This Issue: GOP Leadership floats its plan to grant amnesty to illegal aliens

We've already had an amazing week of activism! Hundreds of activists made district office visits or challenged their Representatives at a town hall meeting. And tens of thousands more sent faxes through our free faxing system.

But next week, we'll need to make even more noise. On Monday, as Members return to Washington from their recess, we'll launch a massive calling campaign telling Republicans that any legalization for illegal aliens is amnesty!

The House GOP Leadership is drafting a set of "immigration principles" that they plan to unveil over the next few days. Based on news reports this week, we fully expect an amnesty to be included on the list. Individuals close to the situation have been leaking bits and pieces to the news media of what's being discussed in order to test the waters and find out exactly how far they can go.

Just yesterday, it was widely reported that the No. 3 Republican in the House, Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), now supports an amnesty for illegal aliens. GOP leaders think that if the amnesty doesn't grant a special path to citizenship, then it's not amnesty. But they're wrong.

Here's what McCarthy told local news in Bakersfield, Calif.:

"The principles aren't combined, written out yet, but in my personal belief I think it'll go with legal status that will allow you to work and pay your taxes...

"...that's my personal position."

-- House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy

In the same breath, Rep. McCarthy said, "there won't be amnesty."

We need to deliver the message to all House Republicans that any plan that grants legal status and work permits to illegal aliens is amnesty.

Roy has posted a new blog that discusses our immigration principles. He doesn't provide a set of policy ideas resembling what we expect to see from GOP leadership early next week; instead, he lists what he calls "ethical principles" that should be considered by Congress while drafting policy. Read through Roy's blog and please leave a comment at the bottom.

  • Here are 5 Republican Representatives that need to hear from us:

    Gowdy - SC

    Chaffetz - Utah

    Amash - MI.

    Elmers - NC

    Scalise - Louisiana

We need them to OPPOSE this Amnesty and we can KILL it.

  • Frank, was this march in DC?  Do you know how many people were involved?

  • This GOP party has clearly lost their way and makes the battle to save America so unnecessarily steeper. However, if in our battle it means we need to clean house, then we will indeed do that along the way.

  • NOT granting Illegals Citizenship but Legal Status is still AMNESTY. AND, after a short while, these people, their Lawyers, LaRaza, The Democrat Party, Obama, & the RINOS, will be screaming that we can't have a 2nd. Class people in America, how "unfair and unjust" it would be.

AND, it does NOTHING to solve the problem of MORE Illegals entering AFTER this new Amnesty.

Phone your Reps, and McCarthy that you want: 1. A Fully secured border, 2. Pass mandatory E-verify, & 3. Stopping visa overstays, as a separate bill, B/4 ANY further discussions on this issue. Period.

AND, they would still get to stay here ahead of all those waiting LEGALLY and respecting our LAWS, PHONE!!!
