"A small nation can disappear, and it knows it."-- Milan Kundera

Israel is not just a small country, it is the only country whose neighbors publicly declare its very existence an afront to law, morality, and religion and make its extinction an explicit, paramount national goal.

Israel is the embodiment of Jewish continuity. It is the only nation on Earth that inhabits the same land, bears the same name, speaks the same language and worships the same God that it did 3,000 years ago. As a result, Israel is not just the cultural center of the Jewish world, it is the demographic center as well.  The end of Israel means the end of the Jewish people. They cannot survive another Holocaust and exile. The demographic trends of the diaspora point to that fact. Combining the effects of fertility(1) and intermarriage and even making an overly optimistic assumption that every child raised Jewish will grow up to retain his Jewish identity means that, in 2 generations, the number of real Jews will decrease by 66%.

The Holocaust demonstrated the catastrophic danger of powerlessness. The solution was self-defense, and that meant a demographic reconcentration in a place endowed with sovereignty, statehood and arms. All the eggs in one basket so to speak.

Israel, as a small, densely populated country surrounded by hostile states, had for its 1st 50yrs, adopted forward defense - fighting wars on enemy territory rather than its own. Where possible, Israel traded territory for peace(1). Remember "land for peace”? Well, Israel gave the land, and what did it get? Answer: intensification of belligerency, heavy militarization on the enemy side, cross-border attacks, etc etc.  Where peace offers were refused, Israel retained the territory as a protective buffer.

Israel has also used military action to disrupt, dismantle and defeat, BObama's methodology against the taliban, and newly armed terrorist mini- states. Of course the UN's goldstone report, whitewashing anti-Israel belligerency, made Israel out to be the bad guys. Compared with the way its neighbors treat protesters, prisoners and opposition in general, Israel is a beacon of human rights. Any moral judgment must take into account the alternative. The standard of behavior demanded of Israel is not just higher than its neighbors, not just equal to that of the West, but in fact far higher than any Western country in similar circumstances. And certainly it would be a joke to even suggest comparing Israel to the standards of the left-wings' beloved marxist countries, let alone how islamists are treated by islamists.

Israel's enemies have insisted on the so-called right to return, stated with many different and deceptive slogans, which would effectively only turn the world's only Jewish State into the world's 23rd Arab state. Israel's enemies explicitly declare its mission to be the abolition of the state of Israel. And to Jews in general. Just look at the islamic world, home to 33% of all the Jews in the world 300 years ago, now practically Judenrein, from islamic treatment of them, much worse than what they complain about from the Jews. Gaza, that Israel captured during a war the arabs started, was then returned only to have its occupants overwhelming vote in hamas, which is a self-declared enemy of Israel - a declaration backed up by events like October 7th. Yet, having pledged itself to unceasing belligerency against Israel, hamas claims victimhood.

Yes, left-wing anti-semites are out to deprive Israel of any effective, legitimate form of self-defense. Throughout the islamic world, newspapers, television, school books and sermons are filled with the most violent antisemitism influencing and stirring anti-semitism in their masses. They chant in our streets too, not just across the world, for a "final solution." Territorial disputes are solvable; existential conflicts are not.

1. From Asia to Europe to the Americas, across nations and races and religions, birth rates plunged again in 2023. Countries across the developed world are having kids at levels far too low to keep their populations steady. Women must have about 2.1 children on average to maintain a stable population. But many wealthy and even middle-income countries are now below 1.5 kids per woman. Some are under 1, heralding demographic collapse. Birth rates have been slowly falling for a while. But last year’s drops were notable both for their severity and because they’re now happening sharply in countries that had largely avoided them, such as France. The US is a striking exception, births fell only 2% in 2023, to roughly 3.6 million.
