HHS Secretary Alex Azar encouraged
by proposed coronavirus vaccine timeline

{ foxnews.com } ~ Health and Human Services (HHS) Sec. Alex Azar said Wednesday that he is encouraged by the proposed timeline for a coronavirus vaccine... In an interview on "America's Newsroom," Azar said that the doctors  President Trump met with Tuesday, including NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, had designed a vaccine within three days of getting the genetic sequence to the virus  from China. "Then, just two days ago the FDA granted approval for the NIH [National Institutes of Health]  -- that's Dr. Fauci's group -- to begin what's called 'phase one' clinical testing in about five weeks," he explained.  "That's where we're going to test the safety of this vaccine probably in about 40 to 50 people." Azar said that it would take a year to 18 months before there could be a fully-developed vaccine because it needs to be as safe as it is effective. "So, we're talking a lot more about the therapeutics that may be getting developed," he said. "Existing medicines are getting tested as we speak on people who have the virus because somebody who has the virus -- your safety efficacy balance is a little bit different because you're going to see if that works." Azar remains upbeat by the progress. "I'm certainly encouraged by that vaccine timeline," Azar told the "Newsroom" hosts. "That would be probably the fastest vaccine delivery in human history. If we could get a vaccine developed in 12 to 18 months, that's incredible." He also noted therapies and antivirals could potentially "deliver faster" results. Azar emphasized that the ability to test patients for the virus is "radically expanding." Thus far, more than 90,000 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed worldwide with more than 3,100 deaths; 108 of those cases have been recorded in the United States with nine of those deaths in Washington state alone. The death rate for the virus, which targets the elderly or those with weak immune systems, is now marked at 3.4 percent. Speaking to a gaggle of reporters at the White House on Tuesday, President Trump told Fox News' John Roberts that potential for recorded cases in all 50 states is not "inevitable at all," but that the administration is "being very stringent" and watching other countries handle the outbreak and thinking of taking more action. The administration is reportedly also considering using the National Disaster Medical System to pay for both testing and care for those who are uninsured. As hand sanitizer and face masks fly off American shelves the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), under the visage of Vice President Mike Pence's task force, will reportedly ship over one million testing capabilities to hospitals and labs across the country by the end of the week. Azar has this advice to the American people. "Use common sense," he said, stressing that the overall risk of someone contracting novel coronavirus remains low.    https://www.foxnews.com/media/alex-azar-coronavirus-vaccine-timeline

Netanyahu calls virus ‘pandemic’ as Israel
plans restrictions on some US flights

by timesofisrael.com ~ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday that the coronavirus was a pandemic more severe than any disease outbreak in the past century... as a senior official said Israel was likely hours away from placing restrictions on flights arriving from some parts of the United States. “First of all, this is a global pandemic, whether the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) calls it such or not. It is a matter of days or hours. It is doubtful whether there has been a similar pandemic in the last 100 years. It seems that the rate of infection is greater than we figured.” He went on: “The assumption that the virus will disappear or evaporate in hot weather is unproven. At the moment, this has no basis that we can build on. The virus is currently spreading to Africa. There is no vaccine and anti-viral drugs are ineffective. Economies are starting to be hurt. Governments are ordering their gates closed. This is important for the supply of products for all economies. Nobody knows how the pandemic will end.” Twenty-two Israelis are currently known to be infected with the virus, the latest of whom was announced on Saturday night. One of them, a bus driver who ferried Greek pilgrims who later turned out to be infected with virus, is in serious condition. This patient, 38, “is fighting for his life,” Netanyahu said. Netanyahu said he was in touch with other world leaders and had discussed international cooperation to stem the spread of the outbreak. The virus hit a milestone Friday, infecting more than 100,000 people worldwide. It has killed nearly 3,400 people. The prime minister said that the virus did not seem to infect youth and children. He said he wanted members of security forces and youth groups to disinfect public places...

'Done our duty': Christopher Steele refuses

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ British ex-spy Christopher Steele declined to give an interview to U.S. Attorney John Durham's team for its review of the Russia investigation... Representatives for Steele, whose unverified dossier was used by the FBI to obtain warrants to wiretap a member of President Trump's 2016 campaign, were recently approached by members of the federal prosecutor's team, and they said the former MI6 agent would not cooperate with the inquiry, according to  Reuters. Sources for the report said Steele is concerned about politicization and not being treated fairly. Durham's spokesman declined to comment for the report. Durham, the top federal prosecutor in Connecticut, was appointed last year by Attorney General William Barr to review possible misconduct by federal law enforcement and intelligence officials in the Russia investigation, which Trump called a "witch hunt." The review turned into a criminal investigation in the fall, allowing Durham the power to impanel a grand jury and hand down indictments. Trump gave Barr the “full and complete authority to declassify information” and ordered the intelligence community “to quickly and fully cooperate with the Attorney General’s investigation into surveillance activities during the 2016 presidential election.” Only one person is publicly known to be under criminal investigation by Durham's team: former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who altered a key document in Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act filings related to onetime Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. Democrats have criticized the review as a politically motivated scheme to undermine the work of special counsel Robert Mueller and attack Trump's perceived enemies. Neither Steele’s attorneys nor his private investigative firm, Orbis Business Intelligence, immediately responded to the  Washington Examiner’s requests for comment...  https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/done-our-duty-christopher-steele-refuses-to-cooperate-with-john-durham-review?utm_source=breaking_push&utm_medium=app&utm_campaign=push_notifications&utm_source=WEX_News%20Brief_03/07/2020&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=WEX_News%20Brief&rid=5261

Senate Intelligence Committee leaders
'very concerned' about John Durham
review, Joe DiGenova says

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ The bipartisan duo leading the Senate Intelligence Committee are likely "very concerned" about the Justice Department review of the Russia investigation... according to former U.S. Attorney Joe DiGenova. DiGenova, a lawyer whose work has been caught up in the Ukraine-impeachment controversy, said Republican Chairman Richard Burr of North Carolina and Democratic Vice Chairman Mark Warner of Virginia appear to be under scrutiny by U.S. Attorney John Durham's team. "I also think that Burr and Warner are very, very concerned about where the Durham probe is going in looking into activities of those two senators with various lawyers and nonlawyers, including journalists in the run-up to the leaking of the Carter Page affidavit," DiGenova told  WMAL’s Mornings on the Mall this week. DiGenova appeared to be alluding to the case of James Wolfe, a longtime Senate Intelligence Committee aide who pleaded guilty in late 2018 to lying to investigators looking into leaks of classified information. Burr, Warner, and former Chairwoman Dianne Fein-stein of California urged a federal judge to show leniency as Wolfe faced two years in prison sought by federal prosecutors. A plea deal was struck, which resulted in a two-month prison sentence, after Wolfe's lawyers sent letters to senators on the panel notifying them they might need to testify as part of a criminal trial. Wolfe misled the FBI in December 2017 when they were investigating leaks to the media. The FBI's inquiry appeared to center on disclosures of information about a secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant obtained to wiretap Page, who had been an adviser to President Trump's 2016 campaign, as part of the Crossfire Hurricane counterintelligence operation. Durham, the top federal prosecutor in Connecticut, was appointed last year by Attorney General William Barr to review possible misconduct that took place in the Russia investigation that targeted Page, an American citizen suspected of being an agent for the Kremlin but who was never charged with any wrongdoing, and other members of the Trump team. Little is known about Durham's effort, except for clues dropped by Barr and the occasional news report, including those who said the review turned into a criminal investigation in the fall, allowing the U.S. attorney the power to impanel a grand jury and hand down indictments...

US Army Disbanding Counter-Terror Units

{ americanactionnews.com  } ~ As the US military shifts away from counter-terrorism (CT) to countering near-peer competitors such as China and Russia, the Pentagon is repurposing some underused dedicated CT units... Specifically, according to Business Insider, the Army Special Operations Command plans to get rid of the Crisis Response Force (CRF), a specialized Green Beret unit. The CRF used to be called Commander’s-in-extremis (CIF) companies and were considered the Combatant Commander’s strategic reserve force. The CRF came into the public eye during the Benghazi debacle in 2012. These Green Berets specialize in Direct Action (DA), Counterterrorism (CT), and Hostage Rescue (HR) missions. As Business Insider explained, in addition to the Pentagon’s shifting strategic focus away from CT, with other dedicated Tier One Special Mission Units such as Delta Force and Seal Team 6 (DEVGRU) more exclusively dedicated to CT and hostage rescue, Green Beret CRFs have become somewhat redundant. A senior CRF operator told SOFREP that “the CRF hasn’t been gainfully employed since the end of 2011, and other than that, the National Mission Force Joint Special Operations Command can get there just as fast. That’s why all of the other ones are on the chopping block.” The special operators and equipment from the CRF will be redistributed to the force, not eliminated altogether. As a prelude to this shift, Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT) decided to deploy a US Marine element to reinforce the US embassy in Baghdad in January, rather than the Commander’s Special Forces CRF unit responsible for the Middle East. As this US strategic policy shift continues expect more changes throughout the Special Warfare community. Paul Crespo is a defense and national security expert. { americanthinker.com } ~ Tide and time wait for no man, or so they say. But that isn't really true if you are a rich progressive, or one of those who finagle a fine living off the stupidity of naive guilt-riddled Westerners... Take the rising tide. For years the climate alarmists have been claiming that low-lying atolls like those in the Maldives would disappear, swallowed by the sea in a manner reminiscent of Atlantis. Global warming is causing sea level rise, they claim,  and places like the Seychelles or Kiribati or the Maldives were doomed, doomed, doomed! Reasonable people pointed out that the sea levels have been rising for ten thousand years and there has been no major increase in the rate of sea level rise which is 0.118 ± 0.016  inches per year, but this entreaty fell on deaf ears.  In fact, the Copenhagen Climate Summit made it quite plain: "The Copenhagen Climate Change conference opened this week with an urgent call to action on the rapidly warming temperatures and the associated human costs that come from it. And, no country in the world will be more affected than the small nation of Maldives. The country is a series of tiny atolls that rise no more than a few feet above sea level. The fear is that as sea levels rise, the entire country of Maldives will simply be swamped and disappear. All 309,000 residents of the country will have to move -- everyone from the President to the poorest resident. The newly elected President of the Maldives and his cabinet held a cabinet meeting underwater in full scuba gear to highlight their country’s fate. So, the prime minister needed lots of money to save a remnant of his people and provide breathing apparatus. Or was it for other reasons? The Maldives just built an airport. Actually, they just built four new airports. That is strange behavior for a country that needs to evacuate. Airplanes put out a lot of greenhouse gases. If the Maldives were really concerned about rising seas wouldn't that be a bad idea? Wouldn't they want to lead by example and not poison the air with plant food? And one has to ask why the country is building airports. The answer is tourism is way up, meaning those holier than thou European internationalists who fret over climate change and demand high gasoline prices and "decarbonization" are living off the fat of the land, flying to a tropical paradise while the hoi poloi struggle to pay their heating bills...

It’s always important to keep things in proper perspective. That is particularly important as the nation grapples with the fallout from the novel coronavirus, which has infected 100 Americans and killed six people. Sadly, more people died Monday night from the tornadoes that ripped through Tennessee.

But just so you know, the yearly flu has already infected at least 32 million Americans and caused 310,000 hospitalizations and 18,000 deaths.

The left’s delusional reaction to the coronavirus is more of a public threat than the virus itself. Seriously, friends, let’s just look at how the left has responded to this crisis.

  • When President Trump imposed travel restrictions on China, the left accused him of xenophobia. Monday, Dr. Deborah Birx, one of the nation’s top medical experts, said that the travel restrictions “bought us time and space” to combat the virus.

  • When the president created the Coronavirus Task Force, the left complained that it was “too white” and “too male.”

  • The left accused the president of muzzling medical experts. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told reporters over the weekend, “I’ve never been muzzled and I’ve been doing this since Reagan.”

  • The left accused the president of calling the coronavirus a “hoax.” Even liberal fact checkers  have rejected that accusation as false.

  • The left accused the president of gutting the budgets of vital health-related agencies. That too was false.

  • The left even mocked the administration for praying, which is what decent people do.

Once again, it’s obvious that the left views everything — yes, even a virus — through a warped, ideological lens. Just think about that for a moment.

If there’s a potentially dangerous virus spreading around the world, the left would refuse to secure the borders. It would demand that experience and expertise take a back seat to racial quotas. It would lie about basic facts and mock people for seeking God’s wisdom and mercy.

Is that really the kind of government we want? Just something to remember in November.

By the way, a recent Gallup survey found that 77% of Americans are confident in the government’s ability to address the coronavirus situation. That confidence level is significantly higher than previous outbreaks involving the bird flu, the swine flu, and Ebola.

Assaulting Your Rights

Did you catch Michael Bloomberg on the Fox News town hall Monday night? I’m not sure why Fox gave him a platform for his far-left views, but I was pleased to see one of the attendees blast Bloomberg for his hypocrisy.

Bloomberg is known for bankrolling radical anti-Second Amendment efforts around the country. Those efforts have elected hundreds of far-left Democrats. Yet, the former mayor travels with an armed security detail. The questioner pointedly asked Bloomberg, “Does your life matter more than mine or my family’s?”

Bloomberg’s response was dripping with condescension and entitlement. He made it clear that he was worth far more than the questioner, and as a former politician he does get death threats.

But he claimed that the only restrictions he supports are laws to prevent the sale of firearms “to people with psychiatric problems, criminals, or people [who] are minors.”

Well, there are already laws on the books to address all those things. But stopping kids from buying guns has nothing to do with the radical left-wing agenda he’s funding and enabling.

Michael Bloomberg is no “moderate.” He’s just another lying left-wing politician.

What About Fox?

It is really irritating to see that Fox News has joined every other media outlet in labeling commie-Bernie Sanders as “left wing” while describing his primary opponents as “moderate.”

I heard it Monday night as Fox covered loose lips liar-Biden’s Texas rally with socialist-Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, and socalist-Beto O'Rouke.

As I have noted before, but it evidently bears repeating, there's NOTHING moderate about any of these Democrats.

All of them support scumbag/liar-nObamacare or some form of government-run healthcare.

All of them support abortion on demand.

All of them support the demands of the radical homosexual/transgender movement.

All of them support open borders. Even free healthcare for illegal aliens.

All of them support the radical Green New Deal.

None of them are “moderate.” And you don’t have to take my word for it.

  • This media analysis found that loose lips liar-Joe Biden’s platform is more liberal than scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton’s.

  • The Washington Post editorial board recently declared, “No, socialist-Pete Buttigieg and loose lips liar-Joe Biden are not ‘centrists.’”

  • Axios wrote that loose lips liar-Biden and socialist-Buttigieg “have taken positions to the left of Barack scumbag/liar-nObama — illuminating the liberal drift of the entire party.”

Speaking of Fox News, I assume the network will be canceling Donna Brazile's contract after her outrageous outbursts yesterday. During a segment on Super Tuesday, Brazile repeatedly told RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel to “go to hell." Fox would never tolerate any conservative commentator talking to Brazile that way.

Speaking of Elections…

Israelis went to the polls Monday for their third national election in less than a year. While ballots are still being counted, initial results look promising for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

A spokesman for Netanyahu’s Likud Party told reporters, "The country had its say. The people want a nationalist government under Netanyahu.” At the moment, the conservative-religious bloc appears to control 58 seats in the Knesset, just shy of the 61 votes needed to form a government.

Getting Tough on China

Monday, the Trump administration imposed a cap on the number of employees that five of China’s state-owned propaganda outlets could have in the U.S. As a result of this employee limit, 60 Chinese nationals are effectively being expelled.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, “As we have done in other areas of the U.S.-China relationship, we seek to establish a long-overdue level playing field… We urge the Chinese government to immediately uphold its international commitments to respect freedom of expression, including for members of the press.”

As Secretary Pompeo noted, the Trump administration is aggressively rebalancing our relationship with China. And the American people are noticing. For the first time in decades, more Americans now see the United States, not China, as the world’s leading economic power.

President Trump is making America great again!
