I've got a very good idea; let's make sure every time we vote, we vote for a Democrat. They are so very trustworthy, above board and honest with the voters who pay their salaries. Especially, in passing legislation.
One good example is the Governor of New York State; Andrew Cuomo. Jan. 14, 2013 the New York State Senate passed gun control legislation with almost no mention that any legislation was in the works. Gov. Cuomo says even gun confiscation is possible. There is only one reason I know why votes are conducted at night. Those in power are trying to sneak past us laws they know or believe we'll oppose. If I got caught doing something behind my employer's back, I'd get fired.
This is the same Andrew Cuomo who said little or nothing about his support for same sex marriage during his gubernatorial campaign. The next thing you know, it was passed. I don't recall any debate or a poll taken. Maybe that is because he knew if there was a popular vote, the measure would have been defeated. A popular vote on the gay marriage was taken in 31 states. Gay marriage lost in every one of those states. In the 10 states (Mass.,Conn.,Iowa, VT., N.H.,MD., N.Y. D.C., WA., Maine,) where gay marriage is legal, eight of those states they have Democrats as governors. Those eight states passed gay marriage by legislation or court order. Not, by popular vote. The remaining two states (Maine and Maryland) passed it by popular vote. That means in 80% of the states where same sex marriage is legal the politicians and judges which we've empowered and who's salaries we pay, just decided to ignore the will of the people. Therefore if Cuomo had put it to the people he risked about a 92% chance that we'd have voted it down.
Face it! If you think voters are still are in charge, of federal or state governments, when is concerns guns, gay marriage or how much of our money is taxed away from us, you need to wake up. Can you name for me the last time the voters threw out a politician for going against the will of the people? Neither can I.

P.S. Jan. 15, 2013. The new gun law passed the N.Y. State Legislature. Which now restricts ammunition in the gun to be reduced to 7 rounds maximum. Anyone owning a magazine more than 7 rounds is now a misdemeanor offender and required to sell that magazine. The fact that I spent 20 years as a N.Y. City Police Officer doesn't matter; that means me too. The Governor just took millions of New yorkers who pay his salary and made them criminals with a stroke of his pen. During discussion about this bill it is my understanding that the Governor asked if it would be possible to have N.Y. State Troopers go door to door confiscating guns. This guy is an attorney and former prosecutor. Has he even read the Constitution? Every citizen needs to walk up to his public official, look him in the eye and shout "I DON'T WORK FOR YOU. YOU WORK FOR ME". Or better yet. Let's vote for more Democrats.
