on heels of Nielsen resignation

{ foxnews.com } ~ U.S. Secret Service Director Randolph ‘Tex’ Alles is stepping down from his post, officials said Monday, in the latest shake-up at the Department of Homeland Security... following outgoing Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s resignation. Sources told Fox News on Monday that Alles was notified 10 days ago to "prepare an exit plan," in a signal that a transition in leadership at the Department of Homeland Security was imminent. Alles was told that he should be prepared to leave his post as head of the Secret Service as part of that transition. “United States Secret Service director Randolph 'Tex' Alles has done a great job at the agency over the last two years, and the President is thankful for his over 40 years of service to the country," White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a brief statement Monday. She said that Trump has picked career Secret Service member James M. Murray to take over the agency in May. Alles will remain in his role until then. A law enforcement official told Fox News that, inside the agency, the news of Alles' departure came as a surprise....

{ foxnews.com } ~ American tourist Kimberly Sue Endicott and her safari guide were freed days after a group of men kidnapped them at gunpoint in Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park... and demanded a ransom for their safe release, officials said Sunday. Endicott and the driver, Jean-Paul Mirenge Remezo, were freed from their captors and are in "good health," Uganda Police Force said on Twitter Sunday. The kidnappers had used Endicott’s phone to demand a $500,000 ransom for the safe return of the duo, but it's unclear if the money was paid. Endicott and the guide were rescued alive in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), said Ofwono Opondo P'Odel, the executive director of Uganda's Public Communications. The national park is near the border of the DRC. Further details about the duo's release were not immediately released. "Police & its sister security agencies have today rescued Ms.Kimberley Sue, an American tourist together with her guide who were kidnapped while on an evening game drive at Queen Elizabeth National park.The duo are in good health & in the safe hands of the joint security team," Uganda Police Force said in a statement. Uganda Wildlife also confirmed both people were in "safe hands" and thanked security agencies who led the mission to their rescue. "The rescue of kidnapped tourist Kimberly Sue and driver guide Jean Paul is complete. Both captives back in safe hands. We thank our security agencies who led the mission. This was a one off and isolated incident. { investigativeproject.org } ~ Tariq Ramadan, grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hasan al-Banna, received €35,000 – roughly $39,290 – per month from the Qatar Foundation as a "consultant," documents... obtained by French journalists Christian Chesnot and Georges Malbrunot show, the Swiss newspaper Tribune de Genve reported. Ramadan received a further €19,000 from organizations such as the League of Muslims in Switzerland when he was arrested last year on rape charges. Chesnot and Malbrunot detail this information in their book Qatar Papers - How the emirate finances Islam in France and Europe. Their work discloses Qatar's central role in funding Muslim Brotherhood operations across Europe. They say they received the supporting documents on a USB stick sent by a whistleblower. It contained Qatar Charity bank records, internal emails and more. The charity, like Qatar Foundation, is run by Qatar's ruling Al-Thani family. The spending serves Qatar's political goal of supporting the Muslim Brotherhood, analysts told the journalists in their accompanying documentary, a portion of which has been posted online. The Brotherhood aims to control people's public and private lives, they said, and to obtain political power with the end goal of establishing their caliphate. Qatar Charity may be best known in the West for its funding of terrorist operations. French intelligence reported in 2013 that Qatar Charity funded an al-Qaida linked terrorist group in Mali called Ansar Dine. It also helped finance the 1998 al-Qaida bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. { townhall.com } ~ The flood tide of illegal immigrants crossing our southern border cannot and must not continue. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has said of it, "The system is broken and overwhelmed. It is a national emergency."
The definition of emergency might help focus attention:
"A sudden, urgent, usually unexpected occurrence or occasion requiring immediate action."
This is an issue that should command immediate congressional action. Graham told The Washington Times that virtually every immigrant entering the country illegally over the last six months has ignored deportation orders and failed to appear at court hearings. Graham said he got his information from Immigration and Customs Enforcement Acting Director Ron Vitiello.
The Department of Homeland Security issued a press release last month warning that the situation at the border had reached a "breaking point." DHS reported that illegal immigration just hit a 12-year high, with more than 76,000 immigrants illegally crossing the border in February. Agents are overwhelmed, and no one in Congress seems concerned about the cost to local services and American citizens who are footing the bill.
More migrants are on the way. According to the U.K.'s Daily Telegraph, Mexico's interior secretary, Olga Sanchez Cordero, has warned "the mother of all migrant caravans" is forming in Honduras. Sanchez Cordero said that the caravan includes about 20,000 migrants, and that another caravan of 2,500 migrants is currently heading north."
If these were members of a military force it would be called an invasion.
President Trump has threatened to close the border "or large sections of the border" this week if nothing is done to stem the tide. He should.
Last week, Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen visited Honduras, where she met with ministers representing that country, Guatemala and El Salvador. A memorandum of cooperation on border security was signed. A DHS press release said the agreement, "aims to better synchronize cooperation between the countries in order to bolster border security, prevent the formation of new migrant caravans, and address the root causes of the migration crisis through better synchronized efforts."
But over the weekend, the Trump administration cut off aid to Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. That's a good first step. Closing the border would be the logical next and essential step.
Congress under both party majorities could and should have fixed this problem long ago. Both parties share equal blame for failing to reform our immigration laws. Democrats see the potential for future votes for their candidates. Republicans and their campaign contributors want cheap labor.
History is a great teacher. In 1921, during the Warren Harding administration, Congress decided the massive immigration that had occurred in the previous decade should be limited so that newcomers to America could be properly assimilated. During the Calvin Coolidge administration, Congress toughened that law, capping immigration at 2 percent of a country's residents living in the United States. This lasted until the 1960s, when immigration laws became more liberal.
According to the website u-s-history.com, "After July 1, 1927, the two percent rule was to be replaced by an overall cap of 150,000 immigrants annually ...
"College students, professors and ministers were exempted from the quotas. Initially immigration from the other Americas was allowed, but measures were quickly developed to deny legal entry to Mexican laborers. The clear aim of this law was to restrict the entry of immigrants from Southern and Eastern Europe, while welcoming relatively large numbers of newcomers from Britain and Ireland."
Try this experiment to help focus on what America will become without proper border control. Take a glass of milk and begin pouring water into it. At first, the milk is diluted. If the pouring continues, the water will replace the milk.
This is what is taking place along the border. It must be stopped or the America we have known and loved will be no more.
