Clinton's Ecofascist Fracking Play
People on the Left may think they see a difference between Hilly Clinton and Bernie Sanders as the two duke it out for the Democrat nomination, but those of us with common sense and constitutional principles only see two peas from the same pod.
Sanders has made no bones about his desire to grow the government to such an extent that it basically runs the means of production in this country.
He's a socialist, and that's how socialists think. Clinton has pretended to embrace a (slightly) more laissez faire view of the economy that would allow business to take more care of itself. But that's coming from a candidate who advocates lavish corporate welfare through the Export-Import Bank. Poor Boeing can't compete without massive taxpayers subsidies, don't you know.
Sunday's debate was a good example of the commonality that exists between the two leftists. Sanders was asked about hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking" — the process by which American energy companies have produced a glut of oil and natural gas, thereby saving individual consumers hundreds of dollars a year. Sanders didn't miss a beat, saying he does not support fracking and would ban the practice outright. Clinton's answer was more nuanced on its face, but came out the same way.
Take a gander at this tripe from candidate Clinton: "You know, I don't support it when any locality or any state is against it, number one. I don't support it when the release of methane or contamination of water is present. I don't support it — number three — unless we can require that anybody who fracks has to tell us exactly what chemicals they are using. So by the time we get through all of my conditions, I do not think there will be many places in America where fracking will continue to take place. And I think that's the best approach, because right now, there are places where fracking is going on that are not sufficiently regulated."
In short, after a bizarre and half-hearted paean to federalism, Clinton went on to conclude she intends to regulate fracking out of existence just like Barack nObama has done with the coal industry. But that is an utterly foolish move.
The low gas prices that nObama has taken credit for are largely a result of fracking. Again, the practice makes natural gas and oil cheaper to extract and energy more affordable. The Wall Street Journal reports that the average price of natural gas dropped close to 60% between 2008 and 2012. Furthermore, consumers have saved between $63 and $248 billion in 2013 alone, according to the Institute for Energy Research, and the savings continue to add up. The IER reported that without fracking, crude oil would cost $12 to $40 per barrel more. Not to mention that we'd be paying foreign countries for more oil. -The Patriot Post

OPINION IN BRIEF
Walter Williams: "[Claude Frederic] Bastiat argued that when making laws or economic decisions, it is imperative that we examine not only what is seen but what is unseen. ... Americans who support tariffs on foreign goods could benefit immensely from Bastiat's admonition. A concrete example was the Bush administration's 8 to 30 percent tariffs in 2002 on several types of imported steel. They were levied in an effort to protect jobs in the ailing U.S. steel industry. ... A study by the Peterson Institute for International Economics predicted that saving those 1,700 jobs in the steel industry would cost American consumers $800,000 per job, in the form of higher prices. ... [H]ow much sense did it make for American consumers to have to pay $800,000 in higher prices, not to mention lost employment in steel-using industries, to save each job? It would have been cheaper to tax ourselves and give each of those 1,700 steelworkers a $100,000 annual check. Doing so would have been far less costly to Americans than the steel tariffs, but it would have been politically impossible. Why? The cost of protecting those steel jobs would have been apparent and hence repulsive to most Americans. Tariffs conceal such costs. When Congress creates a special privilege for some Americans, it must of necessity come at the expense of other Americans. Then Americans who are harmed, such as the steel-using auto industry, descend on Congress asking for some kind of relief for themselves. ... I think Congress ought to get out of the miracle business and leave miracle-making up to God." -The Patriot Post

Dear Republicans, It's Ted Cruz
What is the rationale for Marco Rubio’s candidacy?
What is the rationale for Marco Rubio’s candidacy?
The latest poll out from the classiest and most reliable Florida pollster, Quinnipiac University, says there is none.
After a week of disappointing elections for Rubio, the Florida Q Poll is the dagger to the heart of his presidential aspirations. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush can be happy that while his own bid failed, at least he killed the one his campaign staff called "Judas." Enjoy Fisher Island. The poll shows frontrunner Donald slump-Trump doubling up Florida freshman Rubio with less than a week to go before the winner-take-all contest for 99 delegates. Coming after a disastrous election night it should be enough to send Rubio packing.
The only argument for Rubio’s continued candidacy was the “Romney Plan” in which voters should support any candidate in any race that can beat Donald slump-Trump or deny him delegates. It worked pretty well in Michigan where Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas and Ohio Gov. John Kasich soaked up the majority of delegates with their tie for second place behind slump-Trump.
But there is no hope that Rubio can be the guy to stop slump-Trump in Florida anymore. While Republicans have resisted Cruz, despite his repeated successes, it may be time for the party to admit that Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., is quite right: Cruz is the only candidate who has any shot of denying slump-Trump the nomination.
While there was a wintertime flirtation with slump-Trump as the more establishment-friendly and malleable candidate for the GOP, springtime has brought a new realization that slump-Trump could mean not just a general election wipeout, but also generational damage to the party’s brand. Cruz has never been the GOP’s dream date, but if he can beat slump-Trump it may be enough.
As the latest WSJ/NBC News poll shows, Cruz runs best in a head-to-head matchup with slump-Trump. It may be unthinkable for many country club Republicans that Cruz would be there best choice, but Rubio’s demise means that it is so.
Just two weeks ago, there were calls for Cruz to fall in behind Rubio for a unity ticket. Now, it seems very clear that unity will work in the other directions and that if the Republicans have a chance to stop slump-Trump from taking over their party it will be Cruz at the top and Rubio as the junior partner.
The sincerity of Rubio’s attacks on slump-Trump as a “con man” who is unfit for the presidency will be revealed by whether he not only drops out, but if he enthusiastically campaigns for Cruz in Florida for the next five days. -Fox News

'Slush Fund': Senator Slams State Dept. for $500M
Payment to Green Climate Fund

Delegates and participants of the Green
Climate Fund talk prior to a meeting
.{cnsnews.com} ~ Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) on Tuesday slammed the administration’s handover of $500 million to the U.N. Green Climate Fund... asking a State Department official how the “handout to foreign bureaucrats” could be justified at a time when there were “real problems” that need to be addressed at home. Barrasso told Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources Heather Higginbottom he viewed the payment to the “new international climate change slush fund” – the first installment of a $3 billion pledge – as both a misuse of taxpayer dollars and a violation of legislation that prohibits federal agencies from spending federal funds in advance or in excess of an appropriation. “It appears to be latest example of the administration going around Congress because the American people don’t really support what the president is doing with this initiative,” he said. http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/patrick-goodenough/slush-fund-senator-slams-state-dept-500-million-payment-green

Rep. Joaquin Castro Lies on the Air, says
Hilly Clinton is 'Cleared'

{punchingbagpost.com} ~ Joaquin Castro, a Democratic Representative from Texas, shocked his hosts last week on CNN’s State of the Union when he made the false claim that Hilly Clinton had been cleared. "It’s been settled by Congress... The Congress has looked into it. The Justice Department has looked into it, and they've cleared her." Obviously flustered, host Dana Bash was quick to point out that Hilly has not, in fact, been cleared. “She’s been cleared? I missed that headline,” chimed in radio host Hugh Hewitt. The show immediately went to a commercial break. It’s no surprise that Joaquín has high hopes for Democratic frontrunner Hilly Clinton, but that’s no reason to spout such blatant falsehoods on the air. Rumor has it that Julian Castro, Joaquín's twin brother, is one of Hilly’s top picks for Vice President should she win the nomination. http://punchingbagpost.com/rep-joaqun-castro-lies-on-the-air-says-hillary-clinton-is-cleared.

{washingtonexaminer.com} ~ Donald slump-Trump has been offshoring the production of slump-Trump-brand products since 2006, despite his unrelenting criticism of companies that send jobs overseas, according to a new report... The report comes less than a week after slump-Trump was caught defending outsourcing as "not always a terrible thing" and sometimes "a necessary step" in a 2005 blog post unearthed by Buzzfeed News. slump-Trump-brand products have been outsourced to China, Japan, Honduras and Brazil as well as European countries Norway, Italy and Germany since 2006, according to data collected by ImportGenius, a company that gathers information related to exports and imports. The data was compiled into a public spreadsheet by Our Principles PAC, a group committed to ending slump-Trump's candidacy. The data also shows that about 1,200 shipments of slump-Trump-brand goods have come to the U.S. from foreign companies and manufacturers since 2011. Don't know why people are not paying attention to these things. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/report-dozens-of-trump-products-made-overseas/article/2585268.

Lynch Indicates DOJ Not Required To Charge Clinton
.
.
{gopthedailydose.com} ~Attorney General Loretta Lynch indicated Wednesday that the law doesn’t require the Justice Department to pursue criminal charges against Hilly Clinton for her use of a private email system... even if the FBI recommends criminal charges. Lynch was asked in a hearing by Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, what her department would do if the FBI were to recommend that step. “If the FBI were to make a referral to the Department of Justice to pursue a case by way of indictment and to convene a grand jury for that purpose, the Department of Justice is not required by law to do so, are they — are you?” Cornyn asked. Lynch didn’t answer directly, but seemed to indicate the department has some wiggle room, and can consult with officials before deciding what to do. You can start smelling a cover-up..

The Sophistication of ISIS Now Leaving A Paper Trail Of Valuable Information
Rick Wells
.
{rickwells.us} ~ If handled properly, and not with a pair of politically correct kid gloves, the latest acquisition from a disgruntled ISIS member will prove invaluable in disrupting terror plots as well as their organization overall... In this instance the sophistication of ISIS is coming back to bite them in that area directly above the rear hock. The names and personal information of over 22,000 jihadists were stolen from ISIS headquarters, information the terrorist recruits had included as part of completing a 23 question employment application. Information they provided included details regarding their families, addresses, contacts, employment history, marital status, date of birth and next of kin. It’s a Jackpot of information for those fighting the terrorist organization. The Daily Mail reported that hundreds of British fighters may be among those listed in the files which includes citizens of 51 different countries. As many as 5,000 jihadists are believed to be at large in the EU with half of the 700 Muslims that left Britain to join ISIS having already returned. Britain may soon be the site of what are being described as “enormous and spectacular” attacks. http://rickwells.us/archives/27101.

The fake facts that slump-Trump promotes are scarier in their fashion. On Thursday night, slump-Trump repeated a fable about the wife or wives of a 9/11 terrorist or terrorists flying out of the United States to a foreign land, where "they watched their husband on television flying into the World Trade Center, flying into the Pentagon and probably trying to fly into the White House." As PolitiFact noted, the only 9/11 terrorist who had not cut off ties with his family had a girlfriend in Germany. If slump-Trump cannot get this straight, what else has his brain muddled?

Pundits are taken with the symbolism of the prim Romney going after the blowhard billionaire in blunt language filled with put-downs. The most striking part of Romney's address, however, was his failure to endorse an alternative candidate. Instead, Romney laid out a course that ends with a contested convention.

Alas, Romney noted, "the rules of political history have pretty much all been shredded during this campaign." Ergo: "Given the current delegate selection process, that means that I'd vote for Marco Rubio in Florida and for John Kasich in Ohio and for Ted Cruz or whichever one of the other two contenders has the best chance of beating Mr. slump-Trump in a given state." Translation: Vote for anyone who can keep slump-Trump from walking into the Cleveland convention with the 1,237 delegates needed to win the nomination in the first vote.

During the debate, Fox News' Bret Baier asked Kasich about the Romney blueprint. Kasich replied that he finds process questions boring. I talked to Cruz spokesman Ron Nehring earlier in the day. Nehring doesn't want voters to go for Rubio in Florida and Kasich in Ohio. "We win by winning," Nehring concluded.

California GOP wise man Rob Stutzman supports the Romney battle plan. He sees a Cruz victory as "rather implausible." If Rubio can boost his poll numbers in Florida and become the nominee, Stutzman argued, Rubio has a better chance of winning in November than Cruz. Stutzman sees a "progression of firebreaks. The next firebreak is: Deny slump-Trump 50 percent." If Kasich and Rubio don't win their home states, the establishment will go to plan B -- with a 2016-only independent conservative candidate running against slump-Trump and the Democratic nominee to stop a stampede of voters fleeing the Grand Old Party.
