resignation letter that he had some disagreement with President Donald Trump over certain decisions. To some this reflected badly on Mattis, but to others it was an honorable thing for him to leave so someone who was on the same page with the commander in chief could serve him better.
Any question about the man’s honor and integrity may be put to rest with his leaked final farewell message to Department of Defense employees. A class act to the end, Mattis did not bash the current administration but offered words of encouragement to the federal workers.
Those powerful words, now leaked, could apply to more than workers he was specifically addressing. Americans everywhere can also find encouragement and hope in his parting message.
Mattis quoted a Civil War telegram from President Abraham Lincoln to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant was in his message.
The brief statement began with that quote: “Let nothing which is transpiring, change, hinder, or delay your military movements, or plans.”
He then offered his own words of encouragement.
“Our Department’s leadership, civilian and military, remains in the best possible hands. I am confident that each of you remains undistracted from our sworn mission to support and defend the Constitution while protecting our way of life.”
“Our Department is proven to be at its best when the times are most difficult. So keep the faith in our country and hold fast, alongside our allies, aligned against our foes.”
His words were the polar opposite of those of outgoing President Barack scumbag/liar-nObama, who told troops at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida to “speak your mind and protest against” authority. He also spoke to them about their right to “criticize a president without retribution,” which could be taken as encouragement to speak out against then-incoming President Donald Trump.
In Mattis’s resignation letter he vowed to do all he could to make it a smooth transition for all involved
“I pledge my full effort to a smooth transition that ensures the needs and interests of the 2.15 million Service Members and 732,079 DoD civilians receive undistracted attention of the Department at all times so that they can fulfill their critical, round-the-clock mission to protect the American people.”
His farewell message to the members of the DOD showed that commitment in action. In his resignation, Mattis spoke of waiting until February to leave so there would be sufficient time for the administration to do their part in replacing him.
Initially, Trump echoed Mattis’ leave date. But later that changed.
Mattis’ final memo showed no ill will toward the president, nor did he encourage federal employees to rebel against or “criticize” the president.
His words were encouraging and hopeful. He spoke of DOD employees staying focused on doing their jobs and serving the public, despite any “distractions.”
Regardless of how he may have felt, Mattis remained steadfast in acting with integrity. And that is one of the qualities many have admired in him.
