Nielsen resigns as DHS secretary after
White House meeting with Trump

{ foxnews.com } ~ President Trump announced Sunday afternoon that Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen "will be leaving her position" after 16 months in the job... Trump also announced that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Kevin McAleenan will replace Nielsen as acting secretary, tweeting: "I have confidence that Kevin will do a great job!" Nielsen tweeted Sunday evening that she had submitted her resignation and added: "Its [sic] been an honor of a lifetime to serve with the brave men and women of @DHSgov. I could not be prouder of and more humbled by their service, dedication, and commitment to keep our country safe from all threats and hazards." She included an image of a resignation letter to Trump in which she wrote: "Despite our progress in reforming homeland security for a new age, I have determined that it is the right time for me to step aside." In a subsequent tweet, Nielsen addressed "the brave and dedicated men and women of @DHSgov," saying she was "eternally grateful and proud of what you do each and everyday [sic] to protect our homeland". "Our missions as a Department are vast and have never been more vital," Nielsen wrote. "You are in the arena- keep up the good fight. Thank you for your sacrifices and those of your families. God bless you and God bless our great country." Nielsen met with Trump at the White House Sunday amid an ongoing influx of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border that has been taxing America's immigration system and sparking frustration within the administration. The Associated Press, citing two sources, reported that Nielsen had been frustrated with the difficulty of getting other departments to help deal with the growing number of families crossing the southwestern border... { clarionproject.org } ~ Clarion Project has discovered that a private Islamic school in Dearborn, Michigan is linked to diehard supporters of Hezbollah and the Iranian regime... The school teaches students from kindergarten through 9thgrade. Great Revelations Academy was founded in 2015 by open supporters of Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah. By their own admission, the school’s founders are dedicated to spreading his message. Fadlallah was a supporter of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran and is considered to be a key inspirer of Hezbollah. Some go so far as to describe him as the terrorist group’s “spiritual leader.” Fadlallah supported the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Marines barracks in Beirut that killed 241 U.S. Marines who were serving as peacekeepers as well as 58 French troops and six civilians. In 2005, he reiterated his support for suicide bombings against Israel. When he died in Lebanon in 2010, Hezbollah called for three days of mourning. Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei sent his condolences. One of the academy’s founders, Fouad Bayoun, told Arab-American News that one of the purposes of creating the school was to pass along Fadlallah’s teachings to children in America. The school follows the same philosophy, mission and vision of Sayed Fadlallah,” said the school’s principal, Sheila Bazzi-Charara... Omani FM to Times of Israel: US peace plan
will fail without a Palestinian state

{ timesofisrael.com } ~ The US administration’s Israeli-Palestinian peace plan will fail if it does not provide for a Palestinian state... Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi said on Saturday. In an interview, bin Alawi also said the next several years would be “decisive” for peace efforts and called for Arab states to work to reassure Israel that it can withdraw from the West Bank and Golan Heights without feeling threatened. Bin Alawi said his talk with The Times of Israel, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Jordan, was his first sit-down interview with an Israeli publication. Gulf ministers rarely speak to Israeli outlets. The conversation came days before Israelis head to the polls, with a US peace plan for the region slated to be released sometime soon after. While US President Donald Trump has said he thinks the two-state solution, including the creation of a Palestinian state, “works best,” he has not committed to it. “If the plan avoids mentioning a Palestinian state, it will not have a future,” bin Alawi, who has served as Oman’s foreign minister since 1997, warned....

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., announced on Sunday he is ready to send eight criminal referrals to the Justice Department next week related to the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation.
"We're prepared this week to notify the attorney general that we're prepared to send those referrals over and brief him if he wishes to be briefed," Nunes said on Fox News.
The ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee has been teasing a referral of Justice Department and FBI officials for months and previously predicted its delivery by the end of last week.
However, Nunes backed away from that deadline, hinting that his team of investigators found more people, potentially up to two dozen, who could be connected to a criminal referral. Nunes said on "Sunday Morning Futures" that the people ensnared in his eight-person referral "may not be all of them."
Nunes did not disclose any names, but he did break down three categories in which they fall.
"Five of them are what I would call straight up referrals so just referrals that are, that name someone and name the specific crimes. Those crimes are lying to Congress, misleading Congress, leaking classified information," Nunes said.
The other three, he said are more complicated, related to charges of conspiracy to lie to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.
"There are three that I think are more complicated so you mentioned conspiracy. So the question on conspiracy is what, there's the conspiracy statute, and then what do they need to look at under that statute. So on the first one, is FISA abuse and other matters we believe there is a conspiracy to lie to the FISA Court, mislead the FISA court by numerous individuals that all need to be investigative and looked at," Nunes said. "The second conspiracy one is involving manipulation of intelligence. That also could [involve many] many Americans and we are, so that's kind of the second one. As you know, we've had a lot of concerns with the way intelligence was used."
The third referral Nunes called a "global leak referral."
"There are about a dozen highly sensitive classified information leaks that were given to only a few reporters over the last two and a half-plus years, so we don't know if there's actually been any leak investigations that have been open, but we do believe that we've got pretty good information and a pretty good idea of who could be behind these leaks," Nunes said. "Doesn't mean we know all the people behind the leaks because when you read these a lot of these they're always anonymous sources, and they always say something to the effect of current and former senior officials."
Nunes has looked to Attorney General William Barr to make headway toward completing an investigation begun last year by a joint GOP-led task force comprising the Judiciary Committee and the Oversight Committee. Key to this effort, which has been bolstered by intelligence panel Republicans, was investigators looking over roughly 15 transcripts of interviews conducted by the task force last year. In recent weeks, House Judiciary Committee ranking member Doug Collins, R-Ga., released transcripts of the private interviews of former FBI agent Peter Strzok, former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, Justice Department official Bruce Ohr, his wife Nellie Ohr, former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos, and former top FBI official Bill Priestap.
Also a potential contributing factor to Nunes' efforts is the House Intelligence Committee's vote last fall to release the transcripts of more than 50 interviews it conducted in its now-completed Russia investigation, which had been submitted to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence for declassification review.
Nunes has railed against what he says is collusion between the Democrats and the Russians, pointing to use of the unverified Trump dossier by the FBI to obtain FISA warrants to spy on onetime Trump campaign official Carter Page as proof of an unraveling operation to undermine the president. That dossier, compiled by British ex-spy Christopher Steele, was funded in part by scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton's campaign and the Democratic National Committee and was given to multiple members of the media. As noted in the GOP majority memo from the House Intelligence Committee last year, details like the dossier's Democratic benefactors and its author's anti-Trump bias were left out of the FISA warrant applications, which has alarmed Republican investigators concerned about political bias.
Citing the classified or sensitive nature of his eight referrals, Nunes refused to dive into too many specifics about his imminent referral, but he said "people that have followed 'Russiagate' for a long time, they know a lot of the names."
In conclusion, Nunes suggested the effort could balloon to encompass dozens of people.
"We think there's only a few people behind these leaks but there could be multiple people, so on the global leak referral, there could be several individuals," Nunes said. "When you look at the conspiracy that could get up to a dozen, two dozen people."
